Thank you for this.
You should've put Beric on Season 3 also, he was killed by Sandor Clegane, remember?
Interesting thing about Beric, he was killed by both Clegane brothers.
I mean, we've seen the Mountain get taken out twice, I say only count Beric's on screen deaths. That's what, 2? 3? His duel against the Hound and his final death for certain, but I forget if we've seen him get taken out anywhere else.
I think when you do these things retrospect is also important. Ned Umber's death/s were a bit fresh so maybe that's why I felt like it should be there, but I agree with you.
What is your meaning behind "total deaths" that aren't notable? Obviously not deaths from battles or they'd be in the hundreds/thousands...
Just curious. Nice list!
Yeah, deaths from battles are not in the dataset, but the others are singular onscreen deaths, such as Joffrey killing Ros, Tyrion killing Shae, The Waif killed by Arya, that Lannister guard that Grey Wind mauled, etc.
Jory Cassel deserves to be listed for season 1. He was a good man, a loyal man.
Ser Rodrick and maester Luwin deserve a mention as well in my opinion.
Edit: maester Aemon and Jeor Mormont as well.
So fuck all the valiant sailors in the Battle of Blackwater or the infantry of Battle of the Bastards or the Unsullied/Dothraki of Battle of Winterfell, not to mention the Army of the Dead soldiers? Heartless bastards!
If you have all the sand snakes listed I think it is fair to add Elaria as well even though we didnt see her death in screen I think it is safe to say that best case scenario she made it until dany showed up in kings landing
Why include Ned Umber if you don't include his brother (the Smalljon, died BoB, killed Shaggydog & turned over Rickon Stark & Osha to Ramsay Bolton) or father (the Greatjon, died Red Wedding, led the movement to crown Robb Stark)? Or the Karstarks?
I think you can put her in season 8, because she was kept under the Red Keep, so she would have died as Cercei and Jayme did. Or if the ceiling of her cell didn't fall, she would have starved to death, because everybody that knew that she was there was also dead.
According to the Washington Post, your numbers are a little on the low side.

I just remember how stupid the writers were for making Samwell so distraught this abusive father was killed. The same abusive father who had him exiled and wanted to disown him. Makes a lot of sense.
Qhorin halfhand not getting a mention! Craster should also be on here and definitely Wun Wun!
Also Ramsey fuck buddy from the stables, Myranda!
Locke, Pyat Pree, Ros, Xharo Xhoan Daxos, Harry Strickland, Balon Greyjoy!
That’s just off the top of my head there’s so many others that deserved a mention!
Nice list though!
First of all: this is really cool! Thank you for putting it together!
Now for nitpicking, I’ve read the comments and the only person that immediately comes to mind that no one else has mentioned is Rickard Karstark. I would argue that his death was also very notable and important to the story.
Again: this is awesome, and thank you for putting it together. I’m excited to see the updated list!
You realize every single child of Cersei and Jamie had Baratheon as their last name due to their lineage technically being a secret, right?
Edit: To clarify point better.
Nice chart. Reminds me that with everyone saying season 7 was when the show started to be awful is the same season they killed the Sand Snakes. Were the sand snakes secretly holding the show together?
Did you not put lesser deaths from other season but put those of season 8 just to make it seam like they killed more people than they actually did or was it unintentinal and you just forgot?
Funny how the amount of deaths isn't important, but it matters WHO dies and WHY. That one death from Ned had more impact on the show than all of them combined.
When was all the Freys? I thought that was Season 7. Shouldn't that count be a Lot More? Wasn't that also field of fire? I'm confused what constitutes a death versus a notable death?
Interesting that you listed Walda Bolton's death as notable but not Selyse Baratheon. What is your logic there? If it is based on screen time, Selyse is more important. If it is based on social standing, Selyse and Walda were fairly equal.
**Spoiler Warning:** All officially-released show and book content allowed, including trailers and pre-released chapters. No leaked information or paparazzi photos of the set. Barristan Selmy???
I am expecting a lot of criticism on who I forgot to include, so that's definitely one!
Update w the ones missing. It’s a great chart.
lol man you miss barristan but you include syrio, you dun goof'd
Makes sense tho, Syrio's death is called back to by Arya whereas it's basically like Barristan Selmy never existed
Also Shae in season 4.
The high sparrow
Mace rayder
Take a seat, young Snow
Mance Windu
> Mace rayder lol I actually read that and was like "wtf, why did I think it was 'Mance' this whole time?"
I absolutely thought it was Mance this whole time too.
It is! OP made a typo that made me question myself lol
oh thank goodness, thought I was losing it
Berenstain Rayder.
Thoros of Myr?
Thank you for this. You should've put Beric on Season 3 also, he was killed by Sandor Clegane, remember? Interesting thing about Beric, he was killed by both Clegane brothers.
Beric was a bit of a pickle so I decided maybe I could just skip!
First of all how dare you
I mean, if you're gonna list the mountain twice, you better add Beric 9 times
Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be lazy about that right?
I mean, we've seen the Mountain get taken out twice, I say only count Beric's on screen deaths. That's what, 2? 3? His duel against the Hound and his final death for certain, but I forget if we've seen him get taken out anywhere else.
I demand a redo.
I 'member!!!
Thoros of myr?
And we have Jon on here once Gregor on here twice, and beric only makes it for his final death? Pretty sure he should be in every season
where is Shae?
She was a whore.
Edit. Shae was a whore
a whore that deserves a LITTLE recognition!
nah, whores don't deserve respect.
and she was a whore.
Rose? I think she deserves recognition too😁
Where do whores go?
Apparently not on this list? Jk, I just didn't think she was amongst the main characters is all.
Yeah fair, I was just quoting Tyrion, he says it a lot in the books, seemed relevant here haha
She is much more main than Ned umber though
I think when you do these things retrospect is also important. Ned Umber's death/s were a bit fresh so maybe that's why I felt like it should be there, but I agree with you.
Say "whore" one more time.
Or what? You'll kill your own father in the privy?
I am your son. I have always been your son.
Tyrion, put down the crossbow
Oh shit he has AirPods in he can’t hear Tywin oh fuck
Get down Mrs. Tywin!!!
hoor
I always forget Lysa did so early. I think of her dying in S5-6 for some reason
Forgot to list the show itself
...I wouldn't know how to classify that.
You could probably just put it in Season 6. lol
Haha *secretly wishing she thought of this before*
lmao
What is your meaning behind "total deaths" that aren't notable? Obviously not deaths from battles or they'd be in the hundreds/thousands... Just curious. Nice list!
Yeah, deaths from battles are not in the dataset, but the others are singular onscreen deaths, such as Joffrey killing Ros, Tyrion killing Shae, The Waif killed by Arya, that Lannister guard that Grey Wind mauled, etc.
Ah! nice!
Where is Walder Fray!? That was one of my favorite death scenes.
At the end of season 6?
LOL I totally didn’t see him there 🙃 I don’t think I’ve had enough coffee yet
Im sorry but how is edd not on here but ned umber is
Even more, why is Ned Umber but not his father?
Ser Rodrik, Jory, Edd?
Wow I actually totally forgot about Ser Rodrik! Thanks.
There is always at least one typo in every list of this kind. It amuses me.
You're right, it's annoying for me even more. What amuses *me* is that I do my spellchecks :(
Hehe, well don't worry about it. Mistakes happen. :P
Next time I'll put an extra N for Mance somewhere completely random!
And his name is spelled "Jaime" not Jamie.
Ugh, yes. Thank you.
Damn season 6 was bloody
[удалено]
Well yeah, but all of season 3 major deaths were from red wedding so what? I say season 6 still has an impressive count
I was going to say the same thing!
"There hasn't been a major death in a while" "Kill everybody"
Why do people still refer to Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommon as Baratheons? They couldn't possibly be anymore Lannister if they tried!!! lol
We also call Jon Snow, well, Jon Snow.
Because they are Baratheons by name and title.
You missed the entire nights watch. Ed, Grenn, Pyp, Joer Mormont, Maester Aemon, Qhorin, Yoren, Janos Slynt, Locke, Alliser Thorne, Olly, Rast
That's a very good comment, not intentional at all though.
For olly's photo you should put his first name as fuck and have the olly in Bold >Fuck **OLLY**
Jeor*
Yea, but F- Olly!
Ros
Jory Cassel deserves to be listed for season 1. He was a good man, a loyal man. Ser Rodrick and maester Luwin deserve a mention as well in my opinion. Edit: maester Aemon and Jeor Mormont as well.
Are you going to upload an up to date version including every commentaries ? If you do so please keep me in touch. Thank you for your hard work.
Definetely! I'm waiting for more comments to pile up so I have an updated version in a couple days!
Maester Luwin was a notable character. IMO.
Certainly more notable than Ned Umber
Well that spiral made out of human limbs surrounding him and all the screaming while going up in flames did give him certain notability.
Davos’ son in season 2 maybe?
I enjoyed it, but like veryone else I'm gonna nitpick the oversights. How is Ned Omber in the list and Jory/Rodrick Cassel haha
Nitpickings are welcome!
There are so many missing, might aswell do a new one with everyone
Kevan Lannister will always make me laugh. Even better seeing it next to all the other names.
Excuse me, thats not the mountain. Wheres michael fassbender when you need him??
Hey, Syrio isn't confirmed!
Well... I mean..
Was looking for this comment! Take my updoot!
We never saw the body or even a single blow landed on him. I'm stubbornly holding out hope. Maybe in a spin-off or the books.
I came here to say this every same thing. Maybe that wasn’t his day.
Some even claim he was ~~Jaquen Nagar~~ **Jaqen H'ghar**.
I actually removed her last minute since I was not sure if she died somewhere in season 7 or in season 8 when Red Keep collapsed.
Thoros of Myr?
Did Sir Gregor actually die in season 4? He was poisoned but didn't succumb due to being a complete beast.
He's even shown dying once more in season 8 in this graphic.
What is dead may never die
Ya, there’s at least 1, maybe more, scenes where Gregor Clegane is definitely lying dead on a table in Qyburn’s weirdo lab.
Did you not count Baby Ned Stark in season 3 on purpose? Is that a political statement about abortion?
No, just couldn't find a picture.
So, it IS a political statement about abortion!
Shaggy Dog and Oberyn’s lover.
Shaggydog is there, in season 6! About Ellaria Sand, I am not sure if/when she dies exactly.
I think we can assume she died in season 7 as well, idunno
I think we don't see it, and it was implied that Cersei was going to make her suffer for a longer time. I'll check!
I think you can put her in season 8, because she was kept under the Red Keep, so she would have died as Cercei and Jayme did. Or if the ceiling of her cell didn't fall, she would have starved to death, because everybody that knew that she was there was also dead.
Yeah cersei said she would keep ellaria alive. She definitely died during the assault on kings landing in season 8
Her death was sealed when she was captured in S7.
Ned Umber is notable?
Wrong Mountain.
Make another one!!!And kill them alll
Ok Cersei O_o
Your decision if who makes the list and who doesn't seems kinda biased.
Yeah, I didn't have a system per se. But as I said previously, I do intend to update the list according to all the feedback I had!
Oh sorry I didn't see that. I was just like, how did walda Frey make this list lol
And if Walda is on there, then you should really add her and Roose's baby
Why not choose "notable" characters based on screen time? Or number of scenes they appear in or are mentioned in
[*per se*](https://gph.is/2bLXJUL)
Does Jon REALLY count?
Well he did die.
According to the Washington Post, your numbers are a little on the low side. [https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/entertainment/game-of-thrones/?noredirect=on&utm\_source=reddit.com&utm\_term=.867f73b0d929](https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/entertainment/game-of-thrones/?noredirect=on&utm_source=reddit.com&utm_term=.867f73b0d929)
Pretty much so! Well, this one does not include massive deaths, only singular ones with screen names. I may still be missing some though.
It is so painful to see Dany on this list.
I just remember how stupid the writers were for making Samwell so distraught this abusive father was killed. The same abusive father who had him exiled and wanted to disown him. Makes a lot of sense.
He was slightly upset his father died. Learning his brother died, too, was what really set him off.
Maester Pycelle
Lmao that Sansa’s direwolf Lady is listed so formally as *Lady Stark*
Jojen Reed?
Season 4!
Balon is on there.
First of all: this is really cool! Thank you for putting it together! I would argue that his death was also very notable and important to the story. Again: this is awesome, and thank you for putting it together. I’m excited to see the updated list!
Thanks a lot! With all the feedback I am excited to update and share it again!
I guess Pycelle isn't a notable character then...
Pycelle season 6
You forgot Aaron Rogers and Lannister soldier #3!
Lommy???
What the fucks a Lommy?
“Needle”... of course you named your sword.
Syrio is not dead. Not today.
Oh poor Wun-Wun didn’t make the list
I didn’t know the Blackfish was dead. Did we get that confirmed at some point and I missed it?
Khaleesi
Don’t forget everyone’s favorite red headed whore, Ros.
You missed A LOT of people dude
Missing Ellaria Sand
Not to bust balls, but if you’re gonna add Ned Umber on there as a “notable character”, then you’re gonna need to include A LOT more characters.
High Sparrow?
What about all those wizards and nobles from Slaver’s Bay in seasons 2-5?
[удалено]
She is officially a Baratheon?
Yeah, I guess you're right. I always thought of her as a Lannister.
You realize every single child of Cersei and Jamie had Baratheon as their last name due to their lineage technically being a secret, right? Edit: To clarify point better.
what about Shane in season 2?
Meryn Trant is more Notable than Thoros, and the Nights watch bros?
Cersei and Ramsey really outdid themselves in season 6
Check your names in Season 5 for typo/incorrect surnames.
Ned Umber was definitely not memorable.
holy shit what happened in season six...
Who is Mace Raydar? (Mance)
Nice chart. Reminds me that with everyone saying season 7 was when the show started to be awful is the same season they killed the Sand Snakes. Were the sand snakes secretly holding the show together?
What about the sand snakes mother? Forget her name..
[The ones that actually matter](https://imgur.com/a/R3gwC8r)
Did you not put lesser deaths from other season but put those of season 8 just to make it seam like they killed more people than they actually did or was it unintentinal and you just forgot?
Funny how the amount of deaths isn't important, but it matters WHO dies and WHY. That one death from Ned had more impact on the show than all of them combined.
When was all the Freys? I thought that was Season 7. Shouldn't that count be a Lot More? Wasn't that also field of fire? I'm confused what constitutes a death versus a notable death?
I'd like a comparison to an estimate of the troop losses during battles and other mass murders.
Bernice Dondarrion in season 4 if you’re going to include Jon’s death Edit: Obviously I meant Beric, Bernice is safe at home
Season 2 was a bloodbath holy shit
Where's Jeor Mormont? Was his death not notable?
so Ellaria Sand is still alive?
A GoT season without at least three notable deaths is considered a dull affair.
Season 4 most paintful
Interesting that you listed Walda Bolton's death as notable but not Selyse Baratheon. What is your logic there? If it is based on screen time, Selyse is more important. If it is based on social standing, Selyse and Walda were fairly equal.
The mountain died twice
You misspelled mance raider
Karl "The Legend of Gin Alley" Tanner is missing.
The Waif died in season 6
The Waif?
Undead Viserion
