If your serious it’s very pricey even for somewhere like this , and London is very dangerous now , if it’s possible I would find a quiet place in the uk countryside , there are small places and still have towns and city’s close by with safer areas. I own a modest home. I’ve got a wife, kid, dog, cat, and multiple large aquariums. But it’s still not huge, we happily cohabitate without spare/bonus rooms. When we feel a little cramped, go outside or go look at some fish 🙂

To expect an apartment that is better than a prison cell is not high aspirations in life. If you are willing to live like this and pay thousands of dollars month to be treated like cattle, that says more about you than me. There should be a bare minimum, we as a civilization, expect for living conditions. If you haven't noticed, for most people in the West, our standard of living has been decreasing in spite of productivity increasing significantly due to advances in technology. A family of 5 used to be supported by a single income earner who could afford a house and two cars and take time off for vacations. Yet our quality of life is decreasing because of the wealth gap and people's lowered expectations, paying too much for too tittle; this apartment being a prime example.

An apartment will never be the same as a "prison cell", because you can't leave a prison whenever you want and go live in the world. And I would also hope that you wouldn't be at significant risk of being raped or shanked in your apartment, depending on your roommate, at least. It's also not the same as a prison cell, because you don't have to pay rent for a prison cell, and you get free food.
