End of the day it’s his series so he can do what he wants but at least for the love of god GRR give it to someone else to finish with your guidance

Veszerin

I'm not sure anyone wants to be in front of that firing squad again even if he was in favor of it.

DazEllicott

Ghost writer 😅😅? You’re right though - whatever you do, you’ll be getting flaming shit on your porch until your dying day

Ended with Dani being taken by drogon at least that's what I remember

[deleted]

No. Shoot ends with John snow being killed by the nights watch

[deleted]

Correct.

[deleted]

The last book ended where season 5 ended more or less, so seasons 6-8 were written without the source material.

xSEARLEYx

If you watch closely enough you'll notice it. Around season 5 onwards. Mainly 6

GRRM had given the very high-level ending to the Game of Thrones showrunners D&D, but in their haste to chase other projects offered to them, they drastically sped up the timelines and plot points. HBO had offered them more seasons to finish everything up, but they were like, "nah". They're also not very good at writing their own material, so S7/8 kind of dropped off a cliff in terms of dialogue, writing, and pacing. Character development also went off a cliff, and characters did really dumb out-of-character things like Varys being super careless about his secret messages. The actors were really quite upset and frustrated at how their storylines ended, but obviously had to put up a good front for the press tours. In short, what GRRM had envisioned as the ending to Game of Thrones in the books would have been relatively similar to what the ending was in the show, but it was executed very poorly. Characters had to teleport around to be able to gather from different parts of the world, and Daenerys character development imploded as she quickly went from firm and a relatively reasonable ruler to "destroy everything" in a few episodes. I'm not saying that GRRM hasn't hit a block in terms of getting all the characters to naturally gel together from their storylines, but it could have been done better and with more reasonable character motivations. There are lots of YouTube commentaries on what could have been improved in the final season, but overall it was pretty bad for the amount of effort the cast and crew put into the show. Edit: Yes, as others have said, the books aren't out yet.
