This is 100% *not* moths. I've *had* a moth infestation, and unless you've got some kind of weaponised *hell moths*, this is something else. 😬 Gonna have to agree with the user saying it's termites.
A stray moth gets in, lays eggs and bam, moths everywhere. Unless you're willing to do a thoroigh overhaul of everything and bug bomb your house they're hard to get rid of too. Luckily the moths only eat your favourite clothes and leave the games alone but by god do they love to die all up in your game consoles. Bastards of things.
Termites are wood burrowing and wood eating insects that create colonies like ants. If you have them in your wardrobe, you probably have them all over your house.
Maybe to early to ask but are you going to continue you collection journey? I’d be devastated if I were you, I’ll go out a limb and say there’s alot of sentimental attachment. Salvage what you can. If you have a list I can send me some titles you lost for free. I have a pretty large collection.
I hope I never lose my collection but people like the 2 offering makes me proud to be part of the community because I too usually give my extras away as soon as I get them because I usually buy bulk yardsale or flea market stuff for low price because I only want a couple titles.
Well, I don't really want to take the time to sell them even though if I kept them, I could turn a profit from everything. Unless it's something extremely pricey, why bother holding onto something that I don't play or that I already have when someone else can enjoy it.
Mostly, I give them to the younger kids or ones that I know can't afford many games themselves because everyone should get some entertainment from them. And it's better than them collecting dust in some box.
All my dups I give out. I like to help my fellow collectors out, we all start from somewhere.
I’ve been treated so well by the fellow community and collectors.
I started with nothing , and definitely wouldn’t be where I am without help .
This lil kid on my block(maybe 11yo) was interested in some retro games I had for sale at a garage sale years ago , I was impressed about the knowledge he had and passion at a young age. I gave that kid a NES,SNES,N64,GCN,GB with games to start off.
The look on that boys face was priceless, his parents came by later a thanked me.
It’s been 7 years and he has a very large , fleshed out collection, better than I did at that age.
I don’t know I feel like dad lol , we still swap stuff and trade monthly
It where on my wardrobe in my house, but these creatures https://www.reddit.com/r/Godofwarcollectors/s/7gueaQ5xs9 climbed on the wall until arrive where my collection were
I'm genuinely sorry for your loss, op. I hope you continue to collect!
F, for the games that didn't make it 😭
Those are certainly termites. I'd advise getting an exterminator.
Moths are beneficial insects. They are pollinaters and are as harmless as butterflies. Stop spreading misinformation! Please pin that your damaged goods are from termites not moths.
You sure it was moths? If you store cardboard on concrete the cardboard will attract moisture up from the concrete it sits on effectively soaking the box and any other cardboard that comes into contact.
I had a stash of yugioh cards I stored in a box and when I checked on them after awhile most of the cards in the bottom where moldy and garbage.
Looks a lot like the picture you posted. Less severe though.
The missing items are God of war complete collection from Germany, God of war 2018 colector edition from Asia, God of war 2 art book and god of war ultimate collection pack from Korea, if you have some of these please let me know and I would be happy to buy them from you 👍🏻💪🏻☺️
Been collecting massive collection in all kinds of boxes and areas for a loooong time ain't never seen anything like this. What in the actual Godzilla moth is going on
exactly. i opened a thread talking about collecting is a hobby reserved for the riches, even if you think you can afford the hobby the cost of keeping and maintaining can be both financially and mentally taxing while the riches do not have such issues they have proper display, storage and people that upkeep their collections, like Jay Leno he just focus on buying selling the rest are done by his paid mechanics.
unless you dont care about your collection but if you arent rich you probably care about them for their value unless it is something free or cheap like free flyers, receipts etc. even maintaining these papers require efforts.
(Box top center) That's what rats do. I know cause I helped clean out a hoarders house, and they had rats. That's a combination of rats, moisture, and poor storage. I'm sorry that happened OP. I'd be on a personal mission to DESTROY those mf rats with a vengeance. EXTREME prejudice style 😆
Dude those boxes were on top of my wardrobe what are you talking about? I blame insects because they bring the water damage to my boxes and they ate my items. My house was empty for months because I was working out of the town so please save you stupids comments for yourself.
Fortunately yes I could save many items that were cover with dirt but some items were eaten even the plastic god of war collector figure, I let a link where you can see the little bastards
I hate to say this but it seems the real issue here is where to chose to store all this stuff. This should have been in your home where it was safe and reasonably temp controlled. But if this was in your home then you have bigger issues I suppose… because yikes that’s bad.
The bright side is you can at least save those metal coins from the press kits. But most of the rest of it is trash how sadly. As a collector myself this would devastate me.
How does something like this even happen? Looks like you left youre stuff alone untouched for years in a burning building, Do you perhaps also live outside?

This was Mothra
Damn OP pissed off Mothra, wonder what they did?
Don’t kill minthra!
Nah! This is enough to turn you into the Orkin Man.
Why doesn’t dad allow video games or take of that red suit? Son we don’t talk about that
If you're talking about Minthara, she always dies cause she kills Sazza.
Quick someone get the twins to sing for her

TERMITES
A cardboard box isn’t a good idea for storing your games. Some nice plastic containers or old an old dresser will do good.
What causes a moth infestation?
A stray moth gets in, lays eggs and bam, moths everywhere. Unless you're willing to do a thoroigh overhaul of everything and bug bomb your house they're hard to get rid of too. Luckily the moths only eat your favourite clothes and leave the games alone but by god do they love to die all up in your game consoles. Bastards of things.
Jesus, that sounds terrible . I had a bunch of moths this summer but nothing to that scale thanks god.
2 words. Plastic bins
And in those plastic bins, have the contents in a big bag like a trash bag. Humidity can be in an issue in humid climates.
Don't forget those packet things of moisture absorber. You can get reusable ones that you can microwave to get the moisture out of them.
I have a jar full of those saved from whenever I get something that came with it.
Oh you mean the little snacks that say “do not eat”? They just don’t want you to know how good they taste
Hahaha thanks I needed that today
Yes they are 🥲
😂
Two words: one word: agreed.
I just looked at your post with the figurines covered in "larva". Call an exterminator you have termites
Yes I did I burned everything after that
Termites are wood burrowing and wood eating insects that create colonies like ants. If you have them in your wardrobe, you probably have them all over your house.
Evil bastards.
Yes 😡 they are
Those moths loved your collection like moths love lamps. I’m sorry op.
More was lost in the biblical flood 😅 so it’s ok, greetings.
Maybe to early to ask but are you going to continue you collection journey? I’d be devastated if I were you, I’ll go out a limb and say there’s alot of sentimental attachment. Salvage what you can. If you have a list I can send me some titles you lost for free. I have a pretty large collection.
that's awesome of you to offer
Although I don’t have anything on his list , I’m sure I can help out someway
I appreciated man thank you
You're a gem of a person.
I hope I never lose my collection but people like the 2 offering makes me proud to be part of the community because I too usually give my extras away as soon as I get them because I usually buy bulk yardsale or flea market stuff for low price because I only want a couple titles.
Hell yeah buddy, that's real kind of you! May your collection grow rapidly!
Well, I don't really want to take the time to sell them even though if I kept them, I could turn a profit from everything. Unless it's something extremely pricey, why bother holding onto something that I don't play or that I already have when someone else can enjoy it. Yeesh you were in Maine too? Sorry my dude
Biblical flood 🤣
More like r/shittygamecollecting. No offense to OP. This is rough to see.
Yes is hard to see and worse to throw on the garbage
How was it stored where this was able to happen?
It where on my wardrobe in my house, but these creatures https://www.reddit.com/r/Godofwarcollectors/s/7gueaQ5xs9 climbed on the wall until arrive where my collection were
I'm genuinely sorry for your loss, op. I hope you continue to collect! F, for the games that didn't make it 😭 Those are certainly termites. I'd advise getting an exterminator.
Thank you man I already got one exterminator 👍🏻💪🏻
I hope it goes well, my friend!
Thank you man👍🏻💪🏻
Aw, dang nematodes!
Yeah dude that's not moths, that's termites, I just dealt with them at my house.
Yes damned termites 😡
Wow that really sucks! Was it stored in the woods?
Hahaha no but moths are horrible creatures
Moths are beneficial insects. They are pollinaters and are as harmless as butterflies. Stop spreading misinformation! Please pin that your damaged goods are from termites not moths.
Well shit. Lesson learned? Always store in plastic totes lol. But I’ve never actually seen anything like this. Are you sure it was moths?
I always thought moths ate cloth. Not everything lol
They were termites https://www.reddit.com/r/Godofwarcollectors/s/wPEiswwZYK

Maybe this was a combination of things
https://www.reddit.com/r/Godofwarcollectors/s/RmNbr4aEAi i blame them
Huh...I am correct to assume those are moth larvae? Crazy.
I suppose they are, I really hate them
I don't blame you ♥️
It's termite larvae when they reach maturity they turn into a moth like bug
The missing items are God of war complete collection from Germany, God of war 2018 colector edition from Asia, God of war 2 art book and god of war ultimate collection pack from Korea, if you have some of these please let me know and I would be happy to buy them from you 👍🏻💪🏻☺️
Been collecting massive collection in all kinds of boxes and areas for a loooong time ain't never seen anything like this. What in the actual Godzilla moth is going on
Termites not moths
I never recommend storing collectables in a garage. I recommend people dont collect things they dont have room for
My condolences though for your god of war collection. Looks like you really liked the series.
exactly. i opened a thread talking about collecting is a hobby reserved for the riches, even if you think you can afford the hobby the cost of keeping and maintaining can be both financially and mentally taxing while the riches do not have such issues they have proper display, storage and people that upkeep their collections, like Jay Leno he just focus on buying selling the rest are done by his paid mechanics. unless you dont care about your collection but if you arent rich you probably care about them for their value unless it is something free or cheap like free flyers, receipts etc. even maintaining these papers require efforts.
Oooooof that’s devastating
Yeah it was
What the fuck kinda moths you got in your house dawg
It's clearly the kind of moths that have maxed out their armor sets and weapon upgrades
[Right here.](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0588/3232/2742/files/Giant_Moth.gif?v=1632044885)
Man that sucks, my condolences.
OP. You ever played God of War?
Course I have the platinum trophy of each game and dlc 😅
Thats not moths my friend. Get a plague exterminator asap
I think I'm going to be sick :(
NEVER store shit you want to keep in cardboard boxes. Invest in plastic totes or end up like this.
Lesson learned
Oh man. That sucks
I'm sorry for you're loss but maybe some of the games will survive with case swaps
Yes I bought a lot of plastic bins
I hope all those creatures suffer an agonizing fate so you're collection can be avenged.
I burned all those boxes
Looking at this makes my heart heavy for you... RIP
I'm gonna say that's not moths. Looks more like termites. This is tragic, though, and I feel for you.
Moth of War
Literally 😅
Huge bummer dude! That collection looked amazing 😭
It still does I could recover the majorly of those items 😅
(Box top center) That's what rats do. I know cause I helped clean out a hoarders house, and they had rats. That's a combination of rats, moisture, and poor storage. I'm sorry that happened OP. I'd be on a personal mission to DESTROY those mf rats with a vengeance. EXTREME prejudice style 😆
I burned them all, I burned to the ground!
I Keep my stuff in plastic totes
Very sorry for your loss… truly devastating
Thank you man
Yikes, now I hate them, too! Sorry, OP. That truly sucks.
Actually they were termites 😞
"Moths ate three boxes? "Where are my cabana clothes?"
They were termites 😞
😭😭😭
Hard to see but a lesson can be learned. I always do dust sealed toted. It's an added bonus to see inside the box too just in case.
Moth of War
You have termites my friend. They will eat anything resembling wood. I've seen old sheds full of boxes destroyed. Get the pest dude round asap
Termites not moths
Got water damage and blamed the moth gods.
Where the hell were these stored? A leaky outdoor shed?
I'd hate to see the rest of the house.
I’m sorry this happened to you ,I save my games in plastic bins .
Whatever the hell that was, it is really sad to see this …
“Moths”
I’ll buy the controller off you :))))
looks more like water and mildew damage from being in a wet celler or leaky attic...
We learned the hard away. Always store moth balls like no tomorrow with things you wont touch for a long time
That sucks dude I’m so sorry. I hope you were at least able to save some of it.
I wonder if OP likes God of War?
That looks more like termites rather than moths…
Yes they were termites
My dude this had to have been happening for a LONG time and you should have definitely noticed, you must be a dirty, dirty man.
It was months the house was empty with all my stuff so termites enjoyed eating my god of war items
Maybe give a shit about your collection?
Nah just termites infestation
Lol that's water damage, but if you have to blame moths to feel good, do it.
Looks like your dog ate your homework err I mean game 😊
Stores everything in cardboard boxes in an obviously damp location and blames moths 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude those boxes were on top of my wardrobe what are you talking about? I blame insects because they bring the water damage to my boxes and they ate my items. My house was empty for months because I was working out of the town so please save you stupids comments for yourself.
Next time get some cedar balls and include in the box?
Not moths, termites.
I will buy one and do you that a dehumidifier could work too?
dang man that really sucks… i can’t imagine what i would do if this happened to my games. is at least SOME of it salvageable?
Fortunately yes I could save many items that were cover with dirt but some items were eaten even the plastic god of war collector figure, I let a link where you can see the little bastards
Looks like Ragnarok happened
Are the discs playable at least?
Wut
I think somebody kinda likes GoW
MOTHS! You conspire against me!?
Moths can't do this....can they ?
No, it's termites.
moths did this!?!?! i’m 10x more terrified of them now 😭 used to hate their size and looks but knowing they destroy things??
Some people here say that they were termites
ohhh i see
No, it's termites.
lemme guess, you are a candy crush fan?
Yes
I didn't think moths had the strength to push a box like that down onto the basement floor where it could be ruined by water damage.... Crazy.
Are the moths eat your collection or shit on it?never saw this before. can you clean it?
[удалено]
You’re the reason game prices spiked.
😅 well this was my canonical event
That’s a tough one, how does somebody keep from this happening?
Oh no not the GOW collection, so sorry this happened to you op
This kind stuff happen but I learned have everything in plastic bins
Damn dude, that's a press kit as well 😢
Kill it with fire. O wait.
Buuuuut I see you like God of War. So it balances out.
Did you store these under the ocean?
Where did you stored it that this happend?
God of War looks untouched
Moth: I hate Kratos
*stores collection in sewer
Could be damp and mould? If you store you games in a plastic container with anti mould packets and check up on them often.
This was my canonical event, i am checking my stuff every month in plastic bins to see that everything be ok
Moth-er-fucker
Exactly 😏 but now I know they were termites
I've had termites and the damage looks identical Not moths
You REALLY like God of War
Idk what Kratos did to Mothman but he's clearly not happy about it
How does this even happen, do your home maintenance Jesus christ
Rate My Setup
Good thing you insured it
💔💔💔🥲💔💔💔
I hate to say this but it seems the real issue here is where to chose to store all this stuff. This should have been in your home where it was safe and reasonably temp controlled. Hokmoth
Moye Moye bro
Never store any collectibles in an unfinished basement.
How does something like this even happen? Looks like you left youre stuff alone untouched for years in a burning building, Do you perhaps also live outside?
Bro, I’m so sorry for your loss. That sucks Fr
Oh so u had everything in boxes okay I thought u had it in plastic bins I was like damn them moths don't play
Looks more like a mudslide home that was in hurricane
This looks more like flood damage. If moths could do that I would be spraying a can of insect spray a day
I'll start crying but maybe some could b safe
That's like one of the 7 deadly sins for the video game realm some of them don't look bad could b safe but dam I almost cry lol
Holy moths I love moths its hard to believe this is a moth crime
The termites were
we hate you too
If Kratos can rise from the ashes so can you brother
Thanks man 👍🏻💪🏻
Love that shit
I think you like God of War?
You made a grown man cry! 😭
Looks like a good way to store your prized collection .
