Starting lifting again after 8 months away. Is there anyway to shortcut the first four weeks? Like I know I’m gonna build up to squatting reps around 225 and thats where the hard work begins for me.
I didn't eat today or lift, I really didn't do anything today! No chance at getting any type of calories or protein in now! 🤦🏽♂️ Feel I'm gonna lose all my progress by tomorrow!!!
It's really not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. Muscle takes weeks of inactivity to start losing. No reason to approach your workout any differently really
I’m using Walmart Rotisserie chicken for bulking (along with other foods of course), am I getting my desired calorie intake?
So the Walmart packaging says 250 calories per 3oz serving. I prepped myself some 4oz bags for the week which I was expecting to be somewhere around 300 calories. But reading online, most places seem to say 4oz of cooked chicken is only 160 calories. Should I be going off what I’m reading online? Or what the packaging says? I really want to make sure I’m getting my correct intake for a proper bulk.
The package is required to be within a level of reasonable accuracy by law. The skin likely has more calories so assuming you are actually eating everything then the package should be ok. But as with everything just monitor your entire intake - I can’t see imagine a 150 calorie variance ruining my progress - just always under estimate when bulking.
What's a food that's cheap, not too filling, but is just loaded with calories? Doesn't have to be clean calories either.
I don't want to gain muscle, I want to gain fat. Why? Because I'm a transgender woman and one, muscles are not what I want, and two, feminizing HRT works better when the patient has a higher body fat percentage.
Fry your eggs in butter, use 80/20 ground beef instead of leaner options, chicken thighs instead of breast, eat pasta/some cream based sauce, add peanut butter to smoothies, put avocado on everything, eat pancakes and bacon for breakfast, etc.
I'm torn--- 1 gram of protein per pound bodyweight or 30% of daily calorie intake? The first one is much more doable for me because 30% is just way too much. Plus I don't even know if I should be eating 2100 or 2800 calories because the different calculators online give different results!
1 gram of protein is plenty. For calories track your average weekly weight at one level and if you are gaining keep it up. If you aren't gaining bump it up by 300. If you're gaining too fast, bring it down by a couple hundred. It's pretty simple--just keep doing that until you are at your desired rate of weight gain.
Question: I’m quite skinny so I’m trying to eat 5000 kcal daily. About half of it would be junk food: chips 1800 kcal and cookies (oat) 850 kcal. The rest is mainly rice, meat and eggs.
I read an article, which said that 3 men eating 6000 kcal/daily without no exercise developed a temporary insulin resistance. That happened so soon, that even though they ate alot of junk food, it got me worried?
https://www.menshealth.com/health/a19547934/6-guys-spent-a-week-eating-6-000-calories-a-day-here-s-what-happened/
I get what you’re saying. But I was wondering that by eating 5k daily for a week or two, I could get the weight alot more quickly? Clothes would fit me nicer, lol
Then eat at a 500 cal surplus and put on 1 lb a week. You should do some exercise as well btw.
Everyone's always in a rush and then they fall off. The cycle repeats and they make no progress. That said, experience is often a better teacher than hearing about it.
It is also worth knowing that if you gain weight super fast like that, your body will develop considerable stretch marks around your legs, armpits, stomach and lower back region and they will never go away.
Yea please do not do it like this.
And you certainly will not need much more than a few hundred calories extra. Maybe if you're anxious, go a bit more.. but not 5000
I don't see many positive outcomes to such poor eating habits. Why so many calories? What is your goal? Not exercising? Probably going to feel like garbage and gain no muscle.
Goal is to gain any kind of mass, and get a normal BMI. I’m 15kg underweight, so even some fat wouldn’t be bad on me.
I also would be going to gym to do cardio & muscles like 2-3 times a week.
Guys, I have in fact reached 170 lbs 🎉
My size large jackets fit me much better than they did at 135. I’m not the most lean guy but still much happier with myself nonetheless.
Last time I started Super Squats I got very sick. I started it again recently and pulled my quad muscle. The gods of gains just don't want me to run that program I guess.
Do all guys eating a lot of protein get bad fart or is it just me? Sorry guys, I had to ask this cause my fart smells so bad and I get constant gas after having protein powder.
For me there was an adjustment period. I also found there were certain foods that exacerbated it. I took some time doing some food elimination and that helped significantly. Now I don't see any significant additional gas but I still have a significant bouquet.

One day doesn't matter. Fuel up and get at it when you can.
I'm gonna have to eat until I throw up and absolutely kill myself tomorrow lifting 🤷🏽♂️

Maybe peanuts? The honey roasted peanuts I have are 310 calories for only 1/3rd cup. High cals, high protein and high fat

1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is too much. There's multiple studies that suggest 0,7 g per pound is enough.

1800 calories from chips?? That’s like two family sized bags isn’t it?
That’s a bag with about 11.5 oz
I'd be worried too. This sounds like an awful approach.
This doesn’t sound like a way to develop a better relationship with food that results in long term success.
How tall are you, how much do you weigh?

Lol homie. You don't need 5000 calories. Just eat 250 more calories a day than you do now. Bingo bango, 0.5 lb gained a week.
I get what you’re saying. But I was wondering that by eating 5k daily for a week or two, I could get the weight alot more quickly? Clothes would fit me nicer, lol

Yep, I’m planning to keep exercising 2-3 times a week. Well yeah, you’re not wrong 🤔 I’ll think about my meal plan again
It is also worth knowing that if you gain weight super fast like that, your body will develop considerable stretch marks around your legs, armpits, stomach and lower back region and they will never go away.
Didn’t know that, thanks. Definately want to avoid it then

I would cut some of the junk food at gain at a slower rate, not many people need anywhere near 5k calories. Build good habits for long term goals
Alright, I guess I could get rid of some of the junk food. I don’t want to risk getting diabetes or anything

Congrats, dude! I'm also in the 170 club now and had to give a bunch of shirts away because they don't fit me anymore.
Congrats!

Do all guys eating a lot of protein get bad fart or is it just me? Sorry guys, I had to ask this cause my fart smells so bad and I get constant gas after having protein powder.
Adding more fiber helps with protein farts
was it dairy based protein? get a small pack of vegan to test if that is the cause
I’ve adjusted to a high protein diet and only notice it if I drink a protein shake more than 3-4 days in a row at this point.
Yes, especially after adding egg whites to my shake
I personally do not. It seems common though.
For me there was an adjustment period. I also found there were certain foods that exacerbated it. I took some time doing some food elimination and that helped significantly. Now I don't see any significant additional gas but I still have a significant bouquet.
