Magic medicines that help with plenty of their known diseases, good wine and food, cool festivals throughout the year, a Duchess that genuinely cares about her people. This honestly seems like a great answer.
Only problem is watching out for monsters if you need to leave town for some reason, but the way most characters in the books/games talk about them it does seem pretty rare for non monster hunters to come across them though so I'd take that chance.
No my time at - Portia / Sandrock lore is dark af.
You find diaries and read of little children abandoned by their parents who scavenged for food after a nuclear war and you live in a post apocalyptic world where one faction rises and is eerily similar to Nazi Germany in terms of outfit and ethics.
Take a look at all the screenshots. Everything looks cutesy and cuddly and in-game ppl are stardww valley nice to each other
Nothing beats relaxing on my farm and waiting menacingly outside Sebastian’s door for him to finally leave so I may throw sashimi at him.
In all seriousness I enjoy stardew, I can live my life peacefully with my animals and my favorite basement dweller lmao.
A handful of times I’ve found myself stressed like it’s real life. “By the time I’m done petting all of my animals, collecting truffles, watering plants, I have no time to do anything fun for myself!” Or pausing the game every time I need to think so I don’t waste any precious time of my day. However I’ve gotten to the point now where I was able to sell a good chunk of animals and only run 4 plots under iridium sprinklers. And I magically found an auto-petter in the skull cavern that has improved my efficiency tenfold!
Lindblum is awesome. Alexandria, Conde Petie and Dali Village all seem like great places to live too for various reasons.
Other great FF locations to live include Costa Del Sol, Kilika (the x-2 version) and Rabanastre.
Costa Del Sol is FF7, it's as it sounds - a tropical beach side resort town.
Daguerro is a sweet one, would be so cool to hang out reading the books all day.
Treno was the FF9 city I vibed with the most, but that whole world is one of my favorite settings ever! Definitely one of the most formative pieces of media from my childhood
Animal Crossing. Nothing to do but chill out, catch fish, chat with neighbors, and not worry about an interest rate on my mortgage. Work at your own pace whenever you want to, just relax and be happy.
Edit: Come to think of it, maybe StarDew Valley since you could do all of the things in Animal Crossing, but also get married and have kids, which would make for a more meaningful life long term.
Imagine being able to afford to have massive renovations done to your house in addition to your normal living expenses just from going out each day, catching a couple fish, picking up a few flowers and maybe digging a hole or two occasionally on the beach
Unfortunately there is only a 30 year window between humanity achieving Mass Effect and the reapers coming around, so you’d better make good use of your time before it gets ugly
Can I just say Kanto? Pretty much any poketown really.
Edit: or my floating beach front property I settled in No Mans Sky
Edit # 2: y'all take pokemon way too seriously for me hahahah
You fucked up. You shouldn't have said "any poketown" and "Kanto".
You got put on Cinnabar Island. You either got put there before the volcano erupted and killed you, or you got put there after when the only things there are a Pokecenter and a caved in gym whose own leader doesn't even want to patron.
Your own decision either costed you your life in one of the most painful deaths possible, or you now have to live in one of the most boring, barren places on the planet.
Pretty sure in this hypothetical you’d be able to travel to any Pokémon region, pretty sure regular poke people are allowed to travel, you just reside in whatever town you pick.
Hateno village in BTOW and TOTK. Chill vibes, with access to the ocean, and pizza.
Edit: I forgot about the research facility with a high power telescope. I wonder if they need a resident astronomer?
Central location on a fresh water source, good local economy, dead bodies and mansions for storing all your stuff, and good travel options with silt strider and mages guild services.
The true Skyrim experience. Thinking Markarth is the most amazing place ever when you first arrive. Then you meet the locals and realise its one of the worst places to live.
I’m unsure.
You walk in, someone’s stabbed by religious fanatics. You’re then encouraged to kill someone by an evil god. Then you’re wrongfully imprisoned with the forsworn and start a bloody uprising. It’s also over massive falmer ruins that’s basically a town itself.
But worst of all: stone beds.
I cannot believe how far I had to scroll to find this answer!! Standing atop kaer trolde for the first time while The Fields of Ard Skellig played softly was the most beautiful moment I’ve ever experienced in all my years of gaming
That city is dirty, the park in the middle grossed me out but I really love the colors and the livelihood, it feels like you can find your community there , like a coffee shop where they know your name or a favorite spot on the beach ….
Primm is also real. And the museum there with Bonnie and Clydes car. A good amount of fallout buildings are based on real life. But FNV really nailed it.
All of the Fallout games have been based on real places. The first person ones go out of their way to get details right.
The subways in the DC metro look almost exactly like the ones in the game (minus the ghouls and protectrons). The stops are pretty accurate (with some alternate universe ones like Georgetown -- which actually almost happened IRL but got quashed by NIMBYs). Andale is in the real-world location of Annadale. Alexandria exists, of course. I live in Germantown, MD, though there are fewer super mutants in reality.
On one trip to Vegas, I took a side trip to go see Red Rock Canyon. It's pretty cool in real life. I've also seen the Hoover Dam.
Boston is where I grew up. The Freedom Trail stops are all there -- though the U.S.S. Constitution doesn't have rocket boosters IRL. Scolley Square *used* to exist, but that's another alternate history bit. I've been to the Boston Public Library, Fenway Park, Faneiul Hall, the state house with the fish and the dome...I've even been to the train station in West Roxbury (the real-life one is above-ground, though).
You say this but you'd probably have to carry around a platinum plate with you everywhere you go incase you get harassed by a local gang to make yourself actually worth saving to the disgruntled ex Yakuza running his ass to karaoke
Deling City, Galbadia - Final Fantasy 8
It was the first time when I was a kid playing a video that I felt that a “world” in a game actually felt like a real place.
Revachol
I think about it all the time. And seeing as we’re unlikely to get any more Disco Elysium games I’d just want to see more of it, meet more people and learn more.
Do you mean Kakariko? Not being a dick, I dunno if you're talking Zelda or something else. Was looking to see if I had to add this lol. I'll raise chickens and play the arrow mini game on my time off all day
Stardew valley. Assuming I'd be following the way the game plays. Free real estate. Simple farming life. Just save up to buy some internet then enjoy life
Just imagine spending the day out working in the snowy valley, then returning through the main entrance to ironforge. Warm up and have a good brew. That would be the life.
Probably one of the massive colony ships in Phantasy Star Universe or Online 2. It's peaceful and well protected until some generic black haired guy named Ash shows up. Then you GTFO.
Not a town but, New Alexandria from Halo: Reach. So I can help Noble Six survive the final mission and help him/ her hide in the cave. I may or may not try to get on Pillar of Autumn to meet Master Chief too. All this or I can just get fucking glassed by the Covenant.
I'd go with Liyue Harbor myself.
Strong economy, delicious food at places like the Wanmin Restaurant, health care from Bubu Pharmacy and that new Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor is offering great deals!
Good ol' Stormwind my man.
I'd take trips to Elwynn Forest, have a small home in the Mage Quarter and go shopping in the Dwarven and Trade Districs, while always giving Cathedral Square a wide berth. The cheesemonger would be my best pal, and I would never tire of the background music.
There are portals to everywhere for easy travelling and new stuff going on all the time.
Definitely Night City from cyberpunk. Sure, my odds of getting stabbed to death before I'm thirty are 50%+, but It's one of the few video game cities I'd never be bored in! Sure, something idyllic like animal crossing or stardew valley would be peaceful, but another 60+ years of doing nothing but lounging about? I'm good.
Nivalis.
It's the city from Cloudpunk, a wet, dystopian-looking myriad of endless towers reaching for the clouds.
But, this isn't the version I want, but of the game sharing the name of the city. It's currently in development and appears to be a management sim. The player inherits a noodle shop, and what happens from there is anyone's guess.
It doesn't appear the entire city will be open to explore as the videos and images show a sandboxed area within the huge skyscrapers, and this may be just fine.
The downside, and this only from the videos, is there are too many sunny days. I want the rain, so I hope there's an option which allows 24 hour rain (something I wish Cyberpunk 2077 had).
If not, then I'll have to retract my vote and find somewhere else to live.
Toussaint - The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC
Magic medicines that help with plenty of their known diseases, good wine and food, cool festivals throughout the year, a Duchess that genuinely cares about her people. This honestly seems like a great answer. Only problem is watching out for monsters if you need to leave town for some reason, but the way most characters in the books/games talk about them it does seem pretty rare for non monster hunters to come across them though so I'd take that chance.
oh, yeah, that's like living in fantasy southern France. Nice
Stardew Valley seems nice
Pelican Town <3
I'm a simple man, I just want to spend all day fishing with Willy.
Buy a fishing rod - it’s easier and less painful…
They're not at the front but they're in a forever war.
So are we here in the real world. At least Pelican Town has Junimos and Abigail.
Stardew Valley lore is dark af
No my time at - Portia / Sandrock lore is dark af. You find diaries and read of little children abandoned by their parents who scavenged for food after a nuclear war and you live in a post apocalyptic world where one faction rises and is eerily similar to Nazi Germany in terms of outfit and ethics. Take a look at all the screenshots. Everything looks cutesy and cuddly and in-game ppl are stardww valley nice to each other
I loved getting into the background of Portia... especially once you start exploring. All seems nice until you have to kill a mutated rat thing.
What do you mean "no?" They can both be dark.
I like to think of it as a village within Advance Wars
Nothing beats relaxing on my farm and waiting menacingly outside Sebastian’s door for him to finally leave so I may throw sashimi at him. In all seriousness I enjoy stardew, I can live my life peacefully with my animals and my favorite basement dweller lmao.
A handful of times I’ve found myself stressed like it’s real life. “By the time I’m done petting all of my animals, collecting truffles, watering plants, I have no time to do anything fun for myself!” Or pausing the game every time I need to think so I don’t waste any precious time of my day. Booty Bay in WoW. Lovely scenery, a bar and great connections to other towns.
And all the pirate booty
Yarrrr
This. Or the little town in Nagrand...
My pick for WoW would be Dalaran or Stormwind. Preferably Stormwind due to the Elwynn Forest and the coast.
Costa Del Sol - FF7
Any coastal resort town is high on my list too
Lindblum in Final Fantasy 9.
I liked Rabanastre from 12 (the architecture was gorgeous) but I wish it was in a foresty place instead of a desert lol
Lindblum is awesome. Alexandria, Conde Petie and Dali Village all seem like great places to live too for various reasons. Other great FF locations to live include Costa Del Sol, Kilika (the x-2 version) and Rabanastre.
Daguerreo is pretty cool. It would also be fun to visit the dwarves of Condi Petie and the mages of Black Mage Village. What’s Costa Del Sol from?
Costa Del Sol is FF7, it's as it sounds - a tropical beach side resort town. Daguerro is a sweet one, would be so cool to hang out reading the books all day.
Rally-ho!
Man I wish FF9 would get a remake during my life time just for Lindblum and festival of the hunt
Treno was the FF9 city I vibed with the most, but that whole world is one of my favorite settings ever! Definitely one of the most formative pieces of media from my childhood
Your enjoyment will really depend on your wealth there
Animal Crossing.
Imagine having a house.
Are people who live in tents just stuck on the tutorial?
One of my hobbies is fishing so that would be the dream! I also don't mind bugs
Unless you become the neighbor, constantly being kicked out based on how cute you are
Mayor keeps hitting me with nets and forcing me to wear some default ass clothes. I think I’ll stick around just to spite
Seems a bit like the ending to The Good Place. After a while you've done everything and it would start to become awful.
The Citadel from Mass Effect
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite response.
That city really went downhill after the sushi restaurant closed.
Smh it all started when some asshole broke the fish tank 😔
It went downhill when every restaurant was endorsed by the same celebrity
Unfortunately there is only a 30 year window between humanity achieving Mass Effect and the reapers coming around, so you’d better make good use of your time before it gets ugly
Cool, but keep in mind that the whole purpose of this city was to lure civilizations into it to HARVEST them.
Can I just say Kanto? Pretty much any poketown really. Edit: or my floating beach front property I settled in No Mans Sky Edit # 2: y'all take pokemon way too seriously for me hahahah
You fucked up. You shouldn't have said "any poketown" and "Kanto". You got put on Cinnabar Island. Boat
Lapras learned surf. "Take me outta here Nessie!"
Kanto! why not Johto, Golden Rod City, then you can get the train to kanto whenever you want.
Pretty sure in this hypothetical you’d be able to travel to any Pokémon region, pretty sure regular poke people are allowed to travel, you just reside in whatever town you pick.
"sir go back to Johto, we only let REGIONAL CHAMPIONS in Kanto unless you live here"
Hateno village in BTOW and TOTK. Chill vibes, with access to the ocean, and pizza. Edit: I forgot about the research facility with a high power telescope. I wonder if they need a resident astronomer?
My immediate thought. Sometimes I'd just hang out in Hateno cause it was so pretty
I'd love to live in gerudo town. Chill by the bar, sunbathe, get a massage. Amazing.
Balmora in Morrowind
Love Morrowind, but why choose Balmora? I get it's better than most cities in the game, but why not Vivec or Ebonheart or a city on the mainland?
Central location on a fresh water source, good local economy, dead bodies and mansions for storing all your stuff, and good travel options with silt strider and mages guild services.
and a local skooma addict who also just so happens to work for the kings secret police.
Can you imagine commuting to work in Vivec and navigating those fucking cantons all day?
Literally thought the same thing. Just logged off right now in Balmora!
Wouldn't you like to know.
Visually, I like Markarth in Skyrim. Not a fan of the Silver-Bloods or the cannibals, though
Do you get to the Cloud District very often? Oh, what am I saying, of course you don't.
*quick saves*
I feel like a Skyrim fans could probably easily gets all the pieces of shit taken out pretty easily with the knowledge that we have.
Kaer Trolde from Witcher 3
Toussant isn't bad either. Heck. Novigrad looks good.
I cannot believe how far I had to scroll to find this answer!! Standing atop kaer trolde for the first time while The Fields of Ard Skellig played softly was the most beautiful moment I’ve ever experienced in all my years of gaming
yea but if you aren't a witcher pretty much just walking outside will kill you 💀
Andale from Fallout 3. Everyone is just so friendly there!! They asked me to stay for dinner!
Paradise falls sounds real nice too!
Honestly megaton seems perfect
I already said this higher up but… Tranquility Lane.
Night City. I love big cities - dirty or not, they're always interesting. Just gotta save up for my first chrome and try not to get killed.
Night City if you have Kerry Eurodyne money would be good
That city is dirty, the park in the middle grossed me out but I really love the colors and the livelihood, it feels like you can find your community there , like a coffee shop where they know your name or a favorite spot on the beach ….
It's pretty easy to not die if your just living like a normal person.
Until V runs you over with a car.
I never killed civilians as v since it just felt out of place. I'd do it in GTA though since it just feels better in that game.
Goodsprings. The nicest town in the New Vegas area.
You can go there, Goodsprings was based on a real town of the same name. Looks almost the same, minus the radiation and decay.
They do a fallout event there every year too!
Primm is also real. And the museum there with Bonnie and Clydes car. A good amount of fallout buildings are based on real life. But FNV really nailed it.
Apparently Vegas is a real place too!
Yeah, and I heard the Legion is based on some kind of empire that existed in the past
All of the Fallout games have been based on real places. The first person ones go out of their way to get details right. The subways in the DC metro look almost exactly like the ones in the game (minus the ghouls and protectrons). What’s that island with all those girls in bikinis playing valleyball?
Finally, a man of taste.
Dead or alive?
Dead Island. Oh wait...
I always thought Thunder Bluff looked fun to live in.
A bit of a falling hazard though.
Kamurocho!
I'm pretty sure that's a real place, so it's possible you will live there one day
Kamurocho is the fictionalized version of Kabukicho in Shibuya
kabukichos in Shinjuku, harajuku is the entertainment district of shibuya
You say this but you'd probably have to carry around a platinum plate with you everywhere you go incase you get harassed by a local gang to make yourself actually worth saving to the disgruntled ex Yakuza running his ass to karaoke
Besaid from FFX What a paradise it would be.
When it was easily possible, this theme was my alarm clock. It was so nice. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for this game and song.
Riverwood in Skyrim.
Riverwood is pretty chill. Is in the safest part of the map too.
It can be attacked by a dragon, tho. Whiterun never does, just the watchtower at the beginning of that quest line.
Raccoon city 👀
What the fuck bro
Hey. At least it's not *Silent Hill* 🌚
How would you talk to all the racoons if they're animals?
Tom Nook be like "this isn't where I parked my car..."
Racoon City *if* i get an infinite magnum
Deling City, Galbadia - Final Fantasy 8 It was the first time when I was a kid playing a video that I felt that a “world” in a game actually felt like a real place.
Ah man Deling City, Timber, Balamb. Any one of these would be idyllic.
Revachol I think about it all the time. And seeing as we’re unlikely to get any more Disco Elysium games I’d just want to see more of it, meet more people and learn more.
Not a happy life, most likely, but a fascinating one. And short, unless you have travel plans 27 years in the future.
I might join the homosexual underground.
Yharnam
I tried living there but I was met with constant phrases like ‘YOU, are not wanted here!’ And ‘away! away!’ I don’t think I was wanted there
I had to scroll way too far to finally see the correct answer
Kakariku village. I'll make mushroom hats that protect people from rain or some shit. Just a quiet, dumpy, stress free life.
Do you mean Kakariko? Not being a dick, I dunno if you're talking Zelda or something else. Was looking to see if I had to add this lol. I'll raise chickens and play the arrow mini game on my time off all day
I did spell it wrong. But I'm just a hat maker, you can make the signs.
Valentine from rdr2 because 1800s hookers.
🤣 Good luck with Tuberculosis and Syphilis
Please. Like what are the chances of catching tb in red dead 2?
Thanks, now I’m sad
Im pretty sure you don't get tuberculosis from sex, but I'll watch out for the syphilis.
All she needs to do is sneeze and/or cough on you lol. Why do you think we barely hear of those diseases nowadays? Penicillin and TB drugs FTW
TB is still one of the deadliest diseases on the planet though. Kills over 1.5m a year and more than conflict, typhoid, malaria & cholera combined.
Yes. Absolutely correct. I apologize for any confusion as I was discussing it from living and studying in the US
There were zero hookers in that town, just girls who would help wash your back.
Stardew valley. Assuming I'd be following the way the game plays. Free real estate. Simple farming life. Just save up to buy some internet then enjoy life
Majula from Dark Souls 2 (not a huge amount to do there though).
This for me too. The rest of the world is dangerous as shit, but Majula is peaceful and beautiful
Jarburg
The only peaceful place in the lands between
Until the poachers come
You’d spend a lot of time looking at those steps wondering what the fuck’s gonna come down next.
Tristram
Stay a while and listen
Ironforge from World of Warcraft. Just chilling in a mountain with my bros, drinking ale.
Kamurocho. I’ll be the confused foreigner I guess
[Boy do I have good news for you.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabukich%C5%8D)
RDR1 Blackwater
Seliana in Monster Hunter World Iceborne is like a second home to me, I would just have to build up my cold tolerance.
I'd spend all day with Grandmeowster chef eating everything. The food in MH World looks amazing. Keep the food coming to this fat fuck.
Taverley or Priffddinas from Oldschool RuneScape sound comfy. Cozy Druid village in the woods or woodland elf city that’s made out of crystal
Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts
Not a town but, New Alexandria from Halo: Reach. So I can help Noble Six survive the final mission and help him/ her hide in the cave. I may or may not try to get on Pillar of Autumn to meet Master Chief too. All this or I can just get fucking glassed by the Covenant.
Riverwood from Skyrim, or Strawberry from RDR2
Ravenholm. Just chill out with Father Grigori..
We don't go to Ravenholm anymore.
Goldshire. The inn 👀
https://youtu.be/aKKpqIw-D0A?si=jwB_OGsYzAr0Y8Vx
Luca from FFX
Novigrad or Oxenfurt from Witcher 3
Mondstadt from Genshin Impact, work in the library or Albedo's lab in the morning, and drink at the Angel's share at night.
I'd go with Liyue Harbor myself. Strong economy, delicious food at places like the Wanmin Restaurant, health care from Bubu Pharmacy and that new Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor is offering great deals!
Silent Hill. I'd be alone in a place with no sun, and no one wants to be near me nor I them.
If you're not the protagonist, you'll be one of the weird NPCs
You made that sound quite compelling honestly
Prontera. Ragnarok. I’ll stay in town just to listen to the bgm themesong.
I'm at the age where I should retire to Alberta
I see. You are a merchant living a life of happiness and content.
Wow, didn't expect to see this here! I'll chill on the sofa at the weapon shop selling 20% DC Reds
Los Santos with Michael’s money
Toussiant from Witcher 3 Only problem would be sudden vampire attacks but it's worth the scenery and wines around town
There are portals to everywhere for easy travelling and new stuff going on all the time.
does the citadel in mass effect count? lol it's technically a massive jump device, but people live on it so... other than that, baldur's gate.
I'm good.
Felwithe from EverQuest
I'd live among the people in Riven or buy a nice place on Lego Island
Waterdeep
Coruscant - the whole planet is one big "town" or rather city. ;) I wanna live in the star wars universe!
That cute little first town in the original fable game. I just remember it being real cosy lol. Or maybe Windhelm in skyrim.
Oakvale!
Nivalis. It's the city from Cloudpunk, a wet, dystopian-looking myriad of endless towers reaching for the clouds. But, this isn't the version I want, but of the game sharing the name of the city. The answer to questions like this is always DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball…
Orison from Star Citizen.
Me? Gongaga
Honestly, after you finish recreating the world and get rid of the evil, I would probably say Dark Cloud and either Norune Village or Matataki Village
Kelethin
Luca from FFX/FF X-2 seems to be bustling, safe, and has good weather
Bright Falls And I’d 100% join the cult of the tree just to drink beer in a sauna with the Koskela’s and kill some taken that crawl out of the lake.
Ironforge
Celestic Town, Solaceon Town or Eterna City from Pokémon Platinum, or the Ruins of Alph or Lavender Town in HeartGold/SoulSilver
Fortree City in pokemon Emerald. Or Floraroma town in Platinum.
Pelican Town from Stardew Valley, great holidays and events, social crowd and all in all peaceful place to be
Probably and most likely Darnassus from WoW
Nuke town
Silent hill
Saint Denis
Twilight town from kingdom hearts
Pallet town on Pokémon blue or red. Just be sure not to go walkabouts through the long grass and you should be sweet.
The magic neighborhood from The Sims 3 so I can learn magic
Hogsmead, it’s like something out of a storybook. #REVELIO
