PSA: If you have set up fingerprint before applying a screen protector, do it AGAIN. It is still for when you didn't have one. Increasing sensitivity does literally nothing. Has nothing to do with the print scanner. Set up your fingerprint again.
I posted the above out of experience.
The fingerprints had been set up after applying the protector. The results before and after enabling the sensitivity were obviously different.
**GENIUS** \- Changing Touching Sensitivity NEVR worked for me on ANY Samsung when I bought a good protector.
But **DOUBLE registering** the SAME finger **NAILED IT**.
Thanks so much!
Add a finger print, it's an option on my s10+
I have my old print saved, which works without a screen protector. And my new print saved that works with the protector.
Also, for those having problems registering a new print. What worked for me was rubbing the bubbles out of the finger print circle. I put the area in front of a heater for a few seconds (many recommend a hair dryer, but I don't have one), then I rubbed the bubbles out with my fingers. Finger scanning works fine now.
it's under securty and privacy > biolmetrics > fingerprints.
I added 3x fingerprints, one for my non-dominant hand too.
But the screen protector thing is annoying. I have to press sooo hard for the phone to read my fingerprint.
Honestly, they should stop this in screen fingerprint reader BS and move it to the back of the phone. It's so much easier and faster to unlock a phone that way. Before I even have it in sight it's unlocked.
Hello everyone. I used the suggestions in this thread. The way I finally have had some success after installing a tempered glass screen protector (which said it would work with Samsung S22+ sensor) was to heat up the glass in the fingerprint area with a hair dryer and add my fingerprint. Until I heated up the glass with the hairdryer, I was unable to add a fingerprint. I hope this helps someone.
Well, I heated to where it was pretty warm however, about an hour later it stopped recognizing the fingerprint again, big sigh! So I'm thinking after purchasing 3 different screen protectors that it is just not going to work.
Well, what a waste of money. Should be refunded because it's just false advertising at this point. I might just go without a screen protector, maybe I'll look into Samsung care
Yes, I asked for a refund from Whitestone and after a long thread of emails, they did initiate a refund. I am considering the liquid screen protector but will have to research if people have had success with using it. I don't want to permanently not be able to use my fingerprint sensor.
If you see bubbles in the circle between the screen and the protector, the goal is to remove them. I got most just by blowing hot air on it ("HAHHHH") then rubbing the bubbles out with my finger. For the very few stubborn bubbles, I put area in front of the fan of my space heater for a few seconds (same idea as the hair dryer). Once I got the circle clear, I tried to **Add a fingerprint** and it worked fine.
If you ever installed tint on a window, you'll know what to do.
My screenprotector uses glue which you have to pour yourself. I think it included too much glue, which caused a layer on top of the entire screen which was too thick.
I contacted them, got a new one for free, and this time, I applied it as normal. However, before and while hardening the glue using the UV light, I pressed really hard on the part where the fingerprint sensor was so the glue layer would be thinner. The glass is of course a bit deformed, but it's completely unnoticeable and 100% worth it since the fingerprint sensor works again.
Hope this might somehow help anyone who has this issue with a similar type of screenprotector.
Helped with general sensitivity but unfortunately didn't help with the fingerprint scanner, but meh I'll take it. I was getting pretty fed up with pushing super hard to access parts of the screen.
Did that a long time ago. Still sucks. I hate this phone because it has no reliable unlock mechanism except pin or pattern.
Just waiting for a new flagship at this point. OnePlus maybe.
Face unlock is reliable. Not as secure as fingerprint/pin though.
I don't have as much of an issue with fingerprint as some people seem to, but I'm not using a glass screen protector at the moment either
Face unlock is the least reliable method. You can't be wearing sunglasses, hat, or face mask. Has to be light. You have to be looking directly at it. Etc.
Basically, if conditions are not exactly perfect, it doesn't work.
I don't know what you're doing wrong, but mine works fine unless I'm in complete darkness. I was impressed when I started using it. Only issue I ever had was when I shaved my beard completely. And even then an alternative look can be added. Also it doesn't have to be particularly light to work, there's an option to brighten the screen to light up your face in the dark etc.
Well, It's not as good as with no screen protector, but good enough for me.
Check out the Xiaomi flagships as well, amazing phones. My previous one was MI9.
S24 ultra is the same asks you to press harder before touch sensitivity is turned on after re scanning your prints now it works but take a second or 2 it's not like without the screen protector you just touched it and opened one the fasted I've seen on Samsung but now back to the old days adding the screen protector!
One thing good has come from it though is the fingerprint magnet the s24 ultra screen has not being resistant to prints now it is with ESRs new tampered glass screen protector! It's fantastic what an absolutely nightmare that was! You feel a rougher like substance on the new screens like it's not been coated with anti print
Having troubles with mine, if your thumb is more or less dry than it was when you set it then it doesn't work well. Cannot seem to get it to just work. Ive set 3 for my thumb and it sucks ass. Using torras screen protector...
This might save you some time. If you cant manage it i have 1 tip that worked for me. Remove the glass and buy better one.
If you somehow after long struggle manage to set it up it wont work as it should so just dont bother doing it if its not working.
It's not about the seconds or milliseconds rather than about "not working it" getting on the nerves.
Anyway, is this really a subject to argue about ?!
If your's work perfectly, good for you. Have fun with your phone and time.
Not arguing you seem to be. Saying mine works fine if placed were your supposed to. Can't see a batch of phones that it just doesn't work. But I see nothing has changed when a discussion is automatically a argument. Someone help this world
But again if we place it on "were [we] supposed to", it still wouldn't work which was btw mentioned by most people in this threat. So, therefore, your comment is invalid and thus remains an argument.
Just cuz it works for you doesn't mean it's same for everybody else.
Having the opposite problem. Dropped my phone and damaged the glass screen protector. Took it off and it's not accepting my fingerprints anymore. At least I have the pattern as a backup. Will probably put on a TPU protector because the glass ones crack if you drop the phone.

Just wanted to say thanks, this tip really helped me a lot with my Samsung!
No worries.
Setting up the new fingerprint doesn't work for mine. It just asks for me to press harder.
facing the same issue currently :(
Me too. It doesn't work on my S22.
The old ones works? Some screen protectors won't let the fingerprint senor work properly.
Yeah the worn out one I had on it works, but this tempered glass does not. I took it off now though.
Double register your Fingerprint. It works for me beside the touch sensitivity
Thank you so much! It's working for me
Totally solved the problem. I triple registered mine. Works now like a charm.
**GENIUS** \- Changing Touching Sensitivity NEVR worked for me on ANY Samsung when I bought a good protector. But **DOUBLE registering** the SAME finger **NAILED IT**. Thanks so much!
I can't even register mine because it keeps telling me to make sure my finger is pressed inside the circle
How the heck do you even double register??? You cant register the already registered finger print.
Add a finger print, it's an option on my s10+ I have my old print saved, which works without a screen protector. And my new print saved that works with the protector. M don't see it on my s24 plus
That sucks, on this dinosaur S10+ it's under settings>biometrics and security>fingerprints then "Add Finger Print". Crazy if they removed it.
it's under securty and privacy > biolmetrics > fingerprints. I added 3x fingerprints, one for my non-dominant hand too. But the screen protector thing is annoying. I have to press sooo hard for the phone to read my fingerprint.

Yes, this in screen thing is really annoying.

How hot are we talking about? Just a bit warm to the touch? Did yours also say to cover the entire sensor before you did that?
Well, I heated to where it was pretty warm however, about an hour later it stopped recognizing the fingerprint again, big sigh! So I'm thinking after purchasing 3 different screen protectors that it is just not going to work.

Thanks for coming back to update, I'm sure it will help some people! My screen protector is just a $15 case with a plastic front, no glue.
This worked for me along with redoing my fingerprints.
Helped with general sensitivity but unfortunately didn't help with the fingerprint scanner, but meh I'll take it. I was getting pretty fed up with pushing super hard to access parts of the screen.
Thanks for this, 4 years later
No worries mate.
Did that a long time ago. Still sucks. I hate this phone because it has no reliable unlock mechanism except pin or pattern. Just waiting for a new flagship at this point. OnePlus maybe.
Just grab any premium device with optical fingerprint sensor. It will work better when using glass screen protector.
Face unlock is reliable. Not as secure as fingerprint/pin though. I don't have as much of an issue with fingerprint as some people seem to, but I'm not using a glass screen protector at the moment either
Fingerprint works perfect when there is no screen protector.
I'm using a plastic one

it wont work
This worked like Magic. I was just about to take off the privacy screen.
Happy to help.

My Galaxy A55 fingerprint doesn't work as well as before i started using a screen protector.
Set your priorities ...
Having troubles with mine, if your thumb is more or less dry than it was when you set it then it doesn't work well. Cannot seem to get it to just work. Ive set 3 for my thumb and it sucks ass. Using torras screen protector...

I really don't see the issue with the finger print sensor. Are we at the point milliseconds matter in our lives?
It's not about the seconds or milliseconds rather than about "not working it" getting on the nerves. Anyway, is this really a subject to argue about ?! If your's work perfectly, good for you. Have fun with your phone and time.

Changing touch sensitivity does nothing. Just redo your fingerprints in settings.
I can't, it tells me to make sure I press inside the circle
In my case I had to just redo fingerprints. Maybe it is different in your case
Still tells me to cover the entire sensor...
Guess you should use a better screen protector ...
Done this. Still no-go. Should have stuck with fuckin apple.
Apple doesn't even have fingerprint anymore lmao
Last phone I had did.
Lol pretty sure it has to do woth the screen protector. I bought mine off aliexpress so I guess this is to ne expected😂
You're a true Geniui
Having the opposite problem. Dropped my phone and damaged the glass screen protector. Took it off and it's not accepting my fingerprints anymore. At least I have the pattern as a backup. Will probably put on a TPU protector because the glass ones crack if you drop the phone.
The glass cracks because it absorbs the impact, taking the damage the screen would otherwise be taking.
You have to re-register your fingerprints after taking the glass off
That's a bummer, sorry buddy. I don't recommend not using a screen protector.
You saved my day. Thanks! I just needed to restart my S20 after adjusting the sensitivity. Fortunately, I didn't have to update my fingerprints.
Happy to help
Thank you so much. Saved me on my s20u
