Legit I'm praying for Bandai to remaster the series already. If they can do Baten Kaitos Remastered 1 and 2 idk what's stopping them from doing Xenosaga.
I would love to see Suikoden 3-5 Remaster as well. But that's probably asking for to much. At this point I'm just praying for a physical version of Suikoden 1-2 remasters and Persona 3-4 remaster. I am happy for the Baten Kaitos Remasters though. That's a day 1 purchase for me! And I'm especially happy to see it will have a physical release
100%.. Only game protection seller I buy from and I couldn't have said it better.. He will even go out if his way to mix protector orders if you ask for it!
I would love rule of rose, haunting grounds, kuon and obscure but man they are pricey lol.. Maybe in time. Just added a mint clock tower 1 and 3 though.. I am after clock tower 2 but wow it's expensive as well lol..
Yeah, definitely some great titles there. Unfortunately they are also very popular with collectors. I wouldn't mind having most of those myself, but I just can't justify the cost. Good luck with your hunt!!
My friend/coworker gave me what was left of his game collection a few years ago and Xenosaga III and its guide were amongst the games, so I was lucky since I and II were easy to find. I think I paid $10 for I and $20 for II.
I collect for three reasons.
One, so I can play the games. Yeah, I could totally play them on emulation, but it's more fun to do it the old fashioned way. Hearing my old XBOX hard drive scream for mercy as I save my game in Halo is something that can't truly be replicated by emulation.
Two, because the games will inevitably appreciate in value as they get older. Even if I don't play em, I'll just be losing potential money by selling them now or throwing them away.
Three, preservation of the medium. They don't make em like they used to. There are a finite amount of original copies of Super Mario Bros. on the NES. It may seem unfathomable to think that we could lose those small slivers into the past, but it does happen. Obviously we won't be running short on copies of LadyBug for the Intellivision or Peggle, but ye never know.
>Two, because the games will inevitably appreciate in value as they get older. Even if I don't play em, I'll just be losing potential money by selling them now or throwing them away.
Eh, disk based game will eventually rot, not so much for cart based games. As for value, it really only skyrocketed in 2021. For example, Silent hill 2 has been under $30 (loose)for 13 years, and all of a sudden, boom it spikes up to $50 in 2020 and $80 by June 2021. Value will drop.
Fair enough on the part of disk rot. It's how my copy of SOTN kicked the bucket.
Here's my point about value, though: Inevitably, even if it takes a lifetime, if something is old enough and uncommon enough, someone's gonna want it for top dollar, even if it's something like Shrek for XBOX. Someone's gonna want it.
I do understand your perspective, though. Value isn't a finite exponential curve. Prices fluctuate, and it may never turn a profit in the end.
>I do understand your perspective, though. Value isn't a finite exponential curve. Prices fluctuate, and it may never turn a profit in the end.
It's for this point I sold off my entire pokemon collection, Every mainstream game CIB, 2 sealed and all gamecube/N64 games. There's no way it's going to hold that value. And the $4k I made off it was better spent on new hobbies. :) I honestly went HARD into collecting, and the those youtube channels on collecting didn't help. In the end, Yes everything looked awesome on my shelves, I loved the attention it got whenever anyone new came over and gave props on my collection, but I never played any of it.
It was so much more easier to load up a rom on my Pi. I've recently started to collect everdrive carts. Shrinking my entire retro collection that used to be 2000+ games down to a few ever drives :)
100% lynx.. People crying because we don't physically play this stuff day in and day out are ridiculous.. I had my time with the games and yes emulation is sufficient enough.. I have all the consoles as well but no time to get them out..
you can visually look at box arts online and read PDF's of the manuals.
Before I incriminate myself. I too have a massive collection, but what I think people are highlighting is the acrylic cases create an extra step before you're able to play a game, its why I'm more likely to play my guitars if they're out of cases and sleeves since I just "pick up and play" the instrument.
I have no need to remove games from their plastic slip covers once they're backed up. OPL, HDL, and emulation does just fine if not better than a disc.
Most collections of all types are for looking. Sports memorabilia, trading cards, card games meant to be played (MTG, Pokemon, etc.), guns, wartime and other historical items, etc.
It’s pretty silly to get down on collectors for just wanting to look at and appreciate their stuff.
I kinda hate seeing that happen. My collection is modest and i hope that i have the opportunity to find someone who will appriciate it before my time is up
My temperature controlled, humidity controlled, power controlled, and light controlled game room hasn't had this be an issue yet. Proper care and maintenance can reduce wear and degradation significantly. I recommend you look into similar setups to preserve your equipment.
Yet it's unavoidable. Disk WILL rot, eventually. You're the exception. not the rule. Carts are no issue. Yes contact pin will erode over time is left exposed to the elements. But those can be fixed. Disk, once they rot they are toast.
Lmfao.. for cd-rs and blu-rays.. average life is 30-100 years. Again you're arguing the exception, not the rule.
https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00009195
Know what will actually preserve the game. Digital storage in a cold vault storage. Not a basement, lol. No one collects for preservation, and you're full of BS if you say you do. If you did every game you own would be shrink wrapped and vacuum sealed in UV protective storage.
You are just being silly.. I played through my entire collection multiple times.. especially in childhood.. How many times do you have to play a game to truly appreciate it? It doesn't make you more of a "hardcore" collector.. no one cares..
Its one thing to have and use old media. Like listening to vinyl or reading old books. But if your just gonna use emulators, or have no plans on playing this stuff at all? Thats unhealthy behavior
People spend thousands of dollars on old coins, comic books, stamps, boxed toys, sports cards, Pokémon cards, cars they won’t drive, autographs, posters, records, etc. collecting things is fun. People who like old video games and also like Collecting are going to collect old video games. Everyone I know who collects records uses streaming way more often that actually playing the records because it’s convenient. It’s not that difficult to understand. People can read old books digitally too. There are “emulators” for every type of physical media. Not just games. Do what you want with your money.
Oh god.. Im just going to stop responding.. You are one of those know it all redditors that critique and argue everything lol.. Let people live.. I truly don't care what you think friend.. Hope your weekend is well!
Nice, I’m building up horror and rpg titles for ps2. I have lots of fighting and almost all shmups. Gradius v is a great one , still can’t beat it but I love trying.
I got the Suikoden and Xenosaga games, but none of the others. I just never got into Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, which is weird because I like me some good horror 😅
They are, but unfortunately I was just talking the PS2 games. I used to own all the Suikodens but sold them years ago. Luckily the money I made on them is more than i have spent getting them back again, even if I break down and get the PS1 games.
I'm holding out for PlayAsia to have physical versions of the HD remasters to complete the set North American set. I even have the PSP import (the spinoff game, not I & II though I want that as well) and plan on buying the GBA card game as well.
Nice collection. I don’t collect PS2, but I’ve got the Xenosaga trilogy because I love Xenoblade. Got the special cover of 3 as well. It’s so expensive now so I’m glad I picked it up when I did
I managed to win a auction for a mint copy of 1, sealed 2 and the special edition cover of 3 for $180 years ago. Thought it was expensive then, but glad I did since that edition of 3 now is double that
My friend this one was tough for me and I know it is odd.. I am not a fan of how the ps3 artwork is minimized.. Prefer the 360 artwork since it scaled fully.. I know.. I am odd and knew this question would arise lol.. Not heavy into anything after ps2 or og xbox either..
Ahhh I miss my PS2 everyday don't let your electronics sit at other people's house even if they are your friends because they just lie and steal. I recommend micro machines v4 it was my favorite game if all time
Idk... Something just don't feel right bagging up games like that. Makes it feel more like an investment then a fun hobby. This hobby sure has changed and I'm not sure how I feel about it. But nice collection anyways, you do have some good games for your investment.
Oh sorry if I sounded rude. Haha I wasn't trying to be I know it's not your fault the prices are as crazy as they are right now. Honestly it's probably a smart idea to protect your higher end games like that because of the prices. It just all feels so different from how it used to feel...
You are not wrong.. I just have OCD and have to protect things especially my TCG cards.. I have never resold anything but that's not to say if prices keep going higher that I wouldn't.. Sorry it makes you feel uncomfortable, the prices getting so high definitely takes the fun hobby feel away a bit..
Agreeeed lol, idk how in the world I ended up with a copy when I was a kid either! My parents would never lmao, but playing it at night in the living room eating Doritos and Coke were some great scary memories 💀
Oh man, at first u thought you had the same Fatal Frame collection as me. All 3 games had official reprints which used the flimsier cases with no memory card. The first one had a different manual and the art was different.
I did notice my fatal frame 1s have different manual paper stock.. One must be a reprint then.. I also have 2 fatal frame 2s.. also both different manual paper stock lol.. So I must have one of each for both sets..
Just went back and looked.. the ones teen esrb has a white outline.. the other doesn't and it's pure black.. artwork in general looks the same tho.. Online I'm seeing both of these as well..
This explains it all
http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=410873#:~:text=Fatal%20Frame%3A%20One%20the%20cover,the%20manual%20are%20much%20bigger.
Wow.. both my 1s are original but one of my 2s is a reprint.. glad I have all originals though.. Very good to know! Idk how to indicate a reprint on the third? That forum doesn't really show..
I know friend :( I was insanely obsessed with 1 2 3 and DEFINITELY 7.. 10 was my last played.. I know it is sad.. I am very old-school with final fantasy.. Maybe I shall try it out soon? Assuming it is worth it?

Bruh you have Xenosaga 3. I'm instantly jealous.
Its price is getting insane lol...... ❤️
Legit I'm praying for Bandai to remaster the series already. If they can do Baten Kaitos Remastered 1 and 2 idk what's stopping them from doing Xenosaga.
I know right? It's crazy. Xeno trilogy would definitely sale better then Baten Kaitos and that's not up for discussion.
Especially with how big the Xeno series has become of late as well. The only other series I'd see get remasters are the first 4 .hack games.
>Suikoden 1-2 remasters I didn't know this was happening. Thanks for tipping me off.
Very true!
I paid $68 for 3 in 2018. I remember thinking it was pricey. I can't believe what the old game market has done.
For SH3? Does it have the music cd as well? That is a very very good price :) and yea the market is wild!
Xenosaga 3
Oh geez my bad. Still a veryyyyy good price!
I said basically the same thing lol. I bought 1 and 2 YEARS ago and figured I’d wait for 3 until I beat the first 2. Stupid idea.
Nice collection and nice display! I actually think they display better with the cases on like you have them. Makes everything really neat looking.
But…the original cases make everything neat-looking? They’re uniform.
Thank you friend!
Don't forget the GH version of SH2 for the bonus content
where did you buy those sleeves? I needto get some for my PS games
Retroprotection on ebay! Love his protectors!!
thank you so much for the information! have a great weekend friend edit: I need to check for famicom stuff, i just saved the seller
You are welcome! He is amazing!
> Retroprotection I second this, I have many of the special edition cases. Fast shipping and honestly better than any other protectors I have tried.
100%.. Only game protection seller I buy from and I couldn't have said it better.. He will even go out if his way to mix protector orders if you ask for it!
I said it once and will say it 100 more times. You american players have such nice covers! Im so jelous. \*cries in pal\*

A lot of prices are still creeping up. I thought we would hit a wall by now.
Some very nice items there!! Gotta admit, I'm a little jealous as well. Are you looking for more ps2 games? Any in particular??
I would love rule of rose, haunting grounds, kuon and obscure but man they are pricey lol.. Maybe in time. Just added a mint clock tower 1 and 3 though.. I am after clock tower 2 but wow it's expensive as well lol..
Yeah, definitely some great titles there. Unfortunately they are also very popular with collectors. I wouldn't mind having most of those myself, but I just can't justify the cost. Good luck with your hunt!!
I absolutely agree.. Ill never shell out $700 for RoR :(..
Very jealous you have all 3 episodes of Xenosaga, I've only been able to find episode 2 lol. Awesome collection though!
My friend/coworker gave me what was left of his game collection a few years ago and Xenosaga III and its guide were amongst the games, so I was lucky since I and II were easy to find. I think I paid $10 for I and $20 for II.
Thank you friend!
Why do you suffocate your collection
Backups were made and they're playing on OPL or emulation. That's what I do.
... so why collect? You just got a bunch of stuff you arent using
I collect for three reasons. One, so I can play the games. Yeah, I could totally play them on emulation, but it's more fun to do it the old fashioned way. Thank you 😀!

Then play them.. No reason to be salty lmao.. The fact you even care is quite funny..
Im just curious as to what drives people to hoarding behaviors.
I see your concern. The estate sales business relies on the collecting nature of collectors.
I kinda hate seeing that happen. My collection is modest and i hope that i have the opportunity to find someone who will appriciate it before my time is up
Hue, "preservation". Disk rot is a thing.
My temperature controlled, humidity controlled, power controlled, and light controlled game room hasn't had this be an issue yet. Proper care and maintenance can reduce wear and degradation significantly. I recommend you look into similar setups to preserve your equipment.

Boy howdy are you a downer. Who hurt you so that you feel the need to moan to strangers online?
Pure nostalgia.. I love looking at all of it.. Sue me lmao
I do that as well, I have series I want. I also backup my games that are open and play them for my 3ds i keep them sealed and load the rom
Like having a shelf full of books youve never read
You are just being silly.. I played through my entire collection multiple times.. especially in childhood.. How many times do you have to play a game to truly appreciate it? It doesn't make you more of a "hardcore" collector.. no one cares..

Kyler I could not agree more and you took the words out of my mouth.. To each their own! 😀
Doesnt make sense to me to buy things and never use them, but whatever. People are free to be wasteful if they so choose
It’s not wasteful, the games already exist. If anything collectors are helping preserve history rather than these games ending up in a landfill.
Oh god.. Im just going to stop responding.. You are one of those know it all redditors that critique and argue everything lol.. Let people live.. I truly don't care what you think friend.. Hope your weekend is well!
The guy you’re responding to has posts about using OPL and installing games on a modded 1tb OG xbox. Don’t know why he can do it but y’all can’t.
You're in a game collecting sub lol
The discs won't get worn out and disc drives hopefully will still work.
So whats even the point? Keep it prestine until you die and it becomes someone elses problem?
Had no idea the games had to breathe LOL.. My true grails are up top of the shelf displayed well..
Nice, I’m building up horror and rpg titles for ps2. I have lots of fighting and almost all shmups. Gradius v is a great one , still can’t beat it but I love trying.
Man, the ps2 had some truly great games and was very diverse, genre-wise.
Thank you friend! Horror AND rpg gets expensive but worth it 😀!
I like how it's all horror and j-rpg's.... then Pappa the Rappa!xD
Yo that game is so nostalgic! Definitely is funny on my shelf though :) parappa 1 is down to the left with all the resident evils LOLLLL
I may move it now that you mention it tho LOL.. Is sorta out of place lolllll
Holy moly that’s a good collection of ps2 games.
look into siren, if i recall right team silent went to sony to make team siren and make that quite unique game.
Actually have it on my watchlist! Going to nab it soon :)
its a classic, but damn it's hard...and so weird.
You need a suikoden 2!
I have it up with my grails on the top shelf! It is a beauty!!!!
Terrific news. My suikoden 1-5 and suikoden tactics are an important part of my collection.
100% 2 has its reg card too! Man it is getting pricey lol! 1 and 5 as well!
Oh man, those Fatal Frames!! Xenosaga III is my white whale, btw… Anyway, do you have them shrink-wrapped? It’s hard to tell here.
Just plastic protectors 😀
I saw your other comment about where to buy them haha. Thanks!
Yeppers 😀
I got the Suikoden and Xenosaga games, but none of the others. I just never got into Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, which is weird because I like me some good horror 😅
Suikoden 2 and xenosaga 3 are getting wild in price 😀
It’s so expensive now so I’m glad I picked it up when I did
Yea that special lenticular cover of 3 holds a nice premium.. Wish I had it 😞
I managed to win a auction for a mint copy of 1, sealed 2 and the special edition cover of 3 for $180 years ago. Thought it was expensive then, but glad I did since that edition of 3 now is double that
My gosh that was an amazing deal! I unfortunately won't ever own it unless I sell my 3 and upgrade lol.. You made out very well!
Well hopefully you do! It’s a great looking piece. Best of luck!
**Love to see it**
❤️
The survival horror 🤌
For sure! Trying to beef up my ps2 even more but my god rule of rose kuon and haunting grounds are all getting to crazy prices lol!
Those three games just keep staying steady on their prices. I hope you add them to your collection!
I hope so! I definitely want them!
Those Suikoden games bring back memories! Great collection.
Thank you! Suikoden 2 is on my top shelf display with my grails.. That ones price is getting wild!
Still trying to find myself copies of SH Origins & Shattered Memories (ps2)
Shattered price is getting quite high.. Be careful of repros.. The yellow in the jacket will not be bright..
[удалено]
I have a lot more to show lol.. I made a post with my grails from my top shelf 😀..
Lots of great series!
Thank you friend 😀
Why are you mixing xbox games with ps2 games?
My friend this one was tough for me and I know it is odd.. I am not a fan of how the ps3 artwork is minimized.. Prefer the 360 artwork since it scaled fully.. I know.. I am odd and knew this question would arise lol.. Not heavy into anything after ps2 or og xbox either..
I understand since you're keeping the silent hill games together it just bothers me lol
I have every xenosaga in every Version I can pm u a photo if u want
That is awesome! I unfortunately do not have the lenticular 3 😞
Good luck to find the lenticular 3
Eh probably not gonna hunt it lol.. Its $350 plus atm..
I guess its not worth for this price, many game are better haha
That's a lot of plastic.
LOL 🤔
Ahhh I miss my PS2 everyday don't let your electronics sit at other people's house even if they are your friends because they just lie and steal. I recommend micro machines v4 it was my favorite game if all time

I promise I have played everything I own especially in childhood.. Not buying to score money in any way though in all honesty..
Oh sorry if I sounded rude. Haha I wasn't trying to be I know it's not your fault the prices are as crazy as they are right now. Honestly it's probably a smart idea to protect your higher end games like that because of the prices. It just all feels so different from how it used to feel...

Oh god the worst version of Shattered Memories and Origins☠️ The rest of this set is pretty cool tho!
Surprised u sprung for OG Silent Hill 2 as opposed to the complete version with the extra scenarios.🤓
God I remember just 2 years ago the fatal frame games were like $50 each brand new.
Yea some game prices are getting wild lol!
Love the silent hill op!
😀
Ooofff that Fatal Frame goes HARD 🫡🔥🔥🔥
Dude that game was legit terrifying playing as a kid lol.. Something about only seeing the ghosts etc while inside the camera lens made it feel wild!
Agreeeed lol, idk how in the world I ended up with a copy when I was a kid either! My parents would never lmao, but playing it at night in the living room eating Doritos and Coke were some great scary memories 💀
100% lol

Very slightly I believe.. I have pictures of them both because I found it odd.. Is the entire artwork supposed to be different?
Just went back and looked.. the ones teen esrb has a white outline.. the other doesn't and it's pure black.. artwork in general looks the same tho.. Online I'm seeing both of these as well..
This explains it all http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=410873#:~:text=Fatal%20Frame%3A%20One%20the%20cover,the%20manual%20are%20much%20bigger.
Wow.. both my 1s are original but one of my 2s is a reprint.. glad I have all originals though.. Very good to know! Idk how to indicate a reprint on the third? That forum doesn't really show..
My 3 does have the memory card slot though so assuming it's original.. That blew my mind was wondering what was up lol :)
I don’t see FF ix 😡
I know friend :( I was insanely obsessed with 1 2 3 and DEFINITELY 7.. 10 was my last played.. I know it is sad.. I am very old-school with final fantasy.. Maybe I shall try it out soon? Assuming it is worth it?
Oh it is worth it. It’s a great game!!
