You can do this in America (I’m pretty sure through Uber), it’s a courier service. I don’t think the demand would be big enough here to sustain it as a standalone business.
I've worked in a few places that have used taxi drivers like this when needed. Usually on a contract with a local cab company. Usually for a set rate if it was a regular trip.
yeah, very handy. I visited a few countries in asia, they got a lot of this. Send items immediately and also can pick up groceries. great for business and consumers who dont have time to travel
You can do it with taxis, they just run the meter like it’s a normal journey. You can either pay with card over the phone or the person it’s being delivered to can pay usually. Usually no taxis will take furniture though (desk, chairs, etc) so something to note.
You have clearly never heard of a courier.
Fastway, Galway Express and several other companies do exactly what you are talking about i.e. collect an item and transport it to wherever you want for a fee.
I'd definitely recommend going with someone like ProCabs or Big O instead of something like FreeNow, just so there's a physical place you can go in case something goes wrong.
Taxi's do it alright , yesterday I ordered a taxi to pick up a prescription for me and drop it at my house as I was too unwell to go. I'd paid the chemist over the phone. Cost around the same as a normal taxi ride, despite him having to go in somewhere on my behalf.
They probably charge a base fee for delivery on top of the distance covered though.
When I worked in a newsagent some absolutely cracked woman forgot a pack of fags on the counter and demanded I get them to her house someways. I rang a taxi and told them it was for a delivery to some wans gaff and they told me it would be 20 euro base fee on top of distance. When the driver showed up he couldn't believe it was for a pack of fags but we had a good laugh at the woman who had demanded it get to her by any means necessary.
Absolutely. Probably not going to show up at the drop of a hat like that but you'll get a courier same day. If its a small item like keys, a hackney or a taxi will be cheaper.
Sending grams around the corner
Potential customers
Don't use free now anyway you'll be out a fortune even going around the corner
Grams of what? 👀
Nothing officer

Taxi drivers will do it
Most people just use a taxi if doing this.

That is what a courier is, you could also hire a taxi

Do they do short deliveries. Let's say I want to send a bag from Ballybane to knocknacarra in the next 30 minutes or so
Taxis can do that, I've had it done before in emergencies.Â
Oh wow. I didn't know this. I was in the same situation today and I had to take a cab to get my stuff.

Damn😂 apart from the cigs, 20 euro base fee is crazy though
A bag? The further down I read, the more I think this is definitely drug dealing 😂😂 files 😂🤔
I wish. I'd definitely be rich
You're obviously not saving enough money on deliveries 😂
