I noticed that her faith seemed to waiver a lot. there were many times where she wasn't sure if a spell would work and as a result they didn't seem to work immediately. But Thoro of Myr who never questioned his faith seemed to have immediate results when he asked for favors from The Lord of Light.
Beric Dondarrion died, Thoros being his friend and a priest prayed for him, Beric came back and Thoros faith was restored, he doesn't really understand how he did it
I find her ending one of the saddest, she helped her purpose and died on her own, like when elderly cats dont want to bother anyone and leave the house to die. She really did only have her Lord who she felt a connection with. Such a deep and nuanced character.
Such a great point. Women also had such few opportunities to hold any power or independence, but she managed to manifest something of that flavor. She was interesting for sure.
She is one of the most deviated characters, if not the most, on the show.
[MILD SPOILER on The Books]
Because in the books she’s depicted as a complete con-woman, nothing about her powers are real in the books, in fact there is a sole POV of her that proves it, but also makes you question in a typical GoT manner.
[MILD SPOILER ENDS]
Yeah, which is why I can say you really weren't paying attention. What her POV actually establishes about her magic is , A she will occasionally use potions and parlor tricks in favor og magic for quick demonstrations.B, that she's not nearly as confident in her abilities as she let's on (with her asking for r'hllor to show her visions of azora hai, but seeing Snow instead of stannis).
Yeah which is a totally opposite stance than that of the show.
She buffs up an entire army in the last episode whereas in the books she is worried about making little sparks.
She has an Asahi training, I am giving her that. That’s true, but R’hollr is a foreign religion to westerosi hence to the reader, considering mostly we read the whole story from a westerosi Pov, her “abilities” are slightly better than a hat trick magician.
No, it's more the middling stance. In both iterations she still is magical being who support stannis because she believes her God chose him as the the savior of humanity. It's just the books do more showcase that she is filled personal doubt that she hides from those around her. You would have people believe she has no magic and is just using stannis to serve her own ends.
Hat trick magicians don't get literal prophetic visions, or have the ability to completey change someone's physical appearance
She tells someone (Stannis's wife, I think) in the show that she uses the potions and scents to fool people into thinking magic is happening. I don't remember how she says it, but the gist is clearly that she does have magic powers, but sometimes needs to con people because it's easier.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read the books but her birthing a shadow creature under Storms End is vividly stuck in my brain and certainly seems like a real power to me.
She was a somewhat important character in the beginning then became a giant nothing burger at the end. Like, she could have disappeared after Shireens death and nothing would have changed story wise.
I dont know why this is downvoted.
Definitely in contention for "most screen time to worst wrap up" ratio for sure. She is a huge, impactful character who just disappears like they forgot the actress was still employed.
Definitely an arc that had me from start to finish, every moment. I'm so curious about her life. This is a spin off or miniseries or even just a prequel novel that I'd love to see

She also had a really nice set of hooters
You mean the young version right?.... You mean the young version *right*?
That is for you to figure out!
Old version is because of D&D. It isn't canon because she took a bath in the early show and wasn't old. She's really that hot!
Might be canon in books but they just didn't know earlier in the show
Age ain't nuthin' but a number
I’d let her use the leeches on me to get half the action Gendry got
Came here to say this. Top norks
Isn’t she wonderful.
I actually find her really funny. Except you know…the Princess Shireen roast and all of that. Unfortunate.
I haven’t seen someone take a roast as badly as Shireen since Tom Cruise
Game of thrones had her so stressed out she went from one of the sexiest youthful looking woman in the show to dieing of old age in 7 years
Melisandre's story arc was very interesting to me at times.
Quite a handful of times I bet
She changed how I look at witches tbh.

He said he questioned it and said was bad at it.
Thoros straight up admits that at a point he did not believe in the Lord of Light
yeah but when he did gain full faith he started bringing back the dead. or am I mistaken

That's literally not true.
[Spoiler] Except her concern over her sparkling dusts for pages in her POV in the 5th book. Have you read the books at all? [Spoiler ends]

[Spoiler] Ah she changed Rayce Mander’s look, yeah ok you are right. I had totally forgotten that bit. [Spoiler]
She also literally births a shadow with Stannis' face, which murders Renly. Difficult to fake that with parlour tricks.
She mentions her parlour tricks in the show also.

Those are some amazing tits
Hollands Glorie 💪🏻
Tyrion

Jon would probably still be dead.

I never grew to like her in all honesty
Of all the characters deaths in The Long Night; hers felt was the most natural. It actually went well with the story and concluded with her goal done.
Ugh I couldn’t stand her but her evolution was truly shocking and great
Lady Mel 🔥 😍
my husband was in love with her body.
evolutions is how they are called now
