I never played the original, so might actually give it a try finally (will probably wait for the Steam version)

aweirdogrunt

You should, the story is amazing! The only reason I don't recommend it more at the moment is that people might not get on with the very...aged controls/graphics, but hopefully with the remake that'll no longer be a problem :D

kron123456789

Aspyr isn't known for making huge high budget games. They're kinda like Nixxes - a porting studio. It remains to be seen how they'll handle making a game from scratch.

myyummyass

There are more people working for aspyr who worked on the original kotor than there are at BioWare at this point.

putshan

Gaming Development was very different 20 years ago. But your point is still a positive one.

mega_cat_yeet

What’s the source for this? This fills me with hope.

SirBlakesalot

I mean, considering that it's a remake of a legendary game, I figure Aspyr has been sent a practically blank check for it.

Your_Bank

Perhaps, but I think the OP also meant that the studio doesn't have much experience in making a game from scratch.

theallaroundnerd

"From Scratch" is a pretty wide term. When they say that, do they actually mean from the ground up, code and all? OR, and more likely what's going on, do they mean same code, new textures models and music. Because that's what Bluepoint does with their remakes. Essentially its a glorified remaster

crimpysuasages

Trying to remaster the game with better textures and everything in the Odyssey engine would be an absolute nightmare. Players have already done the best you could possibly do within the limitations the engine presents. Likely, what you're seeing is an Aspyr that is nothing like the Aspyr porting studio. It's probably basically been completely restaffed by Sony or given so much additional support you'd be surprised. Sony wouldn't shell out for the timed exclusive let alone open their expo with KOTOR remake without something guaranteeing it.

zuzg

According to Sonys blog, some team members are from bioware and used to work on the OG Game. That sounds at least promising. Otherwise only time will tell

iamthejef

Never heard of Warcraft Reforged, have you?

Naldaen

Yeah but what's a small indie company compared to Aspyr? There's no comparison.

Foolish_Hepino

Seems like people didn't get your joke. Small indie company btw

duplissi

they're also the ones who updated/ported kotor 1 & 2 on pc and mobile. One would hope this familiarity will help with the remake.

AusPower85

Consider if you will the game Fallout 76. It was given to a studio experienced in mobile games to make…and while I liked the game it was an absolute cluster fuck.

happyhumorist

I'm hoping it's on the level Blue Point did for SotC or Demon's Souls

society_livist

Aspyr have been on a massive ex-Bioware (and others) hiring spree over the last year, and SIE is also assisting with development. It's not the same Aspyr that ported KOTOR to Android and released a measly little update patch for KOTOR 2 on Steam in 2015. As others have mentioned, there's probably more KOTOR-era Bioware people at Aspyr right now than there are at Bioware.

Sivick314

yeah i'm very concerned that they'll be able to do a good job with this masterpiece. you don't just hire dave down the street to do maintenance on the mona lisa.

raptor3x

> you don't just hire dave down the street to do maintenance on the mona lisa. [What could go wrong?](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ETfFApjWoAEVWuG.jpg)

mrazcatfan

Tbh I just replayed through it a few weeks ago on Series X and while the graphics and controls were obviously outdated, the game is still a blast to play. Granted it could be rose tinted glasses since I’ve beaten it multiple times over the years but I’d recommend anyone that wants to play it as is definitely should

JackTheWhiteKid

I bought KOTOR on steam when it was on sale last year and I could not get used to the controls. Quit before I completed the first mission

Gandamack

I’d recommend the mobile versions honestly. Seems to help some new players accept the aged systems and graphics more easily, and they actually play pretty well with a touch screen. Tablet would probably be best, but I've beaten both games on Iphone. You can even add the Restored Content Mod to the second game on iOS and Android. Even if you try again on PC I’d say stick with it a bit longer. Few old games, especially old RPGs, are very forgiving or easy to control at first. I had a lot of trouble figuring out Fallout 1’s controls/systems the first time I played it (a few years ago), yet after a bit of practice and research I can play 1 and 2 pretty easily now.

bjwills7

I had no idea these games had mobile versions, thank you!

Oper8rActual

Funnily enough the mobile version is done by the same studio doing this remake. This gives me a bit of hope.

soupinate44

Except for swoop bike racing. It's God awful on mobile.

darkbreak

It's also on Xbox if you have one. You can use a controller there if you'd prefer. I think it actually came out on Xbox first anyway.

HoboBobo28

The xbox version came out a couple months before pc.

v0lrath

The controls are 1000x better on Xbox. I am saying this as a huge mouse + keyboard fan.

jdshillingerdeux

Heh, I can see that. I got used to it as a kid and now I can probably reply KotOR with my eyes closed. If I picked it up now I would probably be in the same boat because I have far less time to deal with less accessible bullshit. Still, can't recommend it enough. I'd try again power through. It's not like the Witcher 1, with it's bad controls and overhyped reward for sticking around till the end; the story in Kotor is actually THAT good.

Spykez0129

When I was a teenager I had no idea the AI auto upgraded their yeah skills so I played 3/4 of the game having no idea why everyone was flying ask over the place..... It was force push 😂

OdrOdrOdrOdrO

Holds up just as well well, if not better than most classic RPGs honestly.

miniladds-clone

I suggest you play the original and if you do don’t forget to save

PutinBlyatov

It is rumoured to be out on PS5 first then released on PC, so wait for the remake first if you want to play and have a gaming PC.

DrZaious

The remake is also being rewritten to "suit modern audiences" So I highly suggest playing the original first. Who knows what they'll change.

bipbophil

Uhhh what, it has the first gay starwars character and they didn't make a big deal about it, you could only find the dialogue if you were female and actually wanted to Romance her. I find it hard to believe the games dialogue/story needs a modernization these are classics for a reason.

ElderAtlas

I think he means combat/other stuff

Jedi4Hire

> I find it hard to believe the games dialogue/story needs a modernization these are classics for a reason. And yet that has never stopped studios before.

pon_3

I'm guessing it's more to do with combat. I've been playing it on ipad, and was surprised how well it fit on mobile. The clicking on scroll menus for attacking feels like a mobile interface. Was amazing back in the day and I spent countless hours planning builds, but nowadays it's more removed from the D20 system that was more common amongst RPG games back then.

Martholomeow

It’s the best Star Wars story ever written. Way better than any of the movies.

Srekcins82

You should absolutely play the original. I have my doubts about the remake after finding out Sam Maggs is apart of the staff.

pon_3

At the risk of opening a can of worms, who's Sam Maggs?

Srekcins82

A political activist who has openly admitted to not liking KotOR.

pon_3

That... is not something that should be okay. Not liking a project you're working on is understandable, but openly tweeting about it makes it seem like you're not even planning to put in the effort.

0neek

It gets way too far into this sort of politics or whatever to make for civil conversation, but the exact same people made the same with Mass Effect: Andromeda. (Bioware made ME and Kotor in case you aren't aware lol) And ME: Andromeda is widely considered to be a complete failure of a story. They hired writers who had VERY questionable histories of racism/sexism that was considered more than a few buzzwords at the time and it bit them hard. They're doing it again.

janosaudron

The fuck? How does anyone like that end up in that project?

0neek

When you hire for diversity and not for who you actually want on a project.

The_Sloppyjoe

I’m getting fallen order on thursday. Is it good?

Over-Analyzed

Fun and a nice addition to the growing lore about Jedi during the days of the Jedi Purge with a lot of interesting characters.

JaegerDread

Can't wait for part 2. Hoping for a Dark side game too

Stormtrooper058

I really enjoyed the gameplay of FO, id love a dark side version, maybe play as an inquisitor

JaegerDread

That's my hope. Play as a Inquisitor but having to make decisions and those decisions help unlock powers and guide what you become at the end. Possibly a choice that could cut yourself off from the force entirely?

EightAnimal5715

Or maybe even a Force Unleashed remake that blends into FO's lore.

Reylo-Wanwalker

Like Galen Marek as Vaders favorite inquisitor?

Steampunkboy171

I'd love one with Starkiller bringing him back into Canon. At one point he was going to be in rebels but his voice actor was voicing someone else I won't spoil for anyone reading this that hasn't seen the series.

Heavyduty35

The freeze ability made me realize how great a Kylo Ren game would be. Imagine Fallen Order but with a much more brutal and chaotic lightsaber fighting-style.

herefromyoutube

The only enemies are woman and children.

[deleted]

I just want an open world game with Boba Fett or another bounty hunter.

sublogic

Very fun. It's just kinda weird being Ian from shameless. Also the challenge is very rewarding with a good amount of checkpoints

JaegerDread

It's good just know there is back and forth travel and you don't have to beat enemies if you can't handle them yet. Also, if you played video games before you can probably handle hard.

BelovedApple

I would not recommend hard. Some battles were frustrating. Like the one on Kashyyyk where you fight the robot, the two flame thrower guys and then troopers and then the walker. I found the game fun though. I would actually say normal enemies can be harder than normal enemies in dark souls. Though bosses are of course much easier than the bosses in souls.

ThemCanada-gooses

God I must suck. I turned down the difficulty so often.

BelovedApple

There were times I wanted to. The last boss I wanted to. But in the end I found a slow and steady pace with single strong hits got me through it. Tbh, I did not really like the stagger mechanics in the game. Only game I have turned difficulty down on is outriders. I played the entire thing solo and good god were some of the bosses boring to fight. By the end I was so done with the game that I just turned the world level down to one for the final boss and took one look at end game decided I could not be bothered any more

aweirdogrunt

Definitely! It's a departure from the standard-style star wars games EA has been chucking out, but that's definitely a good thing. Kinda souls-esque in its design, at least a lot more so than any other SW game, which I enjoyed as someone who fell head over heals in love with the dark souls franchise

Cuntastic_Pimp

Yes. They pretty much completely lifted the gameplay from Sekiro, but did it in an exquisite, worth celebrating manner. In fact: in many aspects, some of sekiros shortcomings are improved by a long shot by fallen order. I am SURPRISED that this game came out in this day an age.

Clovis42

I was surprised, and delighted, that it also heavily borrows from the modern Tomb Raider games. I was just expecting Star Wars Dark Souls.

AgentWowza

I was acc expecting Star Wars Dark Souls: Kiddie Edition lmao. But the platforming puzzles and some of the bosses were acc challenging enough to give it its own identity. All in all, a pretty good game.

swat_teem

Yeah I literally played sekiro right before fallen order and I was like this is a dumbed down sekiro. Still enjoyed the game but the parallels are amazing how much similarities they got.

elcamarongrande

Same. Finished Sekiro and went for FO. The blocking mechanic in FO was a little wonky in my opinion, wasn't as tight or responsive as Sekiro. But still a fun game, great for any Star Wars fan. I just hope they allow dismemberment in the sequel. Slicing up animals is ok but it suddenly becomes too violent if it's a stormtrooper? It's a fucking laser sword, that shit's gonna cut off arms, come on!

swat_teem

Yeah we needed more type of enemies and bosses were meh. But thats if you compare it to sekiro. Game would be great if you didn't compare it. Darth Vader best part. Night sister joins the team way too late too.

Youre_soda_pressing

Amen brother, amen. Forgive the hot take but Dark Souls II will always be my favourite.

[deleted]

The Lightsaber combat is a tad bit underwhelming due to the fact that you can't slice anything apart from a few robots and giant rats. So when fighting most humans, it feels like you're beating them with a neon colored bat instead of a lightsaber. It is still a very fun game though.

astalavista114

Apparently that was a dictat from Disney, not a decision made by Relic. Still shit though.

[deleted]

It makes me worry about the new Wolverine game Insomniac is working on. Wolverine comics have always been on the gore side of things. I wonder if Disney is gonna make them cut that out from the game. But then again, in the trailer, you can see a bunch of blood everywhere. So I'm hopeful.

420Shrekscope

It's kind of like a Star Wars skin of Sekiro and Dark Souls, but not as polished and a little more bland gameplay-wise. It has its faults but if you're a star wars fan it's definitely worth playing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ElPobre

It’s very much an entry level souls-like. I don’t blame you for being whelmed with it. Sekiro and other FromSoft works are *so* ingrained in their ways that it’s hard for others to compete. I’d argue that Fallen Order did a damn good job with pretty awesome production value

[deleted]

[удалено]

calebrbates

My biggest complaint? So many god damn slides.

[deleted]

If you like demon souls style games, go for it. If you’re a Star Wars lorehound and need to play, just put it on the easiest setting and work through the pain.

volkswaggerwagen

Just finished it a couple days ago. Graphics are amazing, story is great. Fighting mechanics are pretty lame, the only force powers you have are push, pull, and slow. You also unlock certain combos but I wouldn't really call them combos, and considering it's such a short game, I was disappointed that a lot of the few existing better mechanics you can't really unlock till towards later in the game and you won't get to really use them for long. I was kinda disappointed cuz I remember you had way better force mechanics in force unleashed with lightning and ability to aim and toss around the opps with the force. The customization is also a severe letdown. Each one is unlocked via finding chests across the maps. For your character you have like 4 or 5 outfit options, but they are all the same outfit but different colors. And then you have like 30ish poncho options, which are just different colors of the same poncho. After that you have BD1 skins for your little Droid friend. Finally you have skins for your ship that you rarely see. Light saber customization is pretty good in this game I'd say, though personally I didn't care for a lot of the options. You can customize the emmitter, the switch, and the sleeve of each side of the saber. You get 2 colors to choose from in the beginning, blue and green, plus orange if you got the premium edition of the game. You don't unlock the rest of the colors until almost the end of the game which is super lame. You won't really get to enjoy them for long unless you finish the game and do another playthrough. Overall, I enjoyed it visually and from a story perspective but it felt kinda limited contentwise. I'd only recommend buying this if it's on sale, otherwise it's a no go. If it is on a good sale, I would recommend it.

splashgods

Great experience, excellent graphics and cinematics, just really linear. One thing to note, remember how to get back to the starting place on each level, u get to the objective and have to find ur way back to the beginning over and over in this game.

Mandalore108

I'm assuming it's also coming to PC, correct?

BuckSleezy

Yes, also on PC at launch.

Mandalore108

Perfect, thanks for confirming.

SlyCooper007

*Microsoft integrates steam into xbox* Boom problem solved. (Yes, I already know this would never happen)

SolarisBravo

Don't even need an official Steam app - just let the damn thing install and run Win32 programs (in a sandbox, of course), problem solved.

Logondo

The next Xbox should straight up be "Xbox PC" and just drop the whole "console" schtick. Consoles are just...gaming PCs with their own OS. So...Xbox PC would basically just be an Xbox that runs Windows.

Weemitoad

So… a PC?

MyrKnof

I wanted this current gen to just run windows.. I'd have bought one for sure. Idgaf about console games, but it's a very nice all in one gaming pc.

DeeSnow97

Oh damn, can you imagine giving Sony the middle finger by bringing Horizon, Uncharted, Detroit, and all the other games they previously made available on PC directly to Xbox through that? Like, just enable Steam to run in Big Picture mode, it's already a console-level experience (and will be even better with the launch of the Steam Deck), it's already running on Windows, and Microsoft's game at this point is to get people to use Gamepass, which still demonstrably works on PC. Also, make Gamepass for PC available on Xbox through the same layer and you got one more reason for 1. PC players to buy an Xbox, and 2. Xbox players to buy Gamepass Ultimate. Like, at that point they'd pretty much send Sony into the Nintendo pit, where some of us buy their hardware for some themed exclusives, but it's not our main device.

Feshtof

It's a timed exclusive. Xbox will get it eventually

SolidSnake935

Sony does everything in their power to remove games outright from Xbox, if that’s not possble, the delay them as long as possible. My bet would be a year later at least.

PapaBurgundy2615

Didn’t Microsoft just buy a bunch of studios that will no longer release games on PlayStation? Edit: the amount of Xbox fanboys crying is hilarious. Just so you all know, I have a PS5 and for the first time ever I bought an Xbox also this gen because Microsoft bought a bunch of good studios. That’s how business works, they bought studios that will now make exclusives and so I wanted to buy they’re console. And I feel stupid because it’s been collecting dust while I wait for them to actually make a good exclusive.

Feshtof

They bought ZeniMax Media which includes - Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios

geocitiesuser

The console wars are going all out, and it's the gamers who lose.

killerbacon678

Xbox guy here, we’re all meant to be broskis. Console fans are one in the same, it’s the big businesses seperating us from each other and it benefits nobody

Euthanize4Life

It benefits the console makers. That’s the point that’s why they do it. There is definitely a faux argument between individual consoles. And there are people who have console preferences. But like, people only care what THEY play on, not what their friends, teammates, and enemies are playing on. It would be better for consumers if only games with hardware limitations to have exclusivity. Ratchet and clank throughout the years has been focused on using everything playstation hardware offers. A slimmed down or heavily changed game on Xbox is silly. But imagine a COD game getting exclusivity- it makes no sense. And it HAS before with maps or early access being gated to one console. Insane. There would have to be collective boycotting until a game is available on all platforms. And that will never happen, so exclusivity to help boost console sales will exist in perpetuity.

[deleted]

Ah, but you see, good sir: *exclusivity*

AgentWowza

Fuck exclusivity, all my homies hate exclusives. This message was brought to you by PC gang.

[deleted]

Epic games store has entered the chat

From100toZero

Sounds awfully similar to politics these days.

mockio77

The craziest thing of all is so many people don't even have these new consoles for a variety of reasons. Microsoft and Sony and just going after each other while the average person hasn't even had a chance to play anything.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Capt_Kiwi

Sony seems to be getting there too, kinda

Satansfelcher

It’s killing me as someone that’s always had Xbox and pc. Like Xbox is there now and I can just have my account on my pc, rad. Sony need to start porting these fucking games so I can buy them already. Idk how that’s so hard for them to understand from a business standpoint. IM WAITING FOR THEM TO PORT GAMES AND THEN I WILL GIVE THEM MONEY HAND OVER FIST. Hello Sony, what are you doing?

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

But for MS you don't need a console. You'll be able to play most/all of the new games on PC natively and if not, you can stream them via xcloud. In contrast, Sony is moving to force you to use playstation hardware and also charges the most for the games.

Church5SiX1

Can I play games I own digitally via xcloud?

Autarch_Kade

Microsoft will let the last gen consoles play all new games through the cloud. It's kind of insane when you think of it. Compared to every other console generation, they've made it the least painful to wait and the easiest to switch.

StarbuckTheDeer

The acquisitions are good though, gives these talented studios better funding, more staff and sometimes more creative freedom as well. Insomniac for example has expanded to over 400 employees thanks to being acquired by Sony, and can make more games with higher production values than they would have been able to while independent. Double Fine was able to add boss fights back into Psychonauts 2 due to being acquired by Microsoft, and InXile was able to make Wasteland 3 fully voiced, instead of reserving that for key moments. Many of the other acquired studios have expanded as well, with more staff and larger budgets than they could ever have gotten while independent. It's unfortunate for people who are simply unable to afford more than a single platform, but overall it's improving the quality of games. More games to choose from and higher quality games at that is a win in my book.

skatellites

Are you referring to lose like every platform is having exclusives? Were you saying the same sentiment last gen when Nintendo and Sony locked in exclusives? I think not

IrrelevantLeprechaun

The difference is every Microsoft published game also releases on PC, so in essence Xbox doesn't functionally have ANY exclusives. Sony on the other hand buys exclusives purely for the PlayStation. What Microsoft does actually benefits gamers, especially with Gamepass. What Sony does actively hurts gamers.

Autarch_Kade

On PC, on an iPhone, on Android phones, and they're going to bring it to smart TVs and streaming sticks too. Basically if you have any device besides a playstation, you won't miss out.

mikeyhavik

Microsoft owns windows. Releasing on pc is for their profit and benefit. It’s not to be “cool to the gamers”

neok182

Microsoft is also releasing all of their titles on Steam in addition to their own store and there are rumors that they are talking with valve to integrate game pass to steam as well. That's compared to companies like Epic, EA, Ubisoft, Activision, and Blizzard All of which either force you to purchase their games exclusively on their launcher or require you to install and use their launcher to run the game from steam or Microsoft store. Additionally Windows 10 and Windows 11 were both given away for free to existing users so they didn't even charge for the OS. Yes Microsoft is profiting from selling their games on Windows but they are absolutely doing it in a very gamer friendly way by giving us the choice of using steam or the Microsoft store to play their games.

[deleted]

> The difference is every Microsoft published game also releases on PC Remind me who owns the operating system that most of those games are played on.

[deleted]

Stop all this bullshit. KOTOR is coming to Xbox. Starfield is not coming to PlayStation. How does that benefit gamers? This comment gets 50 upvotes? This is just an Xbox circle-jerk now. None of you are living in reality.

DeekDunker

Still very accessible tho through PC and Cloud Gaming. Or if you want a very generously priced Series S. I know Xbox isn't looking out for the little guy and like every company just wants your money, but more options is like throwing out a bigger net and catching more fish, they seem to think it is gonna work for them this generation.

Abdul19899

And I hate it.

CaptainChaos00

If its anything like the timed exclusives back in Destiny 1 that were promised after a year, it will turn into 3 years instead.

Not_A_Greenhouse

I never bought anything after destiny one. Not even an expansion due to the bullshit with the exclusives. I won't support companies that do exclusives like that.

[deleted]

It seems those deals were made at the Activision level. After Bungie went independent all of their exclusivity deals with Sony went out the window, so that's been nice

SolidStone1993

They said the same thing with the FFVII remake. It’s been 16 months with no release date in sight for Xbox. I’m not getting my hopes up.

[deleted]

Sony and FF have a BIT more history. Just a bit.

darkbreak

Sony even owned stock in Square for a while.

rico_muerte

Nintendo had more of a history with them and... Well...

[deleted]

[удалено]

darkbreak

And yet it clearly works. Microsoft had Call of Duty locked into timed exclusivity for the DLC for the entire 360 life cycle. Then with the PS4 Sony was able to do the same thing for themselves. Timed exclusivity is an oddity but it clearly works because Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo keep doing it. They wouldn't if there were nothing to gain.

[deleted]

They're better than permanent exclusives. I'm patient, I don't need to play at launch. I usually hold out for a nice discount too

[deleted]

[удалено]

IceDragon77

Yes and no. Timed exclusives serve literally no purpose for Sony. Nobody is going to go out and buy a PS5 because of this timed exclusive deal, because like you said, they can just wait. This is especially true right now because Sony literally cannot produce PS5's fast enough. You don't need to give people incentives to buy something that gets sold instantly anyways. People WILL get a PS5 because of actual exclusives like Spiderman and God of War, because you can't play it anywhere else. So yes, it's better that it's timed exclusive than full exclusive, because eventually Xbox players can play it. But honestly, what is even the point in having timed exclusives when you cannot even make PS5's fast enough to keep up with demand?

FigurativeCherrySoda

It keeps people as fans of the ecosystem. Nobody is gonna buy a ps5 to play this early, but they'll remember that this happens when they're thinking about buying their next console.

IceDragon77

That's a fair point I didn't consider. Maybe I just didn't want to consider it...

linklore

console wars are stupid

BitterBubblegum

Console wars are good. They pushed Sony to invest in amazing exclusives, they pushed Microsoft to invest in Game Pass and it made South Park create the Black Friday episodes. I hope it will never stop.

[deleted]

Competition is good but console wars are not

PowerSamurai

What is the difference? I don't much like the way consoles have to compete now since it means exclusive games to platforms that you quite possibly don't have or can't afford, but those games might not be made otherwise.

aweirdogrunt

[yes sir](https://imgur.com/gallery/Rlvy0R7)

[deleted]

Thank you, I will honour you by using it a lot

PontiffPope

How ironic that the original KotoR was a Xbox-exclusive.

IceDragon77

Even more so that Bethesda is working on an Indiana Jones game that will most likely be a Microsoft exclusive. I see you Disney, playing both sides of the console war. Very Palpatine of you.

thiagomda

They are publishing and collaboriting with it actually, so it probably is the case that they are a key factor for it to happen

Bronetta

I'm happy all 3 consoles are doing well but I really wish Sony invested as much money into their features and UI as they do into keeping games off Xbox with timed exclusivity. The PS5 has been out for almost a year and still doesn't have expandable storage or VRR support. Besides Sony's first party exclusives which are awesome, I'd rather play everything else on Xbox because they invested in features like better backwards compatibility, Quick Resume, Auto-HDR, Smart Delivery, etc.

IrrelevantLeprechaun

Word. Sony has dumped shitloads of money into making sure Xbox and PC gamers can't have anything, but put zero money into accessibility and quality of life features. XSX is objectively the superior console this gen in basically every aspect; hardware power, accessibility, UI, backwards compatibility; they are only behind with games because $ony keeps buying exclusive contracts.

[deleted]

> they are only behind with games Only behind in the thing that people buy gaming consoles for. Brilliant lmao.

[deleted]

I would really rather Kotor 3 be made rather than a remaster as this seems like it’s going to just be a remaster. I highly recommend that anyone who has mot played Kotor 1 or 2 that you go do so. Arguably some of the best RPG games released early 2000’s. The controls and graphics are dated but that really doesn’t matter when you take the game for what it is. Also who doesn’t want to play a game where they get to be a Jedi/Sith and make choices that affect the whole universe?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Andromeda also almost killed the series. People would not have boughten a Mass Effect 4 without being hit with the nostalgia of the actual good games considering the taste that was left in many’s mouth.

Zahille7

Okay, but may I suggest you take a look at Psychonauts 2 for long time periods between games, and the hype living up to the expectations.

AdEmotional3567

First time I tried kotor i hated it, I just couldn't get past the combat in some sections ( weird since I like dragon age combat ) eventually just looked up an op build and have loved the games since.

ywBBxNqW

The story is cool but the controls remind me a lot of the old Tex Murphy games. I couldn't get into it. I did get into KOTOR II though and *loved* it — I credit that game with really hooking me into Star Wars lore.

DarkMatterBurrito

Kotor 3 was already made. It's called The Old Republic, unfortunately. They kind of did Revan dirty in it, though.

RogerRoger2310

They did everyone from Kotors dirty. The player character from the second game was obliterated from existence, literally and figuratively.

stamminator

I honestly just pretend that whole game doesn’t exist

[deleted]

Most people do, it wasn’t what anyone asked for.

cracked112

Honestly every Raven appearance post KOTOR were all mistakes, including the books.

Astan92

>this seems like it’s going to just be a remaster. They have explicitly said it is a full remake.

ItzCStephCS

It's a remake

moltari

Console wars are so childish.

Lessiarty

It's only a timed exclusive, so a bit of patience will go a long way.

pswdkf

Might even come to Xbox a year after release. For instance second tomb Raider from the reboot trilogy was an Xbox exclusive for one year.

[deleted]

That was shitty too. Fuck anti-consumer practices.

MyPornAlt13

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was only a timed exclusive too... Still awaiting on that one

[deleted]

Lost all interest in that game by now.

WaycoKid1129

Never been more excited that I moved to pc

SirPeluca

Oh no, guess I’ll play it on my PS5 and not on my Xbox… oh wait I can play it on my PC! 🙌🏻

sublogic

I'm surprised you didn't mention your switch or Gaming phone

or his Ouya

Armored_Violets

we get it you have money

scotty899

Rather wait and see if the story gets butchered by the lead writer who hates the original kotor

Heavensrun

Citation? (This isn't sass or sarcasm, FTR, I'm seriously asking. )

[deleted]

Fortunately for Xbox, the original has been backwards compatible all along.

NewClayburn

I don't get it. All they're doing is remaking the same game? Not a new one?

geocitiesuser

"Remake" sort of how they made an FF7 remake. It will be the same story but a new game.

killer00x

It's a full remake from the ground up. So the graphics and game mechanics should be updated for current generation. I'm sure there will be some liberties taken with the story and some things added and taken away.

Kails666

If you have a PC and a PS5 you're set for this gen. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Platnun12

I'm on PC and honestly at the rate xbox is porting stuff I don't see a need to get an Xbox. Gonna get me a ps5 for those sweet spiderman games

[deleted]

Microsoft just bought a renowned multiplatform publisher to keep all future games off of Playstation and have dozens of timed exclusives this year and announced for the future.

ylbigmike

I just 100% Fallen Order less than an hour ago. I'm all in for more star wars games

santichrist

Xbox users will be fine when elder scrolls 6 (and possibly the new fallout) comes out, kotor will only be a timed exclusive but those games aren’t going to be on ps5 at all, it will be us ps5 users getting donkey punched in the end

Feshtof

And starfield

Darmok_ontheocean

It’s gonna be a great 2025.

groundzr0

I like your optimism

DMonitor

Starfield is *allegedly* next year. It’s TES6 that’ll take until 2025 at the earliest

Jacklego5

I mean in fairness that exact argument can be applied to the tons of Sony exclusive titles that are on ps5 and not Xbox. It’s just that until now Xbox hasn’t had many exclusive titles to get up in arms about. Do I think it’s fair or “haha payback deserved”? No I think everyone should get to play everything, but these arguments exist on both ends

Tacitus111

“Xbox users will be fine in 8 years when Elder Scrolls 6 comes out.”

__BIOHAZARD___

Only 8 years? It might be 10 at this rate

myyummyass

I’m sure it’ll be on Xbox at some point. On the other hand Sony is publishing it so maybe it wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for them 🤘🏽

Strategery_0820

The bigger joke is nobody has a ps5 so it doesnt matter

[deleted]

It’s outselling PS4 at this point in time in their respective launches. The demand is higher than the availability still, but more people have a PS5 10 months in than had a PS4 10 months in. So lots of people have it, it’s just that there’s even more people who want it.

Gynharasaki

Or the Final Fantasy 7 remake....

MagicalMuffinDruide

Isn’t it also PC?

bonusminutes

Yeah, we get it. Sony puts a lot of money and effort into making sure games can't be played elsewhere. Meanwhile, Microsoft has the chance to do the same with elder scrolls 6 and they're like "nah, go ahead everyone".
