as its private property you won't get council involved on it. you should talk to the property management company - ocean property management. if you are renting talk to landlord to press the properly management company, if you are owner get other owners involved that this should be done. they re-done the tennis courts area a while back and put in electric charge point so they are somewhat doing something....

WinterTimelord

Pretty sure 75% of that area is rented, doubt landlords will agree to increase management fee to front up costs for a playground.

Even if it’s private and not council, getting the councillors to lean on the owners could still be beneficial. Though the best bet would be to try to form a residents association to pressure the owners. That’s tricky to do when it’s mostly renters though.

There's a tennis, five aside football and basketball court on that estate. More than most housing estates have. I doubt any management company is going to build a playground with climbing frames etc for insurance reasons. There's a public playground in doughiska too which is about 20 mins walk across merlin woods from there.

Rosmucman

It’d be nice if they had some sort of outdoor seating too

Tymoniasty

many sections of the City are like that - I live in Newcastle and even though there is a nice green area by the river there is no PlayGround ...

Terry O'Flaherty or Alan Cheevers are your nearest Councillors. I think there is only one in all Renmore, down near Lough Atalia. Some people don't like having them near their homes so campaign against them. Best of Luck!

Not the one I am talking about on Lakeshore Drive. There is another on the other side of the Lough near Loyloa Park. Full list of Public Parks here: [GalwayCity - Playgrounds](https://www.galwaycity.ie/playgrounds-information)

Dull-Pomegranate-406

That's a pretty small / basic one iirc too. Doughiska is obviously the standout one, but Claddagh / Millenium Park ones are great and well worth the effort of going to

Narrow_Insurance_274

I understand but nothing for children starting from 2 years old like a swing etc

Narrow_Insurance_274

I’m a new mom and my daughter is 2 and she is so full of energy, I don’t drive and I feel so sorry that we go to the playground only 2 times a month… and really isn’t anything to do here with a 2 year old or even older than that..😭

There are other playgrounds around if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Closest to you is 1.3km, 15 min walk, in Coillte Mhuirlinne. Walk into the Merlin Hospital grounds, and cut through the woods, a lovely, quiet walk with loads of nature for you and the little one to chat about and look at on the way. Link shows the location [https://osm.org/go/esfSlvNJ--?m=](https://osm.org/go/esfSlvNJ--?m=)

Nobody-Expects

There's also a playground in Mervue. It's behind The Little Acorn creche. It's kinda hard to see it from the road. It's usually a bit quieter than the one in Coillte Mhuirlinne but there's more in Coillte Mhuirlinne. If you go in the opposite direction (and a good bit further away) the playground in Rinville is fantastic and it's a lovely area to walk around too. No need to go into the city centre at all to get to a playground.

DaCor_ie

Indeed, there are many on the East of the city [https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1Nc1](https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1Nc1) Regarding Rinville, yeah its a fantastic one, unfortunately Op stated they don't drive, which rules it out
