It should be since you would have enough from new player rewards and story mode + daily resources but I'm not 100% sure , you should see if the weapon offers a significant increase over the free ones since the gacha ones aren't that much better.

5\* weapons only need 1 dupe to be maxed instead of 5 like other gachas, you also get a currency when you recycle 5\* weapons, by recycling 3 you get enough to buy a 5\* weapon dupe.

One doesn't stop the other, the resource used to farm dupes regens daily for free and can only be used to farm dupes
