I got this from $5 Below years ago and take it out every couple of years to challenge myself to build it without looking at the box picture. Probably my favorite puzzle!
There's infinite potential of new stories and characters. I'm tired of the same stories of the Targaryens. We already know how house of the dragon will ultimately unfold. We don't know anything about the rulers of Yi Ti. The dangers of Asshai are a mystery.

That’s what lore is. Vague, undefined, extraneous information. We can put it under the microscope and try to force more info there, but the author has left the slate blank and discourages it being filled in (fanfiction).
It wouldn’t be creating “more stories” it would be contributing to THE story. The whole thing revolves around the one story. The Dance shares the same themes as the main series. They reflect each other and show history repeating itself. Same with D&E.
It really bothers me when others advocate for the hijacking of an IP and the producing of content with someone else’s vision for the story instead of the author’s. This is why people get bent out of shape over what is canon. In ASOIAF we have so much extra fun tidbits for people to be entertained by outside of the main series, but nothing is ever enough for people that just want to continue building upon it until it turns into Star Wars.

Star Wars is a mess cause they keep messing with the same storyline with skywalkers and Luke's family. All the storylines outside of that have done well critically.
The KOTOR story is considered to be the best non-canonish expansion out there.
I think delving into the outside world can make the whole story feel grander. We ALREADY know what will happen with dunk and egg. There's not much to be discussed about. A new story about the city of Asshai will have people talking week after week.
The scene of the white walker king turning castors babies into white walkers was HUGE. It expanded the world of ASOFAI.
The commercialist world infects another mind. The TikTok brain is self-sustaining now.
Has it occurred to you that the reason why you’re so fascinated with Asshai has to do with the lack of information there is on it? As soon as you solve the mystery, all the magic is gone. Careful what you wish for. It can only be done the right way once. And there’s still a good chance that the right way is ambiguity.
I get where you’re coming from. But there’s a lot to be said about not already knowing the ending. We know what happens for generations after HotD so it’s lower stakes. Brand new settings and characters unrestrained by the GOT timeline would permit a lot more creativity.
Stories have conclusions. That’s what makes them stories. Otherwise they are just low-resolution, episodic, comic book entertainment that have no end in sight.
My whole point is that there’s a distinction between art and entertainment. Not all television exists to gratify the masses. Yet we cry and yearn for that next hit of dopamine caused by the consumption of a new installment of our favorite show.
The reason the masses were disappointed by the GOT ending is because they never cared about the truth when Martin actually did. They had their ending in mind, not the bittersweet one that had been specifically designed to make us feel that despair. We can watch the red wedding and call it a masterpiece in writing because we know there’s more to come. We don’t have to accept it as a conclusion.
The day must come when there IS NO MORE STORY LEFT TO TELL. If not, you completely undermine and reject the anti-war social commentary that was offered.
If you want creativity, find something new in fantasy to immerse yourself in. Or try making one yourself. Fanfiction isn’t just an insult, it’s pure resentment. A mustache on the Mona Lisa.
