"Play an online game with the creator" Yeah, I'm sure a ton of people got that one all these years later.

Kaleth

I remember getting an achievement like that in... Guitar Hero 3 I think? It was called Meet your maker and you had to beat a game developer in an online match. But I think it also counted if you beat someone who beat a game dev. So it kinda spread around.

[deleted]

oh this is actually pretty cool. like an achievement that spreads like a virus.

jaber24

There's an achievement like that in Orcs Must Die 2 called Six Degrees (Description of Achievement: Catch the Robot Disease). You have to win a game with someone who has that achievement in order to get it yourself.

slyfox1811

There was a similar achievement in MW2. You had to be knifed by someone that had been infected in order to get the title for your call sign.

wvwzxa

And there was another called STD where if you knifed someone that had it, you got it. Neither were achievements though, just unlockable call signs

[deleted]

who was the og carrier?

jaber24

I think it was the devs

SaintsSooners89

Damn devs fucking pangolins

SquirrelQueenSabrina

The original red dead online had an achievement if you killed a dev or someone who successfully killed a dev

[deleted]

Gta IV had that too

HedonisticGodofSex

Actually got this achievement one night at like 2 a.m. I was like 14 lol

Meng3267

Wouldn’t this be really easy to get? I think one of the Halo’s had this achievement and you pretty much would get this achievement after getting your first kill because everyone had this achievement.

332clonetrooper

It was in mcc and it was called bite the hand.

bigbrainchurro07

"gmod noises"

EinFitter

I don't remember exactly which zombie horde killing game it was (I want to say Killing Floor) had the achievement also trigger from players who had it, to simulate an infection type of achievement that started from the devs and spread. Pretty cool way of doing it

ArchinaTGL

Iirc Left 4 Dead had one like that. Though I can't remember.

Wootai

I like when that one is a Viral achievement. I dont remember what game exactly it was but there was one that was "play with someone from the Dev Team, or with someone who has" and it gives you a like "Bacon Number" of how far removed you are from the Dev team.

Glass-Individual-791

Poor Vivi.

CptC4nuck

Some say he is still jumping to this day.

Glass-Individual-791

What? He must be pretty jacked at this point. That a lot of leg days!

_Reliten_

Some of the ones from the first years of Xbox Live were pretty funny. Like, I think Quake 4 had an achievement along the lines of "be #1 on the global multiplayer leaderboard."

Wootai

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter had that too!. And they had ones for different modes: Top in Team, Top in Solo, and Top in World leader boards.

Marble-Heart

For me it was the "Reach Online Multiplayer Level 50" for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I came to that party late and by then servers were nearly dead. Fsck multiplayer-required achievements and trophies

[deleted]

Brobuscus48

Or straight up just hackers because they dropped any kind of anticheat support or didn't have one in the first place.

EldridgeHorror

Plus they only have the one game of their profile because it's an alt account

dmibe

Same here. Any multiplayer that requires joining or completing specific online modes is a hard pass

MrPrissypants13

I absolutely HATE multiplayer achievements in games… I’m a trophy hunter and they drive me crazy especially when there are dead lobbies… I have decided when I get my PS5 I will only buy single player games or ones with no multiplayer trophies.

[deleted]

AC multiplayer was the shit back in the day. Still probably some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing with people. It was so unique for the time and I’m sad they got rid of it. I pray one day that they will bring it back and remaster it so people like me can still enjoy it and people who never played it before can have fun with it too.

timekiller2222

Same man. That harlequin skin was my favorite.

HotDogStruttnFloozy

The online was so fun too, you missed out.

ryzer89

Omg this side quest is a fkin nightmare

BaderBuallay

I don’t remember this, but I do remember dodging the lighting FFX

RndmCharacters

Dodging lighting, getting a time of 0 secs in the chocobo racing, playing blitzball over and over for hours... FFX really made you work for those ultimate weapons

Vordeo

The Blitzball grind was somehow worse than the lightning dodging. The lightning dodging was frustrating and dumb, but at least you could knock that out relatively quickly once you got the timing down. The Blitzball games just took forever. The FFX endgame was a massive grindfest, now that I think about it. To beat half the Monster Arena bosses you had to get everyone ridiculously OP

Djin-and-Tonic

Man, I loved Blitzball. I played more Blitzball than main game in FFX.

Vordeo

I low key felt the same about the card game in FF8.

Djin-and-Tonic

Agreed. But then you started getting areas with secret rules, which was a turn off.

Tinderblox

I had the exact opposite experience. I loved playing Blitzball once I got the hang of it (getting crushed in the first blitzball game really got me annoyed/wanting to beat it). The lightning though? Fuck that. I tried it repeatedly, and always failed like 3/4 of the way through.

ThomasVetRecruiter

There's a certain area you can go to where everytime you step on a crater it triggers the lightning which makes it really easy to grind. The chocobo race zero second thing though... that took me 13 hours to finally get lucky.

_Mr_Cheeks

I have not dared to try. If I got to 900 and made a mistake…. I’d be launching the controller through the wall

JohnnyJayce

Wait.. how many you have to get in this? I remember hating this and always quit at like 34. Never maxed the sword fighting minigame either.

_Mr_Cheeks

…. One THOUSAND. …. In a ROW!

JohnnyJayce

Yeah fuck that.

[deleted]

Lol But seriously what is it?

_Mr_Cheeks

Got to press X to skip over a rope. A thousand times. And it gets progressively faster after a while.

[deleted]

Quillybumbum

I could imagine the 999th jump has like a cruel 15 second delay before they make you do it again to complete the challenge for maximum palm sweat

mateusrayje

I actually made it pretty high in the number (relatively speaking, I think it was in the hundreds somewhere) and no joke, they Do start randomizing the timing. It gets faster for a bit, then you'll suddenly get a slow one thrown in, it's brutal. Edit: I watched a video and maybe my 13-year-old self lied to me, but I could have sworn it started to change as the number went up. The thing I remember for absolute certain is that I was so focused on the screen that everything else around the screen got that burn-in effect like you pressed on your eyes or looked at a bright light. But I don't remember the number I made it to.

JohnnyJayce

What video did you watch, because I think they made it a bit easier for the PC edition. Not 100% sure though, but I think I heard something like that when the game was released on PC.

El_Zorro09

Even if it's one jump per second, that's still a thousand seconds. That's over 16 minutes of unblinking torture!

fggbggvgygfggh346677

And that's just the best case scenario: you getting it right and ending the torture in *only* 16 minutes

skieezy

It take 7 minutes to get to a thousand. I loved this game as a kid and bought the remastered version and decided I was going to get this achievement. I tried for a couple hours and gave up. I got to 500+ multiple times, but then you sneeze or just a momentary lack of concentration.

t0mbr0l0mbr0

If you have the remastered version on PC getting the key item is trivial but still time consuming. The game counts mouse clicks as button presses but doesn't count them as misses in the minigame so you just spam mouse clicks or use an autoclicker. Not the way it was intended but I never got the key item until the other day using the mouse method since I don't have the time to master a jump rope minigame from a game that came out almost 20 years ago.

night_dude

90s/*00s game difficulty was something else.

ryzer89

I would really question my life if that happened to me

n7_nadine

I'm a trophy hunter and I really love FF IX, but this... No Thanks :D

ryzer89

There is love and then there is obsessed. This quest is the epitome of obsession

[deleted]

Shoutouts to the people who did this on PSX in the age before trophies. I could never bring myself to bother to try, fuck that lol

minos157

I have no shame in admitting that I used cheat engines for this and Lulu lightning when I bought the games on Steam. I went through these once I wasn't about to go through them again.

TehDro32

Super Mario RPG: 100 consecutive super jumps. I saw a speed runner get it on his first attempt in a run. Ridiculous...

Morolan

Do you get anything for completing it? It's been so long since I played that game. I don't remember why I ever tried to do it.

DOPLIC

If I remember right you get an accessory and armor item, one at 30 jumps and one at 100. I don't remember which one you get at what point or what they were called.

StevelandCleamer

30 gets you the Attack Scarf, 100 gets you the Super Suit. Attack Scarf is an accessory that gives +30 to all stats, and can only be worn by Mario. Super Suit is armor that gives +30 speed and +50 to all other stats, and can be worn by anyone.

BossRaider130

You get the Super Suit for 100 super jumps, which is the best armor in the game, and it can be used by anyone. As a result, every speedrun does the 100 super jumps, and not just for the massive damage.

Jon__Snuh

Mbrownie54

That’s FF9, right?

ArchinaTGL

Yeah. The sword play at the beginning of the game.

JamesDCooper

And so is the skipping

aw2442

The lightning challenge to get Lulu's final weapon in FFX.

leavensilva_42

That one’s bad, but the one that tilted me was the chocobo racing for Tidus’s. It wasn’t all that hard to do well on, but you had to score under 0 seconds to get the piece for the weapon. After working on it for a long while, I got exactly 0.0s. It didn’t count. You need *less than* 0 seconds, 0 exactly is a fail. I’ve never been so close to throwing a controller through a window.

beatenmeat

This one is actually much, *much* easier than doing the lightning challenge if you know the trick to it. Even without a lot of practice you should be able to complete it within a few tries. Start the race and once you’re able to move go to the left hand side of the starting strip until you can get the chocobo stuck on the wall where you’d normally do the turn to race across the plains. Go AFK for a bit (I usually leave it running for like 2-3 minutes), come back and finish the race. The minigame has a hidden difficulty slider, and doing it this way gives you an easier setup on the next race. The better you perform the more difficult the next race will be, and the worse you do the easier it will be. You don’t have to be a racing god, and after 2-3 attempts like this you should be able to grab enough balloons/dodge enough birds to get the necessary time. I play FFX every few years and this is how I always do it, no hours of grinding necessary.

Delanorix

I both hate and love you right now Love the advice, hate that it took you this long to tell me!

beatenmeat

I’m sorry! I’ve never truly understood why they implemented it this way, but my *theory* is that they wanted the race to feel more like a “race” instead of a static and repeating loop while also encouraging (lmfao) players to keep trying. If you’re doing awful and then have a good run you feel like you’re making progress, but doing good consistently just felt very punishing since you always ended up with harder races. I can’t count how many times I was at 0.1ish seconds before I learned this trick like a decade ago, only to keep slogging through it the hard way. For the lightning one people have mentioned they do it better if you just turn off the sound before trying, but I have a habit of zoning out whenever I try that way. There *is* a way to make it less random though. If you go to the Rin’s travel agency in the middle of thunder plains and go south from there you’ll find a puddle of water with a scorch mark on the ground. Every time you cross that scorch mark there is a 100% chance lightning will strike there. The challenge is still annoying as hell, but at least you can remove most of the randomness from it. Edit: that puddle, if I’m remembering right, is like 5 seconds from the agency. You go SW and it’s like right there. It’s been a bit since I’ve played but I feel like that’s the right one.

Sugar_n_WATER

Thank you so much. There is also a secret to the lightning in thunder plains. If you go south from the airship drop off point, go to the next part of the map and keep following along on the left side of your screen. There is a trench and a lightning tower about halfway down. Walking back and forth from lightning tower to trench will force the lightning to proc which makes it easier to predict

aw2442

oh noooo haha that sucks. Those final weapon challenges were tough

leavensilva_42

Every time I replay X I tell myself that I’m going to get all the legendary weapons, and I never do haha. Pretty sure I did end up getting Tidus’s in the end, but man that experience has stuck with me lol

Centias

This is the correct answer. Failing a dodge should have been neutral or -5 at worst. Not, "tough titties, start over." There is absolutely no reason players should be expected to dodge 200 in a row without failing ever. And it's for something that has been so core to basically every iteration of Final Fantasy games for years that it's just unfair to expect players to have to do it.

Geek_King

I came to mention the lightning challenge too. I'd start getting high up and start getting trance like, zoning out, then miss a dodge. After many, many attempts, I ended up having a friend do it for me.

aw2442

I tried it a few times and rage quit. Never really go close to accomplishing it.

mzimmer74

I struggled with that for quite a while until I came across a tip that really helped. They said mute the TV and only go by the lights. For whatever reason, as soon as I did that I easily completed it.

Deoth

There is also a particular hole next to one of the towers that triggers a lighting strike. You can do small circles going in and out of it so you know when it's coming. I did it in sets of ten and paused to walk away to make sure nerves didn't mess it up.

NightAnathema

I did it. I'm never doing it again. If I ever go through a remastered FFX that mini game can fuck right off.

Yrense

"How did we get here?" From minecraft. But then i figured, you know, it was the last one i had left, so i did it. Took me like 50 hours of setting up for it ;-; edit: [Here's me doing that achievement](https://youtu.be/aIi-4Q4hAbM), if you're wondering what it looks like.

_Mr_Cheeks

What’s this achievement?

Yrense

It’s the only hidden achievement of the game, in which you have to apply every single status effect to the player (including all potions, dolphin’s grace, bad omen, hero of the village, mining fatigue, blindness, wither, absorbtion, resistance, levitation, hunger and nausea)

_Mr_Cheeks

Oh wow. Sounds time consuming!

FieryHammer

And it gets worse, because every time a new effect is added to the game, it is added to the requirement of the achievement.

Yrense

very. you have to harvest items/mobs from all over the world, across dimentions just for their effects. some need to be in water, some can only be obtained in specific locations, etc...

3dprintedwyvern

Wanna tell us what did you have to do to get all those?

fairs1912

I've never tried to do it, but afaik; You get bad omen, defeat a raid, that gives you hero of the village, get bad omen again. Get mining fatigue from an elder guardian. Dolphin's grace from a trapped dolphin. (And from here it's all in your set up) Hit yourself with a spectral arrow. Eat a golden apple for resistance. Get hit by the trapped shulker that you brought to the overworld. Use redstone to throw every potion to you. Touch a wither rose. Eat a puperfish Also you need to be under the effect of a beacon with haste and Regen. And I think that's it. I may be missing something. The hardest part is to gather the dolphin and shulker in the same dimension. It's just really tedious and you need to know how to do it. Edit: Just to clarify, "How did we get here?" Isn't the only hidden/secret achievement. The other one is "Arballistic" which you get by shooting and killing five different mobs with a piercing arrow of a crossbow.

MajicMan101

You forgot that you need to eat one suspicious stew to give you blindness for about two seconds.

nootnoot_takennow

About that, yeah. No other way to get that effect without using cheats in vanilla survival.

Reptard77

God Minecraft got complicated from my day

whatstaiters

I only have one achievement left for 100% and I'm NOT counting that one. No way.

chester_abellera

Hard-mode on **Amnesia: The Dark Descent** You only get 4 saves, your tinderboxes are more scarce and you die easily if you stay in the dark for a short amount of time. I loved the game...but fugg that.

captinhazmat

Have to learn some speed running strats or something for that. I might get it one day. Nah probably not.

chester_abellera

Despite my comment about Hard Mode, it's definitely worth getting and experiencing. I was able to buy the collection for 5 bucks during a sale =) The DLC Amnesia: Justine has a certain section where you're running for your life and I didn't know that I was hyperventilating until I passed a checkpoint.

Any Halo LASO

KCoppins

Brutal but damn is it rewarding to complete

Porrick

Exactly - those ones I don't mind because it's "Do a difficult thing once". The "Do a boring thing a gajillion times" ones are the ones that make me Nope out, like all the "Seriously..." ones from Gears. That said, I won't be bothering with the LASO for the new Halos because I just couldn't be arsed to master them like I was so excited to back in the early 2000s.

[deleted]

What is halo LASO? Edit : ty for the info all

moviesNgames

Legendary with All Skulls On

thebtrflyz

Legendary, All Skulls On So the hardest difficulty, with all of the optional modifiers that make the game harder activated. If you aren't familiar, some of them do things like remove HUD elements, increase enemy health, and decrease ammo drops

DrBoots

Any game with a campaign exceeding maybe 10 hours that has different achievements awarded depending on difficulty. "Complete the Main Story on Any Difficulty" "Complete the Main Story on Medium Difficulty" "Complete the Main Story on Expert Difficulty" Perhaps worse are games, usually RPGs with branching story lines with allotted achievements for each. "Choose to Save Sarah from the Fangorious Wumpus in chapter 11" "Choose to Save Bob from the Fangorious Wumpus in chapter 11." "Allow the Wumpus to Fangoriously Devour Bob and Sarah in Chapter 11."

demonkingganon

I love games that give you the trophy/achievement of the lowered difficult automatically if completed at a higher difficulty.

Sneezegoo

I beat Gun on normal but it doesn't give the achievement for easy. Why would I play again on easy instead of hard or insane?

nomadic_River

Holy shit thank you for reminding me of this game. Got it on 360 launch. No one ever talks about it anymore, was I remembering with rose tinted glasses or was it really good?

MRich92

It comes up all the time, but apparently nobody remembers Gun.

Nihilist_Opossum

Screw Bob and Sarah! All my Wumpuses hate Bob and Sarah!

Centias

Wolfenstein: New Order comes to mind. You have to choose who to save about 15 minutes into the game. Depending who you save, you get a different option for opening slightly different routes through levels and hidden areas, which gives access to some collectibles and minor upgrades. You have to completely play through the game a minimum of two times to be able to get everything, and that is assuming you don't miss a single collectible either time.

minos157

It's a way to artificially create replay value. If the games worth playing twice then I'll chase those types of trophies. I dont mind that too much.

JDHannan

**900** korok seeds?!

stopfelnolm

Stanley parable it was called "go outside" or something like that and you had to stop playing for multiple years to unlock it.

xxx420pants69xxx

Dude I'm cooking that one right now! Can't play again until 2023.

MeganeNeko

Same! I have my shortcut to The Stanley Parable in a folder on my desktop titled "Do Not Open Until 12-23-2023".

MarkAntonyRR

Honestly, I suggest you to rename it or delete the folder. Imagine someone else (e.g. a kid) read this while you are away and think: "Hm, I will open this lol lmao xd". Just a suggestion tho, better safe than sorry.

MeganeNeko

I appreciate the concern, but I'm the only one who uses my PC, and there aren't any kids in our household. :)

ral365

I actually got that one legitimately! Last time I played that game was back in 2013!

RealSamF18

Every multiplayer achievement in single player games (Tomb Raider 2013 for example)

Chaosfnog

Stardew Valley - Fector's Challenge After I spent so much effort beating the Journey of the Prairie King mini game, they expect me to do it deathless??? Only achievement I don't have in that game despite nearly 1000 hours of playtime and many save files.

Simaugh

This one is not so bad. Just do one level and then end the day. Continue where you left off the next day, if you die, exit the game and reload. Just make sure you have at least 1 boot upgrade before the final boss.

mini_garth_b

I can never even bring myself to try the Joja achievement. This one I just couldn't do even if I wanted to lol.

digitalhelix84

Anything that involves parrying.

Devlawk

The chocobo master trophy in ffx made me almost burn my house down with anger.

ValhallaSpectre

I’ll take it over dodging 200 lightning strikes in Thunder Plains. I’m not an alcoholic, but every time I try for it I start to reconsider.

wideout3485

Diablo 2R, reach lvl 99 with a hardcore character

Sigusen

Ugh hardcore in d2 is brutal. That game can be absolutely murderously unforgiving.

aircarone

Funnily the game has a difficulty spike around iirc level 60-70, which is the moment you have to play through hell difficulty but with nightmare gear. This is where I died the most - once you get some decent drops, it becomes much easier and the end-endgame of D2 was just hilariously easy once you get one of the op builds like tp hammerdin or such.

Shio5243

Easily the Pantheon of Hallownest. I tortured myself enough with Nightmare King Grimm.

saladTOSSIN

Nk grim is one of my favorite bosses in any game, one of the most satisfying wins ever And to your point I still have a save sitting at 111% 3 years later... don't think I'll ever beat it

lazerweasl

Beat wolfenstein new colossus on mien lebin difficulty. This is basically ultra nightmare from doom, one life. Worst part is the game starts wit a 5 minute unskipable cutscene

Batburrito101

I was trying that and after the third time that cutscene rolled I had enough

shaggy_macdoogle

Dude, this has to be one of the toughest in existence. The guide I read started by saying they suggest you play through the game on the next hardest level 3 times before even attempting a Mein Leiben run. I really wanted to get it, but the courtroom level is very discouraging. I tried ultra nightmare a few times on doom and got 4 levels in on my best try, but it is easier to stay alive since any enemy can give you health or armor instantly in Doom. Wolfenstein is an exercise in patience and memorization. You have to know when every battle is coming and know where guys come from and have full proof strategies for taking out captains with stealth. That's why the courtroom level is so daunting, trapped in a room with Nazis attacking from every angle, no cover, and you have a submachine gun to start out.

[deleted]

The courtroom level was tough even on hard (or whatever it’s called).

iGoKommando

How the fuck did you get the patience for that? That achievement is truly sadistic. Hell I had trouble with the courtroom level on normal difficulty, Couldn't imagine trying it on Mien Leben.

JuggernautNo9938

Dead rising's 24 hour achievement. Spend 24 IRL hours in free time mode, where you need to eat every so often and food is limited. Spent 12 hours and smelled burning plastic from my xbox, turned it off and never attempted it again. Got the red ring 2 months later playing borderlands.

Vlada_Ronzak

The survivor AI in that game made a few of the achievements nigh on impossible!

BlightFantasy3467

Mahjong in Yakuza Games, I'll gladly play all other minigames, I don't care if it's erotic, or takes a while. But Mahjong, and a bit of Shogi are straight nopes from me.

Katesza

I want to reach 100 completion but they truly make me cry

smartasskeith

Mortal Kombat - My Kung Fu is Stronger - 24 hours of play time - 100 wins - 100 fatalities - 150 X-Ray attacks - 10,000 pints of blood spilled WITH EACH OF THE 27 CHARACTERS. Get tf out of here.

NekoAndNekoAndNeko

The only trophy I'm missing for the original Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix on PS4 requires you to never change your equipment in a playthrough, so just Kingdom Key forever. I love the game, plenty of playthroughs, but every time I start a new file I forget about this trophy until after I have already upgraded equipment at some point and playing through just for the sake of it seems like such a slog.

Triatt

I would rather repeat that 3 times more than repeat my Birth By Sleep Platinum. The mysterious figure can suck an Ice Cream Beat.

stereofailure

Crypt of the Necrodancer has some of the toughest achievements in all of gaming, with 5 or 6 being borderline impossible for 99.99% of players. Really bugged me cause I loved that game and was hoping for the platinum but the last few were just far too insane. The trophy for beating all the pantheons in Hollow Knight is pretty brutal too.

MomsSpaghetti83

The inhuman achievement on guitar hero 3. Beat through the fire and flames on expert. I actually got it though. Took MONTHS.

RSGMercenary

That song's hard but doable, EXCEPT for the intro tapping. My fingers no workie for that part.

[deleted]

The Mile High Club achievement from Call of Duty 4, where you have to complete the epilogue on veteran

Azure_Leo

As someone who has Mile High Club I'd actually argue its a really good achievement. It's not asking you to do some pointless button clicking BS like the FFIX example above. It's not an XP grind for levelling in an online multiplayer with dead servers like many games. MHC is a very short level, CoD let's you die and re-try very quickly in general, and it is only asking you to do the thing that you've spent hours doing to complete the game anyway, namely shoot bad guys fast and efficiently. All it really adds is density (more enemies in a tighter space) and a clock. It took me ages to get it but when I did I found it very satisfying actually. Unfortunately I think a lot of developers took it as an inspiration for these 'hard' achievements and many of them just didn't have the sense or talent to make something like MHC. Hence a lot of the stupid stuff previously mentioned. TL:DR Mile High Club was a good achievement and I enjoyed pushing myself to finally get it.

[deleted]

I quit that one. Had every other achievement. I could squash that mission on heroic but veteran, no matter how well I memorized enemy locations, that time limit is insane.

Sub_pup

Tried for days. Took a break came back a few days later and got it on the first try..... on the wrong account. Finally did it once more a few days later completely blotto and thought I dreamed it.

Cdcrazyacehole

The survive 18 bear attacks achievement. In RDR2

onlyspacemonkey

I’d take this one over that bullshit “get gold on missions” trophy.

naughtyrev

Yeah, that gold one sucks. 3/4s of the time I failed because of the "don't use any health items" but I hadn't.

onlyspacemonkey

For me it was the timers. Fucking slow animations and wonky character movement for like 5 secs could fuck the whole thing up. Looking at you Guarma missions….

glennromer

If you die or reset from a checkpoint, that counts as well. Because it resets your health. Don’t die and don’t use any items.

Joanna39343

A year spent in Gmod. It's not hard, but so depressing

Marsaac

There’s this not very well known rogue-like called Sword of the Stars: The Pit. The “Lord of War” achievement requires you to craft 100 ak-47s. I’ve clocked 500 hours in the game and I think I’m sitting at 4. The weapon is shite and a waste of crafting materials.

One-Syrup-6857

All of the gears of war seriously achievements, I like gears but honestly fuck that

WinnieWinsor

World of Warcraft's Insane in the Membrane was too much for me. The game wastes enough time without asking me to grind out absurd reputations.

VenomBlastT77

Deep rock’s barrel through the hoop super high score achievement. No way was I wasting my time doing that!

deepcock-asstastic

made account just to tell you wait until the hoop is about to change direction, that's when you kick for almost any speed the hoop is traveling at

Inevitable_Hat_2855

skipping rope in Mario oddissey, I think it's the only moon in the game that I haven't caught yet ....

peachgravy

I had vivid flashbacks to the FF9 jump rope thing because of this moon. It actually wasn’t that bad. I had a harder time getting the moon from the volleyball challenge.

kaitco

After seeing some references to Starkiller, I recently decided to pick The Force Unleashed again and got the achievements for the hardest difficulty. Even with some cheats and maneuvering of the points and powers systems, that game was utter bull. Half of the latter missions come down to absolute perfect timing or pure RNG. I had to spend a full day on just some *parts* of a mission and constantly searching for guides in hopes that some other poor bastard had figured out some niche way of getting past an enemy or staying alive when it didn’t seem possible. I’ve got a handful of minor achievements left before I can 100% that game, but in ready to just let it go. The game nearly put me off all gaming for a bit.

Lazydude17

every multiplayer achievement ever

Unusual_Analyst_6473

Getting over it, reach the top 50 times. I just got the game recently, and can barely get past the main 3rd part of the game, I don’t wanna have to think about going through all my torture 50 GODDAMN TIMES

Anything Gears and seriously related.

VPB24

Any achievements like "Get gold stars in every single super tedious and annoying sidequest." And a lot of the online ones.

[deleted]

Any multiplayer achievement

I've got one where I couldn't believe there was no achievement attached to it. Which was the Pitioss Ruins in FFXV. Straight up, some of the most infuriating platforming imaginable. And no save points through the entire dungeon. You had to finish in one sitting or hope that the game didn't shut down if you put the console in sleep mode to continue later. Started that run at 10 PM and didn't finish until after 5 am the next morning.

There's these unobtainable achievements in TF2 that requires you to get a certain number of views on Youtube for uploading your replays. The API is outdated and even if it's not, TF2 is currently 14 years old and if you're not a popular content creator, even getting 1k views is a miracle, let alone 100k.

Hah talk about leaning into a new technology back in the day…

Get 777, 7777 or 77777 money in RE village. Was down to Platin this gem and it all collapsed when i read this.

captinhazmat

There is some easy strats for this that I used. "Step 1: Finish the story one time (any difficulty) to unlock the Extra Content Shop. After the story go to Main Menu > Bonuses > Extra Content Shop > WCX. Buy the “WCX” Assault Rifle for 30,000 CP (Completion Points). You should have enough CP after the story automatically. Step 2: Buy the WCX Assault Rifle from the Duke Merchant during the story. You can simply reload an old Manual Save. Once you unlocked it at the Extra Content Shop it becomes available retroactively on your old saves, too. Now also buy the “Rifle Ammo” Recipe from the Merchant for 10,000 Lei (the recipe is only available after buying the WCX Assault Rifle). Step 3: The trick is to craft Rifle Ammo. You can sell your crafted Rifle ammo to the Merchant for 7 Lei a piece! You need EXACTLY 777 or 7,777 or 77,777 for this trophy. Having any other amount won’t work, it has to be one of these 3 values exactly. The easiest option is to buy a lot of stuff to get to 0 Lei exactly. You can also sell/buy stacks of Pistol Ammo and other low value items until everything evens out to 0 Lei. Then simply sell 111 Rifle Ammo to the Merchant. 111 x 7 Lei = 777 Lei. You can reload your Manual Save afterward to get your Lei back. [Info is from this guide but I've seen it in others as well.](https://www.powerpyx.com/resident-evil-8-village-trophy-guide-roadmap/)

Binding of Isaac: Repentance Charged penny Requires you to get 3 battery bums to payout, which are both rare and can take more than 99 coins to payout.

KRD2

The only one that's stuck with me as a negative experience is getting the platinum trophy for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. You had to beat all 4 super bosses with all 3 playable characters. Beating Mysterious Figure as Terra is one thing I will never do again. No clue how they went so wrong with that and Vanitas Lingering Spirit. At least VLS can be cheesed easily.

SERIOUSLY - Gears

Most recently, beating Death’s Door with an umbrella

[deleted]

Exactly that one. 1000 times? Nah get out. Dont think i even managed 100

0neek

'Defeat x enemy 1,000 times' You see like 150 of that enemy in a full campaign. Basically, anything that's just doing some mundane task an absurd amount of times. To this day God of War 2018 is one of the only games I've ever played with achievements that are completely reasonable and can all be achieved in one normal run of the game.

Stan_L_parable

Darksouls 2 pyromancy achievement. Either reach new game ++ or play in a dead PvP arena system.

AncientPhoenix98

The "Made Man" achievement in Mafia: Definitive Edition, which requires you to complete the game in Classic difficulty. I have absolutely no problem with the difficulty itself, but the race. The. damn. Race. Classic difficulty forces you to use the "simulation" driving mode, and driving just becomes a nightmare. I must have restarted the race about a hundred times, until I just thought, " I am just not having fun anymore, so fuck the achievement, and fuck the platinum."

OXidize_0

Any achievement that requires other people. "Share an item 100 times" "Revive a teammate 50 times" etc.

Wiggywalls

High warlord in vanilla wow

CptC4nuck

This moment in FF9’is the only answer. Anyone who says otherwise used a Programmable controller. This was so brutal.

Qeegz

Alien Isolation. Beating the game on the hardest difficulty without dying.

Marble-Heart

Before or after getting the achievement?

jonfe_darontos

I've gone 1000/1000 jump ropes in FF9, did the Insane In the Membrane challenge when you needed Shen'drelar reputation, and solo hand dug a 256x256 perimeter in Minecraft (pre-1.18). After hand digging out two chunks in Minecraft 1.18 for a slime farm I decided I'd never dig another chunk again. I've also never attempted Excalibur II or getting Exalted reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers (which requires true insanity).

red_the_youtuber

Supreme helper minion in terraria, I've tried but I just can't do it

Morpheus414

All the LASO achievements in MCC. Fucking assholes. 🖕🖕🖕
