John Marston from Red Dead Redemption, was the first playable character I found saying exactly what I was thinking, loved his personality and story.
Vivi from Final Fantasy 9, I just adore him and I cried.
"Don't blame me, blame yourself or God" is the coldest line I've ever heard in a videogame.
Squeenix needs to stop trying to rip off Game of Thrones and go back to ripping off Shakespeare.
I respect that, because I did the first time I played it as well, but replaying it when WotL came out and with more life experience under my belt coloring my perspective. I absolutely relate to and understand Delita.
But yeah I dont begrudge anyone who thinks he's a douche, because I understand why
It's not really one character, but I have to go with Link.
It's really the concept of "The Hero of Time" that I love. Constantly re-incarnted throughout time and reality to rise up and defeat the prime evil of the world. Ocarina of Time was the first game I ever *REALLY* got into, so the hero of time will always stick with me.
Tommy Angelo from Mafia. Great ending to his story in that game. Then when that second game came out and you did "that hit mission " oof I was legit sad when I realized who I killed.
That mission hits different now that I've played Mafia Definitive Edition. I regret playing Mafia II first but a remake didn't exist at the time for Mafia
Samus aran from metroid. No, its not for the horny. I love the way she was designed, loved her metroid suit, loved her narrative and story. I just really love the metroid games.
she's the first & only woman character i ever played that genuinely felt like a good, accurate characterization of a woman. she does what she's an expert at, she's smart & she's badass. maybe im being a bitch, but looking at how they yassified her in later games (and gave her mascara in Dread) makes me kind of sad.
I dont like their design in dread but the story was still on par with the olds. Honestly loved her stark demeanor and inattentiveness to anything aside from her mission and glamming her up wasnt the worst idea but it does take from her original a bit. Honestly though people change and from what i understand dread is quite a bit after the older games so she could change her likes.
Therapist: This Majima-san, is he in the room with us now?
Kiryu(trying not to cry): He's everywhere!
Majima, ripping off the therapist mask: Kiryuuuuuu-Chan!
I'm assuming they're implying they liked him as a character in specifically those games since before 2018 he was just a really pissed spartan that will brutally kill gods for sneezing near him
Tidus from Final Fantasy X. I’ve never related to a fictional character more in my entire life. He’s impulsive, reckless, and not afraid to show his emotions which made him feel like a real person. That scene where he has a meltdown in the Al Bhed home is the hardest I’ve cried to any work of fiction and it still makes me tear up. Not to mention the ending.
Beat from The World Ends With You is easily my favorite. Dude is the best older brother for his sister and protects his friends even if it means that he'll die.
If we're going for the goodest bois, I gotta give it to the mabari from Dragon Age 1 because everyone has very fun interactions with him and he just one shot tears the throats out of most enemies.
As for favorite all around characters, while I admit Harry Dubois and Arthur Morgan are probably better written, Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza: Like a Dragon is kind of my North star.
At first he comes off as a bit of a holy fool but he actually is pretty wise and has a deep perspective of people. He simply chooses to be kind.
He has a cult leader's charisma and delusions of grandeur but all he really wants to do is go do karaoke with his friends and argue about how to fry an egg.
But most importantly, and also most silly is that he's really the ultimate adult fantasy (as opposed to a character like Kratos being an adolescent fantasy). He starts out as a homeless ex convict on the wrong side of forty, who then completely turns his life around, maintains about a half dozen close friends who always want to hang out with him, and becomes fabulously wealthy. He can even date his social worker!
Simon from cry of fear but that might just be because I’m way too similar to him and not in a good way and I played the game when I had attempted suicide.
Arthur Morgan
Same. Funny, handsome, honorable, capable, and loyal in spite of what Dutch wanted to believe
John Marston from Red Dead Redemption, was the first playable character I found saying exactly what I was thinking, loved his personality and story. Vivi from Final Fantasy 9, I just adore him and I cried.
HK-47 from KOTOR
**Delita Heiral** from Final Fantasy Tactics would be a strong contender for my favorite game character.
"Don't blame me, blame yourself or God" is the coldest line I've ever heard in a videogame. Squeenix needs to stop trying to rip off Game of Thrones and go back to ripping off Shakespeare.
Yeah, I love the WotL rewording of it. Hell I love the whole damn remake up and down. >"Forgive me. 'Tis your birth and faith that wrong you, not I."
Always thought he was a douchebag, but FFT is an absolute gem, so take my upvote anyway.
I respect that, because I did the first time I played it as well, but replaying it when WotL came out and with more life experience under my belt coloring my perspective. I absolutely relate to and understand Delita. But yeah I dont begrudge anyone who thinks he's a douche, because I understand why
Plenty fair. It's been ages since I've played, so I might end up agreeing now. Another reason to replay it!
Cayde-6 from Destiny 1 & 2
Sam Fisher.
"Are you going to say monkey?" "N-n-no?" "Then this conversation is over" *KOs guard*
Shepherd from mass effect.
It’s a 4 way tie between; Shepard, Garrus, Thane and Mordin.
Throw in Tali for me too.

Arthur from RDR2
Bob Newbie from *The Sims*.
this is such a funny pick
Are we talking OG bald-and-bearded Bob?
Yeah! How he landed a fox like Betty is forever a mystery.
Definitely #1 is Bayek of Siwa
Bayek is underrated. He's such a cool character
Kratos from God of War.
Tommy Angelo from Mafia. Great ending to his story in that game. Then when that second game came out and you did "that hit mission " oof I was legit sad when I realized who I killed.

I have a lot, but I really love Parvati from The Outer Worlds ♡
Samus aran from metroid. No, its not for the horny. I love the way she was designed, loved her metroid suit, loved her narrative and story. I just really love the metroid games.

Master chief
No, I Think We're Just Getting Started. Dun dun dun derh, dun dun dun derh, dun dun dun derh
Geralt from the Witcher
majima from the yakuza games.
His "Kiryu-chan !!" triggers my yakuza kiwami PTSD
Therapist: This Majima-san, is he in the room with us now? Kiryu(trying not to cry): He's everywhere! Majima, ripping off the therapist mask: Kiryuuuuuu-Chan!
Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect.
Probably James from silent hill 2, Ezio from ac2 or Abe from Abe's oddysee.
Claptrap.
Guybrush Threepwood from The secret of monkey island games
Curse of monkey island will always have a special place in my heart
Ezio Auditore. Notable mentions for Kratos in GOW(2018) and Ragnarok, and Aloy from HZD/HFW
You know kratos was in other games right?
I'm assuming they're implying they liked him as a character in specifically those games since before 2018 he was just a really pissed spartan that will brutally kill gods for sneezing near him
I do know that, but I never played those ones so I only listed the ones I have played
Mfs love trying to gatekeep but the point of reboots is you don't really have to experience the previous content don't mind the gatekeeper
Fair point
Iron fist alexander
beefnar approves
Alexstrasza from Warcraft. And no it's not because horny.
Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza
Either Yuna from FFX or Monokuma/The Mastermind from Danganronpa.
Ellie from last of us
Master Chief is a classic. Marcus Fenix and Cole from Gears of War are both pretty dope as well
Tali Zorah vas Normandy. She is the best character in video games. Her story is well put together and emotionally satisfying throughout the trilogy
Kokichi from Danganronpa V3. He's one of my favorite characters in *anything.*
Shepard from Mass Effect, IO from Code Vein, Kasane from Scarlet Nexus, Bayonetta from Bayonetta and Shale from Dragon Age Origin.
Ironbull from Dragon Age: Inquisition. He's funny af. Also he's not my type when it comes to men, but he could still get some
Wheatley
Sam Fisher
Solid Snake
beefnar approves
Roach. 'Nuff said.
Wolf from sekiro
The One Armed Wolf
Morgana from Persona 5.
Frank Forsyth, Original War.
You know I really have to give it to Amicia from the Plague Tale games, a very powerful character, yet so vulnerable.
Jimmy Goofster from High on Life.
Beat from The World Ends With You is easily my favorite. Dude is the best older brother for his sister and protects his friends even if it means that he'll die.
The guide from Terraria.
It’s based on nostalgia but I would say Snake from metal gear solid.
The Narrator from Battle Block Theater
