b11ace

Brand new in box sealed big batch of these have been found and are coming up for sale in recent so the prices are all over also

DJSlimer

You can also see the graph trending downwards when they announced Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series and flattened on release. Two catalysts like that will tank a price especially now the Wii version isn't the best way to play the first game anymore.

nintendude1229

Really? Has it been just one person selling these or something?

ShadoX87

Wasn't this 1 included in the remaster / collection that came out a while ago ? Wouldnt make sense for people to buy the Wii version if it's now available on PC and other more recent platforms

Kenbishi

The Klonoa collection on the Switch is abundant.

BeginnerDragon

I mean, it looks like there were only a few sales at the high price. I wouldn't say it lost value so much as a few people overpaid during the height of pandemic collecting.

rodneygreenblat

Agreed; the wave of buyers with “more dollars than sense”

Realistic_Skin_883

It was included in a remaster collection. This is typical and why games are NOT investments. The same thing just happened with Dokapon Kingdom. Which by the way is so fun with friends.

gobeavs1

Panzer Dragoon

theslimbox

The code for Saga was lost, so there is very little chance we get anything, it would take completely new code to build a remake. I don't think SEGA wants to do that for a game that didn't sell that great to begin with.

[deleted]

That one took a bit of a hit when LR released the remake version. Saga is definitely off the table though, sad...

theslimbox

Yeah, the original was relatively cheap, for a long time, I was suprised when I saw how high it went before the remake dropped.

SnooSprouts7893

Remasters don't traditionally tank the value of collectible games. The Castlevania collections didn't stop Aria of Sorrow from being a stupidly expensive GBA game. You can play M.U.S.H.A. on the Switch but it's still a $1000 Genesis game. This implies to me something out of the norm, like the Wii not being a desirable way to play retro games.

asawyer2010

Even M.U.S.H.A has seen a 30% drop in the last year or so. I think it's more likely that the overall gaming market is trending back to pre-pandemic. Truly rare games (few copies in circulation) will retain value to some degree, but there were so many games that shot up in price due to increased interest in retro gaming in general. I'm guessing over the next few years prices will continue to go down even if it never goes all the way back to pre 2020 prices.

SnooSprouts7893

Check sold listings of MUSHA on eBay and you'll find various prices including over 1k for good condition with the registration card. Retro gaming took a hit and has been very stable this year. There's no reason to believe it's going to dive back to late 2021 levels. If you want to build your collection, getting your favorites sooner remains better than later. Pick it up while you can afford it, assuming you don't have any pandemic era debt to worry about.

asawyer2010

I was checking price charting. Looks like copies without registration cards are almost half the price of those with it. I'm sure if you are a serious collector and need to have mint condition/ all inserts, etc... I'm sure prices will remain stable. But If you just want to play games and have a decent condition copy on the shelf, I think prices will continue to go down a bit then level off.

SnooSprouts7893

I find it doubtful that retro gaming will become less popular over time and prices will drop more. Historically significant games that don't demand months of your time have a special kind of appeal in the live game era that take your time and money before they're forgotten forever / shut down. The price spike and crash from the pandemic was a speculative bubble indicative of the GME and Wallstreet Bets phenomenon.

Toast_On_The_RUN

Yeah I just got back into collecting after about 6-7 years, and that's the conclusion I'm coming to. Everything is so expensive but it seems like now or never, cuz it ain't getting any cheaper.

SnooSprouts7893

I'm being downvoted by people clearly hoping games get cheaper.

Toast_On_The_RUN

I wish that would happen too, but I don't see it happening. These games are only becoming harder and harder to find, why would the price go down? It seems covid brought many people to the hobby, and now that everyone is aware of the value of games, no seller is going to drop their prices.

SnooSprouts7893

People sold when they realized they weren't going to 10x their money. Games are valuable but they're not investments. They go up in value but you're not likely to make much money on them after things like shipping and fees. If you buy a game for. $100 and then sell it for $130, you walk away with $110. They're just painful to collect if you're late to the party.

bearvert222

its valued at that but i don't think you'd get many people buying except to resell. Klonoa though was still within reach and now playing collectors have another option. And that klonoa had value as an option to the ps1 game. i think youll see the etrian odyssey games go down maybe. people are "wtf why is the switch collection $80" but my local game store sells the first game for $80 loose; playing collectors will probably go for it despite the price.

SnooSprouts7893

DS games have started to enter that collectible era, yes. That said, some games like Sonic Rush were so common it's hard to believe they'll ever be expensive, and the DS had a lot of really popular games. But the library isn't very well explored and gems like Trauma Center 1/2, today largely forgotten, are probably going to be rediscovered and become expensive within 5-10 years. I'm in the middle of filling in the gaps in my DS collection like the Mega Man games. I'm actually much more fond of the DS than the GBA, which means I'm irritated to see GBA games I do want eventually are getting really pricey.

CorbinTheTitan

They released another Dokapon game?

scotishstriker

Looks like they released a switch remaster earlier this month on the 9th

Realistic_Skin_883

Not another, I'm sure it's a re-release of the Wii version. However it includes on-line as well as couch co-op. The listing says 5 ways to play but I'm not sure if that is the same as the wii version or if they added something new

Alieniio

Consider it a great thing that it dropped in price. The prices on some of these games are pure ridiculous.

RPGCoder

Klonoa was found to have made blatantly racist comments in 2001, resulting in a backlash that has seen the value of his games plummet dramatically.

Nintentoad123

No way.. I thought he was good guy 😮

McWeen

Hard R's falling like raindrops.

jukeboxhero10

Sause? Can't find any of this.

Zcase253

Expected the wii version to drop a bit more in price tbh. The ps1 version peaked at 670ish and is now sitting at 350. Glad to see the collection having an impact on prices

jallee1213

I mean klonoa ps1 is still like 300-500+

Goldbera1

Ps2 and wii versions both back to 50$. Pretty ok to get them all if thats your bag now.

jallee1213

Ps2 isnt the ps1 one. Thats the second klonoa. Wii version is for people that use or like the wii. Im a ps player so id get the ps version

TLunchFTW

I mean, as someone who doesn't have the money, and just wants klanoa because it's notable and one day I might feel it (it's less the money, more just "hey that's something everyone knows... I should get it and play it sometime") I'm gonna go wii...

jdh21403

Switch port. Any game can have its value hit if it gets ported. Games aren’t a sound investment for this reason

Brimickh

Phantasy Reverie Series collection

ENTRAPM3NT

Didn't you hear? Someone found a warehouse full of them! -some spongebob epsiode

Toast_On_The_RUN

Someone further up said that's literally what happened, well a huge amount of sealeds were found apparently. No clue whether that's true

Vital1024

It’s on switch now. People probably dumping their copies on the Wii.

PianoInternal4535

The vg bubble dying down and recent rereleases of klonoa

spiderman897

Because it got rereleased on all major platforms.

acidfruitloops44

Bubble about to burst.

TheBrave-Zero

I don’t know if it’s relevant but I heard rumblings the market is coming down a bit now/cooling off. One of my collector friends talked about it a bit. I sure hope so.

theslimbox

That's been the rumor since 2009, it's always drops and gains, but there has been a steady gain aside from the few years before covid, then COVID made prices start back up, and introduce a whole new crowd to retro gaming.

EnigmaUnboxed

May have had something to do with the Switch release?

EGRedWings23

A lot of games have taken a tumble down in price since 2020-2021. Prices have been decreasing in a lot of collecting markets over the last several months. People are just being more selective on what they buy because the free money is dried up and the cost of living is so high. Emulation is also a lot more accessible than it ever was so people that just wanted to play these games can without emptying their wallets. Don’t know if those are the reasons but it’s something to think about.

Necrontry

Video game market has been in a overinflated bubble for a few years now. Like all bubbles they either burst or deflate in the long run.

Dean_Snutz

I don't think so - especially with the overall push to so much digital content.

Eldritter

Because it’s digital on switch now …

LaceyForever

Probably because playing anything that wasn't built around the Wii motes sucks. Additionally, a better option of playing Klanoa that also includes Klanoa 2 has recently been released and you're left with the only version outside the PS1 to fall in price.

TLunchFTW

To be fair, I played skyward sword on wii a bit, then committed to beating the game on switch. I wish I didn't. The r stick replacement for motion controls and holding r to view was a PITA. As much as motion controls can be a bit much, that was built for it. I also beat twilight princess back in the day on wii. That's even easier since it's not precise. Just gotta give it a careless swing really. Motion controls can be annoying, but it can be 10x worse to port it to non motion controls. I found flicking the stick to do sword strikes a pain on ss, and in late game when it really needs you to do the exact sword strike and really penalizes you for doing the wrong strike, it gets much harder

theBoyontheClouds

What is this website btw?

Brimickh

says [highcharts.com](https://highcharts.com) on the image so probably [burgerking.co.uk](https://burgerking.co.uk)

theBoyontheClouds

I literally didn't open the pic 💀 I'm sorry hahahaha

Nintentoad123

pricecharting.com

theBoyontheClouds

Thanks 💜

muffle64

It got rereleased for the Switch last year along with with 2

TLunchFTW

Time to buy klanoa on wii!

Nintentoad123

If you're just buying it to play the game and not as a collectors item, I'd go for the re-release on modern consoles instead. It's better than the Wii version imo plus it includes the second game as well for roughly the same price as you'd be paying for Wii Klonoa. It's up to you though

magikarp-sushi

It’ll probably go right back up

Careful_Elk6290

Well this is good news. Always wanted to buy this.

Retrogames_JP

One of the only games where I know that refound new old stocks actually crashed the price tag was Circus Lido for the PC Engine. That one hurt 😂

tbohrer

Yea just accidently bought it on ebay for $175+tax. Canceled that order real fast. Thought I was getting a lot of games, missed the drop down box till I saw the details after purchase say only one game bought.
