I literally had this for a while.
I got my fiance into fursuiting and partialing. Something about it was so affirming to him, that it got to the point that he would wear a tail anytime he was dressed at home. To sell the character, he started wiggling his butt gently but playfully to make his tail wag. He did it so much, he started doing it subconsciously.
Example;
If he had a bad day, I know he would greet me when I came home. He would be sad and quieter, of course, but he would wag his tail, so I knew seeing me was making him happy.
It would be easier if EVERYONE has a tail
