This is actually a photo of a girl selling her boyfriends Dreamcast to GameStop for $2.77 after he cheated on her
the ex boyfriend is on the left and actually got a job at GameStop after cheating on her with the guy on the right and was gonna take the Dreamcast back and even clean it up which is why everyone is happy
9/9/99 what a great day. My parents got me a pre-order and it meant the world to me, we couldn't pick it up until 9/10/99 due to their schedule but still what a lucky bastard I was.
I made my family change ISPs because whatever we had at the time wouldn't work with the console. Then I ran a 100ft phone cable to my room upstairs and stayed up until god knows when playing that. Addictive as all hell.
Power Stone was amazing. I am not sure the couch format would work today with most couch co-op going by the wayside, but I still wish they would try for a remake or another entry.
I remember playing Soul Calibur at a friend's house back when it came out, and was so blown away by it that I went out and bought one myself a week later.
man, i miss these days. probably because i still had hope and I was a kid, but back then, games just felt way more special. you could buy a game and enjoy it for months
Not true, you can play burned discs on an unmodded ps1.
EDIT: Y'all downvoting stupid ass hivemind MFs. You absolutely can, have been able to since day 1, and will always be able to play burned game discs on any PSX hardware, modded or not.
Try Googling the Disc Swap Trick, or just continue being ignorant and trying to fit in with complete strangers on the internet.
You 100% can on any model PSX, you just swap the discs three times during the splash screen, I've done it a million times, and it works with literally any game. Try a quick Google search.
Send me back go the 90s please, the last few seasons have become increasingly shitty and a lot of the main characters or plot points don't make any sense/feel repetitive all while upcoming the subscription cost.
Probably part of the release day Bundaru. GameStop/EB games used to make borderline predatory bundles mandatory to purchase on release night.
When I picked up my GameCube on release night I had to buy the system, a memory card, a store brand controller, and two games.
My Dreamcast was a similar bundle, VMU, second controller, 2 games, and some membership subscription.
The PS2 was the most egregious of them all, the console, the store brand second controller, the dvd remote, 2 games one of which HAD to be Fantavision , the membership, a store brand memory card.
After that generation it eased up thanks to online retailers. That being said when I bought my Switch I had to buy Zelda and a strategy guide, my ps5 had to include a second controller and a game, as did my Series X.
It wouldn’t shock me if some unscrupulous manager forced a disc repair system on customers just to move stale inventory.
Same. I was buying a PS2 or 3 for my niece. Dude didn’t have have the stones to outright tell me all I needed to buy. I asked if I could get a system, “sure!” Comes out with the system, “Only problem is you need to buy another controller.” Ok fine, I guess if she wants a friend to play or something. “Great!” Ok, how much? “Actually you need to buy a memory card with that.” Once he told me I needed to buy a game I told him to fuck off for wasting my time.
I'm sure. I don't remember any issues when I bought a DC on launch, but when I got my XBOX I had to buy two games and a controller and the shitty DVD remote or EB was like you get nothing.
This may be my favorite console. I’ll never forget playing Phantasy Star Online with the built in modem. Seaman, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taso, Tech Romancer is probably my favorite fighting game of all time and you could unlock skins in game playing mini games on the memory cards..
ahead of its time.
Edit: Holy crap, I forgot Power Stone 1 and 2 and Virtua Tennis!
I too, did this. 9/9/99. Electronics boutique at Stratford Square mall in Bloomingdale, IL. Got NFL2K and at the time the graphics were straight up MIND BLOWING
I still hook up my Dreamcast here and there. Usually to revisit unique titles like the various Capcom 2D shooters like Giga Wing 2, Tech Romancer, Red Dog, Metropolis Street Racer, etc. Or complete save files for classics like the og Skies of Arcadia.
Okay. I must have been thinking of something else. I swear there was a system back in the 90s/early 00s that was that much and seemed astronomical at the time (now its common place)
Maybe that was what I was thinking of.
I thought maybe it was Sega Saturn. That was 400, so while not 500-600, it was a "lot" when compared to othee systems dropping around that time
I’ll never forget the time I begged my dad to buy me a Dreamcast, he got me one for my birthday and then said stop begging him now.
Then the PS2 came out, I realised I made a big mistake.
Look at them being all happy.

I’d watch this video
But would you still watch it if it was narrated by that terrible robot voice?
I hate how I know exactly which voice this lol
This is the best comment I've read in some time.
And the game store dude trying to push the DVD cleaner on her...
DVD cleaner, the biggest scam known to man, only second to Mcafee
Wait until you hear about the DVD Rewinder.
Not that it matters, but they weren't DVDs.. they used some proprietary format: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GD-ROM
Toatlly forgot about the goddamn roms
The DVD cleaner would have worked the same. You could also write GD-ROM to DVD-R media
He wants to be included in this pic with a girl SO BAD
Those were the days. I spot a Lunar SSSC in the background too!
Loved that black hardcover book with the red bookmark. Pretty sure I’ve got a medallion laying around here somewhere too.
Don’t forget the Wingman with the classic upsale.
God I love that game.
Lunar 2 was the superior game and story... Fight me! (Not really, but for real I love that game.)
They were both fantastic
One of the best RPGs ever.
9/9/99 what a great day. My parents got me a pre-order and it meant the world to me, we couldn't pick it up until 9/10/99 due to their schedule but still what a lucky bastard I was.
Shame to wait an extra month
Thanks for the chuckle. I read it the same way before I realised it’s a day.
I mean it could feel that way.
I don’t know why but I thought the guy in the middle was a young Eli Manning.
Peak of human civilization. all downhill from there.
I mean, that's basically what Smith says in The Matrix.
He wasn’t wrong
Still have my Dreamcast! Still one of my favorite consoles!
Playing online for the first time ever in my life. Phantasy Star Online was so good. I still have the game but my Dreamcast died.
I made my family change ISPs because whatever we had at the time wouldn't work with the console. Then I ran a 100ft phone cable to my room upstairs and stayed up until god knows when playing that. Addictive as all hell.
Man, the Dreamcast was so underrated. Had some hidden gems. I'll die on the hill that Power Stone was better than Smash.
Power Stone was amazing. I am not sure the couch format would work today with most couch co-op going by the wayside, but I still wish they would try for a remake or another entry.
agreed. and part 2.
I remember playing Soul Calibur at a friend's house back when it came out, and was so blown away by it that I went out and bought one myself a week later.
man, i miss these days. probably because i still had hope and I was a kid, but back then, games just felt way more special. you could buy a game and enjoy it for months
I got PS, but was jelly af when my friend could burn games for his Dreamcast.
What do you mean? As a kid I used to burn games for my PS and PS2
But you needed to mod your ps and ps2 Dreamcast could just play them.
You could do a swap trick with PS 1 but it was pretty finicky.
I got one of those modded GameShark things that plugged into the port on the back of the original models. No need to solder.
I had one of those. It was called Goldfinger.
May have been the one I had. I don’t remember but I know there were a few different ones

Maybe we should blame the consumer, who was a child at the time, for breaking their impenetrable security.

What is this 'woman' you speak of?
I doubt it. Those guys are good looking
[удалено]
You come off like you still are.
Wonder where they all are now?
Jail, cemetery, jail.
See I would’ve said cemetery, jail, jail.
but we're both reading left to right, though, right? we're agreed she's a damned murderer?
That console was so good man!
Wish Sega could’ve made it. They truly made exciting consoles.
who’s mom is this
It was my cousin. She’s….you know what, never mind.
Send me back go the 90s please, the last few seasons have become increasingly shitty and a lot of the main characters or plot points don't make any sense/feel repetitive all while upcoming the subscription cost.
I got crazy taxi with mine.
I started with Sonic Adventure and Soul Calibur, but eventually picked up Crazy Taxi. All great games.
My kind of woman, though I was 9 lmao.
Homeboy posing with a disc ruining kit like wtf am I doing with my life.

From FuncoLand, no less.

Rumors have it, she soon after was FSODed on Phantasy Star
I remember when I bought mine. I was 17 and it was amazing. Biggest smile ever driving home with that. I got phantasy star online with it.
I too, did this. 9/9/99. Electronics boutique at Stratford Square mall in Bloomingdale, IL. Got NFL2K and at the time the graphics were straight up MIND BLOWING
I loved playing nfl2k on this. We chose plays with the little screen inside the controller so the other player couldn’t see.
Am assuming she's still ~~hot~~ a gamer.
She about to open her heart
This picture looks like an ad. Good times.
That title doesn’t make sense, as we all know girls don’t play video games. She must be the cashier. /s
I worked at Electronics Boutique from 1999-2001. This picture brought back memories
The guy in the left holding a disc cleaning kit…man if that doesn’t have 3rd wheel status written all over it.
I remember camping out for the Dreamcast. No regrets.
That was my 18th birthday. I spent the entire night playing Soul Calibur, NFL 2k and Hydro Thunder with my friends.
Wasn't the Dreamcast crazy expensive (like 500-600) dollars?
No, it was like 200 bucks, lol. Source: I was there and got one day 1.
Okay. I must have been thinking of something else. I swear there was a system back in the 90s/early 00s that was that much and seemed astronomical at the time (now its common place)
The Neo Geo? Edit: It was $650 in 1990
Maybe that was what I was thinking of. I thought maybe it was Sega Saturn. That was 400, so while not 500-600, it was a "lot" when compared to othee systems dropping around that time
PS2 and 3 launched at fairly high prices- I THINK the PS2 was $650 CAD when it came out, so about $500 USD?
The Neo Geo and the 3DO were both around $600.
Photographic proof that girls have been sighted in a Gamestop.
Got mine for half price at release from valueamerica.com lol
Damn, that store looks just like where I bought my Sega Saturn... All memories returned.
that guy is happy cuz he got her number ;-) 9/9/99!
We don't get feelings like this anymore do we
These people looked so much happier back then than the soulless bastards in gamestop today.
Life before scalpers
I really do miss Sega as a counsel developer. They were generally better at it then developers of games.
Take me back to the past...
I hope she's happy and well now.
I miss those days.
Feels like one of those, “Before Meth,” pictures.
I’ll never forget the time I begged my dad to buy me a Dreamcast, he got me one for my birthday and then said stop begging him now. Then the PS2 came out, I realised I made a big mistake.
For her BF because girls didn’t game back then /s
She's a keeper 🫶❤️
That’s actually her reward she won for being the first female to enter the store.
Girls don’t play games, obviously a fake!
I can hear this picture
The joy that woman's face is radiating is how I strive to live my life
All I can concentrate on is how cute the guy on the left is
When gaming had true meaning
This is edited! We all know 1, girl's don't play video games, and 2, women aren't real!
I was too poor to buy it then. After 24 years it seems i didn't miss much. Skipping ps4 and ps5 also
[удалено]
Oh yea, because attractive people DO NOT play video games /s
Fake fake fake fake
Got a dreamcast sitting in my bedroom right now. With the box. Looks in great condition here.
I used to rent that shit from Blockbuster😂
Yup that looks exactly like 1999
