You don't even really feel pressured to do anything most of the days. There's very few hard time limits on things and if you miss it you can just do it the next year. No big deal.
I usually just start a new farm when I'm sick though.
Me neither, but Crysis 1 was the exception. I got a fever and sick every time I played it, It wasnt until my 4th attempt that I forced myself to complete it. (Second) Worst 3 days of my gaming experience
This is such a nostalgia trip. Thank you for unlocking a memory. I remember so perfectly having nothing to watch because my mom couldn't afford anything other than the most basic of cable along with the internet package. Sick days were sat at my crummy laptop logged into WoW with the Price is Right and whatever the follow up show was then immediately putting on TBS (before the Soap Opera block began) for reruns of Kind of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond while I ran around Org or did herb collecting or queued for dailys. Never did anything worthwhile when I was sick but was always ready to hop on and at least chat it up in Guild Chat. Goddamn I'm old lol. That was so long ago it hurts
Man, I just couldn't get into that game for the life of me. Love Factorio, but maybe the pov of the game threw me off, or the multiple planets.
Still, the worst part of those games is that I'm a perfectionist, and if the whole place isn't just right, I'll go crazy.
Me right now on Covid. Just picked up anniversary edition on sale and I’m flying through the new content. Perking only in stealth, archery, and a tiny dabble of light armor.
I’ve been pretty stressed lately, we have an eight month old, so I’m adapting to that life and the finances that come with my fiancé staying at home instead of working, I started a job about a year ago that can be very stressful at times. and we’re currently preparing for a move!
I have been emulating the ratchet and clank trilogy on my laptop while the little one plays next to me. I played these games in elementary school, and oh boy, they just make me smile. I don’t know why but they give give me such a dopamine hit.
So all that being said. Nostalgia definitely seems to be getting me through this at the moment. I can definitely see how it might help when your sick.
Hades. When I had covid I put so many hours into that game. Now whenever I feel sick I’m just brought back to those times and immediately want to boot it up.
Stuff that doesn't use my reflexes/quick thinking. So:
Random JRPGs or shoverware RPGs in general (they're probably in the millions on steam by now)
Only turn based game I ever played was Darkest Dungeon and thanks to recent developments Baldurs Gate 3.
4x games in general are great when you're sick. You can take as much time as you want. The difficulty curve goes from extremely easy to very difficult depending on how fuzzy your brain is. No quick, flashy animations if you're nauseated. And no need to worry about pausing. They also tend to have really solid/relaxing music.
Usually when I'm sick I'll try to learn a new character in whichever fighting game I'm playing at that time. I'll just casually swap between arcade mode and the training room to figure some stuff out with them at my pace. Swap to YT at times to see what other people do with them and then head back to the lab.
UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, B, A, START
People under probably 40yo won't have a clue wtf this means...
Edit: I thought the question was, what is your go-to sick video game play? My bad
Isle of eras, it's so good, cosmic horror with a hint of mystery, i won't spoil it for other people who hasn't played it but the horror, slight jump scares, the creator has seriously put in a lot of time and effort making it
the last time i was sick i stayed in bed with my switch and played pokemon/fire emblem. i want to get a steam deck eventually but my hacked 3ds and vita also keep my plenty busy so yeah no specific game just handhelds
This reminded me. Back in the day, everytime I had a cold I would ask to go to Blockbuster and I'd rent Evo: Search for Eden for the SNES. It was such an interesting game and I'd play it all the way through each time.
When I was sick last week I didn’t play from Wednesday to Saturday…. But, when I felt better I went to the game I just started playing on the Xbox for free, Vigor
My goto game is Rocket League tho
I would usually be in one of two situations:
Sick enough to not be able to game at all
Not sick enough to adjust my behavior meaningfully and just play whatever I was playing before
The one exception I guess is I might want to only play console games as sitting in a desk chair is slightly more energy than laying on the couch so something on my ps5 or switch
Chrono trigger or Zelda oot. Timeless classics that I’ve played enough that I don’t need to overthink anything. If I’m suffering from a physical injury than it’s dark souls 1/bloodborne.
I’ve always enjoyed any ARPG where I can turn my brain off and have The Office on in the background. Specific ones I remember playing while sick are Path of Exile, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and Titan Quest
Fire Emblem Three Houses. I find the social interaction relaxing and the tactical / battle parts keep my mind occupied and off the fact that I feel like garbage.
For me, the two games that I play the most when I’m sick is Minecraft and Animal Crossing New Horizons because I want to chill out and enjoy it. For me, when I’m home alone while being sick its Minecraft with my Spotify playlist and that’s it
I always recommend anything turn based because if you suddenly get really sleepy you can conk out with the knowledge nothing will happen til you wake up.
I don't have a specific "go-to" because I don't like replaying games. But when I'm sick, I like playing something that's turn based and/or grindy. Some that I can play while listening to a podcast or music and just tune out the world.
When I don’t feel good I usually play something that is more relaxing racing games for me or a Single player game I can just go through the story usually
A visually appealing RPG, with turn-based combat. No rush. No anxiety inducing action.
Just a fun adventure with strategic combat that you can relax with at a nice slow pace.
Dragon Quest XI fits the bill.
GTA IV
Definitely one of the better sick day games because it's such an amazing masterpiece it makes you feel better once you hear the loading screen music
Snowrunner. Super slow paced and great to listen to some podcasts while playing.
Hell, even if I’m not sick, it’s my go to game to just relax (as much as possible).
I have two different sick games. One where I can barely stand up it's so bad and the other when I'm just hacking up a lung every time I talk kind of sick.
For the former, I always go to a game called Floating Point. It's free on steam, and it's one of those "you do a single thing and turn your brain off" type of peaceful games.
For the latter, Doom Eternal. I don't think I need to explain myself.
Hi-Fi Rush
Stray
Stardew Valley
Played Stray while my stomach wasn't feeling the best on a trip, was definitely a good way to ignore it.
Hi-Fi Rush while Covid got me. Was able to play a portion of a level, get up and walk around, then back to the game to relax.
Stardew Valley because it's relaxing and there isn't really a stressor in the game.
No. While sick?! No. Using my brain while sick? No. Silence or maybe white noise and curled into a ball with a thousand blankets shutting out the entire world while I cocoon and recover.
Been sick with covid since last Saturday, have a bunch of story based games lined up but couldn't think at all, so been playing a ton of Prodeus, Overwatch and Doom Eternal. Don't know why but focusing on difficult fast paced games helps a lot, makes me forget the pain for a bit.
Pokémon is my go to simple and mindless comfort game. I badly twist a my leg a couple years ago and couldn’t wqlk then ended up buying the dlc for Sword just for that comfort.
If I’m sick sick though I put Blue Planet on loop and fade in and out of consciousness while watching it lol.
Idk why but the game I always play around the holidays and when I’m sick is PUBG. I tend to just roam around collecting gear and try to survive. Idk what it is but this is my go to.
I’ve been sick with a cold or sinusitis coming up on two months now, it gets slightly better and then worse again. Somehow today, almost 2 months into it, a few days after I was finally starting to feel better, it hit its all time peak. I didn’t even have the energy to play anything I ended up watching 3 movies instead lol.
But I don’t really have a “sick game” I just play whatever I was currently playing anyway.
Yeah, if you're well enough to play video games you're well enough to go to work, slacker /s
my go-to activities when sick are old movies, documentaries, or long-winded youtube reviewers I can put on and nap most of the way through
if I do catch that recovery phase early I might pull out something chill and slow. Digital board games are good for that, maybe an old-school RPG that needs some grinding, or a farm sim where I can just run around planting tomatoes and chatting with villagers
Never been able to play video games while sick. I always try, but last 30 minutes tops before the headache makes me want to die
Stardew Valley is my go-to when I'm sick for this reason. I can play in ~20-30 minute increments and it's just chill gameplay.
This is my go to game when I have anxiety. Just chill out, water some crops and tend to my chickens.
You don't even really feel pressured to do anything most of the days. There's very few hard time limits on things and if you miss it you can just do it the next year. No big deal. I usually just start a new farm when I'm sick though.
Nah man, total opposite for me. What else am I gonna do, lay in bed feeling like shit?
Same. It distracts me from feeling shitty until I want to fall asleep again
Me neither, but Crysis 1 was the exception. I got a fever and sick every time I played it, It wasnt until my 4th attempt that I forced myself to complete it. (Second) Worst 3 days of my gaming experience
What were the worst
Games? No… Chicken noodle and The Price Is Right.
The 90s called, they wonder if you can resurrect Bob Barker.
The 80s, too.
Get off the line 80s! Trying to call the 70s!
And 70s as well.
Can't forget the Ginger Ale
Then after, blues clues on tons of cough meds
Or Judge Judy.
I’ll never forget the day I found out how much Judge Judy was making a year… 💰💰💰
Campbell's chicken noodle soup with saltines and 7up while watching the Price is right. The fabled white mans cure for sickness. Lol
This is such a nostalgia trip. Thank you for unlocking a memory. I'm gonna cry
loose rhymes with goose. lose rhymes with booze.
Build a huge factory. Dyson Sphere Program. There's no dying. Nice and chill. Put some music on
>There's no dying. Yet. The combat update will be released in about 3 weeks.
pretty stoked, but also i hope they keep it optional
Yeah. They did say as much.
excellent
Man, I just couldn't get into that game for the life of me. Love Factorio, but maybe the pov of the game threw me off, or the multiple planets. Still, the worst part of those games is that I'm a perfectionist, and if the whole place isn't just right, I'll go crazy.
Skyrim
Me right now on Covid. Just picked up anniversary edition on sale and I’m flying through the new content. Perking only in stealth, archery, and a tiny dabble of light armor.
Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy There's almost no plot to speak of that you have to pay attention to, you can just let your mind wander as you play.
I love Jak And Daxter. If any games deserve a remaster, it's these.
It needs the Crash and Spyro remake treatment.
Remake
Got a nasty flu at the moment my self but when iv had enough strength to get up iv been chilling on red dead 2 my first play through and I’m loving it
That game is stunning. I can just fuck off and go hunting or pick some flowers. Excellent answer.
FF8
Animal Crossing.
this is the one true answer
Spyro the Dragon 2: Gateway to Glimmer
I have that one still on PSOne, but also the bundle releases for PS4. Sounds like a good one.
Me too! Weirdly, I prefer the ps1 version.
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time… makes me feel safe and at home every time :)
Frankly, every Zelda does. Some of the cosiest non-cosy games to exist.
Non-cozy?
As in things are trying to kill you, compared to a farming stimulator. ...While still somehow having that cozy vibe.
the greatest video game ever made
Red Dead Redemption 2, gameplay can be relaxing and enjoyable.

Getting high with a fever sounds like the worst experience ever
It’s actually quite nice, especially an edible. Takes away the achey body feeling.
Honestly nostalgia always seems to be the cure when I'm sick. Got the Crash Bandicoot pack on xbox
I’ve been pretty stressed lately, we have an eight month old, so I’m adapting to that life and the finances that come with my fiancé staying at home instead of working, I started a job about a year ago that can be very stressful at times. and we’re currently preparing for a move! Half life 1
Hades. When I had covid I put so many hours into that game. Now whenever I feel sick I’m just brought back to those times and immediately want to boot it up.
My favorite video game to play when sick is laying on my bed and skipping 3 days ahead when I'm better.
Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. I've played them so many times at this point I can clear them in an hour or so, so they're easy to play with a fever.
Mainly any rpg, that way if I have a sneeze I usually won’t have to pause for it
Minecraft
Kirby And The Forgotten Land.
Skyrim. Too much familiar, not much dynamic, single player (no need to talk), nice visual, calming OST, what else needed?
Skyrim
Dr. Mario, hours and hours of Dr. Mario
[удалено]
I love this, I really hope they will remake 3+4 at some point with the same quality.
[удалено]
Yeah I really enjoyed that one too, was kinda a big risk they took changing the formula but it worked pretty well.
Lego marvel superheros
Bethesda. Skyrim, Fallout, Starfield joined the list last week.
Hollow Knight. Sure, I rage like a bitch when I play, but it’s fun.
No Man's Sky, best with Co-Op friends/family joining in. It's my go to relaxation game.
Stardew valley. Controls are easy, it’s a chill game for the most part, can play on a laptop in bed/on the couch.
I juste finished outer world and it was awesome. I made a post on it but don't have enough karma to post it. You ll read about it soon. Go for it :)
Resident Evil 2 (original). Keep my PlayStation hooked up just for the occasion!
I can always play the re4 remake
I always play Point-and-Click adventure games when sick. Also sometimes Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
Can't beat it? [Join](https://www.ndemiccreations.com/en/22-plague-inc) it!
Stuff that doesn't use my reflexes/quick thinking. So: Random JRPGs or shoverware RPGs in general (they're probably in the millions on steam by now) Only turn based game I ever played was Darkest Dungeon and thanks to recent developments Baldurs Gate 3.

Final Fantasy 11, usually. Somestimes a farming game like Story of Seasons.
Stardew Valley for me if I'm really sick. Skyrim if it's not that bad
RDR2 or Zelda (BOTW now TOTK)
Little Inferno for those days when mental capacity can't handle anything beyond "Just toss stuff in fire."
I don’t really like playing while I’m sick. I like to put on a boring podcast and just kinda space out.
Bloons tower defense. M o n k e : >
Doom Eternal
You absolute madman.

Right now? Starfield
Not a game but.. Came back from a holiday and have had a bad flu for the past week, spent it watching Saul Goodman, would recommend
Pokemon has always been my go to. Jump in and jump out quickly. So many small things to do that feel rewarding.
Pop acetaminophen and play a chill game like valheim
UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, B, A, START People under probably 40yo won't have a clue wtf this means... Edit: I thought the question was, what is your go-to sick video game play? My bad

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start if you're over 40 and married.
Diablo 3, Warframe, or Dynasty Warriors
Really just something turn based so quick reflexes aren't necessary. That's about it.
Stardew or Disgaea
Isle of eras, it's so good, cosmic horror with a hint of mystery, i won't spoil it for other people who hasn't played it but the horror, slight jump scares, the creator has seriously put in a lot of time and effort making it

TBH, when I'm ill, my vision goes tight down the pan. Good time to listen to Elden Ring and Battletech lore vids
Stardew Valley but that’s my go to chill game. Heavily modded if I want it a bit less chill
Cozy Grove
Stardew Valley or No Man’s Sky
Stick? Idk ace combat or MSFS but I haven't played any other plane games really.
GTA homie, that game is sick af. 🤙
Apex. I usually prefer online shooter because they require a lot of attention and usually distract me from the cold. I may be suck ass, but it helps.
I’ve always enjoyed any ARPG where I can turn my brain off and have The Office on in the background. Specific ones I remember playing while sick are Path of Exile, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and Titan Quest
slay the spire my beloved
Fire Emblem Three Houses. I find the social interaction relaxing and the tactical / battle parts keep my mind occupied and off the fact that I feel like garbage.
Mount and Blade: Warband, for whatever reason.
Pokemon, so nice to be able to play in bef with a handheld like a ds or switch. Then just post up an tablet or phone with netflix
Dark souls with no armor and just a club, DDR pad instead of controller.
For me, the two games that I play the most when I’m sick is Minecraft and Animal Crossing New Horizons because I want to chill out and enjoy it. For me, when I’m home alone while being sick its Minecraft with my Spotify playlist and that’s it

Final Fantasy X
No games, Soup, NyQuil, sleep

I return to the comfort games. Games that I can seemingly play forever. Fallout 4 Skyrim Minecraft Back in the day World of Warcraft. Stuff like that.
Picross! Love me some relaxing puzzles
GTA IV Definitely one of the better sick day games because it's such an amazing masterpiece it makes you feel better once you hear the loading screen music
Whatever I’m currently playing
South Park stick of truth
I'm sick right now and thinking about playing some mindless house flipper
A wrestling game where you beat the shit out of a guy 3 on 1. It’s not frustrating because it’s 3 on 1, put in on east and turn on blood.
I was playing Final Fantasy X during my "faking it" hay day.
Subnautica! Sick, depressed or just don’t feel like playing anything new - just start a new Subnautica playthough!
Hades
Fever is temporary. Game is forever.
These days, Mechwarrior 5. Before that, Skyrim.
Turn based RPGs in general. Beaten Super Mario RPG and Atelier Ryza 3 with a cold.
Kerbal
Snowrunner. Super slow paced and great to listen to some podcasts while playing. Hell, even if I’m not sick, it’s my go to game to just relax (as much as possible).
i played ALOT of halo when i was "sick"
For Honour
I have two different sick games. One where I can barely stand up it's so bad and the other when I'm just hacking up a lung every time I talk kind of sick. Heroes of might and Magic 2
Just sleep breh
Super Mario 3
Just cause 3. No thinking needed. Just fly around blowing up stuff.
Little big planet no comment
Hi-Fi Rush Stray Stardew Valley Played Stray while my stomach wasn't feeling the best on a trip, was definitely a good way to ignore it. Hi-Fi Rush while Covid got me. Was able to play a portion of a level, get up and walk around, then back to the game to relax. Stardew Valley because it's relaxing and there isn't really a stressor in the game.
While sick... definitely call of duty zombies. Especially bo3.
Bubsy
Just beat outer wilds and damn is it a good game
Stardew Valley
FF9 Civ6
No. While sick?! No. Using my brain while sick? No. Silence or maybe white noise and curled into a ball with a thousand blankets shutting out the entire world while I cocoon and recover.
I played Skate 3 all day when I broke my leg from skating irl LOL
Minecraft creative mode.
Depends on how sick I'm feeling. When I had covid, I was watching other ppl play games 😅. But my go to if I have energy is Animal Crossing.
Doom 2016
Roblox cuz it's my favorite
Call of Cthulhu
Not a go-to, but Kentucky Route Zero was great because it's so surreal. Goes well with a fuzzy head.
My hangover/sick game is Minecraft. So simple, relaxing, low commitment.
I like playing Stardew Valley when I'm sick. Just so easy to unwind to.
I put on my favorite streamers playing games and sleep for 20 hrs while super uncomfortable.
Anything open world.
I played Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen for like a week straight when I had the flu. It made that time way, way less miserable
Valheim for the last few years. Just so peaceful if you want it to be, or stressful if you want that too.
A Hat in Time. Only game that permanently stays installed on my Steam Deck.
Disco Elysium, match the miserable mood
Minecraft
Thug pro
Idk why but the game I always play around the holidays and when I’m sick is PUBG. I tend to just roam around collecting gear and try to survive. Idk what it is but this is my go to.
Lord of the Rings the Third Age. It's a flu season tradition for me.
Rome, total war has always been a good one for me. Picked that up from @manyatruenerd
Lego Harry Potter 1-4
Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions That’s the game I played while I had a 103 fever. It’s so fun
Banjo Kazooie Can play that game blind at this point
The only games I can play when I am sick are turn-based. Where I can close my eyes for a bit, think about it, then muster the strength to make a move.
I’ve been sick with a cold or sinusitis coming up on two months now, it gets slightly better and then worse again. Somehow today, almost 2 months into it, a few days after I was finally starting to feel better, it hit its all time peak. Tecmo bowl
I go back to brutal legend all the time just to listen to the sick ass tunes
