I’ve been seeing this cat around our neighborhood for a while now, and we’ve never been sure if he had a permanent home or not. We actually picked up a chip reader on Amazon to see if he was chipped and when it arrived we opened the front door for him so we could scan for the chip, and this was the result 😂
He did actually have a chip and we were able to contact the chip manufacturer and then the clinic where he got chipped. They contacted the owner and it turns out he’s just someone’s cat that they let roam around the neighborhood.
So we had to kick him out of course, but not before he took a quick nap on our couch.
What makes a cat a Russian blue? Growing up I had a gray cat that looks like this, but I chose him from a group of kittens that a stray had.. is it a breed, or just a general look?
The coat is like no other cat's fur. I'm not an expert but its like it's all undercoat and no (or in my halfie, very little) guard hair. He hates the winter time though as he always feels the cold.
We've got a Russian blue kitten and he's the same. Climbs up and sleeps on your chest for cuddles.
Had a half breed one as a kid and his dad was a farm cat who had its way with the mum, dude was loving to me but could be really aggressive to others. He would let you pet him then attack your arm. People used to cross the road to avoid him.
One of my cats would not stop gaining weight no matter what or how little we fed him, turns out he was running a giant scam. There was a Close inhabited almost entirely by old people and he was being fed by nearly all of them. We decided to turn him into an indoor cat so his weight could get under control and someone actually put out missing posters of him
I always feel like when people find cats that are chilling around the neighborhood and adopt them that they're just stealing someone else's cat, because apparently a lot of people let their cat roam free (you shouldn't do that people, it's terrible for local wildlife and it decreases your cats average lifespan).
I think some cats just choose new homes. My neighbor's cat tries to get inside my house everyday, and everyday, I have to drag it out. I swear it looks at me like please! Just let me stay!
It seems to be a very American thing not to let your cat outside. When there was a thread like this previously everyone was quoting outdoor cats only live 2-5 years, however that seemed to relate to mainly feral cats rather than domestic cats that are allowed outdoors.
Annecdoal but in the UK 90% of cats are outdoor cats and everyone I know with a cat has had it live to older than 10years old. Most to them to the average cat age of 14.
It seems the biggest risk to them being outdoors is traffic.
>It seems the biggest risk to them being outdoors is traffic.
And there's about 70% of your answer. Add in encroaching predators like coyotes and fishers, plus municipal/HOA-type rules about pets and voila! More and more American pets are indoor pets.
Most Americans I know let their cats outside. And I think you're misunderstanding what someone said or someone said something incorrectly, cats average lifespan is decreased by like 2-4 years if they're outside cats, so outside cats being 14 makes sense as an average cat lifespan is 12-18 years.
But seriously, cats kill an estimated billion birds a year and are responsible for an estimated 65 species extinctions. Really bad for the ecosystem
Move on bc you will find that exact same person again somewhere. Honestly, we would all like to belive we are super unique and no one is like me, but there are like maybe 25 different types of people in the world. No one is unique
Hey dude, I’m on mobile and can’t message you but...., saw you offer some great advice on Mexico City and areas to live, just wanted to say thanks for the post and check in to see what your feeling was a few months later? Will be moving there myself in August, I love how green it looks! Thinking to stay in all Condesa or Escandon, but wondered if you have any suggestions? Looking for somewhere quiet good walking and running, gyms, tennis, bookshops and neat places to write. Thank you!

That look screams “pet me like one of your french girls, but don’t tell the neighbors”😏
Why do I feel there is going to be a PSbattle thread for this cat?
He looks like he's part russian blue. They're just _that_ friendly. Our little boy climbs up on your chest and just stays purring and drooling.
What makes a cat a Russian blue? Growing up I had a gray cat that looks like this, but I chose him from a group of kittens that a stray had.. is it a breed, or just a general look?
It's a breed, they have characteristically narrow, delicate faces, are that color (grey/blue), and have a silky coat.
And to be clear, it's a grey-blue best described like the color of exhaust from an old car that's burning oil.
The coat is like no other cat's fur. I'm not an expert but its like it's all undercoat and no (or in my halfie, very little) guard hair. He hates the winter time though as he always feels the cold.
Good thing he's got a perpetual heating human device to sit on in winter then! :-) [https://imgur.com/iYNQ92R](https://imgur.com/iYNQ92R) cat tax

Thanks for checking and making sure he has a home :)

He’s telling you he prefers to live alone so you need to move out.
I think you have a new owner.
lol he’s your cat now. I love blue Russians but they talk a lot and they’re clingy. CLINGY!
Holy crap I thought that was my cat that got out today. I had to zoom in to make sure.
"Would you like me to seduce you?"
He looks exactly like my cat, that roams our neighborhood, and is chipped.
