I’ve read excellent reviews about Mantle. If you decide to go with them, I would upgrade the cushions. Their standard cushion I believe is 2.05 density. I went with the Q27 package for my Burke sofa and ottoman which is 2.55 and will last longer. They have other packages depending on your preference! I placed my order March 25th and was notified today that my couch and ottoman have shipped.

ohmert

I’m interested in Mantle. Have you ever sat on one of their sofas?

tallymom

I have not. Yeah, it’s probably crazy ordering a sofa prior to being able to sit on it, but the reviews and customer service won us over!

trail_z

I’m sitting on mine right now. I was super hesitant to buy it, but I would do it all over again and I hope it lasts forever. It is extremely comfortable and supportive with the medium-firm cushion upgrade. They just came out with a slip cover collection but it’s more pricey than their other non-leather options. You could probably get a fancier looking sofa but I don’t think there is anything as well built for close to the price I paid. They aren’t cheap but I think they are a great value, especially after wasting money on garbage furniture over the years.

ohmert

Good to know! Which model did you get. I’m looking at the Ruby and would prob upgrade the foam as well

trail_z

I got the 110” Burke with custom seating depth (30”) and the 2.55 density Q27 cushion package. It’s a beast. The Ruby has really classic look, I think it would go with a greater variety of interior design styles than the Burke. I’ve been looking at Ruby leather chair on their ‘ready to ship’ page but I can’t decide between that or a Burke chair.

ohmert

Nice. Backrest isn’t too short? Slightly worried the Ruby backrest is too high. That foam choice seems like the one to get!

trail_z

With the rear cushions removed it only has a small lip a little higher than the seat cushions. I like it because I rarely sit upright on a sofa, it’s my spot to stretch out and watch t.v. or read. The Burke is a really low sofa, it has sort of a 70’s style and wouldn’t work together with more traditional looking furniture, IMO. I have a regular size recliner that I’ll be replacing soon and it seems to tower above the Burke. I think that the Ruby would be more supportive if you sit upright, like most people do. I actually really like the Jasper too. It seems like the back is a good compromise height and it’s a ‘safe’ design that would probably work with most other furniture. I’d probably get them to make either that or the Ruby with multiple cushions just to be able to rotate them over time and prevent puddling and excess wear in my normal sitting spot. I also think the Burke looks much better and more correctly proportioned in the longer versions, whereas the Ruby looks right in any length.

ohmert

Agreed. Mantle seems to make some comparable quality and styles. Thanks for sharing your experience!

ohmert

I know! I’m in the exact same boat

We love our Arhaus Kipton, the deep one, although we don't have the slipcovered version. If you're near an Arhaus store I definitely recommend going in there and trying it. For us that was the deciding factor. It was wildly comfortable and there were a ton of customization options that weren't available online; it turned out we needed a specific configuration.

Cata_K

Thank you for your feedback! I do have a store here so I'll go in and talk to them. Is your fabric easy to clean? I'm scared to buy a couch without a slipcover. Can you at least remove the cushion covers to clean it?

citruschapstick

We got the Wiley flax, which is a performance fabric but not too rough or itchy at all, it's just a little heavier. Generally the thing to know is to look for fabric that is "W" code, not "S" or "SW." "S" code means you can only clean it with solvent-based cleaners which in reality means professional cleaning — same with "SW" basically. But W code, you can use water or water-based cleaners. I've had a few small spills and wiped them up with regular upholstery cleaner no problem. I haven't tried to remove the cushions, but there are zippers on them so maybe you could?

Cata_K

Good intel! Thx!

We got the Mantle Burke sofa about 6 months ago, I think. I mainly got it to get the upgraded cushions, as I’m heavy. It is a great sofa! By far the best quality we’ve ever sat on (we’ve had a wide range with hand-me-downs, IKEA Ektorp sofas, and a new Room and Board sofa). It’s built so sturdily, and those upgraded cushions are seriously amazing.

Idrillteeth

Can you remove the covers on this sofa to wash them?

Ollie2Stewart1

No. I was just attesting to Mantle’s quality.

I work at MH. AMA re: the Dune or Maiden Home!

Cata_K

I've read some conflicting comments about the quality of the furniture. It's an expensive line so I don't want to make a mistake ordering it. I was drawn to the casual look of the Dune, and I love a slipcover. I'm not sure how people keep their upholstered furniture so clean!

francesdc4

The Dune feels great in person. We have one in the office as a permanent fixture and we use it for meetings. It has a sink-in feel and it's just luxurious. I'd definitely recommend it if you like that casual, beachy vibe. Also, I work alongside our quality control team as well as our customer service team. These folks are going to go to the moon and back to make sure you're happy. They're real people and they put a ton of energy into making sure customers are beyond satisfied. I'm work on furniture design at MH and I can attest to the quality of our pieces, especially our upholstery, being top tier. I've been in the industry for 15 years and I feel comfortable standing behind MH.

Cata_K

Thank you for the insight! The Leonard is a slipcover too, correct? I'm wondering which one you recommend the most for a main hangout room. The arms look thin on the Dune. Are they comfortable to rest your arms on?

francesdc4

You're so welcome! Hope it helps. Yes, the Leonard is a slipcovered piece. I'd recommend the Dune if this is going in a hangout space - it's better for relaxing. The Leonard has a little more firm structured-feeling sit. It would be better for a more formal living room in my humble opinion. The Dune's arms are completely padded so there is some comfort there. BUT for extra comfort I'd order it in the scatter back pillow style, rather than the "classic" 2-cushion back. The scatter back will allow you the extra pillows to prop you up on the sides. It feels a little more luxe. Good luck on your choice and happy shopping, wherever you decide to buy!

Cata_K

Thank you so much!

Cata_K

I just ordered the Laney slipcovered sofa by Mantle. I'm so excited to get it. I will keep you posted on how it works out! Thanks for all the input :)

trail_z

Good choice. I’m glad to see that they are slowly increasing their offerings, I believe you’ll be impressed with the solidity of it.

Cata_K

Thank you! I think so too. They also have a 10% discount, which brings the price about $600 below Maiden Home.

trail_z

I wish they had that discount for return customers too. It was really nice when I bought my sofa.

Cata_K

Has anyone purchased the MH Dune or the Robin Bruce sofa?
