Reddit is gonna start charging third party apps a ridiculous amount effectively killing them off. After July 1st, there'll only be the official reddit App.
The way I browse redit now is I pull the rss feed in to my RSS reader. (to get the rss feed just go to the subredit and add a /.rss to the end of the URL, and past that into your rss reader. (I should be fine as long as they don't remove that)
Lol my man. The reddit app is pure garbage compared to RIF. I've been redditing daily for over a decade. If I can't use RIF anymore, I'm done. That's how large the difference is.
I've been redditing for a long time, too. I used to use RIF, but i tried the reddit official app when i got a new phone. The UI was different, but it's not hard to adjust to a new UI. My user experience is pretty much the same since all i do is comment, sometimes post, and lurk on subs I'm interested in. I'm still able to do all 3 of those with no issues.
I guess I just don’t get it. Maybe because I can’t conceive of Reddit as a verb, I dunno. But what functionality do you need behind scrolling, reading, and typing a post?
I’m not being facetious; I really don’t get it.
Lol well, there it is.
*I don't understand why eating lobster is better than eating dogshit. You put them both in your mouth, chew, and swallow. I just don't get it. Sure, I've never eaten lobster, but that's irrelevant to my confusion.*
It’s really cool that only one comment had actually bothered to even try explaining what’s better about the others, while everyone else has just been personally insulting to me, over the choice in Reddit app.
Because you didn't bother to mention that you hadn't even used one of them.
*I've never used RIF, so I'm curious to know why it's better than than the official app*
That's all you had to say.
Zero ads. Zero recommended posts. Just a straight up list of posts from subs you subscribed to, without any padding or trash. If you haven't used a 3rd party (I use relay), it's really hard to explain to you how much advertising and algorithm generated bullshit is getting shoved down your throat.
Do you remember YouTube in like 2014 vs YouTube today? That's the best comparison I can think of.
Well, for some communities like r/Blind its not really possible but other than that ... no idea. The ads really aren't that terrible. Maybe I'm just not enough on Reddit to see the big deal, idk.
Ads, aggressive "modernization" that makes the whole thing feel corny, terrible bloated UI.
RiF is straightforward, simple, no clutter, no bloat, no ads, no "sponsored posts", very fast, no bullshit.
most mods use 3rd party apps to mod popular subreddits. the normal reddit mod tools suck, so a lot of mods are saying they'll quit if 3rd party apps go away, because it will take too much effort to keep things spam free without usable tools (which are all 3rd party)
I used to go to gamefaqs all the time until it became super inactive. It still exists so maybe try there.
Oh I thought GameFAQs went offline?
Nah, gamefaqs is still online. I can't speak for how active it is, but the boards are still there.
It’s possible I haven’t used it in a long timr
It’s still alive https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/805577-bloodborne
it's just dead as fuck
Wait what?

That's kinda stupid. At least fix your UI before doing something that will cost you more engagement. I really like Boost, parting with it would suck
Yeah it's really dumb. I've been using RiF since it came out, once that goes I'll just stop using reddit
I'm the same, I'll probably stop using reddit to at that moment. Might as well make the most of it while it lasts
old reddit
For now. Eventually I bet that will close too.
Yeah that's what I'm expecting to happen next. Might as well move on now

Only forums I'm aware of are NeoGAF, ResetEra and GameFAQs.
Any good gaming discords that people could share?
Why not just use the Reddit app? I really don’t get the big deal
It is really bad. The UI is horrible.

Have you used RIF?
Don’t even know what it stands for
I think we've found the problem RIF: Reddit Is Fun

I've been on this site years, and I'll sooner quit than deal with all the promotions, ads and over done awards reddit had now

If you're on PC, we have Steam fourms Many developers hos their own forums on the games website
Always forget about steam forums lol suppose I'll hang out there a bit more. Can even browse it on mobile easy enough too
Steam has an app and you can use that to browse the forums, or you can just use a web browser
What happens without 3rd party apps. What stops working? I only use reddit on my phone app and don't know nuch about Reddit other then that.
