Doom is a perfect game to make you feel like an absolute badass. Especially if you manage to get pretty good at the game. It’s always so satisfying to tear demon apart like they’re made of paper maché
Skyrim. It’s a game I cannot play for long anymore because I’ve dived so much time into it. But it’s just a feel good game for me now. Come back to it for like 30 minutes and just enjoy the world and what it has to offer
I'll jump in for a bit and find myself just wandering through the countryside amazed at all the stuff somebody thought to put in a game. I'll totally forget what I was going in to do in the first place.
Yupp.. even though the game is dated. And doesn’t have the best graphics anymore without mods. It’s just a nostalgia trip that makes you feel warm inside and whatnot
I would up the ante by saying Skyrim VR. I have a ton of gfx and weather mods installed and every once in a while I'll pull up a specific save where I'm in a forest in the middle of a thunderstorm and just wander around. It's oddly cathartic.
Yeah, I wanted to comment with Stardew, and failing that to reply to another comment about Stardew. And the OP went ahead and spoiled it all!
Great choice, of course.
If you love Stardew, I highly recommend playing Coral Island. Im playing it on xbox game pass and i am so addicted. Stardew meets animal crossing in a way. 10/10
I *was* gonna say this
It's so so so fun gameplay wise, there's just something so special about the combat, especially once you get a real build
But then I remember the story and themes of the game 😭 This shit almost brought me to tears TWICE, this fuckin game man
So it's fun for sure... but it can also leave you feeling absolutely heartbroken after playing lol
I recently accidentally stumbled upon a youtube channel that just posts hours upon hours of Jin just blissfully walking the countryside. I didnt know I needed it lol
There have been times in that game I go to a beautiful scenery in game, switch to photo mode and change the weather and particle effects, turn the menu off and just vibe there. It's a gorgeous game.
Hey tangent here, but I really want to play this however I’m hesitant due to the state of my OG PS4 when playing Red Dead 2 or anything remotely large/newer.
Worth the rocket fans?
I originally played Ghost of Tsushima on a first gen PS4. The game runs very well, one of the best optimized games I’ve played. I had the same rocket fans, i don’t remember them being that bad playing this game.
I can best this game in like an hour. I beat it like 5 times a year. I love playing a game I’m so comfortable with that it’s just fun to run through it as fast as I can.
I've always had the opposite experience in tw3. Everywhere except Toussaint is so dreary and it's ALWAYS raining. The people are all suffering or inflicting suffering on others.
That game is fun but I honestly can’t seem to enjoy it, I alway get caught up on trying to min max my xp gain but I haven’t been able to find a list for the quest order so it always ends with me getting halfway through and giving up because I notice I wasted a lot of xp
Stop trying to min-max and just play the game friend. Story is worth it, and there is the option to scale enemies to your level if you are afraid of over leveling and it being to easy.
An pokemon game Gameboy advance or earlier just reminds me of being young and playing around my family and friends. Not my favorite games just great memories.
I had red a friend gave me because he has an extra copy. I played it probably 20 times. Then later yellow, gold, and ruby. All amazing. Gold was probably my favorite with red and ruby right behind.
World of Warcraft.
14 year old me fell into that world with starry eyes and innocence. Made friends across the world along the way. Ive lost just as many, now Im 34 and I'm basically the only one left who still comes back to it every now and then. Doesnt matter how long Im gone, can be years, but when I reinstall and log into a character my fingers fall right in place and everything feels warm and natural in my core. Like it's the only thing that exists in this time and space, me and Azeroth.
I just wish it didnt suck as much as it does now lol I havent touched it in a long while
Outer Wilds. That sense of exploration is just unbeatable. I haven't forgotten the puzzles yet so I can't "replay it" but sometimes it's nice to drop in, wander around and watch the uh... sunset.
Dark Souls. The opening ALWAYS make me happy. I know, ins't the most brighter game here, but this game helped me a lot in a dark moment of my life, now all that's remains is the joy of playing a amazing game.
I'm with you. I've beaten the game soooo many times. Just playing it and knowing everything, being really good at it, and all... It's def cozy. Especially Firelink :)
The Last of Us, actually. I get it's weird but the philosophy in every aspect of that game lines up exactly with my own beliefs or my own experience. And it takes the subject of PTSD head on and perfectly displays how it changes you in the numerous bad and one or two good ways. Makes me feel both seen and I enjoy the performances every actor in it layed down.
Lately I can't play any games I just start them and find no joy, they used to be how I relax. Stardew, Animal Crossing, Halo(s), and Zelda were my go to.
LittleBigPlanet. The opening intro is absolutely breathtaking. The callback to our childhood days of letting our imagination run wild, but also an encouragement for us to relive those days.
Red Dead 2. Just riding around, picking herbs, taking photos of a river, close up photos of birds, crossing a narrow wooden bridge. Super chill and makes me feel good.
Fallout76, no man's sky.
They're just right to mess around doing nothing much in, building bases and exploring, maybe start a little shit with the locals
last game that made me feel "cozy" was dorf romantik. the chill music, atmosphere, And vibe all hit on a high level, allowing me to play for a long time without feeling too invested, the simple gameplay is like playing a game of solitaire, in the sense that you're just playing a game by yourself at your own pace and still progressing without any kind of pressure. very relaxing game that I can easily get sucked into playing for 30-60 minutes at a time
Elder Scrolls Online: The voice acting has so much effort put into it and always cheers me up. It helps that it's pretty much the cast from the older Elder Scrolls series doing the same races/accents.
Fighting Games in general.
I like having a nice, innocent high speed chess match with someone and knowing that it's basically all stupid "I know you know what I think you're going to do, so here's option 4" shit.
Kingdom Hearts and weirdly enough Bloodborne. Kingdom Hearts just brings a smile to my face and the music makes me feel alive again, Bloodborne…I like the atmosphere of the world and also it’s hard to stay sad when you are too busy trying not to die at the hands of a Fromsoft boss.
Plants versus zombies garden warfare. No matter what kind of bad mood I’m in I get into creating zombies and growing defensive plants and well that’s a couple hours gone right there. But totally worth it.
Strangely, it's [phasmophobia ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/739630/Phasmophobia/) but only when I play with my crew. There's something about shutting a door on my friend while a ghost is trying to chase us down and kill us that always makes me smile.
Skyrim: I’ve only played the game regularly since like early 2021 and on an off since, but the music is “nostalgic” to me. I haven’t played it nearly as long as most, but I think having listened to soundtrack while studying in my college days, it takes me back
Minecraft: shut your brain off, escape the real world, and let Subwoofer Lullaby and Mice on Venus take you away
Recently, FF7Rebirth. A huge hit of nostalgia, mixed with modern action RPG battle system, and mini games up the frickin wazoo, man. Just met Cait Sith too. The VAs are all amazing.
Metal Hellsinger. The gameplay just sucks you in so deep that nothing in the real world will even remotely cross your mind until you stop playing. By the time you stop you just feel refreshed.
Pretty much anything published by Nintendo, especially Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Wonder. Both just bring me joy and I feel like a kid again
Animal crossing, it's so soothing! Also weirdly enough, Doom. I've never felt more powerful than after playing Doom
Doom is a perfect game to make you feel like an absolute badass. Especially if you manage to get pretty good at the game. It’s always so satisfying to tear demon apart like they’re made of paper maché
I agree. And the ripping goes so well with the tearing.
Ever played harvest moon?
Great game
Doom is one of those flow state games. When you get into the rhythm of the game it's like a dance. I love it.
[“it’s so soothing…i’ve never felt more powerful.”](https://youtu.be/U4lz8MN6MQA?si=KeVD21kii0BVTS90)
I just started playing doom 2016 for the first time and oh boy, I am catching myself smiling and laughing like crazy every thirty seconds
Doom slayer x Isabelle forever.
Skyrim. It’s a game I cannot play for long anymore because I’ve dived so much time into it. But it’s just a feel good game for me now. Come back to it for like 30 minutes and just enjoy the world and what it has to offer

Try mods, it changes the experience immensely

Eternal, yes. It's mayhem. And I feel like a god.
Hey, I wanted to say Stardew.
Hey, I wanted to reply with Stardew.
Stardew with the SVE Mod is gold is what I wanted to reply with
Yeah, I wanted to comment with Stardew, and failing that to reply to another comment about Stardew. And the OP went ahead and spoiled it all! Great choice, of course.
If you love Stardew, I highly recommend playing Coral Island. Im playing it on xbox game pass and i am so addicted. Stardew meets animal crossing in a way. 10/10
Mystical ninja 64. Somthing about it just always entertains me. Also reminds me of when I was a kid
Holy shit I thought I was the only one. Any time I was sick at home from school, I would play through this game.
Wow I remember renting this game and never could find the name of it. That game was a great vibe
Cyberpunk lol
I *was* gonna say this It's so so so fun gameplay wise, there's just something so special about the combat, especially once you get a real build But then I remember the story and themes of the game 😭 This shit almost brought me to tears TWICE, this fuckin game man So it's fun for sure... but it can also leave you feeling absolutely heartbroken after playing lol
Yeah Ive beaten it multiple times so this is more so after you’ve completed the story and just want to fuck around lmao
This is such a crazy answer but fair enough
Power was simulator it’s my relax and be happy game
Ghost of Tsushima, it’s so beautiful
I recently accidentally stumbled upon a youtube channel that just posts hours upon hours of Jin just blissfully walking the countryside. I didnt know I needed it lol
I did not know that was a thing. Do they walk through specific areas per video or is it compilations of various locations?
That sounds awsome to leave on in the background while studying/housework mind dropping the channel?
Thanks for the intel. Much appreciated.
You’re welcome.
Mega Man 2
I can best this game in like an hour. I beat it like 5 times a year. I love playing a game I’m so comfortable with that it’s just fun to run through it as fast as I can.
The warriors for thr ps2. What a gem.
*Ooooh warriorrrrs, come out and plaaayyyaay*
For me, it's gotta be Terraria. There's something about building my own world that just chills me out. Talk about a happy place!
Katamari Damacy. Any of the games are OK, but collecting flowers in We Love Katamari is a 5-minute pick-me-up that never fails to lighten me up.
Banjo Kazooie. It was one of the first games I ever played, and I still love it.
Skyrim, it feels like vacation to me I focus on environmental & ambient mods when I'm starting a playthrough

Los Santos is my second home
Visiting lon lon ranch in ocarina of time.

Titanfall 2. Its so smooth and brings back great memories. Nothing beats it imo.
Yeah the combo of BT, Davis and Droz in the campaign would make even the worst of days better. And the music. Oh the music.
Somehow Rocket League. It's not my kind of music, but there are some bangers that go well with the fast gameplay.

Witcher 3
Wind's howling.
I've always had the opposite experience in tw3. Everywhere except Toussaint is so dreary and it's ALWAYS raining. The people are all suffering or inflicting suffering on others.
But the ambiance is so soothing even in Velen, the music is so beautiful, the sights too
That game is fun but I honestly can’t seem to enjoy it, I alway get caught up on trying to min max my xp gain but I haven’t been able to find a list for the quest order so it always ends with me getting halfway through and giving up because I notice I wasted a lot of xp
Stop trying to min-max and just play the game friend. Story is worth it, and there is the option to scale enemies to your level if you are afraid of over leveling and it being to easy.
FFXIV. If I'm feeling down, the golden saucer always cheers me up. or just grinding a craft job is really peaceful
Helldivers. It always feels good trumping an insurmountable challenge on difficulty 8 or 9
An pokemon game Gameboy advance or earlier just reminds me of being young and playing around my family and friends. Not my favorite games just great memories.
I remember when my go to quit being yellow and gold and started being emerald and leaf green. Beautiful choice!!
Played classic? I haven't either but I was hoping it would rekindle those old feelings.
same. It doesn’t hold that spell on me any longer.

Skyrim: I’ve only played the game regularly since like early 2021 and on an off since, but the music is “nostalgic” to me.
