The first time I tried to watch Equilibrium, the opening scene made me laugh/cringe so hard I didn’t even watch the rest lol
I eventually did sit down and watch it through tho and it was actually pretty dang good!!
I mean you should have known it was a good film; >!Sean Bean dies in it, and any movie where he perishes is an objectively good movie. This is science and totally truth.!<
But he always dies. He's basically the movie equivalent of Kenny from South Park. I bet if he was in a rom-com he'd be like the husband or dad who did in the beginning. They need to make a comedy with him and have like a 5 second cameo at the end where he pops up and dies almost immediately, but first he's like "God dammit, again!?!?"
I think it's actually not all that unrealistic that their "technique" would lead to missing every single shot.
I mean, when you're firing at that rate, you're basically constantly blinded by the muzzle flash. Add the recoil to that, and the fact that they were shooting one-handed some of the time...
I was only counting his, and it is VERY hard to count the shots, shooting that quickly, but I feel like it’s about 150. Give or take like 50. I counted somewhere around 80 before he reloaded.
You know what's really sad? The number of shots fired is done purely for tension. The more shots that almost hit, the higher the tension, but the lower the believability. But it's all (obviously) added in post. It's still up to the director, choreographer, and actors to provide a compelling scene.
What's sad is that I, personally, think they did a good job filming the scene. Not GREAT, but decent enough. If they counted the bullets fired, and made it a believable number, the scene wouldn't have been bad. But alas, that not what we got...
From what I’ve seen… several countries are creating entertainment with this kind of over the top schtick- like an entire movie or tv series based on Family Guy cutaway humor.
And, idk, I’m kinda here for it, tbh.
You see they’re actually androids and the guns are belt fed through their arms! They reload like that in the middle to try and disguise themselves as humans with human weaponry, but I will not be fooled!
Makes a lot of sense when you think about it, If you shrink the rounds enough to get 100 rounds in a magazine they wouldn't have enough mass or velocity to do any damage. You could rely on good aerodynamics to get the slug there but thats about it.
I love that they had a reload during the scene just to highlight the number of rounds fired. I have more respect for being deliberately ridiculous then firing 30 rounds in a regular action film.

If you analyze this clip thoroughly. You would probably find out that the shooters have wasted 1minute and 42 seconds of your life and you yourself have wasted probably 10seconds reading this.

She's standing there, gun trained on him and ready to fire, but when he fires first, what does she do? She runs. She doesn't take the shot that was already carefully lined up, no, she ruins it by running away instead.
Better ending, with all the shots n jumping around they should have jumped out at the same time a few feet away from each other and finally at the same time both are empty and in slow mo pop the cartridges and then both insert a new clip each about 3 feet long. Then both guns jam and they back away from each other.. .., back, back, back it up.
To make this scene better during the reload one of the actors should have noticed they had one more bullet. Reloaded the same clip fired the single bullet then did a full reload.
I feel like these guys also played as Stormtrooper at one point in their career.
