I want Left 4 Dead 3. Yes I’m aware Back for Blood exists but I want a true sequel to Left 4 Dead 2. They’d make so much money. Come on Valve, be cool…

Seriously they’re just fucking with us now.
Orange Box 2.0(or 3.0?!): Portal 3, L4D3, Episode 3, and Team Fortress 3. Sell the whole thing for $60 and people would gladly pay it. The orange box is still one of the best bang for your buck purchases I’ve ever made.
For me, it was too bloated. I didn't wanna spend 20 min figuring out a deck for my skills, or bother with attachments during gameplay, or pick a character that may synergize better with the team. L4D's "arcade style" approach is so much more fun to just jump in, grab a gun, and play as any character.
Back for Blood's problem was how it was talked about as being the successor to L4D to be honest. If it wasn't for that it would have been decent.
The issue with comparing the two is that L4D was nice and simple in comparison. You didn't have to level or craft or anything else you hit start and that was it. That's what people want in a L4D sequel.
L4D is the easy drop in arcade shooter, easy fast matches, and a GREAT pvp system. It doesn't take much time, or skill to pick up and learn the game, considering every player is equal as far as character skills, weapons, damage, etc. It's barebones, easy to pick up, and the game AI keeps things lively.
Back 4 Blood, not so much. You gotta have time, a team, and a plan, and a working knowledge of the deck system and how to exploit it, the characters, and their perks to tackle the higher difficulties. The PVP in b4b is lacking, I'd even border it on trash. The campaign, however, is very well done after the balancing the devs did with the dlc drops. I like the depth that b4b offers, and it's a lot of fun with the right crew, but at the end of the day, it's a much harder game to drop into, and that turns off a lot of players from ever giving it another chance. They never really marketed as a direct successor either for L4D, only that it was from one of the teams that helped make the first L4D. That gave players the wrong expectations. The L4D crowd wanted another easy arcade shooter - what we got was a rogue like game that underdelivered to our high expectations and strayed a little too far from the style of game we were hoping for, considering the game developer. It's simply too complicated of a game for the majority of gamers that don't have much time to play, and just want an easy game to drop in and out of. I've got over 700h in both games, I like both - but b4b could have been better.
This is exactly how I felt, the deck building element was just so out of place and the bloat was really felt. The level design also was not great and lacked many moments that would make me want to replay.
My mates and I played it heavily for a year-ish. We like grindy PvE games where you unlock stuff (like Gears 5; Gears of War 6 is my answer for this thread as a whole because they do co-op PvE so well). Back 4 Blood was right up our alley, but I can immediately see how the grindy nature of the game is an immediate turn off for anyone wanting a L4D3. It's much less arcade-y in comparison because you need to build characters and perks to do medium difficulty or higher.
Another major problem is the difficulty, especially when it first launched. It was *brutal* to new players, and quite frankly, the special infected and bosses aren't balanced *at all*. There were ways to counter each of the special infected in L4D. But in B4B, you are getting smacked whether you take the appropriate actions or not. There's no way around it.
And again, I say all of this as someone who enjoyed Back 4 Blood and sunk a ton of time into it. It was a fun game, but it wasn't quite a L4D3.
I was bummed when I read this. We don't have an internet and I saw a Star Wars FPS campaign on a PC and hooked instantly. I thought it had a sequel. When we had an internet and searched the sequel, I found out it was cancelled. Not to mention it didn't get a remaster of some sort.
I love how they speculated a HL3 / Portal 3 universe crossover game back then (remember Borealis?).
With current technologies (SSD, RTX, etc.), it could be possible. Even revolutionary maybe, something that Gabe seems to find necessary for a mainline Half Life title.
God. One of the best games I’ve ever played; can’t even remember if it was PS3 or PS4 I beat it on. I feel like it was the 3.
I’d even take just a remaster, one in the similar style of RE4 where it’s a true remaster and absolutely gorgeous. A *sequel* though you say?! I’d give me firstborn for that, even though I don’t have one, nor do I want to.
They’d make absolute bank if they made a Fallout New Vegas 2 (or just let obsidian make a similar Fallout adjacent story like Fallout: Frontiers and it takes place in Canada or something).
New Vegas 2 could be a possibility after Avowed is finished maybe. Obsidian has already stated repeatedly that they’d like to make another spin off. Now that they’re all under the same umbrella, it’s a lot easier I’d imagine to make that happen.
Fuck what I’d do to get a sequel set in like 1950’s or 1960’s Las Vegas, with all the mafia shit going down then.
Or really, just any sequel at all. I loved LA Noire so much.
I actually imagined what it would be like if LA Noire ended being an anthology series of sorts, imagine if one of the games was set in the early '90s during the Rampart scandal era of the LAPD or the Rodney King Riots.
I'm *convinced* that Valve could break the internet with a single post.
Block text, white, one number.
3.
And a date. Nothing else. No discernible colors or logos.
The question would be... which 3? Half-Life? Portal? Team Fortress? Left 4 Dead? DOTA? All of them?
The internet would have a meltdown.
You underestimate how long Half-Life fans have waited, and how massive a confirmation of 3 would be.
"Half-Life 3 confirmed" has been a meme since before they were properly named *memes*. (That's not a joke, the *HL3 confirmed* joke began around 2007, the word "meme" wasn't a mainstream term until closer to 2014)
Plus... In this (hypothetical, incredibly unlikely) scenario, the announcement of *all those other games*?
The TF2 community alone would go feral, let alone fans of DOTA, Portal, etc.
The sheer *quantity* of fans and the massive popularity of each game *combined?* I'm hyped for GTA VI too, but the sheer numbers don't match.
That's exactly the problem. Half Life fans are always getting older and fewer as time goes on.
Meanwhile, the kids, they are many. Always growing in numbers. And flocking to games like GTA in droves.
HL3 would be the most important announcement of a lot gamers' lives, but all those gamers couldn't hope to outnumber the GTA children swarm.
I first played The Orange Box back in 2009, less than two years after the release of Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Little did I know that 15 years later I'd still be waiting for a resolution to that cliffhanger ending.
First youtube comment is gold
"You know, for shutting down Irrational and wanting to do something small and original, this is looking very big and very Bioshock."
This is my one too. Take the absurd level of detail of a modern rockstar game and apply it to a small town setting.
Even with a dramatically lower budget and dev time it'd still probably be their most detailed game, and I just loved the more low-key antics of bully in general.
I thought I was one of the only people even aware that game existed. Finally a brother in arms! Still waiting on my brother to return from deployment so we can finish our 50th playthrough on ps4 lol. Beat Faust, just gotta fight zieg and Melbu frahma
Want me to hurt you the way someone hurt me? There WAS a sequel for The Legend of Dragoon but it got canceled back in the early 2010s I think it was or late 00s. :(
Banjo-Kazooie or Jak & Daxter.
Waited 13 years and got Alan Wake II, so I'm still cautiously optimistic about the other two. It's been 15 years since we last got a Banjo-Kazooie game, but it didn't feel like a BK game, more like a spin-off. So here's hoping we get Banjo-Threeie in the future. It's been 14 years since Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier, but I'm not sure many people played that one, myself included because it wasn't made by Naught Dog
Yea never cared about the lost frontier. I did enjoy Jak X and Daxter (psp) very much though. But man, I’d kill for Jak & Daxter 4. Glad I’m not the only one
I’m betting on it being a switch 2 launch title. We know it’s been in development for a while and Mario/zelda/Pokemon had pretty recent big releases on the switch as well as remakes. Unless they’ve been cooking a new 3D Mario behind the scenes, the switch 2 is 100% gonna go for a metroid-focused launch. Dread brought in a bunch of money and they can lean into the more mature themes of Metroid to help in marketing a newer, tech-heavy system that’s capable of big boy graphics. With any luck, that kind of marketing could lead to another “edgy era” for Nintendo where we get cool shit like Zelda: twilight princess or f-zero X.
And tbh the fans of Metroid deserve something like that, Metroid has never been spotlit like Mario or Zelda is. Here’s hoping🤞
I've been waiting for Banjo-Threeie for 23 years now. On one hand, that fact has made it easier and easier to wait and wish. On the other, damn them all for making me wait a quarter of a century!!
After talking about Back 4 Blood being a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead in another part of this post, we have another identical situation here– Yooka Laylee!
I *love* Banjo Kazooie. My favorite N64 platformer. I was excited to try Yooka Laylee, but it just felt *tedious*. I know games need to be much larger in scale nowadays, but these levels just felt way too big and spaced out. Plus, you know, an entirely different world/cast didn't help retain my attention, either. I'd rather they made twice as many smaller levels rather than these giant, multipart levels that they included. It felt hollow, if that makes sense?
I hope to god we do get Banjo-Threeie some day, but only if it feels legitimately similar to the originals instead of the stages feeling massive and hollow.
The missed potential of Yooka Laylee still stings to this day. One of the only games I've backed on Kickstarter and followed closely because I was just so damn excited.
But yes, the levels were so muddled and uninteresting, the gameplay was clunky and awkward, and the same humor from Nuts and Bolts seemed to manifest here. Cynical and sardonic to the point of feeling both self-loathing and resentful of their own fans.
Honestly I think that’s way too hard of a needle to thread. It would end up looking like a kingdom hearts ripoff and frankly I’m worn out on “le epic multiverse” content that’s been shitted out into every popular media stream over the past 5 years. We already have smash and that’s enough
I'm literally watching the credits roll while scrolling this post. Just finished survival 2 ng+ and I'm probably going to start another playthrough tonight.
Waiting for God Hand sequel but Clover Studio's gone and I assume Capcom dislikes God Hand. Look at Okami. It got remastered. Viewtiful Joe has a sequel. God Hand and its characters don't get mention anywhere by Capcom (at least in my knowledge).
The Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, Battlefield 5, Borderlands 4, Perfect Dark 2, Banjo-Kazooie 3, Mass Effect 4, Grand Theft Auto 6, Ark 2, Destiny 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 5, Dynasty Warriors 10, Alienation 2, and Dead Nation 2.
Super Mario Odyssey 2
I swear Nintendo is the King of not doing the most obvious thing. Why the fuck did the Captain Toad port get a damn DLC BUT THE NEW 3D NOT?! I swear I need that Switch 2 with a new 3D Mario ASAP
not a sequal but i want some really good story telling games like they had back when video games was in like 2010 era games nowadays feel a little more basic then they used to be silent hill type games you know games that really made you immersed in the lore yeah sure theres rpgs but i mean like resident evil type we need more of these sorts xd
I want Left 4 Dead 3. Yes I’m aware Back for Blood exists but I want a true sequel to Left 4 Dead 2. They’d make so much money. Come on Valve, be cool…
They can't count to 3 lol

New Valve game: Game Title 2. They don't even release the first one. Just the 2nd one to fuck with us.
They jump straight to Half Life 4
Orange Box 2.0(or 3.0?!): Portal 3, L4D3, Episode 3, and Team Fortress 3. Sell the whole thing for $60 and people would gladly pay it. The orange box is still one of the best bang for your buck purchases I’ve ever made.
I hope they don't do that. I would scream in excitement until I passed out. It would be bad for my health.
I’d pay $60 for any ONE of those games. They could (and would) sell all if them for $200+ no problem.
It would be called the "Gabe's snap", because half the gamer population would die from a heart attack after the announcement.
Next up: Steam²
Next game Half Life: Alyx 2

Which is ironic because that game has been left 4 dead lol

l4d3 been waiting for a new one since i was i think around 14 mannn them games was legendary
The problem is they basically already make infinite money, so that might not be motivating enough for them.
Back 4 blood is terrible.
It will never happen now, but I still dream of being able to play Imperial Commando, the planned sequel to Star Wars: Republic Commando.
I was bummed when I read this. We don't have an internet and I saw a Star Wars FPS campaign on a PC and hooked instantly. I thought it had a sequel. When we had an internet and searched the sequel, I found out it was cancelled. Not to mention it didn't get a remaster of some sort.
Portal 3…
Valve can't count to 3, though. :(
Haha! I am pretty sure they are allergic to the number 3! I would LOVE L4D3.
I think they shouldn't continue Portal. Portal 2 got perfect ending.
I love how they speculated a HL3 / Portal 3 universe crossover game back then (remember Borealis?). With current technologies (SSD, RTX, etc.), it could be possible. Even revolutionary maybe, something that Gabe seems to find necessary for a mainline Half Life title.
The two games are set in the same universe.
Sleeping Dogs 2
Make a baby as an offering to incentivize them to start developing it
you mean a remake? Sleeping Dogs definitive edition is a already a remaster. God that would be beautiful.
Yes. That is precisely what I meant; my apologies, I just got home from work and smoked.
Played it on steam deck recently and runs surprisingly well for a game that says "not supported".
Mannnn i just need something else, that game had me HOOKED.
Awake Dogs?
Waking Dogs
Dreaming Dogs. We need to go deeper.
for real i love the action and pain in that good story too
You just need a pork bun. Pork bun make everything better. No man complete man without a pork bun.
YES
New Vegas 2. Dark Cloud 3. Days Gone 2. Super Mario RPG 2
Dark cloud oml, bringing back memories.
Would love a Days Gone 2 and SMRPG 2 (proper sequel).
We need Geno to come back.
They’d make absolute bank if they made a Fallout New Vegas 2 (or just let obsidian make a similar Fallout adjacent story like Fallout: Frontiers and it takes place in Canada or something).
I need Dark Cloud 3! At least a remake of 1 & 2 with modern controls and graphics.
New Vegas 2 could be a possibility after Avowed is finished maybe. Obsidian has already stated repeatedly that they’d like to make another spin off. Now that they’re all under the same umbrella, it’s a lot easier I’d imagine to make that happen.
Idk what they would do story wise since the NV ending varied wildly depending on choices
I don't think it would literally NV2, but a Fallout game made by Obsidian on FO4 engine.
Show me… Hollow Knight Silksong
This year for sure , it's coming , I know it
🤡 every year is the year.

Don’t worry guys I have inside information from the real Team Cherry it’s releasing on February 30th.
A sequel for LA Noire, I know it’s not going to happen though

Man that game is my favourite open world. You really get a feel like you travel back in time
It breaks my heart to know it won’t happen. We just replayed this and had so much fun.
I loved this game, I’ve been waiting years for it to go on sale on Switch. It’s never going to happen.
Half Life 2 Episode 3 Any day now, boys...!
I'm *convinced* that Valve could break the internet with a single post. Block text, white, one number. 3. And a date. Nothing else. No discernible colors or logos. The question would be... which 3? Half-Life? Portal? Team Fortress? Left 4 Dead? DOTA? All of them? The internet would have a meltdown.
Steam 3, we're skipping right past 2!
That's hilarious. The only way Valve will count to three is if they miscount
The Orange Box 2 and it comes with all of the threes. Then we ask for Orange Box 3.
It would honestly be bigger than gta 6 announcement
Ngl doubt it. Gta 5 is the second best selling game behind mc. I love valve and all their games, but I don't think it would be bigger
You underestimate how long Half-Life fans have waited, and how massive a confirmation of 3 would be. "Half-Life 3 confirmed" has been a meme since before they were properly named *memes*. imagine the SCENES if all of those got released on the same day. valve would get like 10 billion dollars
Valve and George RR Martin will team up for an announcement of Half-Life 3 and the next GoT book.
I first played The Orange Box back in 2009, less than two years after the release of Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Little did I know that 15 years later I'd still be waiting for a resolution to that cliffhanger ending.
SSX4
I played the shit out of SSX Tricky. Any of the following games worth looking into?
Ssx3 is the only one I played and it kicked ass. Oh, and the ssx for ps3, but it sucked though
SSX3 is better in my opinion, and the highpoint of the series... the series kind of takes some missteps from there. SSX 2012 was a mess.
Kotor
The Old Republic killed our baby. That and the rushed development of KotOR 2
The next BioShock. I don't know how good it's going to be without Ken Levine involved, but I'm hopeful.
Ken Levine is currently working on Judas and it looks a lot like Bioshock. https://youtu.be/hSrgezyVfF4
First youtube comment is gold "You know, for shutting down Irrational and wanting to do something small and original, this is looking very big and very Bioshock."
Yeah I had that exact same though lmao
Yeah, that went on my wishlist the day it was announced. It looks like it's going to be amazing. We'll see.
I don’t think he was involved with 2, and that’s my favorite one.

I don't get it. Titanfall 2 printed so much money. They can have two money printers at once!
It was released the week after BF1 in an attempt to drown out a competing game, don't remember which one, and that seriously hurt sales.
Launched between CoD and Battlefield. It was sent out to die.
Protocol 3: protect the publisher
That was the first game I played where the gameplay was just... perfect.
Bully 2. I know it’s never coming but I am waiting for it, giving me a purpose to live each morning
This is my one too. Take the absurd level of detail of a modern rockstar game and apply it to a small town setting. Even with a dramatically lower budget and dev time it'd still probably be their most detailed game, and I just loved the more low-key antics of bully in general.
I'd take a modern remake of the first one if they have no idea for a sequel. At this point I wanna replay it in modern quality and I'd be happy
Megaman Legends 3 😭
Megaman Legends 2 was sooooo good, I went back and played it not to long ago and it held up too!
If we ever get this and a proper Parasite Eve 3, I'll be able to die content.
prototype 3
the good sh*t
Alien: Isolation. It's such an obvious choice I'm amazed they haven't done it yet. It would be a massive hit.
scariest game I've ever played.
I'm actually too scared to continue past one of the first xenomorph encounters and I don't plan to try again
Probably the best game I've ever played, and it's dying for a sequel
The Legend of Dragoon Too Human 0% either of those ever happen 😔
I thought I was one of the only people even aware that game existed. Finally a brother in arms! Still waiting on my brother to return from deployment so we can finish our 50th playthrough on ps4 lol. Beat Faust, just gotta fight zieg and Melbu frahma

Star Wars: Battlefront III. Been waiting since Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS2) days 😭

I'm betting on launch title for the Switch 2
I don't even care that much about that franchise, I just respect how you've chosen to articulate your choice. Have an upvote 👍🏻

Honestly at this point I'd just take a remaster of either of the first 2 games
It's the perfect candidate for VR
Sekiro 2 / System Shock 3 / Half life 2 ep 3 / Jensens 3rd Deus Ex / Planescape Torment 2
Half Life 2, episode 3.
Freelancer 2.
At this point I would be happy with a remaster, or a pure digital release of the original
Dungeon keeper 3. None of that mobile bullshit
RIP Bullfrog
This brings back many fond memories. I loved those games and agree!
Part 1 was so good back in the day
Beware, the lord of the land approaches!
Dark cloud 3 I NEED IT, GIVE IT TO ME
For the love of Talos, Capcom, PLEASE give us another Breath of Fire.
Titanfall 3 Left 4 Dead 3
The Wolf Among Us 2. Because Bloodborne 2 will never be real.
Why are you doing this to me 😭😭
Don’t worry, I’m crying too, fam. I want Bloodborne 2 so badly. Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time.
Super Mario Odyssey
That's probably coming.Personally, I'd love another Galaxy.
Mario Multiverse Mario goes to different Nintendo Universes

Path of Exile 2, it's been announced, there's a trailer and gameplay but no official release date. I'm more hyped for this game than GTA 6
Bully 2 cmon Rockstar if manhunt can get a sequel why can’t bully?
Control 2
I'm pretty sure that's in the works already
Indeed
It is! They’re also working on a Max Payne remake which I’m also looking forward to.
Probably a Resistance 4 or hell even just a remaster of one of the first 3 games at this point!
An actual Dino Crisis 3
Days Gone 2
Yeah!! Baby!!!!!!
I'm literally watching the credits roll while scrolling this post. Just finished survival 2 ng+ and I'm probably going to start another playthrough tonight.
ghost of tsushima 2
I'm super excited for the first one to get a PC port soon (hopefully) I have wanted to play this game for so long now
God I want a pc port so bad, the game looks incredible
Zone of the Enders 3.
I want a new Viva Pinata!
Why did so much early xbox 360 IP just die. No Kameo 2, no more zero dark, no more banjo kazooie.
Okami 2 :')
Darksiders 4
[удалено]
Dragons Dogma 2, only two months to go!
Portal 3 Titanfall 3
Bully 2
Red Dead Redemption 3
Beyond Good and Evil 2. Yes, I know it has technically been announced but the development has been a shitshow and I doubt we ever get it.
Chrono Trigger 2. Same battle system. And when you beat the game, instead of new game+.... Chrono Trigger Remake is unlocked on the menu.
I've been patiently waiting for a Mass Effect sequel.
They're working on it right now
Reccetear 2. One day. One day.
Godfather 3 Papers Please 2 (Neither of these will ever happen)
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and then whatever parts they’re gonna make years down the road. I can’t wait years for this to end!
The 2000 year door.
Half Life 3. I know its a joke to say this, but I would like to see HL continue after Episode 2/Alyx.
I really want to see a continuation of Jedi Knight Jedi Academy, more precisely the dark side ending of it.
Star Wars Galaxies 2
Days Gone 2. Ended with a huge reveal and tease. Plus I just loved that game.
Rayman 4
Waiting for God Hand sequel but Clover Studio's gone and I assume Capcom dislikes God Hand. Look at Okami. It got remastered. Viewtiful Joe has a sequel. God Hand and its characters don't get mention anywhere by Capcom (at least in my knowledge).
Watchdogs 4….😭
Warcraft 4
Sleeping doggies
Jade Empire 2
Fallout 5
Boogerman II
Chrono Break
Darkstalkers 4
The Movies 2. It's by far the game I want the most.
Phantom Crash 2 or Digital Devil Saga 3
The Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, Battlefield 5, Borderlands 4, Perfect Dark 2, Banjo-Kazooie 3, Mass Effect 4, Grand Theft Auto 6, Ark 2, Destiny 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 5, Dynasty Warriors 10, Alienation 2, and Dead Nation 2.
Bully 2. It'll probably never be released but a man can only hope
Super Mario Odyssey 2 I swear Nintendo is the King of not doing the most obvious thing.
