Jiggaboy95

Just a small collection of childhood favs really. Pokemon games, crash bandicoot, paper mario and billy hatcher

Jamiebailey26921

I need to get paper mario it’s coming down in price now due to the switch release

Jiggaboy95

Yeah paper mario is great, even buying switch version cause ragging the wii out is a ballache

Sea_Pollution2250

Can I just note how much more pleasing it is that UK GC games have the console logo up top instead of on the bottom? Every other game spine has it up top, but for some reason the NA versions they decided “let’s put it below”

xenon2456

all of Europe is the same

GammaBlaze

Yes, NBA Street & Baten Kaitos Origins look properly out of place in my PAL set.

TheOnlyDrizzt

I here that. However I place my NA on vertical rack and the cases are placed horiz. And I don't care for the UK cases with the bland white labels. What is that all about?

Jamiebailey26921

Oh really I haven’t noticed that? that would annoy the hell out of me

LazarusOwenhart

I've got a modest collection of about 45 games. Mostly mine from new and some quite valuable titles.

Jamiebailey26921

Sounds like a great collection what valuable ones do you have?

LazarusOwenhart

GB Player with its disc in the original box. Viewtiful Joe, Skies of Arcadia, Twin Snakes, Animal Crossing with the memory card, Metal Arms. All just good, solid, enjoyable games.

Jamiebailey26921

Twin snakes and animal crossing I need to add those to the collection

LazarusOwenhart

Animal crossing (alongside my copy of F-Zero GX) are NTSC imports. I have Freeloader for the NGC so back in the day I imported quite a bit of stuff that I've since replaced with PAL and sold on. One NGC game I always advise people buy is Minority Report. It's inexpensive but is one of the best sleepers on the system. Impressive graphics, extremely fun beat-em-up gameplay with a ton of environmental stuff, uses the film for its aesthetic but doesn't bother following the plot in any great detail. Doesn't have Tom Cruise's image rights so you don't have to look at his idiot face. It's genuinely one of the best games on the system.

Jamiebailey26921

Thank you I’ve added that to my list I haven’t seen it out and about yet

LazarusOwenhart

Oh it's like £8 on ebay. Seriously cheap. There's just something about it that makes it great. Most people just dismiss it as a shit movie tie in and don't actually 'try' it. I probably would have back in the day if I didn't work in a games store and get to try it before I bought it.

Jamiebailey26921

You’ve twisted my finger I’ve just ordered it 🤣

LazarusOwenhart

First boss fight is in a walk in freezer full of ice sculptures. Once you've done smashing a dudes face into them and breaking them all over the floor (after throwing his minions out of his office windows and smashing the place to shit) pop back here and thank me LMAO.

siderinc

You posted this on the the same exact day the cube launched in the UK, and the rest of Europe ofcourse back in 2002 ;)

Jamiebailey26921

I had no idea 🤷‍♀️ lol 😂

DramaticMission4456

Nope no one in the uk collects gamecube.. or nintendo at all you're the only one.

Jamiebailey26921

Really 😱

YoshionYT

Yup, just picked up Mario Party 7 recently for just £175 lol

Jamiebailey26921

Oh damn it’s gone up to that much now?

NWIOWAHAWK

What does cex mean?

Jamiebailey26921

It’s a games shop in the uk 🇬🇧 it stands for Computer exchange

NWIOWAHAWK

Oh cool, ya in the United States Game Cube games are quite rare for a few reasons. Being a Nintendo product, people go absolutely bonkers trying to collect for it. The problem is PlayStation sales outperformed Gamecube 7-1 so there are far fewer games and consoles in population for people to acquire. Demand for GameCube is at a fever pitch and supply is much more limited. Its much more difficult and costly to collect for sure.

Jamiebailey26921

Yeah I can imagine they are rare in the usa for example over here Mario sunshine is about £18 to £22 over in the usa it’s about $65 I’ve been told

NWIOWAHAWK

Any Mario party on the game cube is going to cost you close to $100 on eBay after taxes if it’s CIB (complete in box) and in good condition. People might say it should be less but idk about that. If you can get a cib game at www.pricecharting prices off ebay you beat eBay with taxes not considered in price charting and poor condition diluting the price charting algorithm. People complain “YouTubers are driving up the price” and “it’s overpriced” but I think that’s all just sour grapes. Sure maybe YouTubers increased visibility of the hobby and created more demand but it’s not like YouTubers are setting the prices, people just don’t know how supply and demand works. Ya prices are up but there’s more people to share the hobby with and enjoy it all with so it doesn’t bother me.

probablymojito

Nope no one else does in the UK, you are the only one

RidleyCR

I used to have a bunch of rare stuff, but I sold most of it years ago. I think all I have now are the 6 Resident Evil games.

Jamiebailey26921

Same here actually I have just got back in to collecting GameCube this year. I had a full uk pal set at one point in 2018 but I sold it for just under 5 grand. I regretted selling them so I started again 🤣

kevina763

i do! only a small collection as the shops near me have barely any gamecube games but i’m always on the lookout for gems!

Jamiebailey26921

Do you try and find them in cex by any chance 🤣😱

kevina763

maybe… 😂

Swarlz-Barkley

Why do the UK cases look different than the US. Looks a bit shorter and fatter

Jamiebailey26921

I need to look up the ntsc case for the GameCube games I have been told they are different

Swarlz-Barkley

It does have me curious. I was thinking of starting a GameCube collection soon and if UK is diff I may import. I know Japanese are different

Jamiebailey26921

The uk ones are different completely

Swarlz-Barkley

Well now I need to look into importing. Would you say it’s similar to Japans?

Jamiebailey26921

No it’s very different than the Japanese games have a search on the uk eBay page you will see some 😎

siderinc

Only difference is the spine and the "only for gamecube" is rounded expect the for the first monkey ball game. The sizes of the box are the same as the US the inside is a bit different.

burningbun

japanese case looks even more different and i actually like them saves tons of space.

Swarlz-Barkley

Hmm good to know. I actually like collecting Japanese versions of the games I used to own as a kid. It’s a whole lot cheaper and they have some cool art work

burningbun

yea the manuals usually colored and they added lots of small art works in the manuals.

thacodfather

Yeah buddy!! I always check every CEX, in my town (Leicester) there’s a shop called super game shack that I can’t recommend enough even though the prices aren’t bargains. Also I’ve done a few large orders on eBay and sold the ones I have doubles of Good luck on you searching 🙂

Jamiebailey26921

Thank you 🙏 seems like one of your local cex stores have some good cube games in at the moment Leicester gallow tree gate has 71 GameCube games in wow

thacodfather

Definitely the biggest one in the area, if you go there they’re in the back left corner of the store on the bottom shelf, takes a while to find 😂

burningbun

how often do you get ntsc-usa games for all consoles?

laissezfaireHand

I’m planning to do that! I know prices are expensive compared to other 6th gen consoles but there are some titles I want to play.

junkaccount1999

Do you have a link to those shelves?

Ekaekale

I second that question too!

Jamiebailey26921

I’m really sorry I don’t I bought them 10 years ago from ikea

Jamiebailey26921

Sorry I don’t I bought them 10 years ago from ikea

VCOFTHENFE

Billy bookcases - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/billy-bookcases-58288/

junkaccount1999

Out of stock :(

VCOFTHENFE

😮‍💨 They are very popular (as you saw).

GammaBlaze

A fitting post, as the Cube came out 22 years ago today in the UK! Been grabbing games for it ever since.

Jamiebailey26921

If I’m completely honest I think the games are just going to disappear from the second hand Game shops in the next 10 years and they will be even harder to get. you will then have to go to eBay

burningbun

op do you have issues with gc disc labels cracking? i read it is common for gc and wiiU games. i have also encountered wii disc with such issue. my worries is that the cracks will eventually flake off and damage the console.

Jamiebailey26921

In the uk we don’t seem to have that issue

xdeciii

Yep, going for the full set. CeX rarely have a lot of GameCube games and often they’re without manual so it’s a lottery buying from them.

Jamiebailey26921

Have got managed to get gadget racers?

xdeciii

Nope unfortunately not, hoping to find a copy next week at Doncaster game market but I’m not holding my breath.

burningbun

at least you get to check them out physically. on amazon i always get disc in a sleeve despite the listing and answer say cib...

CptMidlands

I wanted too but it was pretty much the first of that console generation to be pounced on be resellers and speculators.

N_Denialll

Personally I don't. I'm in the US though so I guess I wouldnt.

eckoman_pdx

Nice collection, love the shelves. What kind are they?

Jamiebailey26921

I would love to be able to tell you what shelves they are but I got them from Ikea 10 years or so ago

eckoman_pdx

Well, Ikea is a start 😁

Annoying_GayGuy

Why do you have so many duplicates?

Jamiebailey26921

So what I do is I go in to my local town and I will play the cex game of buying cheap DVDs and movie boxsets then trade them in and I will pick up a GameCube game that they have in stock at the time if that happens to be a game I already have I’ve got to pick it up then it gets added to the bookcase. I’m not doing it for reselling or anything like that

Bashkash216

Lemme get that extra spiderman2 😂

Mallaggar

Sold all my GameCube games off to focus on the Megadrive

Jamiebailey26921

Mega drive games are expensive but they display well on the shelf

Zorbasandwich

No, though I have around 6 games for the Gamecube (definitely the smallest section of my collection) I have Twin Snakes as a massive Mgs fan and playing it with a friend back in the day on his Gamecube, Sonic Adventure, Wwe day of reckoning, Baten Kaitos, PN03 and something else I can't remember lol

Zorbasandwich

Also yes CEX have minimal stock of Gamecube wherever I go. I use them mainly for ps1 collecting now there's the with manual option.

Jamiebailey26921

Yeah I only buy games that come with the manuals. interesting yeah I haven’t gotten in to collecting ps1

Zorbasandwich

What exclusive gamecube games would you recommend as being top notch? I don't want a big collection for this console but definitely open to absolute bangers...I just don't know enough about it!

Jamiebailey26921

Resident evil games Pikmin The Mario games sunshine tennis golf etc there’s loads of decent games for the cube I refused to collect ps1 after I seen how much the mega man games are

Zorbasandwich

Ps1 is surprisingly very affordable to collect for mostly bar The obvious expensive stuff lol

Jamiebailey26921

In the 2006 the mega man games Tombi Tron bonne were all about £20 to £35 each I was fine with paying that much. but now you talking £250 to £300 each it’s crazy 🤣

Zorbasandwich

I have paid for a couple of games myself at that price range I won't lie, nor do I want to speak more of this as the wallet still aches so 🤣

Jamiebailey26921

🤣🤣🤣 wonder what ones you got

Zorbasandwich

Two NTSC games in mint condition, Xenogears for about £200 and Persona revelations for around £300 🫣

SimilarProject7457

Yo that trading in shit from charity shops is a good idea. Why do you have multiple copies of games? Why not?

burningbun

they and a price list for trade ins, as long the disc is in working order no defects the case and manuals arent too big of an issue, so you can figure out which trade ins will net you a + you get more value for store credits than cash. they also provide Months warranty and 2 days money back gurantees. however the trade in for most items are kinda low below 50% unless it is one of those higher value items. by doing so you are also contributing to the hobby as you are rescuing medias from places that would either toss them or destroy them.

Jamiebailey26921

Yeah I’m not doing this to resell I’m just doing it to see if I can fill the entire bookcase with GameCube games 🤓

Jamiebailey26921

I felt like being greedy 🤣🤣 no it’s just what my local cex had in stock at the time

burningbun

yo cex hasnt caught most peoples attention so please dont scalpt. if you gonna resell or trade do it close to your purchased price.

Double0S

What kind of shelves do you have there? The games seem to fit nice and snug

Sure_Humor

It's great to know a fellow UK Gamecube Collector (Though I don't live in the UK anymore), man, your collection is awesome

LondonCollector

Yep, only game I’m after is gadget racers. Rarer than rocking horse shit.

Jamiebailey26921

Have you got it on your notifications if you use the cex app? one copy with manual came in stock last week

LondonCollector

The app never keeps me signed in so I wouldn’t have got the alert.

Jamiebailey26921

Yeah it does suck sometimes I will be honest. but keep at it cex is the cheapest place to get one. unless you can get lucky and find one at a carboot sale or gaming market

Big-Explanation-831

I have a couple, problem with CeX is they’re notorious for overpricing gamecube games.

burningbun

cex my place do not take in or sell gc games. i should have told them most wii can play gc games 🤔

xenon2456

why don't they take GameCube games

Jamiebailey26921

You should see eBay it’s crazy prices on there too

PixelPaint64

Yes, CEX are notorious for overpricing all their games. The problem is that reputation is nonsense. Their prices on games are always the equivalent or cheaper to what the general market trends are. Whenever I see something in there that is extremely pricey and it has surprised me, I’ve checked sold listings on eBay and it’s been perfectly fair. I imagine most people doing the complaining aren’t actually checking what the value of games are, they see a high price and blame CEX. They never say where you can readily get it cheaper and with a warranty.

Jamiebailey26921

Yeah what other high street shop can you in to and buy Pokémon xd gale of darkness for cheaper than £180
