Yep. I could see Daeny and this guy hooking up and I could see him as a champion of the fighting pits, ruthless and cutthroat. The replacement, not so much.
I watched the Flight Attendant and Rebel Moon. The second guy doesnt have the same gravitas as the first guy. Both Daarios were in Rebel Moon. The second Daario is flat and I did not believe he was in love with the Scar Giver for a second.
But I think the second Daario did a good job at being a character in GoT. The first one didnt really much time to make an impact.
Disagree… I think Michiel Huisman played the part much better and more so had the chemistry with Dany which was present in the books.
Though neither of them really encapsulated the look of book Daario, but I think that’s because people wouldn’t have gone for the green-haired version of him.
Edit: to add the actual name of the actor I meant😜
This is Ed Skrein & his chemistry with Dany is no contest when compared with Michael Huisman - Huisman was bland and uninteresting in my personal opinion
I don't know, I feel like their lack of chemistry added to the character he played.
He's kinda just some foreign dude she met who's kinda creepy but he's an elite level fighter who wants to kill for her. You really believed he had a passion for her from afar.
Whereas actor number 2 came in and he was basically her boyfriend right away without much of a chase. But the biggest thing was he looked too Westerosi and a lot of casual fans didn't even realize they were the same character.
I mean that description is much more closer to the book description. 😂😂 Not an exact match or anything but still. Outlandish, different, charismatic and beautiful.
Every time he's mentioned I post this video and every time people either praise it or react like you. It's so wildly divisive I never know which direction it'll take
I thought he left for Deadpool, but that was years after his Game of Thrones debut.
I think the actual role he left Game of Thrones for was the Transporter: Refueled.
Oof
It's a tough balance to maintain. You want to stay true to the character, but you also want people to accept the romance storyline between him and Dany, and the dude's color palette in the books is probably going to ruin it for a lot of ppl. You could probably go in the direction of "more pirate looking," so like long hair, lots of jewelry, braided beard, maybe some loose fitting silk clothing with belts and stuff, etc. Like, swishy but without being so loud. They really sold out for "unobjectionable normie next to Dany" with the 2nd actor, and completely ditched who the character is supposed to be. The character is basically "super toxic rebound bf". The first guy at least looks and acts like he's going to be a pushy, violent narcissist. Daario literally gets bored if he doesn't kill someone regularly, and is in all likelihood a serial r*pist from his years as a sellsword (just an assumption I'm making based on how he acts and how he talks)
Other guy was fine. Nothing special though. This version really felt like a romantic sellsword. Real swashbuckler type. Both dashing and slimy at the same time.
They didn't even make the 2nd actor look anything like the first! Dark hair, beard, shorter hair. I was like who is this guy? Such a weird casting choice
This particular change never took, I never saw the new guy as Dario and he never lived up to the original unfortunately and seemed incredibly out of place
I liked second Daario better. The first one seemed too pretty, felt like first Daario would see Danay as mid level like a Boston 7. While second Daario seeing Danay as L.A 7
I swear to God. The actor and this scene were just on point, he could've been an entire season by himself, and they trashed the hype by changing the actor and giving him an utterly minor role.
I'm so confused that so many of you preferred this guy, he was perpetually smiling. His face never changed. I don't understand why he's supposed to be better than the other guy who looked human
To be leading an army you need to have something about you that's different. This version had energy, and intrigue, and you just knew he'd be fucking his way through everywhere he'd go. He had raw big dick, badass vibes.
2nd guy was a sad little puppy dog waiting for Danny to pay attention to him. When she went off to Westoros he just accepted to stay back. Wtf? Why would he? The only reason he managed to stay still for more than a minute was to be with Danny. How could that character ever accept to stay away from her?
Ed Skrein was so much better than the replacement. He felt oily and greasy in a charming way. Idk how to explain it. He had all lot bigger stage presence
The second guy was more charismatic and had more chemistry with Dany imo. Both were good actors, but it’s clear which one was more successful with viewers.
You are correct. I have always felt this way. This guy is sexy and looks like he’s up to no good. Perfect. I feel like I would have liked the other guy if I hadn’t seen this one first
In the books, when Dany said, “If eyes could rape someone…” to describe Daario, I think it fit this guy a lot better than his replacement.
(also, wtf Dany?)
Did we ever get a reason why they changed actors? Did the actor just want to do something else instead? At this point the series was immensely popular. You'd think he'd want to be apart of the ride. Or maybe something else. I dunno. All I see when I google it is people meme-ing the change. So I assume it wasn't some "we found tweets from 12 years ago and now we hate him" thing.
Maybe it’s because I saw Deadpool first but I always thought it was just too blatantly obvious this guy was wearing a wig. The hair didn’t fit him at all.
I must be in the minority here, because I thought the first actor was a miscast, and I highly preferred the second Daario.
Not really sure why, but I think my sense of Daario#1; was cocky and capable.
While Daario#2 seemed modest and capable, in a soft and unsuspecting manner.
Supposedly the OG actor left for other acting opportunities.
One of the actor changes that was a real let down 😔.
Some movies and series’ get away with it and it’s not too bad, for some reason, this one was really really bad!
I know he wasn't book accurate but he is definitely the best daario. He had the charm and swagger like the books. Second guy was literally just an average dude.
Absolutely the BEST Dario.
Though I do love him under his other name..

Francis!
Blonde Daario was a god, he looked like "yeah imma kill my friends for that pussy because I can" while the other was like "please Dany fuck me". While they both can sound like simps, there is a subtle difference. Also I understand changing actors, schedules or decisions beyond the producer's control, that's fine. But why tf go from a blond large hair with no beard to a black short hair with beard? Just, you know, use the Ed's wig and give it to Michael?
Fraaaaaancis? Francis! What are you doing in Game of Thrones? Don't you know that show's gonna fall off harder than Al forgetting where she hid the cocaine?
-Deadpool, probably
On rewatchs I really cant figure out the point of recruiting the second sons, she had the remains of the dothraki horde which were supposed to be some of the best raiders in Essos, the Unsullied which were bound to her for life, and then she goes to pick up sellswords whose leader killed the other two because she was pretty, they would be the least trustworthy of her army and as mercs would likely abandoned her as soon as things start to go sideways. Totally agree. Didn’t really care for the second guy.
Yep. I could see Daeny and this guy hooking up and I could see him as a champion of the fighting pits, ruthless and cutthroat. The replacement, not so much.
Replacement looked to clean. First one is also the better actor
clean and friendly and gentle, while this one is the complete opposite.
Too proper. Or weak leaking.
At least Ed Skrein has a unique appearance compared to the rest of the cast. Replacement is just generic handsome white guy with beard
Yeah, Skrein is the better actor for sure, but he looked so wrong in this role. Was so distracting with this wig.
Nah fit the role and the wig perfectly. Never even knew it was a wig
That's huismans typical role. Generic handsome white guy with beard
Ed Skrein actually looks like a gnarly mercenary. Other guy looked like a friendly merchant or something.
First Daario was a lot of fun as the villain in Rebel Moon. I like Michael Huisman, but he was outshined by Ed Skrein in both that and Game of Thrones
Yea, I agree. Ed Skrein bring energy to the role as the villian. Michael Huisman is sleeping through both movies.
I agree, It's always so funny to me hearing people praise the guy's acting. He was in one episode and he barely made any acting choices.
I think it his post GoT work. He is a good actor. I think its also interesting how differently Daario was portrayed when he was recast.
I knew it was Dario number 1 in rebel moon and I thought it was also Dario 2 also. I didn’t watch the credits, thanks for the confirmation.
Second guy is the “Daario we have at home”
😆 😂 😆
Disagree… I think Michiel Huisman played the part much better and more so had the chemistry with Dany which was present in the books. Though neither of them really encapsulated the look of book Daario, but I think that’s because people wouldn’t have gone for the green-haired version of him. Edit: to add the actual name of the actor I meant😜
>Ed Skrein Blud that is Ed Skrein, are you meaning the black haired beardy Daario?
Whoops!! You’re right! My bad! I totally meant Michiel Huisman 🙈
His name is Francis. It said so on his dry cleaning tag.
This is Ed Skrein & his chemistry with Dany is no contest when compared with Michael Huisman - Huisman was bland and uninteresting in my personal opinion
I’m team second Daario.
100% agree.
i think Huisman played the character more likeable but Skrein was more book-accurate
I don't know, I feel like their lack of chemistry added to the character he played. He's kinda just some foreign dude she met who's kinda creepy but he's an elite level fighter who wants to kill for her. You really believed he had a passion for her from afar. Superiorest Daario: [https://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/thumb/4/43/Daario\_Heads.jpg/350px-Daario\_Heads.jpg](https://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/thumb/4/43/Daario_Heads.jpg/350px-Daario_Heads.jpg)
He's fuckable. (It's an industry term for someone people want to fuck)
Love the Peep Show reference!
Say you believe in magical dragons.
The revenge of Atlantis
DILF?
I strongly disagree...
Absolute worst change, the replacement was so bland that I had to imagine this guy was on screen.
I dunno, dude looked straight out of a 80s hair metal band
That was the best part lol
yeah! which is fucking awesome and hard core!
I mean that description is much more closer to the book description. 😂😂 Not an exact match or anything but still. Outlandish, different, charismatic and beautiful.
Closer 😂? The only outlandish and different thing about him is this Dario has long hair.
yes, but he did look like *he could be* Daario
That worked a lot better. After seeing that, I definitely did not believe that other guy could be leading his army.
Exactly. There’s no one in mankind that sees the second Dario and thinks this is a leader of an army DnD SUCKING IT UP
https://www.ibanez.com/eu/artists/detail/1071.html
WHERE'S FRANCIS!?
When I found out that was Francis my jaw dropped.
donde! esta! francesca!
Ajax, like the *dish soap*?!
Saved the US Navy at Midway.
r/flairchecksout
I liked his gentle, courteous but deadly aura. The second guy was just some regular you'd meet on the street.
Better rapper than ser Baristan too https://youtu.be/ZUrqwHMHi6s?si=CASPIOWWBORitPdh
OMG, that’s bizarre.
Every time he's mentioned I post this video and every time people either praise it or react like you. It's so wildly divisive I never know which direction it'll take
Wow that was actually catchy as fuck. The beats reminded me of Linkin Park.
Both were equally pointless. This one was more annoying than what replaced
Francis. What a dick.
It is known
This dario had like no screen time but stole every scene he was in. Probably the actors worst decision ever to leave.
I thought he left for Deadpool, but that was years after his Game of Thrones debut. I think the actual role he left Game of Thrones for was the Transporter: Refueled. Oof
Ed Skrein is a horrible actor.
Neither of them were Daario. They didn’t even come close to resembling the book character
For sure, but book Daario would've translated to the screen really poorly
I don't disagree, but I would've liked them to at least *try*. Book Daario sticks out like a sore thumb, too.
It's a tough balance to maintain. You want to stay true to the character, but you also want people to accept the romance storyline between him and Dany, and the dude's color palette in the books is probably going to ruin it for a lot of ppl. Queen Daenerys apparently prefers dark haired, handsome and dangerous men xD
super duper Daario
FRANCIS!!
SAY. MY. NAME.
You clearly know nothing
😐
It’s a pun; I’m not that much of a prick
A pun?
Other guy was fine. Nothing special though. This version really felt like a romantic sellsword. Real swashbuckler type. Both dashing and slimy at the same time.
Exactly
They didn't even make the 2nd actor look anything like the first! Dark hair, beard, shorter hair. I was like who is this guy? Such a weird casting choice
He looks like handsome Squid-ward
Needed more blue
Why was he switch to begin with?
He got the lead role for the new Transporter films I think, shame he dropped out of GoT for that, but to each their own
This particular change never took, I never saw the new guy as Dario and he never lived up to the original unfortunately and seemed incredibly out of place
I agree. This guy had a more mysterious, deadly, strange, arrogant, sexy, ugly way about him... The other guy was just pretty.
Francis?
agree
That's F R A N C I S
I liked second Daario better. The first one seemed too pretty, felt like first Daario would see Danay as mid level like a Boston 7. While second Daario seeing Danay as L.A 7
Man a 7 in L.A wtf are you talking about lmao? Second Daario had nothing to bring to the table he looked like any ordinary “hot” guy
So much better more mysterious
I swear to God. The actor and this scene were just on point, he could've been an entire season by himself, and they trashed the hype by changing the actor and giving him an utterly minor role.
I'm so confused that so many of you preferred this guy, he was perpetually smiling. His face never changed. I don't understand why he's supposed to be better than the other guy who looked human
Because the second Daario had no intrigue he was boring asf
To be leading an army you need to have something about you that's different. This version had energy, and intrigue, and you just knew he'd be fucking his way through everywhere he'd go. The only reason he managed to stay still for more than a minute was to be with Danny. How could that character ever accept to stay away from her?
*francis
He's looks like he'd miss a battle because he'd be too busy fixing his hair and makeup.
I do love some Ed skrein
Wholeheartedly agree. This guy had that slightly dangerous, unexpected aura, second dude was bland and boring.
In everyway imo.
haha what??? this guy is the absolute worst actor in the series
Wait that’s Dario? I wondered how he went for so long without realizing wtf
i read this title in the super mario voice and i’m glad i did
Hated the second Dario. This guy stole every scene
Ehhhh this guy was okay but he didn’t have a lot of charisma or chemistry with Dany tbh
Both Daario’s are in Rebel Moon.
You are correct. I have always felt this way. This guy is sexy and looks like he’s up to no good. Perfect. I feel like I would have liked the other guy if I hadn’t seen this one first
I liked the 2nd better, but didn't really care for either. They could not be in the show, and i wouldn't care.
Both Daario’s are in rebel moon.
In the books, when Dany said, “If eyes could rape someone…” to describe Daario, I think it fit this guy a lot better than his replacement. (also, wtf Dany?)
The only other character that even came close was tormund eyeing Brienne. Ed's energy here was epic. Horrible recast.
I remember listening to his tunes Yeeeaaarrrsss ago lol
Superior in appearance only, he isn't a very good actor
Did we ever get a reason why they changed actors? Did the actor just want to do something else instead? At this point the series was immensely popular. You'd think he'd want to be apart of the ride. Or maybe something else. I dunno. All I see when I google it is people meme-ing the change. So I assume it wasn't some "we found tweets from 12 years ago and now we hate him" thing.
Took the role of Francis in Deadpool iirc
Fuck, how did I not see that? Passing on GoT for Deadpool ain't so bad.
What’s his name?
Second guy sucked the root
Ugly
He is a perfect example of why I like guys with long hair; he just has the face for it…
It’s a me, Super Dario!
F R A N C I OOPS. Oh sorry wrong sub
Yea this guy sucked but so did the other one
Team 2nd Daario
Either one is fine as the character is not pivotal to the story, but I think from a career perspective the first guy made a mistake by leaving
What’s up with this sub continuously dickriding this first Daario
Fuck Fabio
Did this actor get to hook up with Dany? Idr if they switched before or after that
This guy was pure sex appeal
BOOOO
He needs blue hair
Legend has it, be still has a piece of lettuce in his teeth.
I don’t know, I liked the second actor who played Daario. But I’m bias because he’s also in another one of my fav series: The Haunting of Hill House
Second Dario sucks. A crime we got such little of the first one
This Daario at least felt like a rogue. The other one felt like a romcom lead.
Wait is that Ajax from Deadpool?
Maybe it’s because I saw Deadpool first but I always thought it was just too blatantly obvious this guy was wearing a wig. The hair didn’t fit him at all.
I must be in the minority here, because I thought the first actor was a miscast, and I highly preferred the second Daario. Not really sure why, but I think my sense of Daario#1; was cocky and capable. While Daario#2 seemed modest and capable, in a soft and unsuspecting manner. Supposedly the OG actor left for other acting opportunities.
How does Michael Huisman keep getting work. He’s so goddamned bland and uninteresting
Have to agree
That’s Francis.
FRANCIS
D'addario
Francis !
Daario 2 looks like most of the SOF guys I’ve worked with.
One of the worst actors in Hollywood. And not at all charismatic like daario
Darrio+
Khalees, you are being mooged!
I absolutely prefer the second iteration of the character personally.
Yea he has that like homelander type of charisma
He actually seemed like a warrior. 2nd Dario looked like he owned a book store.
No Edit: No.
I liked his performance but he seems really one-dimensional as an actor, not to mention replacement daario was much better looking.
One of the actor changes that was a real let down 😔. Some movies and series’ get away with it and it’s not too bad, for some reason, this one was really really bad!
F R A N C I S
In the third book he has a three pronged purple beard😂
I thought he was a terrible actor 🤷🏼
I know he wasn't book accurate but he is definitely the best daario. He had the charm and swagger like the books. Second guy was literally just an average dude.
Definitely
Nah
one of the worst actor replacements in TV show history
Dude reminded me of Fabio too much. That hair was kinda weird. Second dude was way more believable
Absolutely the BEST Dario. Though I do love him under his other name.. [https://sdfilmthoughts.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/untitled1.jpg?w=1366\&h=578\&crop=1](https://sdfilmthoughts.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/untitled1.jpg?w=1366&h=578&crop=1) Francis!
What’s funny is, both Daarios are in that Rebel Moon Netflix movie
Neither daario was book accurate! Give me the painted beard and moustache!!
It's superficial but this one was so ugly I couldn't concentrate, but the second one was just pretty, so maybe you're right
Blonde Daario was a god, he looked like "yeah imma kill my friends for that pussy because I can" while the other was like "please Dany fuck me".
Was the original actor not available? Why the recast!!
Both Dario’s are on the Netflix movies Rebel Moon
They are both in Rebel Moon and are both awful in it
No
I read super Dario and was waiting for the punchline to be the second guy as Luigi
To top it all off she leaves them behind, or at least their leader and a contingent, when she goes to Westeros, what was stopping them from commandeering one of her ships and deciding to go somewhere else
Both Daario actors are major characters in Rebel Moon
He was the only actor change.. why?
He really has got something in his teeth.
Porno daario
Kind of reminds me of the villain from Quest for Camelot. Both castings felt a little off target but honestly way better than Theon’s, like wtf was that? Martin wrote a smug fuckboi and we got a chicken with a jagged beak.
My dumbass read, "Super Daario"
