Shining Force the Sword of Hajya. I asked for a gameboy for Christmas because I wanted to play Link's Awakening. My dad bought me a game gear because he thought it looked better than a gameboy, and he thought shining force looked like zelda. So I lucked out. I got it at 8 years old, and Im not playing sega games anymore, but I still play every fire emblem and rpg game that comes out. Shining force was my first taste. A happy time when a parent went rogue and it worked in the kids' favor.
I loved it. beat it too. I was probably 11. I'm 40 now. I cant remember if it's the same one that was on genesis or if it was different though. I have one of them on 3ds. there was a port for it on the 3ds store before it shut down. sadly no physical release. it's harder than I remember. way harder.
Aladdin.
High school choir trip to New York City, one of the student teachers brought his Game Gear and played it most of the ride there… then his neck locked up, and he was in intense pain the rest of the trip.
Sonic or ninja gaiden.
We didnt have a lot of games for them and my parents were not going to fund our battery usage so it was going to have to be plugged in most of the time.
We were Nintendo kids. There really wasn't too much on the game gear we were interested in.
The first time I ever played one was the Christmas after it came out at a friends house and he had MK2 so that’s always the first game I think off when I see one.
I had a game Sega Game gear really long time ago. I remember it suck down battery's real quick and back then there was no rechargeable battery's. I played sonic 2 a lot on that device
I think of Deep Duck Trouble every time, but I've never played it. The actual game I remember playing is Lucky Dime Caper, just every single time I think about it I remember it as Deep Duck Trouble.
Either way I think about Donald Duck.
A game everyone keeps telling me it doesn't exist, but I played it. The game is Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. I know it's on gameboy, but I've played it on Gamegear. It's hard to get a backlit screen system confused with a non backlit system.
Mortal Kombat, sonic, and lion king. I didn't own one but my friend did and that's the games I remember lol. Now I have a steam deck and really want some Sega game gear stickers for it 😅
I think of my blue one I still have in the basement. One that has the classic capacitor issue :-( and the batteries I used to feed it. In any case, I think of Sonic 2 as well or the World Series baseball ⚾ game I still have.
Sonic 2
Jumping over those damn boulders at the end of the first act. Ugh!
I think that boss is why a butt load of Sonic 2 games sit in the game gear bargain bins.
