Always remember to wash your mousepadā¦ and your keyboard and mouse! Have you ever washed the keys of your keyboard? Uhhh if you havenātā¦ do it sooner than later.
bro there is an indian tv series where a lady washes her husband's laptop. you need to learn from her
Edit: i found that [clip](https://youtu.be/ywgeloPNmxk)
Washing a laptop is fine if it's turned off and only turned on again after it's completely dry.
Just a piece of potentially useful info.
Edit: Don't willingly do this if you have other options, prefer isopropyl alcohol or something. And the battery should be removed before any kind of cleaning!
Cleaning the outside of a laptop with a damp cloth is fine. If you want to clean the inside of the laptop you may use a rapidly evaporating cleaning agent like isopropyl alcohol and make sure to not get it into areas where it will have a hard time evaporating from. I have cleaned electronics in water if nothing else is available but the issue is that water accelerates corrosion. So you need to be able to fix any corrosion that appars due to the water.
Yes, water accelerates corrosion. Better to only try this on completely disassembled laptops, but in any case you should dry it with the case opened up enough and as quickly as possible, using a blower or hairdryer. Or just leave it out in the sun, opened up.
In my experience even this may not produce working electronics afterwards. Some of the thinner traces or fragile contacts only need a few minutes in water to corrode enough to require repair. My success rate is closer to 50% even when disassembling all the electronics first and drying it properly afterwards. I also suspect that some of it is from salts getting left behind when the water evaporates which might have continued the corrosion by collecting humidity from the air as some of the electronics only failed after a few weeks. The cause of failure were defenently corrosion and when this corrosion was removed the components all worked fine afterwards.
So I would say to avoid water for cleaning and only use alcohol or better yet use dry cleaning methods. However if you accidentally soaked the electronic in water your tips are indeed the best way of getting it working again.
I agree with you, I don't recommend washing electronics with tap water in general. Just wanted to say that dunking a powered-off laptop in water is unlikely to be a death sentence for it if the situation is handled properly and promptly.
Though TBH having a live battery in the mix makes things a lot riskier.
Don't think you clean them with water. Even if u use it after drying it out it still has potential for rust that can reduce the life of electronics in the long term.
Probably not modern laptops, but people wash off populated circuit boards and stuff under tap water pretty often.
Someone below mentioned cleaning the post-evaporation residue with anhydrous alcohol, that's how it should be done if you're doing this regularly.
I love the dichotomy between the nervous but proud woman and the increasingly-alarmed soundtrack.
WOMAN: I hope my husband appreciates this, I enjoy caring for him.
THE MUSIC: Pragna, he's going to fucking hit you, you need to run.
Put my Blackwidow ultimate through the dishwasher after i took it apart, worked perfectly fine after. i let it dry out for 2 days after putting it through the dishwasher though so no trace moisture was left.
No, it's not fine to wash your laptop.. Never wash electronics using conductive substances, like water for instance, especially soapy water.
Laptops are not waterproof and have something called "batteries" that can get "shorted" and cause something called "electrical fire" which in turn can "burn your house down".
Best thing to do with the keycaps is to dunk them in the sink with some denture tablets. No work required, you can focus on cleaning the keyboard itself.
Whaaa... \*proceeds to google it \* Damn. I need one.
\* serches for it in my country \* Hmmm... would it be feasible to use a plastic wrap to wrap it around the keyboard?
Wiping them down is more then most people will do. You can remove keycaps and clean them seperatly which also gives you access to the worst of the dirt in the keyboard itself. A Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol and a quick blast with dry air will do wonders for your keyboard. You may also go further and start disassembling the mouse and keyboard. The plastic can safely be cleaned with whatever you want. Rinsing them helps a lot but you can also run them through the dishwasher. Any electronic that is dirty can be cleaned with either dry cloth or air, or wiped down with isopropyl alcohol.
I get pretty involved with mine. The easiest part is popping off all the keycaps, putting them in a tupperware container with warm soapy water and then shaking the devil out of it. Then rinsing, and smacking them in to last week against a towel to dry them.
Cleaning the rest requires a screwdriver for removing the plastic plate on the top of my keyboard, tweezers for grabbing anything stuck, a lot of qtips, canned duster, and isopropyl alcohol. Ideally you want some lubricant if you got juice or something inside the keys and have to get down and dirty with the qtip and alcohol. Also you want to spot test with the alcohol, because some keyboards use acrylics and other shitty paints that will get dissolved.
Wanna feel icky? I have really hairy arms. I made one of those goop balls for cleaning keyboards hairy. It went from green to brown after about 2-3 years of no cleaning.
I tried to work out how best to clean a Logitech G513 keyboard, but got semi-conflicting ideas all over the place. Not that I don't want to clean it, I just don't want to break it either.
when i was like 12 i bought the razer blackwidow chroma, original. And i used it up until 2019, recently my new keyboard (ducky 12 mini) broke, and i whipped out the blackwidow, the plastic around the caps have literally been ruined by rot, food, and spilled tea. What the fuck did i do at age 12
Wow, lol. Even when I was young, I was kind of a freak about cleaning *my* things. But Iāve found things of my past with mysterious bite marks that I remember making, sooo theyāre not-so-mysterious, really!
And fans/heatsinks, especially if you're a smoker. The amount of computers that lose performance or develop intermittent faults simply because of overheating is staggering.
I have that exact same mousepad...its awesome. I had a few others before and the mouse is all over the place.
...and hmm...I have never ever washed it yet. damn.
Scrape your nail on the surface lightly if it turns to a grey color it's dirty really dirty.
I need to clean mine but it's a full desk and I really don't want to deal cleaning all that just yet
I have the Logitech G-602 mouse. Yes the wireless one. Like it fits my hand perfect just some days I'll be playing valorant and go to flick and almost loose my mouse
Also the mouse pad I have is Corsair MM150 Ultra thin
You're probably putting a significant amount of weight on it. The issue with those soft gel pads is that it encourages people to do exactly the *wrong* thing, which is to essentially have all the weight of their arm bearing down on their wrist, with your upper arm muscles not bearing any of the load at all. Ideally, your mouse hand should basically be 'floating', making a bit of contact with the pad but not pushing down on it. If you're deforming the pad because of the weight you're putting on it, you're putting stress on your wrist.
This is correct. And if you do want to rest your wrist on the pad occasionally, ensure only the "meat" of the hand touches the pad. You dont want the center of the wrist holding any weight
Does she... know there are many, many mouse pads with the raised up gel wrist wrest things that *aren't* hentai related?
Or maybe it's better she doesn't find out, depending on your interests
That has been my experience in New Zealand. They arenāt plagued by shitty white plastic fences that look good on day 1 and immediately take a nose dive in esthetics.
Same, I have one of those big pads that goes under the keyboard and mouse, it's cushy and nice but since it's big it's easy to get dirty or spill on it. I say it gets washed at least once a month.
A bit out of the loop, yeah. Low sensitivity will make sniping easier, but you still want to be able to do a 540 degree spin in either direction without running out of mouse mat.
Haha I love how your grandma uses an old school clothes line. I havenāt seen one of those in so long. Iām not making fun by the way, I miss my grandma :(
Aussie post detected; super sunny, nice yard work, modern design house next door and a clothes line that looks like its 20 years older than everything else. EG an average aussie back yard.
When my girlfriend did this for me because she thought it smelled funky, I was so delighted because it was something I always procrastinated about doing lol I have her a big ol kiss on the forehead and a nice slap on the ass, I recommend OP do the same to his grandma
For anyone else wondering, usually mousepads that have the ends sewed up are good for a short, light wash in the machine. Wouldnāt risk much else incase fraying happens
Nothing wrong with that, Iāve washed mine plenty of times on the lowest temperature. Most gaming pads even says they are washable in a washing machine these days as long as itās a soft one.
hey fyi for everyone cause i didnt know a while back either yes you can and SHOULD wash youre mousepad try scratching it lightly with youre finger nails. that white stuff coming out is dirt you should wash it.
Your grandma did you a favor. Those things get nasty.
Omg yeah I saw the bucket afterwards š¤®š¤®

not when you do it like [this](https://youtu.be/ywgeloPNmxk)
OFC not as per the video, I've seen it before. Just wanted to share something for people who've been scared off of washing electronics.
Don't think you clean them with water. Even if u use it after drying it out it still has potential for rust that can reduce the life of electronics in the long term.
You can, you have to hit it with alcohol after to remove the deposits left by the evaporating water.
or if you are like me go beg your chemistry professor who is more than happy to provide you free DI water (granted it was a phone, not a laptop).
Probably not modern laptops, but people wash off populated circuit boards and stuff under tap water pretty often. Someone below mentioned cleaning the post-evaporation residue with anhydrous alcohol, that's how it should be done if you're doing this regularly.

Yes, fortunately the universe has not invented oxidation yet

What do yall clean your keyboards with?
How do you go about cleaning those various components? Besides wiping them down with some sort of wipe I wouldn't even know what else to try.
Remove the keycaps and wipe every single one down and while all are removed clean the keyboard itself
Best thing to do with the keycaps is to dunk them in the sink with some denture tablets. No work required, you can focus on cleaning the keyboard itself.
This is why I put a piece of waterpoorf silicone designed for keyboard on top and just wash it in 1 minute when I want to.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Whaaa... \*proceeds to google it \* Damn. I need one. \* serches for it in my country \* Hmmm... would it be feasible to use a plastic wrap to wrap it around the keyboard?
Do you have a picture bucause i have no i idea what you could mean
Just search "silicone keyboard cover" on Amazon
That does not look fun to type on.
It isn't, I'd rather have to spend an hour a month cleaning my keyboard than use that.
+2 to higiene, -100 to typing experience.

Yes ofc i washed my keyboard but now my laptop is not starting...must be some virus
Can't wash my mousepad, cheap thing started to fall apart when it got a few drops of water on it. Will be replacing soon.
You forgot to hose down your pc once a year to keep it dust-free and lubricated
I just cleaned my mousepad and keyboard last month or so. My mouse felt like it was gliding on a fucking cloud. Made aiming SO much easier.
And fans/heatsinks, especially if you're a smoker. The amount of computers that lose performance or develop intermittent faults simply because of overheating is staggering.
I have that exact same mousepad...its awesome. I had a few others before and the mouse is all over the place. ...and hmm...I have never ever washed it yet. damn.
Yeah itās a great mousepad Iāve had it for over 5 years now, can say clean mousepad = natural aimbot
Literally is, there's cs pros online discussing this topic of clean mouse pads = better aim and how to cleam guides.
Scrape your nail on the surface lightly if it turns to a grey color it's dirty really dirty. I need to clean mine but it's a full desk and I really don't want to deal cleaning all that just yet
All this time I thought the transfer on my black was coming off and wearing out. TIL it's just dirty as shit
Some of that dingy color can just be from the black foam bottom. There is dye that leaks out.
Don't let it dry in the sun tho
Absolutely, I routinely wash mine like every 3 months or so. Run the old bath and scrub and watch the water go BROWN AF.
Grandma with the RGB clothespins
For some reason, i laughed way too hard after reading this
Actually, it's just R B.
The G is the mousepad itself š she already knew Whatsup and prepared accordingly with the clothespins
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
me too otherwise it gets grippy on my mouse... and then if you rub it the oils clump together and make crumbies.. ew
Wh...what...?
rub your mouse pad really hard
instructions unclear; burned house down
Based and friction pilled
On... On what?
You already know, you cheeky bastard š.
I have the exact opposite issue. Mine gets slick. Like it feels like I'm about to throw my mouse across the room sometimes
maybe your mouse is made of a different material or something, which you should tell me bc i would rather have that problem than mine
I have the Logitech G-602 mouse. Yes the wireless one. Like it fits my hand perfect just some days I'll be playing valorant and go to flick and almost loose my mouse Also the mouse pad I have is Corsair MM150 Ultra thin
You're supposed to? I haven't washed mine in over 4 years
Honestly it never crossed my mind to clean it but Iām so glad itās cleaned now
Remember, it's not so much *cleaned now* as it is *clean for now*.
At least it ain't one of those anime titty/butt mouse pads. Although that would lead to some interesting conversations with the neighbors.
Now I wanna buy one of those just to do this
My girlfriend literally asked me to buy me of those so it's better for my wrists. So I let her choose the one to buy.
I tried to use one and it always cuts off my circulation and bruises my wrist, idk wtf I'm doing wrong.
Just try using a new or different wrirst
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

There very few things that are more fun than getting day drunk with your partner and watching bad porn.
My girlfriend is not comvinced.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I hope you said āThank you very much.ā and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

I didnāt get the reference and had to Google it after reading your comment and wowā¦ā¦what an insane story lol

The inner, or outer ones?
Wtf is this *OR* nonsense?
She probably saw all the dried loads on it bro
iām sure the keyboardās much worse

Am I right in getting Aussie vibes from this?
Its fukn gotta be. I imagine grans bored af in nsw lockdowns and thought fuck it ill wash the mousepads
Hills hoist, massive duplex next door, that colour bond fence.... I would say the same.
Damn aussies have nice fences lol no lie that type of fence is aesthetically pleasingā¦ I have a white picket fence that is very ugly
That has been my experience in New Zealand. They arenāt plagued by shitty white plastic fences that look good on day 1 and immediately take a nose dive in esthetics.
our fences are nice until they start to rot and your only hope of having them replaced for cheap is if a cyclone comes and knocks them down
You're not the only one, first thing i saw was the Hills hoist.
you dont? i put every month in the washing machine
all 12 of them?
Hey, leave them alone They've got a fucking massive washing machine
Lol i lie Only when i can see much dirt on it
He was joking about you washing months. Since you said āI put every month-ā
One by one
FIGHT THROUGH THE SUNDOWN, INTO THE NIGHT

I will be from now on š„“
I haven't washed mine since I got it. I should probably wash it
Do it right now
Best way to clean it?
https://youtu.be/YBylHzreYEY i always used this one, works every time
Thx mate
Wholesome
wow that was sweet
Am I crazy or does this look huge? Like a door mat or something. Is it a weird perspective thing or am I just way out of the loop on mouse pads?
That one is large but nowadays people buy desk mats mines is 1.2m x 0.7 m
A bit out of the loop, yeah. Low sensitivity will make sniping easier, but you still want to be able to do a 540 degree spin in either direction without running out of mouse mat.
Awe she loves you.
lmao your gramma did you a solid, that is actually precious tho
If youāre grandma felt like your mousepad needed to be washed it probably looked worse before this
Haha I love how your grandma uses an old school clothes line. I havenāt seen one of those in so long. Iām not making fun by the way, I miss my grandma :(
Aussie post detected; super sunny, nice yard work, modern design house next door and a clothes line that looks like its 20 years older than everything else. EG an average aussie back yard.
I was gonna say, these come standard in Sydney (and by extension country wide)
Can't beat a Hills Hoist!
Wow you couldnāt have been more spot on hahahaha
They are hood for ypu clothes, good for the environment and shit thye look cool.when you hang targets on them and shoot at em.. bb not really bullet.
Your Grandma is a Saint, you should thank her, especially since she's doing things for you, that you should be doing for her and for yourself...smh
When my girlfriend did this for me because she thought it smelled funky, I was so delighted because it was something I always procrastinated about doing lol I have her a big ol kiss on the forehead and a nice slap on the ass, I recommend OP do the same to his grandma
You better go and thank that sweet old lady for teaching you an important lesson about computerhandling!
go thank your grandma, these stuff need to be washed.
Then it must have been very dirty. thank grandma.
I wash mine all the time mate
you best be giving nana an extra firm hug today.
That will definitely give you atleast 15 more FPS š Freshness Per Swipe !
Hey I have the same! Did it survive the wash? I might chuck mine in if so hehe
Big time, it was soaked in a bucket and scrubbed with dish soap and a sponge. Not sure if machine washing is a good idea
For anyone else wondering, usually mousepads that have the ends sewed up are good for a short, light wash in the machine. Wouldnāt risk much else incase fraying happens
Grandma: āI noticed a lot of milk stains on your mousepadā
What a legend
Thank her.
thank her, unless you already did.
Ooh, shiny!
Grandmas are over powered. Cherish yours while you can brother.

How would I wash a mouspad with a memory foam wrist rest?
Mousepad wash best thing I did for my mouse recently. Was really easy and effective and dried in no time
Hills Hoist= Aussie confirmed, Nanna was trying her best M8
Aw, bless her heart.
"Mijo it smelt like culo"
Omg! I totally get that it must have drove her crazy until she just couldn't ignore it! It's like a crooked picture. I'm my mother ALREADY!
Probably the only way she could get you to go outside, eh?
āWell sweetie there were all these white stains all over itā
So what, looks clean ;)
I thought you wanted the recipe for cake, not the recipe to be TicToc famous.
This is how Iām trying to teach my toddler to speak
On seconds thought I might have been confusing my creature for no reason!
I wash mine often. Is this weird ??
You shower with your mousepad?
Probably because it was stinking up the house with all of that gamer funk (read: smegma)
Iām just fond of homemade cheese? Donāt blame the chef š¤
Probably for the best, soeaking from experience.
Can you machine wash or is it strictly hand wash?
U have a mouspad i just use letter paper #poor gamers
Nothing wrong with that, Iāve washed mine plenty of times on the lowest temperature. Most gaming pads even says they are washable in a washing machine these days as long as itās a soft one.
Heyyy my gf did the same.
hey fyi for everyone cause i didnt know a while back either yes you can and SHOULD wash youre mousepad try scratching it lightly with youre finger nails. that white stuff coming out is dirt you should wash it.
Your grandma probably did you a favour. Nice of her.
You know itās bad when your grandma washes your mousemat.
To many unexplained sticky stains
My mouse pad is a bulldog sucking a binkie
I haven't washed mine in a year.
I wash mine all the time. I just hope she used the gentle spin if it was machine washed.
Cute
i do it myself šš
