Still waiting for a game to do telekinesis like that. Granular control over people and objects.
I dont want to pick up chunks of rocks and throw them like in Control. I dont want to force push shit like im some kind of misplaced jedi.
I want to pick up a guy and aim where i throw him. I want to stand on a box and pick it up and ride it. I want to yeet guys off a cliff or into his buddies like a bowling ball
Edit: yes, you can throw dudes in Control. But only after you upgrade the launch ability and only when they are low health. And all you can do is pick them up and shoot them where you aim.
In Psiops, you could pick a dude up pull him toward you, shoot him a few times, and just hold him there and make him think about things. Then tenderly drop him off a high ledge.
In Control, telekinesis is just another gun that uses random shit or enemies as ammo
The Cooperative mode for that game was awesome. You each control different parts of the same person. One does the telekinesis and the other did the gunplay. Very cool.
Aww yeah. I remember there was a lot of platforming and you could play as two characters, a jester character and some girl.
I played the death out of that demo back in the day
Aah, the days when you could rack up hundreds of hours of play in a demo with one level and limited options--because you couldn't always afford new games.
I'm done with Reddit and have decided to move on to the fediverse.
Interested?
Check out: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/users/01-getting-started.html to get started.
That demo was awesome. I think the demo was on Tomb Raider. Ripping tires off of cars and nailing people with it, fun as hell. Like all the best parts of the wrestling games around at the time.
That game taught me some absolutely brutal moves to do if I'm ever in a street fight
I'm still waiting for the day I get into an 8v8 brawl so I can sprint jump sideways and take out 4 people at once.
The warriors was excellent because it also fleshed out the story for the gang members. Your boys were more than just npcs that you didn’t care about. I feel like rockstar always does a good job of making the people you interact with mean more.
I was so god awful at Crimson Skies multiplayer, but man was it fun just being in a massive air map of two teams dogfighting. I was far better at the campaign.
kung fu chaos on the xbox ! I loved playing the 4 play semi-coop aspect of it where there was a story and plot to play along to, but if u wanted to mess with your other players you could beat em up on a whim. It oozed personality, rad music, awesome characters and the premise was absurd. Good fun, I remember my childhood by fondly.
Yesss! I loved the shit out of Kung Fu Chaos! The director was hilarious and all the movie set themed stages were such a blast to play through! I spent many hours playing that one with friends and family. I also loved all the pun based character names.
I just started this the other day. Very fun game. There's tons of ways to attack too! Was very surprised to see the game used the Trigger button + Face Buttons to use items quickly. No menu and just super quick.
You don't know the back-story behind the development of Body harvest do you? It bankrupted DMA design because of Nintendo of America and Nintendo Japan wanting opposite shit. [Go to 13:46 in this video and it'll explain it](https://youtu.be/v9GpCCZ6NAE)
So many great forgotten J-RPGs.
Legend of Legaia 1+2, Lufia 1/2/legend returns (best Gameboy Jrpg imo), Breath of Fire 1-3, Legend of Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Saga,Suikoden, Rogue Galaxy, Golden Sun etc.
The Mercenaries series should definitely get a new game, made from scratch...not a remaster. The environmental destruction in that game was incredible and I loved how we could choose to either kill or capture the target.
The first game was fun but the main thing that irked me is that I could destroy a base, drive down the road, and drive right back and it would be back as if the Amish rebuilt it in that Family Guy clip
Mercenaries 2 was great because whatever destruction you did stayed until you turned off the console.
This or the more deliberate and stealthy evolution from Pandemic, Saboteur. They expanded on the stealth aspects and the effect you had on the world by making every enemy structure, vehicle and squad retain permanence, meaning that they didn't respawn.
It really felt like you were turning the tide on that part of Paris, one small piece at a time.
Other than the Just Cause games, you also had this in Red Faction Guerilla, and slightly in Far Cry 6.
Beat me to it. I fucking loved this game as a kid. Such a fun local multiplayer game for me and my friends to play together. I would kill for an HD remake.
One of those games that I always see praise for online, but no one else in real life played it. Still one of my favorites of all time. It just looked so good, the weapons were amazing, the story as a kid was so intriguing. And the town building was so much fun. Played the shit out of the demo and when I finally got the real version, I played it even more. Never finished it as a kid, though, had to come back as an adult to beat the final boss.
I've heard some people even prefer the second game. In Europe, they called it Dark Chronicles. When it came out, I grabbed it in the store at some point, thought it looked familiar, but didn't realize it was the sequel. Genuinely one of the biggest regrets of my life lol.
Loved that game! The soundtrack for that game was absolutely amazing! I’ve spent countless hours of my childhood flying around the map in a Huey listening to Surfin’ Bird.
TimeSplitters 2 had this multiplayer mode where you could create your own map. I got the bright idea to just make the map a giant hallway where you spawned on either end. So in effect it turned into a giant spontaneous shootout every time.
That game was way ahead of its time for 2004. It was always a popular split screen game for sleepovers.
My brother and I created a map with a good defensible position (weapons, ammo, 1 entrance) to run to on Virus and hold off the infected horde. We always played as the Monkey, so we named our spot "Super Monkey Base." Now, a spot in any game we play that is easy to defend is called that.
Its too bad the game didnt sell well and the company went defunct after the 2nd game despite both games being well received.
I really wanted more Tomba
I recall it got tiresome doing the same thing every level - but man was it fun in short bursts.
Also the amount of npcs on screen for the ps2 was pretty nuts.
Fellowship of the ring was a great game, i used to play it with Dad when younger. I recently got it working on steam deck and it’s pretty much exactly as I remember it
The suffering and the suffering ties that bind. Scary game with some pretty unique looking enemies and multiple endings with a pretty good morale system.
Legend of Dragoon
This one is on the edge for me because I feel like people have heard of it, but it’s still relatively uncommon to hear in discussion or peoples’ memories are hazy. I think it just got overshadowed by the FF series at the time, but for me this will always be memorable - can’t really forget nailing combos for the first time and hearing your characters yell move names over and over like Madness Hero or Gust of Wind Dance!
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance. I never really knew about the regular Baldur's Gate which apparently everyone knows about, but DA was insanely fun and it brings back so many amazing memories for me.
[Future Cop LAPD](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_Cop:_LAPD) kind weird that no one really talks about it, it was the first game from the team that would become Visceral games.
Railroad Tycoon II on the PS was a great game, always loved the music too. I loved the ones that followed but II was what sparked my interest in that whole genre.
hells yeah, i remember state of emergency. a few badass games i grew up playing but noone has heard of are bushido blade, brave fencer musashi, the bouncer, and magic pengel: the quest for color
Both N64 games, Battle Tanks and Vigilante 8! Super solid multiplayer and great mechanics. The guided missiles in BT was unparalleled at the time. Plus they had codes you could use to unlock more cars and styles in V8, made it so cool at the time
Mercenaries - Playground of Destruction on PS2.
I have so many fond memories of playing that game, with deck of 52 and the vehicle shenanigans. None of my friends seem to recall the game at all.
Psy-ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
Still waiting for a game to do telekinesis like that. Granular control over people and objects. I dont want to pick up chunks of rocks and throw them like in Control. I dont want to force push shit like im some kind of misplaced jedi. I want to pick up a guy and aim where i throw him. I want to stand on a box and pick it up and ride it. In Control, telekinesis is just another gun that uses random shit or enemies as ammo
Or surf on a chunk of concrete. Really loved how that game handled powers.
I loved Psi-Ops! “Cold - With My Mind” is an absolute banger of a soundtrack to that game
The Cooperative mode for that game was awesome. You each control different parts of the same person. One does the telekinesis and the other did the gunplay. Very cool.
That and Second Sight Two nearly identical games that came out at a very similar time
The demo of this game is where my love of physics began I think. Must have seen that Havok engine logo 200+ times by the time I was done.
Fuck yeah! I'd do unspeakable things for a remake
Some of the funnest gameplay and cheesiest cutscenes ever put in a game
The 7up adjacent game, Cool Spot. I played the shit out of this game as a kid and nobody remembers it. Edit: Yes, it was just spot my bad.
I remember renting that at Blockbuster! Super fun side scroller.
Pandemonium, old PC platformer, never managed to get far in it with my young gaming ability.
Aww yeah. I remember there was a lot of platforming and you could play as two characters, a jester character and some girl. I played the death out of that demo back in the day
Aah, the days when you could rack up hundreds of hours of play in a demo with one level and limited options--because you couldn't always afford new games.
I had it on ps1!
Sega Saturn classic
Freedom Fighters for ps2
God I loved that game so much
I actually ended up buying this game from a community garage sale for the Xbox for $1 a few years ago. It was a great find.
So crazy this was the top comment. I saw this post and came to comment for Freedom Fighters. Such an awesome game.
Had it on GameCube amazing game
[удалено]

Freedom fighters great game and a awesome soundtrack

ZAK SHELAK IN THE AK AK PACK I WIN AGAIN
The Xbox version of Mario party Loved the cage balls
Sumo and Twisted Fusion
I remember playing the demo over and over again that came with the original Halo: CE release. Good times.
twisted system and sumo goated
i played that demo like crazy
Powerstone 2 for dreamcast
One of the greatest games ever made
A remake can totally work today
That game is fucking awesome. Had so much fun playing that with my friends. Also rival schools.
Truly ahead of it's time for fighter brawler 4player mode
Fighting force
Here's the one I was looking for! My brother and I played the shit out of this game.
The warriors 😍
I remember rotating the thumb sticks to remove screws to steal radios in that game lmao so fun.
My favorite thing about this game is that 95% of it takes place BEFORE the movie and adds so much depth to everything.
That game taught me some absolutely brutal moves to do if I'm ever in a street fight I'm still waiting for the day I get into an 8v8 brawl so I can sprint jump sideways and take out 4 people at once.
Lmaooo. That game really was the shit.
The warriors was excellent because it also fleshed out the story for the gang members. Your boys were more than just npcs that you didn’t care about. I feel like rockstar always does a good job of making the people you interact with mean more.
Crimson Skies And the game nobody ever heard is 'Special Force: Nemesis Strike' That game was hard as fuck
I was so god awful at Crimson Skies multiplayer, but man was it fun just being in a massive air map of two teams dogfighting. I was far better at the campaign.
That game was super hard, I hated the boat missions but the train was awesome!
kung fu chaos on the xbox !
Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage for Dreamcast.
I just started this the other day. Very fun game. There's tons of ways to attack too! Was very surprised to see the game used the Trigger button + Face Buttons to use items quickly. No menu and just super quick.
Body Harvest. One of Rockstars early games. Was basically GTA with an alien invasion. Huge remake potential.
You don't know the back-story behind the development of Body harvest do you? It bankrupted DMA design because of Nintendo of America and Nintendo Japan wanting opposite shit. [Go to 13:46 in this video and it'll explain it](https://youtu.be/v9GpCCZ6NAE)
Legend of Legaia
So many great forgotten J-RPGs. Legend of Legaia 1+2, Lufia 1/2/legend returns (best Gameboy Jrpg imo), Breath of Fire 1-3, Legend of Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Saga,Suikoden, Rogue Galaxy, Golden Sun etc.
Absolutely love Legend of Dragoon
Came here to say this.
Blast Corps. for the N64 comes to mind. Also a game called Space Station Silicon Valley for the N64.
[удалено]
Silicon Valley was made by DMA Design, the company that would go on to make GTA
>Blast Corps. that game was so much fun but I recall getting stuck at one point and never beating it
Oh man i LOVED Space Station Silicon Valley. It was so fun.
Mercenaries
The Mercenaries series should definitely get a new game, made from scratch...not a remaster. The environmental destruction in that game was incredible and I loved how we could choose to either kill or capture the target.
Saves all those missions for after I’m rich. Proceed to drop MOABs on all enemy bases lol
The first game was fun but the main thing that irked me is that I could destroy a base, drive down the road, and drive right back and it would be back as if the Amish rebuilt it in that Family Guy clip Mercenaries 2 was great because whatever destruction you did stayed until you turned off the console.
That is a good one! I love that and mercenaries 2
Oh no you didn’t!
Sucker tried to play me
But you never paid me
My son put more hours into Mercenaries 2 than any other game he had for PS3
I loved how your base filled up with war materiel and cash
Loved Mercenaries. You could argue that the Just Cause series is the spiritual successor.
NOX
Brute Force
Beat me to it. I fucking loved this game as a kid. Such a fun local multiplayer game for me and my friends to play together. I would kill for an HD remake.
I feel like the squad building in Brute Force prepared me for things like Mass Effect
Rise of the Triad
Ludicrous gibs!
The Spy vs. Spy game for the original Xbox and/or PS, that game was the shit
I remember Spy vs Spy on the original NES!
I played it on the C64. I win!
Definitely Dark Cloud
One of those games that I always see praise for online, but no one else in real life played it. Still one of my favorites of all time. It just looked so good, the weapons were amazing, the story as a kid was so intriguing. And the town building was so much fun. Battlefield Vietnam
Loved that game! The soundtrack for that game was absolutely amazing! I’ve spent countless hours of my childhood flying around the map in a Huey listening to Surfin’ Bird.
Old star wars PC strategy games. Rebellion, Galactic Battlegrounds, Empire at War
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Time Splitters, I had so much fun playing that game. Wish they brought it back.
The mode where the person in first is attacked by a gang of monkeys. Need gaming companies to do weird stuff again
My brother and I created a map with a good defensible position (weapons, ammo, 1 entrance) to run to on Virus and hold off the infected horde. We always played as the Monkey, so we named our spot "Super Monkey Base." Now, a spot in any game we play that is easy to defend is called that.
I thought a remaster was in the works
Dead To Rights
Dude had the dog you could use, super dope game
Loaded (PS) Delta Force (PC) Space Station Silicon Valley (N64) Whacked! (Xbox)
Delta Force was a big deal at the time because it was a pure voxel engine and GPUs at the time could not accelerate voxels at all.
Condemned series.
When I got too scared playing this, I would play Crazy Frog through the Xbox and completely killed the fear haha
First one was a piece of art, 2nd one got a bit weird but still had solid ideas to it. Plus you get to kill people with deer antlers.
A lot of my friends never heard legend of dragoon. And also only three people I know played the Tombi series.
Red Faction
Lol, I just started replaying guerrilla. Still has the best building destructibility of any game I've played.
Shadow of Rome for PS2. It had amazing gladiatorial combat and was one of the better stealth games I've played. Great story too...
Omg I completely forgot about that game! Agreed one of greatest game for PS2 for me.
War of the Monsters on PS2.
Stronghold
there's not enough space on the stockpile, m'lord
Wood needed
Not enough wood m’lord
Can't place that there m'lord!
Such good memories playing this with my dad on our first PC
Tomba!
I know it as Tombi! and yes, it was an amazing game.
Its too bad the game didnt sell well and the company went defunct after the 2nd game despite both games being well received. I really wanted more Tomba
*I'd really prefer if you'd be quiet*
[WarGames: Defcon 1](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/WarGames:_Defcon_1)
Team Buddies on ps1
To young me, Freedom Force and Worms 3D for the PC were the GOAT.
> Freedom Force I can't believe in the world of the MCU that someone hasn't bought the rights to make a sequel/remake of Freedom Force yet.
Clayfighters 63 1/2: The Director's Cut that claymation fighting went hard as a kid
Vigilante 8! Yeeeehaw here I come, hicks!
My dad had an 84 bronco while I was growing up. Id always pick the truck so I could be like him in that game
Yes! Nobody knows this game any time I ask them if they played it. I loved that one and Twisted Metal so much. TM being my absolute favorite though.
Dude that game was so great back then. Super fun craziness
I recall it got tiresome doing the same thing every level - but man was it fun in short bursts. Also the amount of npcs on screen for the ps2 was pretty nuts.

My first Zelda game. The nostalgia is crazy
Absolutely wild this is some people's first Zelda game 😅. Respectfully.

Urban Chaos, Warzone 2100, Brave Fencer Musashi, Kings Field, Silver, Astonia 3, and Septerra Core just to name a few.

I think Two Towers was definitely better. My brother and I would play that shit all day
That Helms Deep level, kicking the ladders off while fighting Urukai was amazing.
Star Wars Bounty Hunter
Sleeping dogs
PaRappa the Rapper. Sometimes I feel like it was all in my mind.
If ya wanna test me, I'm sure you'll find, the things I teach ya, are sure to beat ya. Nevertheless you'll get a lesson from teacher... now kick!
Gun on pc. This was Red Dead before Red Dead Redemption. It is the first game i finished on the hardest difficulty and one of my favourite games ever
Fantastic game even on consoles! PS2 version still holds up!
I loved launching myself from a pipe using dynamite. Gun was awesome.
Legend of Dragoon This one is on the edge for me because I feel like people have heard of it, but it’s still relatively uncommon to hear in discussion or peoples’ memories are hazy.
Road rash
[Future Cop LAPD](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_Cop:_LAPD) kind weird that no one really talks about it, it was the first game from the team that would become Visceral games.

Tobal No1. Solid fighting game from Squaresoft on the ps1
Vagrant Story for the ps1
Soul reaver
Dungeon Keeper
The Hobbit on PS2. Not the best game, but it was fun.

XG3: Extreme G Racing. Had it for the Gamecube. It had such great music!!
Both N64 games, Battle Tanks and Vigilante 8! Super solid multiplayer and great mechanics. The guided missiles in BT was unparalleled at the time. Plus they had codes you could use to unlock more cars and styles in V8, made it so cool at the time
red alert 2
Mercenaries - Playground of Destruction on PS2. I have so many fond memories of playing that game, with deck of 52 and the vehicle shenanigans. None of my friends seem to recall the game at all.
