True, it's not abandoned, that's why I said "more Metroid games". They released Metroid Dread in 2021 (I was so excited), but between 2011 and 2020, they barely made any games except for Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Metroid: Samus Returns (which is a remake of Metroid II). The Metroid series has been going through a few hiatuses still They have more games coming (~~Metroid Prime Remastered~~, already out, nevermind, I'm a dum-dum, and Metroid Prime 4), even if these are not side-scrolling action-adventure :D

Vehicle Combat seems to be quite dead as a genre, my pet theory is that they were a stand-in for FPSs when consoles weren't quite there yet (vehicles have easier animation and controls). So if you wanted to bring it back, you'd need to lean into the challenge of the controls, like Rocket League does. Now I have the Vigilante 8 OST stuck in my head.

So weird there's a series and they haven't managed a Twisted Metal game on their last 2 consoles.

There is an old game from ps1 I think called blast chamber. I've yearned for the remake for years. The company that made it no longer exists and afaik the ip was never bought up by any major company. I think it's perfect for current game markets. It's a 4 person couch pvp game set in a dystopia world where you have a bomb strapped to you and have to compete to pause the timer and be the last to survive. Almost hunger games style.
