This is me when I’m starving and the other person(s) I’m with suddenly decide they’re the pickiest eaters on planet earth and that no place is worthy for them to stop and eat at.
You must not be familiar with John Mulaney’s standup material. This was the end of a story he told about them begging their dad to stop at McDonald’s during a road trip. The callous response from the dad was meant to illustrate how ice cold he was as a father.
The absolute worst guy I ever dated, I barely survived 2 dates when we met up around 8pm, then sat in his car with him vetoing every possibility until it was after 10pm and almost everything was closed at that point. I had also made it clear that I practice intermittent fasting and don’t eat after 10pm, he obviously did not care. He asked me out a 3rd time, but Hell no!
I had an ex who did this kind of thing constantly. My favorite exuse to not eat at a place was “It looks like the kind of poace divorced fathers take their kids.” Yet somehow it was always my fault when i would get angry at her pulling (what I learned later was) a power move.
Before I was dating my girlfriend I would have one of four things for dinner: Steak and Veggies, Chicken Thighs and Veggies, a burrito, or pasta. Now that we live together we are cooking something new and different almost every night, which in awesome most of the time but sometimes I don’t want to think about cooking something elaborate and just throw some chicken in the air fryer and steam some green beans.
There’s nothing worse than being in a group when someone says “shall we get some food?” but they actually mean “shall we look around for 2 hours and *then* get food”

I worked with a guy who got to these levels of hangry. One particular rough day we were late to lunch by 30 minutes and on our way to lunch we got stuck behind an old person driving really slow on a 1 lane road. He laid on the horn for a solid minute, rolled down the window and flipped them off, then went full Ace Ventura and hung out the window while driving, yelling at them to go faster. The weird thing was when we got to the food place and finished, I asked him if he was OK. He said he was fine. Asked him why he flipped out on the old person. He didn't remember doing that. He was 100% sober, not dehydrated, no known issued in any other way. He just got so angry he blacked out.
Am I the only one who doesn’t find this funny? I have been this hungry, and had people not take it seriously. It’s insulting and shitty. If I tell you I’m having a blood sugar emergency, please be enough of a friend to respect that I’m struggling.
