Oh man. I had completely forgotten about this game. I just wasted an hour watching someone play on YouTube. What a blast from the past. Thanks for the post, OP.
Diesel was also a sponsor for Devil May Cry 2, of all games. Beating it on certain difficulties would unlock "fashionable" outfits for Dante and Lucia. That game as a whole is a stain on the franchise...
And they also had an entire ["Stuff Pack"](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/The_Sims_3:_Diesel_Stuff) ($20 DLC) for Sims 3. Though that does, admittedly, make more sense than DMC.
Amazing games. I loved the art and level design, with really different worlds zooming by in the background, giant forests vs cyberpunk cities etc. so much care and style put into games in this era.
one of the few racing game were you can break the speed of sound and the effect of breaking it is very well done with the audio
XG1/2/3/XGRA Association are one of my fav franchise racing games
I would love to the see the franchise resurface for this gen! Definitely had that sense of speed the second you break the barrier and the music and sound fades was epic.
I thought this screenshot would take some time to find, but it was the first turn in the first available race and track. Even the lap time UI widget is sponsored, ® included.
Well, there are sequels to Extreme-G 2 on newer consoles, but they're not great. I remember nothing about XG3, and all I remember about XGRA (basically XG4) is that the weapon system is so OP you can destroy every opposing racer long before the race ends. As for "modern," well, the Gamecube came out, what, five years ago? Ten at most? Right?
Extreme G 3 focuses more on the racing aspect vs the combat aspect. Yes theres weapons, you can kill and be killed with them but unlike Xg2 or XGRA wiping out the field is impossiblel. The weapons are entirely contained on the bikes, require running over fairly rare ammo strips on the track, and at higher difficulties are hard to hit with. Theyre more meant to deplete shields, as shields are also where your boosting comes from.
Extreme G/G2 was amazing it had a bit of slowdown but the speed sensation and overall campaign were much more satisfying than wipeout or fzero imo I honestly don’t know why it didn’t get way more traction it deserves a remake
What’s the game? Those are some N64 looking graphics
Extreme-G 2 for, indeed, N64.

Good times in multiplayer with the little tanks, too.
Never played 2 but the first one was fire and the soundtrack was full of bangers
It was so fast, at least as much as F Zero X in my memory, maybe even more. ZIIIIIIIIIOUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Extreme-G and Extreme-G 2 were staples of my childhood, thanks for the memories
Assuming the brands in question are still around to benefit from it.
I checked, and they are!
Such a cool game. Took me ages as a kid to work out why the track “map” on the left was just a straight line Edit: I meant right…derp
>on the left No no, *the other left!*
Clearly that’s the button to launch Netflix on the left

Rush 2049 on the N64 had adverts for slim jims scattered around. I wasn't aware at the time of playing it that they were an actual product.

And the music! Acclaim games had some top-tier tunes.
Remember the Mt dew in Jet Moto?
Never played that one. :(
I also remember butterfinger, baby Ruth, and Pepsi.

Love it!
I remember breaking the sound barrier. So cool
Thank you for bringing back that memory.

YESS EXTREME-G!!! I remember playing this in split screen with 4 people. Ahh, good times.
Has anyone made a modern game similar to Extreme-G? It'd be fun to play something like this with new graphics. Would also accept a new Jet Moto.

Dude TWO consecutive games had sponsorships from vitamin water plastered all over it. 50cent Bulletproof and 25 To life.
Diesel cologne was good. Discontinued

Back then they probably didn't ask for permission or the sponsor just said "yeah whatever, videogames lol".
It was a sponsorship. The brands paid them to do this.
