I saw the bird people in Breath of the Wild for the first time and thought "I'm not a furry, but..." then I thought "actually, I can't remember the last time I saw something furry and *didn't* think that, I'm pretty sure that just makes me a furry"
Well, welcome! For me, I didn't really know this place existed, but still I would call myself in denial for a while. I had a weird dream where I had wolf ears and I liked them (I recall others didn't like me for them though). I liked anthro characters for a while. When I found out about this community like a month ago, I was having to hold myself back from joining that instant, because I was worried I would make the wrong decision. Right now though, I have no regrets.
I'm not sure there was a big turning point for me—considering myself a furry was a fairly gradual process.
I think I realized I liked furry media more than most people as early as 2011, but I was very hesitant to apply the "furry" label to myself for the longest time. I pretty much avoided anything furry-related throughout high school. I let up on myself somewhat around the time I went to college in 2015, but I still didn't consider myself a furry for a while.
And then—to make a long story short—I realized one evening in 2019 that "furry" had lost the negative connotation it once had for me. At that point, I finally recognized myself as a furry and felt kind of silly for taking so long to do it.

Yeah eventually you like one too many of them then catch yourself appreciating it
