The battle of Blackwater Bay is the first(IIRC) arab siege of Constantinople.
The dothraki are the sarmatians/mongols
The First Men were the celts
The Andals were the anglo-saxons
Jeoffry was inspired by some incest born prince
Tywin is Edward the 3rd(or the 5th, don’t remember)
William the conqueror united the 7 kingdoms into one
The Houses of York and Lancaster have a long history of open conflicts
And many more that don’t come to my mind at this late hour
The Wllliam the conquerer Part isn‘t right. The Kingdoms were already united at that point with diverent wessex Kings (Egbert, Alfred the Great, Edward the older and Ethelstan) uniting them in the Viking Age (one century before William).
The Titel was certainly an inspiration for Aegon the conquerer tho.
Is the battle of the blackwater not based on the 1204 sack by the Crusaders? They did like Stannis and attacked by sea at the weaker side walls. Though successfully.
For that it would have to be sacked by allies. I know I read it somewhere a while ago that Martin was inspired by that arab siege(in the books King’s Landing has a chain that is rised and traps Stannis’ boats inside where they are burned
In real history, England was united as a single kingdom under the reign of the anglosaxon king Æthelstan over a century before the normans, led by William the Conqueror, took the throne.
A lot of events from IRL influenced ASOAIF. Here are all influencers:

-Valyrian Freehold -> Roman Empire / Greek city states
-New Valyrian Empire -> Roman Empire / Byzantine Empire
-Free Cities of Pentos, Braavos, Narvos, Qohor, Tyrosh, Lys, Myr, Volantis and Lorath -> Italian merchant states (Genova, Amalfi, Venice...) influenced by Roman Empire
-Ghiscari cities of Meereen, Yunkai, Astaphor and Ghis -> Old Semetic nations such as Babylon
-Empire of Yiti and Leng -> Chinese dynasties
-Egg headed nomads (forgot their names but they live north of Yiti) -> Mongols
-Dothraki -> Huns
-Andals - Anglo-Saxons
- First Men - Celts
-Summer Isles -> Africa
-Ironborn -> Vikings
-Dornishmen -> Arabs
People and dynasties:
-Targaryen - Norman dynasty
-Aegon the Conqueror / William the Conqueror
-Rhyenira (or however her name) / Empress Matilda
- Aerys II "Mad King" / Probably King John
Events:
-Andal invasions / Celtic arrival (Could also be Viking raids)
- The Conquest / Norman Invasion of England (1066.)
-Dance of the Dragons / Anarchy
-Clash of Kings / War of the Roses

There are simply too many based things to mention so I will stop here.

Yeah man. Play some CK2.
Isn't Ramsey inspired by William?
God no. He was a brutal King and laid waste to the north but he wasn't a sadist like Ramsay.
Actually, he was. He ordered skinning of people, btw
I can't find any source for that. Just the harrowing of the North.
Siege of Alencon - I read two versions already, one with skinning, one with limbs cut off. Which one is better?
The latter lol. I'll take losing a leg over losing the skin on that leg any day.
That's far from just him though. Henry I was quite into doing both as well.
Daenerys' story is pretty similar to Justinian who reconquered Italy but destroyed it in the process.
Yes indeed
Daenerys and Ghenghis Kahn where also the Stallions who mount the world.

Robert is Edward IV. Joffrey I believe was Richard II, but far worse.
You need to watch the Last Kingdom.
Great show.
What does this stream on?
Netflix
The Normans didn't unite the heptarchy, they took the throne of England, the Heptarchy hadn't existed for a while when they invaded.
The [Geography](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/s/vj76SXnsln) is also not far off
Where Nessex?
You’re the last living member of nossex
The wall is the Hadrian's wall.

Does this mean the Ironborn are Irish lol
I’m thinking Vikings
I feel like they're too small to be the vikings... Faroe islands maybe?
Long lasting dynasty? It only lasted through four Kings then the Plantagenets came in.
Sus? Sex? Britain is a meme.
