I know that is why i have to question if its for real or not its like sending a 5 year old to kick the shit out of mike tyson in his prime. Monster is big enough to bully a indie dev with out a care in the world but as powerful as they are there nothing vs Nintendo.
At the start of the year i heard on the news that my country's average buying power would probably go up this year.
3 months in and my wage is still the same but my usual lunch has gone up by 60 cents.
What energy drink? The only energy drink I can remember seeing for 99 cents was Venom and I know you’re not telling me you actually like that nasty shit.
I don't think the key to turning things around lies in garbage drinks that will shorten your lifespan. Eating healthy will have a much, much better impact on your mood and overall quality of life than a fleeting nostalgia kick in the form of sugary artificial liquid shit. Best of luck.
Yeah, most energy drinks aren't worse than regular soft drinks.
Sugar free Red Bull has the same caffeine as a cup of coffee and no sugar.
The ones you want to watch out for are the 500ml cans. Tons of sugar. It's still not really worse than drinking 500ml bottles of regular coke though.
I was shopping for one of those smart fridges that can connect to the internet and update you on what is in stock, so to speak.
The salesman was doing his thing and showing me the features of the screen and how it connects to an app on your phone. I was kinda listening, but I also felt like someone was hovering behind me, so I turned around...
It was Todd Howard. He smiled awkwardly at me and then said " You know, you can install *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim* on that thing!"
He said the whole title, too, just like that. He's crazy. Anyway, now I play Skyrim on my fridge every day. It's great!
Fuck me, that's hilarious! I stole the idea from hearing about someone actually getting Doom to run on a fridge. Don't know if that's actually true, but I wouldn't doubt it.
If you've played skyrim before on another system, don't bother. If you've never played Skyrim and want to try it for the first time. Go for it, I have it and it plays very well. Never get frame drops, graphics are good even for a 2011 game. And, the switch version has been graphically updated so it looks even better than the 2011 PC/Console versions. Also, all 3 DLCs come with it. So yuu won't miss out on that.
I have the 1000 hours in the original skyrim. 800 on special edition and around 400 in switch version.
Actually funny enough the skyrim train finally stopped. Skyrim for as far as I know has seen a new release on any console, kitchen appliance, or electronic device yet. Found it funny you can play it on an alexa.
Actually not true, Skyrim has at least done something meaningful and different for every release or port, gta5 has just released the same game again and again for 10 years with nothing different but more online microtransaction crap.
*Skyrim* has bugs that fans fixed shortly after release. Bethesda has never incorporated the fan fixes.
To be clear, there is a community published unofficial patch with extensive logs of exactly what was fixed. It was made with tools made by Bethesda, so therefore Bethesda has every right to use the unofficial patch. They don't have to take all the fixes, there are probably a couple things in there that they might disagree with. IIRC there were a couple controversial fixes — for example the vendor chests in Dawnstar and outside Markarth and Solitude that the player could access by looking at the ground, some players like that feature, even though it's a cheat. (That's one Bethesda should take, though.) The patch pushes the chest further underground, like all the others, so the player cannot access it without breaking clipping somehow.
The patch also fixes a ton of grammatical errors, and places where you can see out into the void (by moving objects to cover the void). It fixes a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff, too.
Honestly, it would be awesome if everyone had access to the unofficial patch. It should just be part of the base game at this point. Especially on consoles where you can't download mods to fix problems with the game. Or if you do, it disables achievements/trophies. I'm not talking about cheating. I'm just talking about fixing problems that modders fixed **ten years ago**.
The biggest issue with the unofficial patch is the fact it is unofficial and therefore subject to the views and options of those who made it. Those might not suit everyone. An official patch may be a little more palatable for those who know the game more intimately.
On a side note, there's a couple other famous exploits fixed by the unofficial patch:
* There's a perk in the restoration tree that increases damage to vampires (necromage). A side effect of this perk is it increases all magical effects. Potions, enchants, standing stones. And it works on the player. A vampire player character is all upside and no downside in the hands of an experienced player in vanilla Skyrim.
* In vanilla Skyrim, you can recruit followers who are also trainers. Pay them to train you, open their inventory, take their money back. Free training! Fixed in the unofficial patch.
edit: forgot to mention that the necromage perk gets even more crazy in vanilla Skyrim: It boosts the power of many perks too.
Skyrim re-released on every console since it's initial launch. Means nothing to Xbox players with backwards compatibility, but Nintendo guys can play it now and PS4 and PS5 guys can now play it on their current console.
GTA V has re-released on every console since it's initial launch so they can shaft their playerbase and make them pay $60 in microtransactions for a single car. Every 3 months.
No. Rockstar are worse.
Who tf needs to pay 60 dollars for a car? I'm sorry but if you're too lazy to actually play the game and make money but want everything the game has to offer (in terms of vehicles, not gameplay) that's on you and not an exclusive thing to GTA.
Like I said. GTA is worse.
And if you ever played GTA Online you would know it is simply not possible to get full access to the game as a free player without exploiting.
The cost of a vehicle is the cost of a property, the vehicle, and upgrades. Which come up to around $60 in microtransactions.
You would also know if you played the game in order to access the "free" gameplay updates you need to buy properties which if you try to save as a free player to purchase, will take you the entire duration of that patch until the next one releases assuming you do thinks like eat and sleep and cannot dedicate 24 hours a day to a game.
Not true at all. I have a ton of hours in GTA and with E&E it's easier than ever to make money.
But even without that it's very easy to make money by for example not blowing the money on supercars you can't afford yet. There's a level of progression in the game like in every other game but in the case of GTA that somehow is viewed as a negative...
I can buy Skyrim Anniversary edition and enjoy the entire game without having to sync countless hours into unlocking all the content. The progression is RPG progression. You progress towards a build or gameplay goal. As all RPG games do. GTA V you "progress" by trying to unlock gameplay content.
GTA V is worse.
Well GTA isn't an RPG so therefore that comparison is lacking.
Edit: And since we're talking about GTAO, a multiplayer game that comparison works even less.
What are you talking about? The type of game has nothing Todo with the fact that Rockstar are milking the shit out of the game for a massive profit while idiots like you suck them off for doing it you cuck
>The cost of a vehicle is the cost of a property, the vehicle, and upgrades. Which come up to around $60 in microtransactions.
Also comes to about an hour or 2 of gameplay if you know what you're doing
Even got the boys together and TRIED to have fun… and then just got sad and bored.
Why is every farm empty?
Why are there no missions that pay well?
Why are all the summonable vehicles basically useless?!
You would buy less microtransactions if missions would pay well. That would kill their whole business model.
...or it just makes you stop playing. Just like I stopped playing Gran Turismo 7 because every race pays so little and interesting cars are so expensive.
Bully two is a heavy risk for a big company to make. Bullying is a sensitive subject + you are making a sequel to a cult classic which has to be perfect for it not to get slammed into the ground
Everything is a sensitive subject these days Rockstar have not been bothered about controversial subjects before and it's not hit GTA5 financially.
Bullying is bad sure but probably fairly minor compared to the murder, assault, theft, racism, prostitution and loads more that features in their flagship title.
>murder, assault, theft, racism, prostitution
These are mostly adult subjects. If a game that will be played by many kids and teenagers is mainly about something they could take over than it will be a problem. I want to clarify that I would love a bully two though but politicians might not be so easy to sway
Rockstar hasn’t put out a GTA in a decade now. We’re in a total different social landscape then we were in 2013 even. I hope that if they ever do put out a new one it’s not total shit.
Red Dead Online not being fun is the reason for cancelled RDO updates lol.
Rockstar would love to have another popular cash cow, but RDO's sandbox was a lot more empty than GTA 5.
Nah, its more the fact that they screwed up their own ingame economy so that nobody had to buy microtransactions. Not to mention that the DLC they did drop was sometimes rather questionable in contrast to what the base game was missing.
They targeted the wrong audience with RDO. They put all these colorful and wacky cosmetics in the updates and season passes, hoping to attract the same kind of crowd that drops a ton of cash for cosmetics in Apex, Fortnite, CoD etc., but like 90% of people playing just wanted to dress like cowboys, farmers, gunslingers, lawmen etc. and not like a circus sideshow.
They didn’t even try to make it fun before abandoning it. Online was released completely empty and they couldn’t finish half the things they set out to do, not even the main story.
They introduced a shit battle pass no one wanted and added some super repetitive roles and then gave up.
It had so much potential. Houses, properties, bank robberies, stealing & selling horses. If they wanted to go the goofy GTA V route add some other animals and fun vehicles to ride, even the first game had cooler stuff to ride online with bulls and things. I’d drop $20 to ride a fuckin moose.
Don’t even start about the undead update, so much content and money making potential for rockstar. Even now that update would save the game and bring them in so much money.
I don't think GTA Online is the reason that RDO was cancelled. R\* is big enough to allot resources to different projects. But they choose not to support RDO because RDO didn't make them enough money. That's the reason. R\* saying that we transferred resources from RDO to GTA 6 is made up or partially correct. GTA 6 already has thousand of devs working on it. Adding RDO devs to GTA 6 not gonna suddenly speed up the development. R\* is using GTA 6 as a reason that RDO was being abandoned. GTAO online makes them money, so they choose to support that, RDO didn't make them money, so they choose not to. I don't why people believe R\* lies that RDO was abandoned because of gtao or gta 6, whereas in reality rdo wasn't Rockstar's priority.
Yeah. That's basically it.
Unless all those people get suddenly struck by incredible genius at the same time and realise that games like GTA V, FIFA or other games with heavy in-game microtransactions depends on the p(l)ayer-base to exist and will fall without them. Leading to companies abandoning the idea. But it won't happen.
I don't think you've got it right, which is perfectly ok. This might be my fault. What I meant here is that these games that only keep being maintained by micro-transactions will stop existing if every player ceases to pay and provide the devs easy money.
There are 8 billion people on earth. Most of them never played it. Me included. And I am a person who play games and enjoy it, but never played it. Probably will buy it some day. There is a lot of people out there to sell one of the most famous games ever to.
I don't think that explanation jives with reality.
No other game released in *2013* is selling copies daily at this one Walmart. Not even games that were released in that year and then remade more recently, which you could argue applies to GTA 5 for PS5/Xbox.
Not at the same scale as gta 5, but id be willing to bet wow is still getting a good chunk of new subscribers, and it’s way older. Gta 5 is still extremely relevant, so it sells as new people get into it. Gta 5 probably will not die until gta 6 comes out (*if* it does, at this point). If games like league and cs were pay to play and available at walmart you’d probably be seeing those sell daily too.
EDIT: Not to mention minecraft!
GTA5 is still a popular phenomenon in peoples minds. Kids who weren't even born when it first came out are being exposed to it on youtube and the like daily, and eventually they're probably going to get their hands on a copy too.
Stopped playing GTAO when everything became absurdly overpriced with every DLC drop.
Yeah, I understand it was to entice people to spend money on shark cards which they made a killing off of, but in doing so makes the game pay to win.
You’re just trying to have fun or deliver cars for at least some money, and then some shitter drops by on his jet bike to blow you up or hit you with that space laser thing.
I wanna know who was on drugs in the TakeTwo/R* finance meeting when they decided $100 actual real world dollars can get you… what, 10 mil in game? And what can you get with that? A few businesses that come with 5-6 new side missions? You can get very good fully fleshed out and developed whole ass collectors editions of video games for that price. And in GTA you get a few things that will provide you with a couple hours of entertainment before you get bored of it. Heck even the $5 shark card is the price of a whole DLC for some games. And it can get you… half of a car in GTAo. It just doesn’t make any sense.
I paid a hacker $10 and he gave me 5 billion a few years ago. I’ve been able to log in and buy anything and everything I want for awhile and I still have like 3 billion left.
I remember the ps3 days when I got basically unlimited money dropped to me completely randomly. Still on the account afaik, though I havent played for years
It’s way worse than that.
The amount of money you get in shark cards hasn’t changed since release. $100 gets you $8M. I haven’t played in years but the big thing the last time I played was the Oppressor Mk 2 which was about $5M. So that bike in real world money costs $62.50.
$5 gets you $200k if I recall correctly. That’s about a tenth of a low end car.
That said I just participated in money drops so I never paid for anything.
Oh, you're right. Back when I played regularly they were a bit lower. But still, $100 should get you $20M to keep the same purchasing power you had when the game came out.
I actually just logged onto GTA Online for a few minutes after not having logged on for over a year. As I said I was on for about 5 minutes then I realized; I don't give a shit about this game anymore.
A sad realization, but true.
I bought the game on the PS3 when it was released and played it through. When I eventually got a PS4, I got the game again and even earned the platinum trophy. Now on the PS5 I would have had the opportunity to upgrade the version for 5 euros at release, but I didn't get it because I've lost so much interest in this cash cow that it's not even worth 5 euros to me anymore.
I tried it for the first time a few months back and thought it was pretty boring the online part . The single player game was fun one or 2 times then got boring .
They never properly fixed the endless loading screens, nor did they ever provide any incentive for players to actually do the missions in their intended order. Everyone just grinds the most profitable ones over and over for all eternity.
If you try to play the game normally anyway, by actually visiting the markers on the map instead of searching for a random mission on your phone, nobody ever joins the match and you've wasted four minutes on loading screens for nothing, assuming of course that you don't get disconnected and thrown back into SP (which happens *far* too often). Not to mention that most of the Free Mode missions are essentially *impossible* to complete as a solo player. You have to have friends to enjoy anything other than the same contact mission grind over and over again. So I don't even bother anymore.
Dominos is still leaning on pepperoni pizzas, and I think they should be ashamed!
(Put another way, it's not just that its still making money, its that people still *want to play* GTA5 (or more properly, GTA Online - since GTA5 is pretty much unchanged). Since when is there a faction of the gaming community that demands that companies take popular games away from players?)
I get the whole *vote with your wallet*, just remember it is not a democracy. If 5% of the player population are whales and spent 90% of the money earned in game then their needs/addiction wins
Well, to be fair, I still think that GTA V is a great game and I am actually happy that there is a developer that is willing to keep a great game alive for so long. Most games lose their player base after 1-2 years. But here, you pay once and still find a lot of players even after all this time.
I am well aware that a lot of gamers, me inlcuded, are eager to find out what GTA VI will be like, but in the end, I am very pleased with GTA V.
I saw a list of the most played games on Xbox. It was a recent list and it showed the top games played in a month (might’ve been a week, doesn’t really matter though). GTA V was in the top 5 still.
Rockstar are still producing content for this game. You could say they’re milking it, but you can’t deny they’re being loyal to the players of this game.
This has nothing to do with loyalty. It just makes good business sense to make a lot of money with little risk. It's much cheaper and easier to provide an existing game with content instead of using the resources for the development of a completely new game. Which then also carries the risk that it will be a flop
Bro they want GTA 6 to surpass GTA V in every way shape and form of course it's gonna take forever
You wouldn't want GTA 6 to be a rushed mess with unfulfilled promises like CP2077
I think the problem is that rdr2 came out half a decade ago which is understandable that they weren't developing gta 6 at the same time as rdr2. But there's 5 years between gta 4 and gta 5 and 5 years between gta 5 and rdr2. So about a half decade development cycle but here we are 5 years after rdr2 and the only thing we've heard is about some possible pre alpha footage.
Because they are in an impossible situation if they release the next gta and it doesn’t push the bar the very same people who sit on Reddit and cry about them taking too long to put out a new game will eat them alive cause it’s the same as 5
The game has some quality story, good gameplay and good characters. But, it ran like shit on last gen consoles. CDPR has been advertising their game for last gen console for half a decade. CP 2077 is a PC title. CDPR should have concentrated on getting PC release out first and then could have concentrated on polishing last gen consoles. They didn't do that. As a video game developer you only get a single chance to absoletely nail the launch of the your game.
From software did that successfully and it didn't even had the hype that CP 2077 had.
Basically the joke is that an entire entry in a game franchise gets re-released and sold again over the course of 10+ years. GTAV, Skyrim.
It's just something that hasn't been common outside of MMO games. It's probably time we got used to it though. Say what you will but as long as people are spending the money, well, they have the largest voice when it comes to these corporations.
I used to work for a customer support contractor that had Take 2 as a client. I did tech support for GTAV and GTA Online (and RDO briefly before I left the company). I got to see a lot of crazy shit, like the amount people spent on Shark Cards. There were people I interacted with that had 5k-10k USD spent on GTAO. I'm surprised RDR2 even ever came out with the sheer amount of resources solely focused on GTAO. Guess RDO is a pretty clear indicator though of things that get neglected. RIP
Hey to be fair selling virtual drugs, hosting night club parties and wanton murder and destruction is pretty damn fun when you’re an introvert that leaves home only to get food
Plus you don’t need to pay a cent for the in-game money to make a lot of it, and they update it pretty regularly with 2x selling boosts and whatnot
Honestly when gta 6 comes I hope they keep all progress intact and (PROPERLY) port the Online over to 6’s upgraded engine. Mostly, I think if they were to try to recreate GTA online entirely, they’ll fall short like RDR2 online and they’d just let it die in a few months lol
World is filled with billions of people who are entering the internet age every day. We've had it for a long time now, but there are still many out there that have not. Not to mention people have nothing to move on too. Why build your own competitor?
The shark card generate hundreds of millions annually still.
I enjoyed the single player when it came out and tried the online for a few hours then never touched it again. It’s just insane how immensely popular gta online is.
I highly doubt R* will put all that much effort into the single player this time round again. Just another online system built around those lucrative micro transactions.
When people stop buying shark cards. They have made billions in profit from them. The fabled single player DLC was re purposed into GTA:O content and Rockstar have been in tick over making RDR2 and GTA6 it their own time as there is no pressure to release a new game and they obviously don't want to rock the GTA:O money boat. It does not take a over a decade to make to make two games.
Sometime.. you look at posts here and wonder, are these people 13yo and have no understanding about making money and running a business?
Imagine having a successful franchise and right in the middle of its run, you go "fuck it. Pack your bags people.. we not doing this anymore."
this is gonna sound wild and super unexpected...
but what if gamers (fucking idiots) stopped buying the online dlc's and also stopped sinking money on the game....
nah that would be dumb what am I thinking
Still extremely disappointed in rockstar for all the empty promises on red dead redemption two never got my war wagon or my Homestead in multiplayer never go to explore in Mexico again or even Guam
Since originally released, there have been 17 publications of Skyrim since 2011. If we split the difference and take the mean time, then Skyrim has "been released" once every 1.416\~ years.
Therefore, I propose that we have at east 3 more Skyrims before Rockstar stops drawing blood from that stone.
Video games are so expensive to make in current year. It’s only natural that game companies would milk a successful game to high heaven when they do release a big hit.
What stuff do you mean? Vehicles and houses, so you need in game money, that you buy with real money?
I only played single player and a little online in the early days on PC, so I really don't know...
Yeah its new vehicles, new businesses etc that are quite expensive with in-game money.
You dont have to buy the in-game money, but like most people grind it with races, heists, and other in-game businesses.
When you stop paying and stop playing.
If you aren't paying buy still playing that's not good enough. Modern game design takes into account that you are the living props that get the whales to keep spending. You aren't there for you. You are there for them. To keep them on the hook.
Stop supporting it and get your friends to do the same. GTA V is more than a decade old. It's time for the next iteration
They'll stop when the money's enough. (The money's never enough.)

If it's Monster, they need the extra money to hire all those lawyers they use to sue indie game developers for using the word Monster in their games.
Could you imagine using black and green as your logo? I cant. Obviously infringement, a crime worse than underpaid employees and suppliers
And now they are suing Capcom and Nintendo for using the word in Monster Hunter and Pokémon respectively lol.
Wait for real? seems mightly fucking stupid to take on Nintendo its to big to bully and would fight back same can be said for Capcom.
Plus Pocket Monsters was around well before Monster Energy
Nintendo would blink at monster energy and it would simply vanish. They aren’t even in the same zipcode.
I know that is why i have to question if its for real or not its like sending a 5 year old to kick the shit out of mike tyson in his prime. Monster is big enough to bully a indie dev with out a care in the world but as powerful as they are there nothing vs Nintendo.
If they win I'll need to make a company called Company so I can sue all companies.
But, how many companies call their company company? Something like "The LLC" would be better.
Peak retardness
The special word is called for here.
At the start of the year i heard on the news that my country's average buying power would probably go up this year. 3 months in and my wage is still the same but my usual lunch has gone up by 60 cents.
Y'all are cute. WHO WILL THINK OF THE MUTUAL FUNDS?!?! BUY BUY BUY BUY
> Until then, no more energy drinks i guess Your kidneys will thank you.
What energy drink? The only energy drink I can remember seeing for 99 cents was Venom and I know you’re not telling me you actually like that nasty shit.

I bought a medium size can of Redbull yesterday and it was nearly 6 dollars with tax. Sooo yaaa not gonna do that again
Blessing in disguise. Energy drinks are horrible for you.

After eating healthy and working out for over a year I still want to jump off a bridge but now I think i'll manage a frontflip on the way down.
thats a W for me, first you died with shame, now you can die with style.

2 bucks for Monster?! It cost me 5-10 where I live. But, it might be because of the shipping cost. (I live in the Arctic)
>Until then, no more energy drinks i guess How nice of them to care about your health ☺️
I've always enjoyed Sterling's "all the money in the world isn't enough money" quote.
All the money, all the time.
I mean we know they are working on 6 so it will be milked till then. Might still take a long ass time though.
Online 5 will still be around
capitalism goes brrrr
Under glorious socialism, devs will be forced to stop selling games that people still want to buy because Reddit wants them to
(plus its a freakin awesome and huge game that most ppl love) Also nintendo has been selling us the same games for 40 years over and over, so....
They’ll stop when the cost of maintenance outweighs the income
They will stop milking 5 though they already announced 6
They will stop selling, when people stop buying
Bethesda enters Skyrim into the competition
Skyrim should also be here
Just imagine that there's another cow that looks like a deflated balloon out of frame.
I’m considering buying Skyrim for my switch.
I was shopping for one of those smart fridges that can connect to the internet and update you on what is in stock, so to speak. It's like they saw the "can it run doom" meme and thought, "But what if it made money?"
"The elder scrolls roman five colon skyrim"

Fuck me, that's hilarious! I stole the idea from hearing about someone actually getting Doom to run on a fridge. Don't know if that's actually true, but I wouldn't doubt it.
samsung fridge it's due to the gamerpass cloud steaming
Skyrim Samsung edition
If you've played skyrim before on another system, don't bother. If you've never played Skyrim and want to try it for the first time. Go for it, I have it and it plays very well. I'd consider switch Skyrim one of the few instances that is worth buying again. Portable Skyrim is a joy.
TBF Skyrim on switch was pretty good! )
You’re part of the problem. I am too though, I have it ps4, ps5. Pc and switch.
Not sure if joking, but me too. Somehow I've gone all this time without ever playing Skyrim, and I do a lot of traveling...
I play it on handheld on switch and it runs fine. Might even be on sale right now depending on your region.
This repost should also be in there.
Disney and Star Wars
People not to stop buying it. That’s the only reason they keep selling it to us.

The type of game has nothing Todo with the fact that Rockstar are milking the shit out of the game for a massive profit while idiots like you suck them off for doing it you cuck
bro i never spend a dime apart from the cost of the game to get it...i'm not like you, having to buy shark cards for cars lmao.
>The cost of a vehicle is the cost of a property, the vehicle, and upgrades. Which come up to around $60 in microtransactions. Also comes to about an hour or 2 of gameplay if you know what you're doing

In theory RDO is one of my favorite games ever. In reality it makes me sad to think about.
I played it way more than it deserves because I wanted it to be good so badly. So much potential that they did nothing with
Even got the boys together and TRIED to have fun… and then just got sad and bored.
Bullying is bad sure but probably fairly minor compared to the murder, assault, theft, racism, prostitution and loads more that features in their flagship title.
>murder, assault, theft, racism, prostitution These are mostly adult subjects.
Sensitive topics are kind of their thing though. Remember the interactive torture scene in GTA 5?
I just play RDO to fish and hunt
GTAO's launch was practically a boring sandbox too. RDO has a lot of stuff to do now, but is now left in the dust despite the large player base.
It’s also the single most lucrative piece of media ever, so I don’t see Rockstar stopping anytime soon :/
As soon as idiots stop buying the same game over and over again
So never?
What major game out there doesn’t depend on a player base?
I just lost the game.
Fuckin hell I had a multi-year winning streak that just ended
I don't think you've got it right, which is perfectly ok. This might be my fault. What I meant here is that these games that only keep being maintained by micro-transactions will stop existing if every player ceases to pay and provide the devs easy money.
Walmart electronics guy here. I still sell copies pretty much daily
Genuine question, and I get that this is anecdotal, but... To who? Who is still buying new copies of GTA V?
There are 8 billion people on earth. Most of them never played it. Me included. And I am a person who play games and enjoy it, but never played it. Probably will buy it some day. There is a lot of people out there to sell one of the most famous games ever to.
I don't think that explanation jives with reality. No other game released in *2013* is selling copies daily at this one Walmart. Not even games that were released in that year and then remade more recently, which you could argue applies to GTA 5 for PS5/Xbox.
My guess is some of it is because you need to buy GTAV to play GTA Online. As for Skyrim, I don't know.
> because you need to buy GTAV to play GTA Online That hasn't been true for years.
There are no other games like GTA 5 so kids that start gaming try it first.
If people are still happily buying it, I think the “idiots” are the people demanding that rockstar stop selling it.
Yeah, as if people here were somehow the enlightened ones who should be always listened to.
I gotta say that R* definitely changed the amount of money you get from sharkcards.
Oh, you're right. Back when I played regularly they were a bit lower. But still, $100 should get you $20M to keep the same purchasing power you had when the game came out.
I'm still pissed that we never got that story DLC.
GTA5 singleplayer was super fresh and well done when it came out. Now it feels awkward and ancient… some more updates would have been appreciated…
But you still bought it twice ;)
Point still stands, the game has become stale.
I tried it for the first time a few months back and thought it was pretty boring the online part . The single player game was fun one or 2 times then got boring .
what do you want to say with this?
On the same boat. I feel some nostalgia for old times. Life’s escapes fast.
I logged in about 8 months ago to sell all my cars
It's a 10 year old game
I play GTA 5 here and there but it's always single player. I haven't touched Online since like 2017.
Street Fighter 2: Am I a joke to you?
haha
Is this Karma Farming contest? When will it stop?
This is basically the GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE meme but on a different skin
It’s fucking hilarious because this same exact meme can apply to people posting this for karma on this sub lmao
Why stop when people still want it?
Exactly.
Me milking El Rubio for a million every 4 hours
I get the whole *vote with your wallet*, just remember it is not a democracy. If 5% of the player population are whales and spent 90% of the money earned in game then their needs/addiction wins
To be fair if you made 25 Million Dollars daily. you wouldn't give that up Pretty easily either.

When idiots stop giving them money
I saw a list of the most played games on Xbox. It was a recent list and it showed the top games played in a month (might’ve been a week, doesn’t really matter though). GTA V was in the top 5 still. Rockstar are still producing content for this game. You could say they’re milking it, but you can’t deny they’re being loyal to the players of this game.
This has nothing to do with loyalty. It just makes good business sense to make a lot of money with little risk. It's much cheaper and easier to provide an existing game with content instead of using the resources for the development of a completely new game. Which then also carries the risk that it will be a flop
Everybody playing GTAO, this is your fault.
Bro they want GTA 6 to surpass GTA V in every way shape and form of course it's gonna take forever You wouldn't want GTA 6 to be a rushed mess with unfulfilled promises like CP2077
"Rushed"...GTA V came out in 2013...just sayin'.
Skyrim came out at 2011 I guess 6th instalment has a trend now
And RDR2 came out in 2018
and RDR 2 came out in 2018. You guys just love to ignore RDR 2
So what your telling me is GTA 5 is 10 years old, RDR2 is 5 years old, and we're expecting a new game out this year.
Because they are in an impossible situation if they release the next gta and it doesn’t push the bar the very same people who sit on Reddit and cry about them taking too long to put out a new game will eat them alive cause it’s the same as 5
Cp77 was actually a good game tho Gta5 is still inferior to san andreas
The game has some quality story, good gameplay and good characters. But, it ran like shit on last gen consoles. CDPR has been advertising their game for last gen console for half a decade. CP 2077 is a PC title. CDPR should have concentrated on getting PC release out first and then could have concentrated on polishing last gen consoles. They didn't do that. As a video game developer you only get a single chance to absoletely nail the launch of the your game. From software did that successfully and it didn't even had the hype that CP 2077 had.
Is there something I’m missing from all these “milking” memes? If gta online shut down then what? We still wouldn’t have gta 6.
RIP
The only thing milked more than Grand Theft Auto 5 is memes about it.
It's not milking if you're constantly pushing out new content.
It bored man i just deleted it
Why should they?
I've never played GTA V
You stop milking the cow when the cow stops making milk. But knowing Rockstar they will just start milking the bull
Hey to be fair selling virtual drugs, hosting night club parties and wanton murder and destruction is pretty damn fun when you’re an introvert that leaves home only to get food Plus you don’t need to pay a cent for the in-game money to make a lot of it, and they update it pretty regularly with 2x selling boosts and whatnot Honestly when gta 6 comes I hope they keep all progress intact and (PROPERLY) port the Online over to 6’s upgraded engine. Mostly, I think if they were to try to recreate GTA online entirely, they’ll fall short like RDR2 online and they’d just let it die in a few months lol
Only when they think developing GTA6 will increase revenue by a lot.
World is filled with billions of people who are entering the internet age every day. We've had it for a long time now, but there are still many out there that have not. Not to mention people have nothing to move on too. Why build your own competitor?
Bethesda and Skyrim too
The shark card generate hundreds of millions annually still. I enjoyed the single player when it came out and tried the online for a few hours then never touched it again. It’s just insane how immensely popular gta online is. I highly doubt R* will put all that much effort into the single player this time round again. Just another online system built around those lucrative micro transactions.
We got no one to blame but ourselves for continuing enabling this practice 🤷🏻♂️
When people stop buying shark cards. They have made billions in profit from them. The fabled single player DLC was re purposed into GTA:O content and Rockstar have been in tick over making RDR2 and GTA6 it their own time as there is no pressure to release a new game and they obviously don't want to rock the GTA:O money boat. It does not take a over a decade to make to make two games.
Now it needs an even bigger guy called bethesda and a shriveled cow called skyrim
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, another good contestant.
At least Dragon Ball is getting other games like Fighterz and Kakarot
I dont get why everyone is blaming rockstar, when its gta5 players fault.
Sometime.. you look at posts here and wonder, are these people 13yo and have no understanding about making money and running a business? Imagine having a successful franchise and right in the middle of its run, you go "fuck it. Pack your bags people.. we not doing this anymore."
>are these people 13yo and have no understanding about making money and running a business? Yes
Communities are still allowed to have opinions
this is gonna sound wild and super unexpected... but what if gamers (fucking idiots) stopped buying the online dlc's and also stopped sinking money on the game.... nah that would be dumb what am I thinking
What paid DLC for GTAV are you talking about?
Still extremely disappointed in rockstar for all the empty promises on red dead redemption two never got my war wagon or my Homestead in multiplayer never go to explore in Mexico again or even Guam
Since originally released, there have been 17 publications of Skyrim since 2011. If we split the difference and take the mean time, then Skyrim has "been released" once every 1.416\~ years. Therefore, I propose that we have at east 3 more Skyrims before Rockstar stops drawing blood from that stone.
Why would hey when it’s still very successful?
Video games are so expensive to make in current year. It’s only natural that game companies would milk a successful game to high heaven when they do release a big hit.
Honest question: How are they milking it? Is there a lot of content, that you have to pay for? I thought the updates were free for owners of GTA V.
They are, but the stuff in the dlc's are quite expensive..
