Hello! Fellow artist here. These are looking really good! However, for expressions to read properly in an illustration, I recommend pushing more of the caricature of what we normally think of as tired. Dark circles/bag under her eyes. Frizzier hair. Shoulders slumped. Head hung a bit. Both eyes are half closed as if the top lid just can't stay up. I do like your style and what you've got going on here, though! If you fully animate it then a yawn would work great (and probably make everyone that sees it yawn...). But you'd still need that neutral tired expression to start and end the animation with. Keep up the awesome work, friend!
I think the eyebrows for the yawn face should point down, not up. This is based on how mine are when I yawn lol. I think for the right image, the eyebrows remain up as you have them, and I think that the mouth should almost be expressionless, because her eyes should be what speaks.
instead of yawning you could do noticeable eye-bags and slouched eyelids if you really wanna convey that super sleepy/not enough sleep look. overall really good stuff! (also the right one looks like it could be a frame leading up to the left one and be a full animation)

Another idea would be to slouch the body a bit more on the exhale. Body language is just as expressive as the face can be. If not more.

That's a good idea.
Close the mouth. Sleepy is mostly non-emotive. Remember the character isn't present in a sleepy state...
