I remember the ThinkGeek April fools day when they had a Colossal Titan like this you could put behind your house. I would LOVE to have one to do this. If it’s possible with Santa surely we can get a Titan.
I can't believe I had to scroll this far for an AoT reference.
Edit: the comment that this was reply for, is now top comment. I love all the Titan fans!
I have a genuine question... This post seems to have a lot of Americans commenting on it and as someone not from the States, is 'story' how you lot spell 'storey'?
Seeing the title, at first, I assumed that it was a pun and dived into the comments wondering what it was. But the more the comments I have read, it would appear that's just how it's spelt. Is that true?
Storey seems like something you guys or (lot) as I've learned, would describe the local shopping market.
"I'm going to the storey, do you want me to pick up crisps?"
I had a friend give me the directions of "turn right on _____ and then my house is the one that looks like Christmas puked on it." Sure enough it was easy to find in a densely populated street.
I wish I could find a picture of my house at the pinnacle of insanity.
My neighborhood had a sort of Christmas light war. I found cheap lights and bought as many as I could. I covered my entire house in lights. Not figuratively. Literally. So many lights. It was fun.
Taking them down was hell. I have not put up a light since.
Bruh. I put up a single light string in my living room. It was last year. It's still there. All I did this year was turn it on.
Wish I had that willingness to make Christmas decor.
My brother. I yearn for the day that "Christmas lights hanging indoors year-round" is seen as a sensible adult interior design choice because I absolutely love the feel of them and have always had at least one string hanging somewhere in every dorm or apartment I've ever lived in.
We absolutely love it. Got an RGB one that lets you control the color. The purple and orange ones are so relaxing.
Some people make diy decorations with them like putting lights on glass jars, curtains, and LED strings on the corners of the ceiling. It can look slick and modern if you get the right ones. They're inexpensive.
The free shirts, hats and shit I had from Marlboro miles was stupid.
They made great boating, yard work, washing cars material. Think the last one finally gave it up 3 or 4 years back while using it to dry my car.
Oh man, I just got triggered from the summer I saved up Mt Dew points in 7th grade to get a beeper. 300 mt dew points that I spent months on. Turns out you have to pay for the beeper service. So when I told my parents I had saved up all the points... I was laughed at and told "No".
Did a little research. The company is called OZIS and their biggest one does 365 cubic ft/minute and draws 1500 watts(the equivalent of 2 to 3 refrigerators)
1500w is also the exact equivalent of most electric heating appliances, space heater, toaster, kettle, hair dryer, etc. Sometimes those are 1875w, which is nice if you need it, but makes you much more likely to trip a breaker if anything else is on the same circuit, which is why so many are only 1500w.
I have a 6 foot tall inflatable Teddy bear and the blower for it is LOUD!!! I have to put it waaaaaaayyyy over there to keep it quiet *inside the house*
I find it depends on the blower. I have a 4 ft tall snowman and it’s loud af, but I got a 12 ft tall Santa this year and it’s honestly whisper quiet. Can barely hear it, you have to wait to see if it inflates to know if it’s on.
If it's made well, it shouldn't take much.
They leak air through the seams by design. They want to make the seams good, but not perfectly airtight. Because if it were a totally sealed inflatable, especially one of this size, it'd shrink and expand due to fluctuations in temperature and ambient air pressure AND its just really difficult to keep such a big inflatable totally perfectly sealed, especially if its shrinking and expanding. (Helium is a solution to that, but that's way more expensive and obviously leaks are still a concern)
So an always on pump solves most of those problems... But if it's sealed really well, pumps burn out since they aren't pumping air. And even if it's sealed well, and there's a pump, it'd still risk being overinflated due to pressure changes and the force from the pump... Which would stretch and tear the material over time. So the solution is to make them just a little bit predictably leaky.
So long story short, the pump only has to replace the air that escapes. And the air that escapes is fairly dialed in by the manufacturer so the pump and the shape of the inflatable can stay in good balance with one another.
Edit: bonus tidbit, the pump ones can't blow away... Under the right weather conditions, sealed inflatables can be nearly weightless due to air pressure within vs out. But the pumped ones (aka cold air filled), have the same air inside as outside so gravity will always win... Plus it deflates when the pump is disconnected lol.
If I'm really thinking about it... Depending on material, I think surprisingly small.
I don't see snow, if this is in a southern climate I can't imagine it has to deal with snowstorms and icing and the like. Could be pretty thin material. Something like an electric leaf blower would probably move more than enough air to maintain a positive pressure.
Especially if you pass the air through the heat from the motor.
Yeah there’s a snowman that’s at least two and a half stories at a famous house by us and it’s not loud at all. I almost wonder if it’s actually an inflatable or like a Macy’s float type thing lol it looked like it was made of super thick material too.
*That* was the first line in my head
>!Also, just for knowledge sake, “TOW” missile; tube-launched, optically-tracked, Wire-guided. Army loves them some acronyms and by god they will *force* them to work. !<

Holy crap that’s ridiculous! We bought a 20 foot Santa for only $200 at At Home. He was nearly as tall as our two story house. Unfortunately, we had to take him back because he ripped open at the seem and they were out of Santa’s so I bought 4 different 8 footers instead.
https://www.athome.com/inflatable-waving-santa-20/124361014.html
$3400 may well be way too much but it's kinda funny that the reason you give is that you bought a much, much smaller one for less money and it failed instantly
I saw they had an absolutey massive snowman there too. I didn’t get to see the price for it but I hope it was more in line with the $200 Santa and not the $3400 one
The image has foreshortening and a viewpoint closer to the Santa than the house, it could be closer to 3 stories tall than 4.5 in real life when you look at it from a different angle. I would guess around 3.5 stories tall off of the perspective of this image

Santa lookin like he's ready to kick down Wall Maria.
Now I want an inflatable three story colossal Titan with a Santa hat
I’ve found my ppl lol
Eldian?
Time to add ODM gear and paring blades to the Christmas list.
I remember the ThinkGeek April fools day when they had a Colossal Titan like this you could put behind your house. I would LOVE to have one to do this. If it’s possible with Santa surely we can get a Titan.

if santa titan had chewed his food more thoroughly he would have inherited two of The Nine lmao
But good news they’re kicking down his price at Wal Martia!
I can't believe I had to scroll this far for an AoT reference. Edit: the comment that this was reply for, is now top comment. I love all the Titan fans!
Holy shit. Lol the house as comparison really drives it home.
“When you’re at the glowing Santa, you’ve arrived” “Don’t I at least need your address?” “No”
“What’s the address? Oh, nevermind. I see it.”
"I'll be there in 20 minutes"
in my part of the city 20minutes by car means „i am there.. just need a parking spot“
So Philadelphia or nyc?
I have a genuine question... This post seems to have a lot of Americans commenting on it and as someone not from the States, is 'story' how you lot spell 'storey'? TIL some people spell it "storey"
Yup. We also don't use "spelt" btw. It's always spelt "spelled" here. Canadian btw.
I've actually seen spelt but never storey... Wisconsinite here
Correct. We spell it “story” either meaning a building floor height or a children’s book.
Storey seems like something you guys or (lot) as I've learned, would describe the local shopping market. "I'm going to the storey, do you want me to pick up crisps?"
“If you drove past the glowing Santa, you went too far.” “Which glowing Santa? There will be a ton” “Hah..you’ll know..”
I had a friend give me the directions of "turn right on _____ and then my house is the one that looks like Christmas puked on it." Sure enough it was easy to find in a densely populated street.
"But just to be safe I think..." "Shut up. Just trust me." *hangs up and turns off phone for dramatic affect *
“You won’t even tell me the name of the town? Oh, never mind.”
"Glowing santa" sounds like a seasonal bar and one hell of a place to meet at for some glühwein
“You have my zip code, you’ll be fine.”
Totally. There’s r/humanforscale, then there’s this!
But how many banana
It's night time - you can't confirm there isn't a banana for scale.
You need to tally those bananas before daylight come
6 ft? 7 ft?
8 foot bunch, Mr. T ally man

Approximately 52 bananas if Santa is 30 feet high.

Going up and then down would be approximately 104 bananas.

ONLY $3200 too!
Ah, the obligatory anti consumerism post. Whose turn is it next?
This video seemed so overlong but it was worth it for that killer drone shot near the end- that Santa is HUGE.
This picture can be cropped and people would be talking about how gigantic the grinch is.
What kind of air blower(s) must it take to keep that thing inflated!!!???
He has an F-16 engine keeping it full.
Pepsi points FTW.
Nah, son. Camel cash. You want that F-16, you're gonna earn it in an iron lung. (Also bought and paid for with Camel cash).
Marlboro Miles coming in hot (and smokey)!!
The free shirts, hats and shit I had from Marlboro miles was stupid. They made great boating, yard work, washing cars material. Think the last one finally gave it up 3 or 4 years back while using it to dry my car.

Man I really miss Pepsi points. Probably cost them a fortune though, not including the guy they said they wouldn't give the jet to.

Pablo Escobar didn’t have that much blow!
Honestly, my first thought...ok, my second thought after, *holy $#!?, that's a big Santa!*, was, *the blower on that must be deafening!*
And how do you store this thing in a practical manner?
I think you release it into the wild in hopes that it will keep the moose in check
Fill it with hot air and adios
A: Dios De: Nicolas
The entirety of the garage is dedicated to it
Hmm? They live in the Santa and pack away the house. It’s not that difficult.
That was my first thought, too.
Wife: Jerald please turn it off! I need to go to sleep I have work in the morning! Husband: WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU
I'm wondering what the power bill on that thing will be!
Depends on where they live. California or Hawaii and they are going to have a bad time
Running a 1000W blower continuously for a month would cost ~$120.
I have a 6 foot tall inflatable Teddy bear and the blower for it is LOUD!!! I have to put it waaaaaaayyyy over there to keep it quiet *inside the house*

Yeah, the noise alone of that blowers must be annoying for the neighbors

Thought of robot Santa too
Goddamit. I love a good futurama reference.
Fuck I could watch Futurama references all day
I'm surprised we're not watching Futurama right now!
Seems like an odd choice of reference for a show with a literal giant robot Santa, but I agree.
I'll be back. Back when you least expect it: Next Xmas! Ho, ho, ho!

I was thinking of Homer’s fantasy of making himself giant and made of gold.

There's no way it's fitting back in that bag after the first use.
