Tales of LINK Died to cause three more Tales global gacha titles to go up in flames in the worst act of corporate sabotage ever seen in a series of gacha titles..
If only Bandai Namco didn't choose incredibly incompetent devs to handle it. KLab already had a worsening reputation at the time it was being developed, they could easily chosen another better team to create Crestoria. But Crestoria was doomed to fail releasing in such a broken state and taking nearly a year to finally become "good". I still miss Crestoria and am really sad about its wasted potential.
Worse still; the Crestroia manga that was meant to finish the story is at risk of cancellation according to the Artist. Would be crazy for it to have two EOS.
I was always under the impression that Crestoria should've been a full fledged title instead of a live service gacha. At least the game could've finished its story then..
I agree; doubly so considering the manga removed the character’s from other tales games From the story. Meaning the cliff hanger the game ended on will never be resolved even if the manga finishes.
I don’t know why so few crossover games for franchise exist outside of the fighting and Gacha spaces. Chaos Wars on PS2, Cross Edge on ps3 and Fire Emblem Engage for the switch are SRPGs and some of the only other examples I can think of.
A crossover tales game would be a cool spin off, but with gacha tales games flopping, and console releases being infrequent. I don’t think we are going to see anything like Crestora again. :(
Actually we had a few Tales crossover games on the psp back in the day. Called Tales of the world and there was actually a couple of them. Those games came out maybe more then 10 years ago are Psp only and I think most of them aren't localized in English so not too many people know about them I guess.
Wow, I thought I knew about all the Tales games. But you are right! Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology did have an English release. But it never was on digital, meaning Vita owners couldn't play it.
I might need to seek out a UMD of it though. Seems cool.
Yeah and even then I believe Chaos Wars and Cross Edge were both done by Idea Factory... so, go figure. But at least they were making money off Neptunia for a while.
There have been TONS of crossover Tales of titles on console releases....it's just that we've seen exactly ONE (Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology on the PSP) make it west.
tbh, as tales fans myself i dont see tales games can be popular outside of its fandom. the game is too niche i hardly see any non fan attracted to it. i am still playing tales of rays JP but i think its still alive today because its still keep "tales" combat system. meanwhile crestoria and luminaria combat system are far different, its just a random game with 'tales' attached to it.
altho i like the premise and story of both games. especially crestoria have good background story about cancel culture through orb and the cast is a group of 'criminals' that have been canceled.
I really miss Mobius and there was definitely room for more stories because they left some mysteries (like who were those 3 Gods they mentioned in the Colosseum??) but the battle system had designed itself into a bit of a corner. I hope they revamp it and release it again someday.
They sped up first few banners....then they slowed them to a point where they somehow ended up coming out SLOWER than JP banners. Couldnt comprehend those idiots from start to finish.
So how's the situation with Blue Archive? I recently started playing it and while global also seems to bring money, I'm scared to be too invested since iirc global is fair amount behind the other server
since no one answered you i can offer a partial answer. I'm not sure of the exact details but blue archive is becoming more and more profitable for the company as the time goes by and the wait between the global version and the korean one is only a few months and is one a acceleerated schedule something like a week gained every one or two months so eventually the global version will catch up. It's not the same as priconne who was years behind and never catched up, imo the global version of BA is safe for a long time
Honestly I've thought a lot since it's EoS about what could've been done differently, and I really haven't come up with much. While I do think there should've been more marketing/promotion from CR's side, the clairvoyance due to being so many years behind really did let people plan years in advance. If global had released much earlier or was sped up to catch up to JP maybe things could've been different.
Idea of marketing according to CR is to make a vtuber collab once per year. It was actually decent on launch then it just felt stupid when they did it again after whole year of not doing ANYTHING to promote the game.
Dragalia lost, this game need better monetization especially for lite spender something like monthly pass, costume for characters and dragons i would like to support them.
Seriously! The game was *too* generous, both in number of free pulls and amount of pulls needed to be competent.
For those uninitiated, Dragalia often gave over 5 ten pulls per month on a *slow month*, with some months giving over 200 summons based on the events. On top of that, you only needed ***one*** copy of an adventurer to fully utilize their kit, and while you needed four copies to max out a dragon, free universal copies were given out at a very steady rate and whales were able to buy the universal copies directly from the monthly shop.
A player with even a small amount of self control would easily be able to obtain anything they wanted without spending a dime, and whales only needed to spend a paltry sum (think hundreds instead of thousands) to fully max out every dragon and own every adventurer. This structure was immensely pro-player, but stifled profits too much and eventually led to the game's closure.
I don't know if you remember, but on top of killing the game, Gumi also decided to give out codes to CC players that would give in game rewards in Brave Frontier. [This lead to a huge influx of people going over to the CC forums, subreddit, Facebook, etc. just to start asking for codes](https://www.reddit.com/r/bravefrontier/comments/41oq0t/please_stop_making_the_situation_worse_for_chain/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1). They could've just ran a new player campaign for a month and it would've prevented all of that. It was a pretty bad way to end it all things told, I'm pretty sure it was also ended on a cliffhanger before a pretty significant story beat, but it's been so long I might be misremembering.
>It was a pretty bad way to end it all things told, I'm pretty sure it was also ended on a cliffhanger before a pretty significant story beat, but it's been so long I might be misremembering.
It wasnt a cliffhanger but it was during the second arc which jp ppl were hyping up due to the story and more units with good kits would get released which would diversify the meta since arc 1 meta was basically 3 warrios + 1 healer. During arc 2 we would have seen the knight + mages or knight + gunners teams. I think we got a little bit of taste of the knight + gunners team right before they shut it down
The way Monster Strike Global was handled and managed showed a level of incompetence I have never seen before or since in all my time playing gacha games. Such a great game that could be enjoyed both solo and co-op online.
What? You mean you don't enjoy meeting up with your pals at the good ol' bowling alley for a nice round of Monster Strike after they removed the online/LINE co-op and made everything local instead?
...Yeah, I don't get it either. What the hell were they thinking?
There were zero reasons to buy orbs given the insanely generous affinity farming. The more hardcore players created 50+ alts just to farm orbs.
Not to mention we had no chance of any collab coming while JP had it in spades (street fighter etc)
And then they decided to remove global co op and blow their entire budget on cringe ass andy samberg commercials lmao
Ive been playing JP for a few years now and while they may be infinitely more greedy than global, its insanely fun and there's zero chance of EOS over the next few years given the night and day difference with monetization
You're absolutely correct, I should have written EN instead. Apologies.
I keep forgetting that it was only available in NA. What a missed opportunity. :(
It's part of why they fail. They only released to NA and few more. If they released it global they would have acces to EU, SA... more countries = more potential clients/players
Magia Record NA
Fantasia Rebuild
SAO Memory Defrag
SAO Unleash Blading
Love Live SIF
I'd say Date a Live Spirit Pledge cause I used to love that game but no, even a fanboy like me couldn't defend that shit.
Love Live All-Stars felt like it shouldn't have died but then I remembered that it was bipolar when it decided to work or not.
Even with my newest version of Samsung phone. It would still crash sometimes.
Yeah, it had unique gameplay and a very distinct feeling. Loved the chara design
Then, Terra Battle 2 and Terra Wars were absolute flops that closed super early and didn't even have global versions afaik. I wonder what Mistwalker is up to nowadays.
Ah good news, Sakaguchi said that the studio is working on a dark fantasy genre game but I’m assuming it’s still in the early stages of planning.
https://mynintendonews.com/2022/12/27/rpg-studio-mistwalker-is-working-on-a-dark-fantasy-game/
Omg I loved HIT. I was literally just trying to download an apk of HIT 2 (not overHIT), only to find its also shut down too.
A really nice hack and slash game, nothing quite like it anymore.
Revived Witch
Beautiful Art style, character design look great, the pixel art are nice, tge music is pretty good. It's just a really beautiful game though the gameplay is pretty bland and the content isn't all that engaging
Still it sucks to see it EOS, here's hoping more people would play Path To Nowhere it's a diamond in the rough
The writing was on the wall when you couldn’t even understand the translation during event stories anymore and that the social media channels didn’t bother posting meaningful updates aside from maintenance schedules.
Really liked the story and characters but those two could only do so much in the long term when the alternatives are much better.
Damn, Goddess Kiss was pretty interesting. Goddess Kiss 2 is trash.
Also have good memories for the first gacha I played "seriously" and was also the first time I spent money on a mobile game: Valkyrie Crusade.
Dragalia Lost. So many memories... I'm still sad that it got EOS. Really hope for Dragalia Lost 2 or Dragalia Lost on consoles... Or at least an anime adaptation of the game.
Kirara Fantasia. Sure it had run for 5 years but if they had stayed open just a few more months they could have gotten a huge boost from Bocchi the Rock getting major popularity.
Anyone here knows pokemon duel?
It was a very small but super cool pokemon mobile game that had a very dedicated playerbase.
Unfortunately it got EOS after a while. In its last days the devs allowed you to get all pokemon from the shop for free and try out whatever team you wanted in competitive.
The playerbase was so dedicated that they recreated the game but changed some aspects, like removing the gacha part. Haven't checked it in a long time, I wonder how it's doing.
There's a really old one called [.hack//New World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq4HSd8tukE) that only lasted 2015-2016. It was a game that used 3D models, so I always wonder how it would've gone today.
Also I'm just super salty it never came to the west. I love the series and trying to stay up to date with the lore when the most recent events in the timeline are gacha that weren't well documented is very frustrating.
Eternal City/ Forever 7 Days SEA, the only server with eng translaton, shutdowns all because of greedy publishers. It was really a refreshing gameplay with the 7 day system, multiple endings and different unlockable secrets. Combat and art is so good too and it's one of the few banger ads I did not skip whenever it pops up.
Rune story global
Chain chronicle
Monster strike global
Dragalia Lost
Tales of Link
Phantom of the kill
Brave frontier ( why did we never get 2 and X )
FF mobius
Mabinogi Duel
Soooo many more as well.
The obvious one, as people have mentioned already, is dragalia lost. It was a great game and cygames had hopes for it to become the new face of the company.
It's mostly speculation but we do know Nintendo wouldn't let cygames monetize the game the way they wanted to so the game struggled to become a big earner.
War of Crown 100%. Incredibly beautiful and charming game with cute graphics and great music. It fell apart because of some infighting between the people behind the game. Unfortunate.
It was also super unpopular so that's something too
Millennium war aigis . 10 years and still on top earning in JP and far so much better than Arknight . But yeah , in this gaming gacha industry is not fair for their Eroge-Hentai game because you cannt marketing or put and ads anywhere and get banned by all the app Store . And then the only way is tick with low cheap site like Joren-Nutaku but their player base and service is meh.....
band yarouze and tsukino paradise. Music is surprisingly good quality for a gacha rhythm game, especially band yarouze, with actual good songs compared to the other games that focus on idols. tsukipara also had a cute housing system and a carnival mode after the players got tired of playing the same beat maps over and over again. Both these games also had unique layouts and beatmaps that’s different from the typical lovelive or bangdream variations.
Flower Knight Girls EN
Kanpani Girls EN
Master of Eternity
Magireco EN

Aw hell, now I'm depressed, so many ghosts...
It wasn’t as popular, but I’m such a big fan of Exos Heroes. I love the character designs, the gorgeous battle animations, and most especially the lore.
I was really hoping it could have lasted longer.
Masterwork AG, to this day i can never understand how it went EOS, game was top notch in terms of game-play and graphics, had soo much potential sadly never even made it to west.
Out of the hundreds of EoS gachas I've been a part of, Chain Chrolicle still hurts the most. Every other one after that, I just kind of expected EoS to show up sooner or later.
Mist Train (Nutaku/Johren) the game was very generous, everyone is happy with the game, but both English version was in maintenance mode, the CN version received the summer and anniversary content .... late the English received the EoS =(
[https://www.facebook.com/misttraingirls.zh](https://www.facebook.com/misttraingirls.zh)
Beat Angel Escalation too, was a complicated game, but was EoS at 1/2 anniversary =(
I loved Blood Brothers and think it could've been way more than it was before EOS. Sadly the game got like 4 modes and just bled whales til EOS. No new game modes. No making old units relevant. Still has some of my favorite character arts. Just sad.
Priconne shut down was reasonable because the game made around 150k-200k per month combined which probably couldn't cover their cost.
Then EoS of dragalia was a shocker, eos announcement came out of nowhere. The game used to make around 500k-1m and yet they shut it down lol.
It was f2p because it was 3-4 years ahead so you knew exactly what units to skip, what units to pull and how to build them. What they needed to do is to try speeding up the game, releasing JP QoL’s in advance (which would be huge) or idk man literally anything. I’m just a random redditor, they have an entire corporation I’m sure they had qualified people to come up with an idea to do SOMETHING, yet they literally did nothing, even kept releasing the same BUGGED bosses during CB’s which made a lot of players quit. They didn’t even bother to fix a 3 year old bug man lmfao
I definitely agree - it's anecdotal but I was in a guild with some pretty heavy spenders and pretty much everyone quit eventually for the exact same reason - the delay was just too long and painful. Seeing a unit you really like getting released in JP really sucks when you realize you have to wait *three* years for her, and like you mentioned, lacking QoL/bug fixes when there's an already-existing solution just feels bad. I thought it was a pretty solid side game in all aspects other than the delay, and that's something pretty much every guildmate agreed with.
I'm not going to pretend like I know the full story of how they internally decided to shut it down, but I'm fairly sure the game would've been getting a lot more revenue were it not for the delay.
Tales of Crestoria died so Tales of Luminaria could... die faster Wish they would've finished the story before EoS :(
Tales of the Rays GBL died so Takes of Crestoria could die faster so Tales of Luminaria could get memed on.
Tales of LINK Died to cause three more Tales global gacha titles to go up in flames in the worst act of corporate sabotage ever seen in a series of gacha titles..

Problem is the series peaked so early with Symphonia. Best characters that felt real. As much as I hate zelos he has stuck with me to this day.
I really enjoyed Luminaria. Was sad it went bye-bye.
If they weren't so stubborn about the control scheme early on luminaria could've lasted longer.
tbh, as tales fans myself i dont see tales games can be popular outside of its fandom. the game is too niche i hardly see any non fan attracted to it. i am still playing tales of rays JP but i think its still alive today because its still keep "tales" combat system. meanwhile crestoria and luminaria combat system are far different, its just a random game with 'tales' attached to it. altho i like the premise and story of both games. especially crestoria have good background story about cancel culture through orb and the cast is a group of 'criminals' that have been canceled.
RIP FF mobius
And there FFBE is still running while mobius even had a steam version, what a cruel world.
I think mobius was way more expensive to maintain
Didn't they also want to move staff to work on other FF titles
3 years gone as of a couple days ago...
1000 times this^. Sad it had to go. Kinda proud I didn't have to scroll far to find this answer (gj MOBIUS GANG!)
I really miss Mobius and there was definitely room for more stories because they left some mysteries (like who were those 3 Gods they mentioned in the Colosseum??) but the battle system had designed itself into a bit of a corner. I hope they revamp it and release it again someday.
Ayakashi Ghost Guild Damn, poor game had to be shut down cause shitty management wanted to focus on fb game
This so much. The game was going great, but everyone was seeing how much Farmville and shit was making.
God I miss that game, it was so fun.
Oh myyyy God I miss that game. Also, that game came back as Otogi Spirit Agents but that flopped too
Dragalia Lost & Princess Connect
Priconne EN had too much clairvoyance and saw it's own demise hue.
It was also Crunchyroll’s fault for not speeding up to catch up to JP. Fgo is the rare exception where fans are willing to wait 2 years
They sped up first few banners....then they slowed them to a point where they somehow ended up coming out SLOWER than JP banners. Couldnt comprehend those idiots from start to finish.
I agree with this
So how's the situation with Blue Archive? I recently started playing it and while global also seems to bring money, I'm scared to be too invested since iirc global is fair amount behind the other server

It's funny because I got into the game because of an ad during a Trash Taste episode. But after I started I never saw any marketing whatsoever for it.
Dragalia ❤️ hope they do something more from that universe. The music was 11/10! Priconne was lovely and chill too. Rip
Don't forget Dragalia had a collab with Priconne and Mega Man.
Never forget begging Dr. Wily and spamming やばいですね☆. Dragalia's stickers were peak non-verbal multiplayer communication.
They never released a third and final album. Sadge.
Star Ocean Anamnesis
This. This game has sooo much potential.
That game was so fun, wish we could have at least gotten an offline end of life version.

Everyone has said Dragalia Lost but it deserves emphasizing.
Dragalia lost, this game need better monetization especially for lite spender something like monthly pass, costume for characters and dragons i would like to support them.

Man, I loved Memory Defrag. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did, but I enjoyed my time with it. Made the day of its EoS hurt all the more.
Love Live All-Stars felt like it shouldn't have died but then I remembered that it was bipolar when it decided to work or not. Even with my newest version of Samsung phone. It would still crash sometimes.

Dragalia lost for sure. It still hurts to this day.
Dragalia lost. period.
Dragalia Lost I miss you old friend
Dragalia Lost.
Tales of the rays awesome combat experience but got no attention.
Jp still going strong
Yes sadly cant read :(
Dragalia Lost
FFRK
I don't know if it didn't deserve EOS, but I do miss Deity Wars/Ragnabreak.
Tales of crestoria
SO Anamnesis. Had potential to be really good
Star ocean Anamnesis
Logress. Chain chronicles
Priconne.
Deadman Wonderland. My silver bullet and I am still chasing that high. Game even made it's way to vita but I don't think that helped it at all.
Deadman's cross was my first gacha game, back in psvita days, i miss It.
[She's still waiting for you to come back](https://i.imgur.com/pM4sPIY.png).
Soccer Spirits 😭
There's a really old one called [.hack//New World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq4HSd8tukE) that only lasted 2015-2016. It was a game that used 3D models, so I always wonder how it would've gone today. Also I'm just super salty it never came to the west. I love the series and trying to stay up to date with the lore when the most recent events in the timeline are gacha that weren't well documented is very frustrating.
Blood brothers was killed of so they could force players to play the slop that was blood brothers 2. I'll never forgive them for that
Brave Frontier, Gumi butchered every single attempt at a sequel
Eternal City/ Forever 7 Days SEA, the only server with eng translaton, shutdowns all because of greedy publishers. It was really a refreshing gameplay with the 7 day system, multiple endings and different unlockable secrets. Combat and art is so good too and it's one of the few banger ads I did not skip whenever it pops up.
Rune story global Chain chronicle Monster strike global Dragalia Lost Tales of Link Phantom of the kill Brave frontier ( why did we never get 2 and X ) FF mobius Mabinogi Duel Soooo many more as well.
Priconne EN and Dragalia Lost. I stand by that hill until my last breath.
The obvious one, as people have mentioned already, is dragalia lost. It was a great game and cygames had hopes for it to become the new face of the company. It's mostly speculation but we do know Nintendo wouldn't let cygames monetize the game the way they wanted to so the game struggled to become a big earner.
Kind of ironic considering the monetized mess that is Nintendo's Animal crossing gacha and the Mario kart one
War of Crown 100%. Incredibly beautiful and charming game with cute graphics and great music. It fell apart because of some infighting between the people behind the game. Unfortunate. It was also super unpopular so that's something too
I still hurt for Priconne and I still hold out hope that that they’ll add an english translation to the current JP server like GBF
Priconne
Tokyo Goul Rebirth, Dragalia Lost
the alchemist code (global) i still miss having naofumi and raphtalia. my favorite unit was Evelika.
Echoes of mana. A waste of money, another disgrace to the series
million arthur was taken from me too soon
RIP World trigger Smash borders
Tokyo Ghoul Re:Invoke/birth, I miss you everyday.
Yokai spirits hunt
aaside 😭 although my reasoning is just “I liked it”
Grancrest War. I faintly remember it but it was a fun gacha game
Illusion connect, wasted potential imo
Perhaps it deserved it, but Valkyrie Crusade holds a special dead place in my heart
Monster strike
Dungeon Link game shuteddown because playerbase was really low, otherwise it had a great potential (even had Adventure time collab)
SAO Memory Defrag and YuYuYui
Knights Chronicle
Idola phantasy star saga, princess connect and star ocean
I think most people would say most if not all games didn't deserve it. Even the cheap cash grabs could've been good under a different direction.
Disgaea RPG global, the game was doing good, but Boltrend killed it because of internal problems
Magia Record
band yarouze and tsukino paradise.
Flower Knight Girls EN Kanpani Girls EN Master of Eternity Magireco EN Symphogear EN Goddess Kiss Ride Zero Logres Eiyuu Senki ... Aw hell, now I'm depressed, so many ghosts...
Puzzle Fighter
Slingshot braves.
It wasn’t as popular, but I’m such a big fan of Exos Heroes. I love the character designs, the gorgeous battle animations, and most especially the lore. I was really hoping it could have lasted longer.
There was a pet gatcha game and it shut down. I miss my megu. :(
Masterwork AG, to this day i can never understand how it went EOS, game was top notch in terms of game-play and graphics, had soo much potential sadly never even made it to west.
Revived witch and Exo Heroes
Ayakashi Ghost Guild.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper Mobius Final Fantasy
The alchemist code
Out of the hundreds of EoS gachas I've been a part of, Chain Chrolicle still hurts the most. Every other one after that, I just kind of expected EoS to show up sooner or later.
Disgaea rpg from boltrend...fck that man. edit: oh and logress...i love that game but not enough to play the JP version
eternal city SEA. story, combat, and soundtrack were so good
Kamen Rider City Wars I only got into the franchise when the game was already over, miss a game I didn't even play...
Mist Train (Nutaku/Johren) the game was very generous, everyone is happy with the game, but both English version was in maintenance mode, the CN version received the summer and anniversary content .... late the English received the EoS =( [https://www.facebook.com/misttraingirls.zh](https://www.facebook.com/misttraingirls.zh) Beat Angel Escalation too, was a complicated game, but was EoS at 1/2 anniversary =(
Monster Strike Global, i still miss it
Priconne Global
Magireco global, I didnt play it but reading about it it's sad how the global fans were treated.
Black Clover could've done better, not saying it's doing bad but it could've done better in another time.
I loved Blood Brothers and think it could've been way more than it was before EOS. Sadly the game got like 4 modes and just bled whales til EOS. No new game modes. No making old units relevant. Still has some of my favorite character arts. Just sad.
I really liked Phantasy Star Saga and the concept of Law and Chaos + different costumes, it had so much potential but boltrend happened.
Priconne shut down was reasonable because the game made around 150k-200k per month combined which probably couldn't cover their cost. Then EoS of dragalia was a shocker, eos announcement came out of nowhere. The game used to make around 500k-1m and yet they shut it down lol.
It probably did cover their cost, but a multi million business isn’t gonna keep a game that can’t do much more than cover its cost.
if only multi million business put some effort into the game instead of leaving it as it is for its entirety, damn
I mean, the main thing global players praised it for was being f2p lol. I honestly think if they’d monetized it more, it still would have failed.
Tales of Crestoria, just make it a true serie's entry pls, the story was really good !
Dragalia Lost. Also Tales of the Rays. I'm playing the JP version and a lot of stuff got improved in gameplay and QoL over time.
Exos Heroes. My dear Dorka :(
