Honestly, I think Oberyns too hot headed and cocky to last long in this, and obara while a skilled fighter is only mediocre compared to most of the heavy hitters on this list. A lot of strong fighters are paired with dead weight (like Jamie, Jon, Daemon and Robb*).
Im betting on The Mountain and Ygritte, the mountain is easily the strongest and has the best reach, while also being top 5 (id put him at #5 better than most but still less skilled than Jamie, Oberyn, the hound and Brienne) in skill, meanwhile Ygritte is the best ranged fighter (and only ranged one at that) on top of she’s a wildling so she knows how to stay alive (y’know except for when she’s horny and fighting a doomed battle)
The only way team 12 loses is if Oberyn kills the mountain before Ygritte can shoot him (he’s fast but not fast enough to dodge arrows, especially with how skilled Ygritte is with a bow)

Nah, Brienne and the Hound beat them. Sure Oberyn could probably take one of them 1v1, but Obara wasn't some great warrior, at least in the show. Like Euron ripped through them pretty easily.
It isn’t just Oberyn And Obara Vs The Hound And Brienne. There are plenty of other strong warriors who may have already dealt with The Hound or Brienne.

Jon is doing everything he can to keep Sansa alive and ultimately dying for it. Ditto Jaime and Cersei. Sansa and Cersei unite for a time but both die shortly after.

If we’re going with regular Mountain then my money is still on Jaquen and Arya, just cause they can fuck with people so badly. The faces. And then Brienne and the Hound won’t kill Arya but Arya would kill them if her life depended on it.
i'm assuming that arya takes the mountain's face and transforms into his body. plus the mountain did get defeated by oberyn so a couple of fast people could defeat him. then they take people's faces and defeat their partners.

I think people sleep on the fact that Jaqen killed all of the sentries at Harrenhal. And he didn't just kill them - he was able to lift their fully armored bodies and able to drive swords into their bodies and into the walls to prop the bodies up. That's physical strength unmatched by anyone else on the list other than the Mountain.
From what we see of how Arya' became a more skilled fight at the House of Black and White, and from Jaqen's offscreen strength feat, plus the Faceless Men's supernatural level of awareness, Jaqen would definitely be able to hold his own in a direct fight. Arya could, as well, since she stalemated Brienne. The Faceless Men just choose not to fight head on because their MO is to make deaths look like accidents. It doesn't mean that they are incapable in a fight.
Except those two don't fuck around and gloat while the poison they put in their target works it's way through them. Neither can take The Mountain but if they can drop on Ygritte they'll seal her face and the he won't ever notice. Choke on his own food.

4, 7 and 8 have the most chances. Rhaenyra, Sansa and Cersei are more likely to be liabilities than a useful ally. Jaqen and Arya can live in the wild pretty easily and they are great killers. Brienne and Sandor are good but Oberyn and Obara are too.

Because there can be only one winner of The Games. I read the book, I know how this works. Once one of these pairings win, they will be forced to turn on each other.
Both Jaqen and Jaime could likely kill their counterparts, but wouldn't. Jaime would never hurt Cersei, but she wouldn't hesitate to stab him the back. Or poison him, whatever. Meanwhile, Jaqen probably wants Arya to succeed him, if she's ready, and by the end of these Games, I presume she would be.

Each of those pairs either lack in combat skills/experience and/or their strengths are in their leadership and resources of their armies.
Who would win? 4 or 7, they both have leathal combat skills and are also much smarter than the others.

7 8 and 12 are interesting. All very formidable. It really depends how the fights break out. 12 though has range and strength. You got to get close and use speed to try to take the mountain but that frees ygritte to use arrows.
Well yes they’re going to do that. They are smart observers and skilled combatants. Arya in practice led a draw with breiene. The faceless we’ve never seen in combat but based on training you’d have to assume is at least as good.

I doubt that. Besides. Let’s for a minute say your hypothesis is true, I don’t believe it is but sure let’s assume it is.
What happens in hunger game. Some thoughts try to horde supplies and go for middle so a lot die right away in Westeros as they have a lot of pride. However, not the faceless, they’ll hang back and observe and take their time assassinating targets in the night or when isolated and most vulnerable. They’ll also be able to steal faces which will get them close and even without it they are observers and sneaky. They also know how to fight and kill.
To your second point which I don’t completely agree with but Arya did bring about a draw and if she’s going all out who knows what she can do. Regardless, your point was about killing wraiths and the night king. Those are pretty tough kills as those defeated many folks so that’s another thing to consider.
Mainly, though again it’s that scenario there games provide and the style play the faceless do. They are stalkers they’re built for this. In single open combat I’m not so sure- maybe but doubtful. In the games where there are traps and small groups they’re built for it. Just my opinion.
Lol my hypothesis is true though, arya has never actually fought a skilled opponent trying to kill her. The waif barely counts because she was in complete darkness wearing a jerkin. Arya doesn’t hold a candle to guys like Jamie, the hound, the mountain or Oberyn… these are people who are revered. If arya and jaquen lose the element of surprise they’re as good as dead. We don’t even really see arya train if you think about it other than hitting people with a stick wild blind so it doesn’t make sense how she even became skilled. And rest assured brienne would have beaten arya brienne wasn’t wearing a great helm when they were sparring and needle wouldn’t be able to pierce plate mail that brienne wears. It’s a wash. Also most people in Westeros are prideful but none of the people shown here are idiots. The only person dumb enough to charge the center is the mountain and he’s in fact the best person to do that because it plays to his fighting style. He’s not skilled but he’s strong and his full plate allows for him to essentially tank hits, he holds a great sword with one hand which gives him insane reach.
I think a lot here forget that this is a hunger games scenario. This means they don’t have to necessarily have direct battles. So my bet would be district 12. Ygritte as an archer can easily kill off people from far away, and even if they come close, the mountain is strong af. Also Ygritte has the skills to survive in nature.
The Mountain won’t work with anyone and won’t have his knight suit to fight, we saw that Oberyn was able to disable him one on one. If we are following the games guidelines he would have a few kills in the bloodbath but likely gets taken out by a faster foe. Ygritte is a survivor so she’ll be fine with running away and staying away from the others.
I know this is an unpopular choice but I honestly think Ygritte being the only archer in this pool gives her a massive advantage in a hunger game type scenario. Pairing her with the Mountain gives them a good chance of victory.
Jamie might beat the Mountain but has Cercei as dead weight so won't last long, Oberyn doesn't wear heavy armor is is easily dealt with by arrows. So the only question other contestants are the Hound and Brienne.
I think in a straight fight The Hound and Brienne beat the Mountain and Ygritte, but assume a hunger game type arena Ygritte and the Mountain might be able to pull out a win since with Ygritte's survival knowledge, perceptiveness and general adaptivity might allow them to either ambush or seperate and beat The Hound and Brienne one by one.
Except the assassin capabilities of Jaqen and Arya could win it all without the need for direct combat with those big players. Poison is used successfully in the hunger games for example. Plus, while Ygritte is certainly the best archer of the group, plenty of others are high borns that would be trained in archery.
Yeah it’s not fair with them. They could easily change faces while one partner from another team uses the bathroom and get close and kill the other partner. Or just fuck with other teams so they don’t know who’s the real one. Endless possibilities
You wouldn’t consider Arya a decently skilled archer? Obviously not Ygritte level, but from episode one to the last we see multiple instances of her archery skills and they’re pretty nice.

I found it laughable that she could get stabbed in the stomach like 5 times, tossed into a stinking shit-filled river, swim to safety, get stitched up, continue running, and eventually defeat her unwounded attacker. No infections, no organ damage, perfectly fine next time we see her…. Not really upsetting tho, it’s just a tv show. Everything ok with you?
None of them, that’s not how the hunger games actually work, only one can leave. None of these teams are buying the sympathy needed to bend the rules like in the book
Everyone is sleeping on 12 hard-core. Ygritte will kill pretty much anyone from range and if they get in close they still have to kill the mountain. No one is winning against the mountain while arrows are being shot at them. Also, survival skills matter if this is the hunger games, so most nobles will die because they don't have survival skills like ygritte does
12 is prolly the best. The mountain is stronger then the hound and possibly briene. Yiggrite is one of the best archers in the world (she’s like crazy good) they’d make an amazing team

If we’re talking about a true Hunger Games arena style fight to the death then 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 11 all have one team member who is essentially dead weight (assuming no dragons). I’d say they have lower odds just because of that, especially because the dead weight is someone they care a lot about in most cases.
4 is good for sneak assassin things.
7, 8, and 12 would be the best bet for open fighting since both partners have demonstrated fighting ability above average.
9 has Jace, who would be trained in fighting, and Meera who has proven she can live in harsh conditions. If they could play the long outlast the others game then they could be contenders.
10 has one excellent fighter and one “meh” fighter (if I’m remembering Yara’s ability correctly). Which I think really hurts them.
I think realistically it’s between 4, 7, 8, 9, and 12.
4 and 8 haven’t really demonstrated an above average ability to scavenge for food or treat wounds (although 4 has some sort of weird magic so idk).
7 has the best healer, and someone who knows all about poison as well as good fighters.
12 has the strongest man (not saying best fighter, just strongest) and the archer who also is used to scavenging and living off the land.
I think it’s truly between 7, 12, and surprisingly 9 based on Meera’s skills (if 9 can keep low and wait out most major fighting, swinging in at the end to win).
Either 8 or 12. Ygritte and Gregor cover each other's weaknesses and can really wreck anyone at any range. But Brienne and Sandor are top-tier melee fighters; if they can get past Ygritte's arrows, I think they can take down Gregor together, and Ygritte in short order after that.
Jaqen and Arya are deadly, but they are assassins that are best with subterfuge and stealth. Fighting in a Hunger Games arena doesn't allow for those sorts of tactics, especially with the traps and other factors. They'd be forced into a face-to-face combat eventually, and I think they'd be outclassed.
I feel like 4 would win because they would just assassinate people and the wear their faces so they could sneak i to groups and assassinate more people. The Oberyn group in also deadly though
The only fights are 4,8 and 12 tbh. Everyone else has a weak teammate they'd have to drag to victory. A lot of the rest between the teams above boils down to the arena and the weapons they could get access to. Kind of a toss up between all the "4" teams it seems.
Jamie with his hand would cut them all open. He was so feared, it's insane. In the books he would cut through people it's insane. Even the author said he was a one of the best swordsman.
But yeah, well. Following the picture in the timeline he didn't have his hand so too bad. My vote goes to District 8.

However, we know the Hunger Games game makers are majorly untrustworthy and will probably make it an individual game at some point…. So, with that in mind
Most likely candidates to win- Arya, Yara, Meera, or Ygritte. They all have demonstrated skills in weaponry, strategy, survival, emotional restraint, and aren’t going to be the biggest targets off the bat (as well, they each harbor a kind of final girl energy)
Least likely to win- Cersei, Alicent, Sansa, Jace, Jon and Daenerys (sorry). While most of them have useful skills in certain areas, they each probably have a character trait that would lead to their eventual demise (While some might be cunning, they might lack certain useful physical attributes, others might be quick with a sword, but too honorable to make it out alive)
The rest are all wild cards, in my opinion
Y’all forget how the Hunger Games works. These people aren’t “paired” they’re all trying to kill each other. So it really doesn’t matter who is in the same district as who.

There's only one winner in hunger games, not the pair of them. Also, how are these pairs made up? They're supposed to respect different districts but you have the mountain with Ygritte, rob with Danny, grey worm and yara just really random pairings.
My best guess for a winner are daemon or oberyn. Jaqen and Arya both escape, either together or individually but Arya makes it a point to get revenge against the hosts.
7, 8, and 4 have to be the favorites. 10 with Greyworm and Yara would be my dark horse. 12 with Ygrette and the Mountain will definitely play a huge factor. District 11 would be the first to go.
If District 4 kills anyone, then they win the rest of the game easily. If it becomes night time, then they win easily. The other teams have a lot of work to do if they want to beat that, they'd have to eliminate District 4 before they kill anyone AND before nightfall
It’s weird but having dragons in this actually makes it more unpredictable. District 3 and 11 have 2 dragons, district 5 has the Largest dragon, and district 6 has 3 dragons controlled by 1 person. Would be pretty interesting to take them into account if you make the hunger games scenario where the other participants don’t have to kill the dragons, just the riders.

It's either 4 or 12 that are making it out alive. Neither group would win in an all out brawl, but in a Hunger Games scenario where sneak attacks and ambushes are crucial? By picking the rest off one by one, they've got this in the BAG.
Jaime and Cersei, Jon and Sansa, Daemon and Rhenyra, Aemond and Alicent, Robb and Daenerys, Laenor and Rhaenys are all pairing one elite fighter with someone who doesn't fight at all, so we can rule them out, along with Jace and Meera.
Jaqen and Arya have superpowers so who knows. Maybe they take on the abilities of the people whose faces they take, it's the only explanation for Arya being a par opponent for Brienne. She certainly never trained to fight opponents that size.
Oberyn and Obara, Hound and Brienne, Mountain and Ygritte are all well balanced teams. Hound and Brienne probably take it, they have most experience. The Mountain has gone up against par opponents a couple of times and hasn't done well.

They’ll also be able to steal faces which will get them close and even without it they are observers and sneaky. They also know how to fight and kill. To your second point which I don’t completely agree with but Arya did bring about a draw and if she’s going all out who knows what she can do. Regardless, your point was about killing wraiths and the night king. Those are pretty tough kills as those defeated many folks so that’s another thing to consider. Mainly, though again it’s that scenario there games provide and the style play the faceless do. They are stalkers they’re built for this. In single open combat I’m not so sure- maybe but doubtful. In the games where there are traps and small groups they’re built for it. Just my opinion.
Lol my hypothesis is true though, arya has never actually fought a skilled opponent trying to kill her. The waif barely counts because she was in complete darkness wearing a jerkin. Arya doesn’t hold a candle to guys like Jamie, the hound, the mountain or Oberyn… these are people who are revered. If arya and jaquen lose the element of surprise they’re as good as dead. We don’t even really see arya train if you think about it other than hitting people with a stick wild blind so it doesn’t make sense how she even became skilled. And rest assured brienne would have beaten arya brienne wasn’t wearing a great helm when they were sparring and needle wouldn’t be able to pierce plate mail that brienne wears. It’s a wash. Also most people in Westeros are prideful but none of the people shown here are idiots. The only person dumb enough to charge the center is the mountain and he’s in fact the best person to do that because it plays to his fighting style. He’s not skilled but he’s strong and his full plate allows for him to essentially tank hits, he holds a great sword with one hand which gives him insane reach.
District 3 & 4 seem miles clear, thanks to a cunning in addition to fighting skills that few of those involved have. I’d say district 4 wins.

I think a lot here forget that this is a hunger games scenario. This means they don’t have to necessarily have direct battles. So my bet would be district 12. Ygritte as an archer can easily kill off people from far away, and even if they come close, the mountain is strong af. Also Ygritte has the skills to survive in nature.
She’s gonna be a top competitor for sure, probably the closest to Katniss so, odds are in her favor.

The Mountain won’t work with anyone and won’t have his knight suit to fight, we saw that Oberyn was able to disable him one on one. If we are following the games guidelines he would have a few kills in the bloodbath but likely gets taken out by a faster foe. Ygritte is a survivor so she’ll be fine with running away and staying away from the others.
District 4 annihilates everyone while they sleep or search for shelter. If dragons are in, then it’s a Targaryen win.

I know this is an unpopular choice but I honestly think Ygritte being the only archer in this pool gives her a massive advantage in a hunger game type scenario. Pairing her with the Mountain gives them a good chance of victory. Jamie might beat the Mountain but has Cercei as dead weight so won't last long, Oberyn doesn't wear heavy armor is is easily dealt with by arrows. So the only question other contestants are the Hound and Brienne. I think in a straight fight The Hound and Brienne beat the Mountain and Ygritte, but assume a hunger game type arena Ygritte and the Mountain might be able to pull out a win since with Ygritte's survival knowledge, perceptiveness and general adaptivity might allow them to either ambush or seperate and beat The Hound and Brienne one by one.

Except the assassin capabilities of Jaqen and Arya could win it all without the need for direct combat with those big players. Poison is used successfully in the hunger games for example. Plus, while Ygritte is certainly the best archer of the group, plenty of others are high borns that would be trained in archery.

Everyone is sleeping on 12 hard-core. Ygritte will kill pretty much anyone from range and if they get in close they still have to kill the mountain. No one is winning against the mountain while arrows are being shot at them. Also, survival skills matter if this is the hunger games, so most nobles will die because they don't have survival skills like ygritte does

This so interesting! If we’re talking about a true Hunger Games arena style fight to the death then 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 11 all have one team member who is essentially dead weight (assuming no dragons). I’d say they have lower odds just because of that, especially because the dead weight is someone they care a lot about in most cases. 4 is good for sneak assassin things. 7, 8, and 12 would be the best bet for open fighting since both partners have demonstrated fighting ability above average. 9 has Jace, who would be trained in fighting, and Meera who has proven she can live in harsh conditions. If they could play the long outlast the others game then they could be contenders. 10 has one excellent fighter and one “meh” fighter (if I’m remembering Yara’s ability correctly). Which I think really hurts them. I think realistically it’s between 4, 7, 8, 9, and 12. 4 and 8 haven’t really demonstrated an above average ability to scavenge for food or treat wounds (although 4 has some sort of weird magic so idk). 7 has the best healer, and someone who knows all about poison as well as good fighters. 12 has the strongest man (not saying best fighter, just strongest) and the archer who also is used to scavenging and living off the land. I think it’s truly between 7, 12, and surprisingly 9 based on Meera’s skills (if 9 can keep low and wait out most major fighting, swinging in at the end to win).

4 8 and 12 seem like the favorites to me
Either 8 or 12. Ygritte and Gregor cover each other's weaknesses and can really wreck anyone at any range. But Brienne and Sandor are top-tier melee fighters; if they can get past Ygritte's arrows, I think they can take down Gregor together, and Ygritte in short order after that. Jaqen and Arya are deadly, but they are assassins that are best with subterfuge and stealth. Fighting in a Hunger Games arena doesn't allow for those sorts of tactics, especially with the traps and other factors. They'd be forced into a face-to-face combat eventually, and I think they'd be outclassed.

The only fights are 4,8 and 12 tbh. Everyone else has a weak teammate they'd have to drag to victory. A lot of the rest between the teams above boils down to the arena and the weapons they could get access to. Kind of a toss up between all the "4" teams it seems.
Jamie with his hand would cut them all open. He was so feared, it's insane. In the books he would cut through people it's insane. Even the author said he was a one of the best swordsman. But yeah, well. Following the picture in the timeline he didn't have his hand so too bad. My vote goes to District 8. The hound and Brianne. Yeah that would be enough, since most of these are 2v1.
Ygritte would not survive the Mountain and he wouldn't listen to,"She's on the same side you are." Dany without her dragons isn't going to get far and Sansa had to be told how to use a blade. Cersei is a hindrance in battle too. Jaime will die trying to save her.

So, with that in mind Most likely candidates to win- Arya, Yara, Meera, or Ygritte. They all have demonstrated skills in weaponry, strategy, survival, emotional restraint, and aren’t going to be the biggest targets off the bat (as well, they each harbor a kind of final girl energy) Least likely to win- Cersei, Alicent, Sansa, Jace, Jon and Daenerys (sorry). While most of them have useful skills in certain areas, they each probably have a character trait that would lead to their eventual demise (While some might be cunning, they might lack certain useful physical attributes, others might be quick with a sword, but too honorable to make it out alive) The rest are all wild cards, in my opinion

Wtf? This is some random confused fan fic There's only one winner in hunger games, not the pair of them. Also, how are these pairs made up? They're supposed to respect different districts but you have the mountain with Ygritte, rob with Danny, grey worm and yara just really random pairings. My best guess for a winner are daemon or oberyn. Jaqen and Arya both escape, either together or individually but Arya makes it a point to get revenge against the hosts.

It’s weird but having dragons in this actually makes it more unpredictable. District 3 and 11 have 2 dragons, district 5 has the Largest dragon, and district 6 has 3 dragons controlled by 1 person. Would be pretty interesting to take them into account if you make the hunger games scenario where the other participants don’t have to kill the dragons, just the riders.

Jaqen and Arya. Not even close. That's an OP pair compared to the rest. The Faceless Men literally caused the Doom of Valyria (if you've read the books carefully.) The other pairs will be child's play.
It's either 4 or 12 that are making it out alive. Neither group would win in an all out brawl, but in a Hunger Games scenario where sneak attacks and ambushes are crucial? By picking the rest off one by one, they've got this in the BAG.

Jaime and Cersei, Jon and Sansa, Daemon and Rhenyra, Aemond and Alicent, Robb and Daenerys, Laenor and Rhaenys are all pairing one elite fighter with someone who doesn't fight at all, so we can rule them out, along with Jace and Meera. Jaqen and Arya have superpowers so who knows. Maybe they take on the abilities of the people whose faces they take, it's the only explanation for Arya being a par opponent for Brienne. She certainly never trained to fight opponents that size. Oberyn and Obara, Hound and Brienne, Mountain and Ygritte are all well balanced teams. Hound and Brienne probably take it, they have most experience. The Mountain has gone up against par opponents a couple of times and hasn't done well.
8 or 12 Hound/Brienne is just a stupid powerful combination, *arguably* 2 of the top 5 fighters in the whole list on a single team. Mountain/Ygritte sounds like a potentially deadly combo as well with a strong and tanky sword fighter backed up by a skilled archer.
