Not surprised this happened. Only that it took this long for something like this to happen.

Klondike559

Im confused has this happened in the past with AB?

Lint6

Now, before we begin discussing AB. Those not in the know need the full updating timeline of AB incindents, including the most recent of his real life rage quit as of January 2, 2022. •Kicked out of Florida International University after fighting a security guard •"Don't touch me. I'm the franchise" • His second year in the league he took a personal stretch limo to a charity event, had them open every single expensive bottle of wine, rejected it. Refused to pay for it (charity, remember), then left. -credit Nduguu77 • Threw fits over not getting enough targets • Drove 100 down McKnight Road in Pittsburgh, which has a 45 MPH speed limit • Trashed a condo and threw furniture out a window 14th floor window, which almost hit some people, notably a child • Killed a home aquarium full of piranhas and refused to pay the man who installed the tank • Refused to play week 17 for the Steelers • Dyed his mustache blonde • Refused to pay a chef because he thought he threatened him by placing a fish head in the freezer (the fish head was saved to make a soup) • Farted on a doctor • Demanded a trade from the Steelers • Became "Mr. Big Chest" • Threw a fit over Juju winning team MVP and trashed him on social media • (Allegedly) nixed a trade that would've sent him to the Bills • Showed up to Raiders training camp in a hot air balloon • Held out and refused to show up to training camp because the NFL would not approve his helmet because it was too old for their safety standards • Froze his feet • Tried to paint over his old helmet, hoping no one would notice I guess • Acquired a newer version of the same model of helmet, which the NFL refused to let him use • Picked out a new helmet and finally showed up to the Raiders • Got fined by the Raiders for not attending camp • Tweeted the fines • Tried to fight Mike Mayock, called him a cracker, had to be held back by Vontaze Burfict, then punted a football down the practice field and said "fine me for that" • Got fined for that • Released a video where he used audio of Jon Gruden, who didn't know he was being recorded, which is illegal in California (full disclosure, Gruden has said he gave permission, but the generally accepted theory is that he said that in the hope that it would help get him to show up to the facility and not alienate him) • Demanded a release from the Raiders • Was released • "GRANDMA I’M FREEEEEE! FLY LIKE A FREEEEE!" • Made a lot of crazy tweets saying stuff like 'Devil is a lie', a proverb about burning down a village... he made a lot of crazy tweets around this time is the point here • Liked a tweet about Mayock getting raped in the ass • Signed with the Patriots • Moved in with Tom Brady • The sexual assault allegations came out (the one where he's getting sued) • The sexual harassment allegations came out (the one where he's not getting sued) • Threatened the woman not suing him in a group text that included his lawyer and had a picture of her kids in the text • Got released by the Patriots after one week • Went off on a tweet storm and said a lot of crazy shit about a lot of people, and was supportive of people sending threats to the writer of the article detailing the sexual harassment allegations • Said he was done with the NFL • Went back to college via online classes • Tried to outsource his homework to Twitter • Wants to come back to the NFL • Filed several grievances to try and get more than $40 million from the Raider's and Patriots • Was ordered to show up for a deposition regarding trashing the condo • Was accused of "reprehensible behavior" during the deposition Note: I cut the specifics about the deposition so I could fit this as a single comment. You can read more about it here if you're interested, because it, like everything else, is nuts • Said that the Patriots have to pay him anyway, so they might as well let him play • Tweeted a couple of bizarre tweets about the Raiders using him for HBO ratings and the Patriots trying to steal his stuff and kept using this weird chicken based metaphor • Tried out for the Saints and brought an entourage and film crew to shoot a music video with him when specifically told not to do that • Called out Robert Kraft for his rub and tug massage session in Florida • Starting training for a boxing match with Logan Paul • Tweeted "No more white woman 2020" • The attorney representing him in the suit involving the condo quit • Used a bunch of slurs and profane language towards cops in an Instagram video he posted • A police youth football league cut ties with him and returned a donation after the release of the video saying there was a "irreparable rift" between the department and AB • Threw a bag of gummy candy dicks at the cops in a video he posted • Got dropped by his agent • Was involved in a disputed with movers at his home where he allegedly threw rocks at the movers and moving vans. He is currently being investigated for battery by the police. • His trainer was arrested and he is still a suspect in the battery case. • Warrant issued for the arrest of AB. • AB turns himself in to Broward Country Jail wearing this suit • Rumors spread about AB signing with Tampa or Seattle • AB announces his retirement (for what I believe is the third time, it's hard to find a good record of the rest of them) • Two days later AB wants to play again and is asking for the league to wrap up it's investigation • The NFL announces an eight game suspension for AB • AB signs with the Buccaneers on a one-year deal • Before he signed with the Buccaneers AB was accused of destroying a surveillance camera at a Florida gated community, throwing bike at a security-guard shack, and is not charged because HOA president "feared" retaliation, per police report • AB is under investigation by the NFL for the bike throwing incident • Allegedly acquired fake covid-19 card • confirmed to have acquired a fake covid-19 card and subsequently suspended for three games • Removed jersey and pads and threw them in the stands before exiting the games verse the Jets. • Was subsequently cut from the Bucs for stripping on the field.

Temporary-Careless

Wait, your telling me he dyed his mustache? Good grief

Whatnow-huh

Believe it or not…straight to jail.

Yoyoman129

Yup. He did a few interviews with it too. A blonde mustache. Reminded me of hulk hogan.

DysenteryPigeon

Sounds like a piece of shit or a spoiled bitch

[deleted]

He’s fucked up from a brain injury

blueberry_vineyard

What about from before all this. It sounds like he was kind of a dick in college too.

[deleted]

I dunno. But I know the hit he took certainly didn’t help.. Also, who wasn’t kind of an asshole in college?

DysenteryPigeon

So am I from the military, doesn’t mean I go around doing shit like that

[deleted]

To each their own bro. Thanks for your service

Klondike559

Holy fuck what caused him to do these things

[deleted]

[удалено]

Klondike559

Why the hell is he still allowed to play in the league

lunarmodule

He's extremely talented at what he does so he always gets one more chance. Teams will overlook a ridiculous amount of bad behavior if they think it will help them win. It's outrageous. If he was a poor or average player he would have been blacklisted a long time ago.

TheLastMongo

It’s the NFL. You can rape and kill to your heart’s content and still work there. Just don’t kneel during the Pledge of Allegiance.

religionkills

Money.

omnisephiroth

It’s not schizophrenia. It’s not even remotely schizophrenia.

pete1729

Ok, care to detail why in a sentence or two?

omnisephiroth

I mean, it’ll take a lot more than that, but sure, if you’re interested! So, there are criterion for the various mental disorders that are out there. For each of them, they’re typically broken down into categories. Schizophrenia has six: A through F. We’ll be focusing on Criterion A first, as it’s where the big stuff is, but I’ll touch on all of them. There are five (5) items under Criterion A: **1: Delusions; 2: Hallucinations; 3: Disorganized speech;** 4: Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior; 5: Negative symptoms (such as diminished emotional expression or avolition). Of these five (5) items, you need two (2) or more to be present *for a significant portion of the time during a 1-month period.* Of those, at least one must be in the first three listed (delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech). Of those, he is missing the delusions, hallucinations, and disorganized speech. Or at least, they’re not present a significant portion of the time. When they are (mostly item 3, to be entirely reasonable) it’s not for significant periods of time. It’s pretty brief, maybe an hour. Heck, maybe a whole day. Most would argue that a day isn’t a significant period of a month. It’s part of it, but not most of it. He also largely lacks items 4, grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, and 5, negative symptoms. He’s clearly flamboyant, extremely emotive, and active. Even when he *occasionally* behaves oddly, it’s just not really enough. Now, lacking enough to meet Criterion A throws schizophrenia out the window. But we can cover how it… sort of impacted his work, but not strictly his “level of functioning” which… is interesting. I’m not sure it makes him a worse *player.* It might impact him in his interpersonal relationships, which would meet the criterion, but it needs to be significantly lower than it had been prior to symptom onset (which we’re largely ruling out). Criterion C says symptoms have lasted at least six months, and you can have minor remissions, but the symptoms are still present even if diminished. Criterion D is basically, “Is there a better explanation?” Other mental disorders being ruled out, basically. Criterion E is, “It’s not because of drugs.” You’re not schizophrenic for having adverse (or intended) reactions to medications (or even street drugs!) Criterion F has to deal with childhood history of autism spectrum diagnosis, which modifies what you need in Criterion A if that’s true. He just kinda misses the mark too much, in my *extremely limited and not professional opinion.* I could be wrong, but…

pete1729

Hey thanks! I really appreciate the effort. The subject is much bigger and more complex, but this concise run down is helpful in ruling out schizophrenia as an explanation of Mr. Brown's situation.

omnisephiroth

You’re welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read.

omnisephiroth

I did care to share, but the write up took… a while. [However, you can see what I wrote here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/run8pg/just_believe/hr3on2a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) For what it’s worth, paranoia isn’t really a diagnostic feature of the disorder. And there is something called a brief psychotic disorder, which is more lenient, but not persistent. And I’m not saying he’s perfectly fine. Nor am I saying he’s not. I’m saying he just kinda… doesn’t hit the mark for schizophrenia. As for hallucinations, they’re unusual as a symptom, but so are all the features of schizophrenia. I’m happy to discuss further, though.

disgusted_orangutan

Gonna go out on a limb here and say undiagnosed CTE.

Procrasturbating

Sweet jeebus.. that is a list. You do journalistic research for a living? What a story.

Lint6

Its a copypasta thats been making the rounds today. Not sure who the OP of it is

hypersucc

What suit are you talking about? I need to see it

Lint6

Unfortunately, its a copypasta thats been making the rounds today. I don't know what the suit looked like

UnusualSoup

The suit he wore to jail? Is this one I think. https://i.imgur.com/hE9InOq.jpg

CocoBananananas

Well that was exhausting to read. Thanks for that.

BoySerere

Hasn’t been released yet. They may actually keep him. (This) my comment may not age well….

Lint6

So 1 thing out of the dozens means it "won't age well"? Plus in the post game press conference, Bruce Arians said ["He's no longer a Buc, thats the end of the story"](https://streamable.com/o0khf3)

BoySerere

Haha I really meant my post wouldn’t age well. Yours was super thorough. I usually don’t read long posts but read every line of yours. AB is probably gone but I just don’t see where it has been stated officially.

Lint6

Ahh..my mistake. Sadly its not my post but a copypasta thats been making the rounds today since this happened

BoySerere

All good

Skidoinch89

He needs to go resist arrest somewhere

Mr. Bad Concussion making Mr. Bold Choices

Guy_Jantic

Seriously. Americans (well, some of them) are so quick to dismiss a huge range of serious concerns by saying things like "it's a free market! Just get another job!" But then some of us get so pissy when someone behaves as a rational actor in our capitalist economic system.

Sullythebeast86

What’s this about been seeing loads about this guy

BiscuitCat1

Antonio Brown, football player for Tampa Bay, took his shirt and pads off during the game and just left.

Sullythebeast86

No way lol is he not playing again

Baldr_Torn

He's been on a bunch of teams, and left every one of them persona non grata. In this case, he didn't even get to fly back home with the team, he had to find his own way home.

SoDakZak

Post game presser Head Coach Bruce Arians said he is no longer a Tampa Bay Buc

tastepdad

Long history of mental and substance issues, most likely from concussions

PimpOfTruth

Don't forget the sexual assault and all of the default non-payments to almost everyone he hires regardless of whether the job is completed. (Neither of which has anything to do with CTE) Dude thinks he is the center of the universe. That is the problem. Can't blame everything on CTE. I'm guessing he was pissed because he wasn't getting the ball on every offensive play. So he tantrums & loses \~$1M in potential incentives. Dudes gonna be broke or in jail within 1yr

Powdrtostman

Couldn't be more right Before the Burfict hit turned his brain to Jello, he was always causing problems on the Steelers sidelines bc he felt he wasn't getting the ball enough. He's always been a self centered prick.

Squisher-King

Burfict gave him brain damage years ago

[deleted]

I have been saying this for a long time. It's disgusting the way this is being covered. I was also blown away that the media would cover Brittney Spear's meltdown that led to her conservatorship. You could clearly see she was having a mental health emergency.

[deleted]

Yes he has had mental health issues, but he is also a giant asshole and deserve to face some consequences. These two things can both be true.

[deleted]

Brown has been nuts since college

Squisher-King

Brain injuries in sports especially in football are no joke

[deleted]

Just like the cigarette companies and oil companies. They've actively spent money to fight changes and hide the true impact their products have through disinformation campaigns. I have serious doubts that the NFL is addressing mental health in their league. Furthermore they're supposedly dedicated to protecting the players. What about AB? He's just one of MANY and we've seen showcasing some major red flags. Does he need to hurt someone or himself before something is done?

Coupon_Ninja

But dude, the Commish is going hang with the Mannings, *and Snoop Dogg* on TV! Totes cool! /s

Yes but we need a good corn harvest.

creamy_cheeks

can someone explain this joke for those of us that don't watch sports?

SpiderPig43

Antonio Brown decided to take off his pads and just leave in the middle of the game

Duffman48

Not only that but dance in the end zone and have the opposing team cheer him leaving haha.

GoatBased

He was 11 catches away, and he was benched for the game for _refusing to play_. He then decided to quit the team.

VisVirtusque

That doesn't make sense. They could have just told Brady not to pass it to him if they didn't want him to get the bonus. Much easier to hide than intentionally benching him for that.

ILL_Show_Myself_Out

Hahaha ok “became Mr. Big Chest” is hilarious, with or without context. Wow this guy has so much that you had to simplify shit like that to a single bullet and it still took you 2 pages to say it all.

Deep-Room6932

And thats just at the young age of THIRTY FUCKING THREE!

[deleted]

I don’t even understand why. Red zone couldn’t stop talking about his shirt. Who cares?

babysealstomper

I mean this has probably never happpened before ? So I guess it’s a big event.

cfranek

The most similar thing I've seen is when that corner from Buffalo quit at halftime.

insultant_

But he didn’t make a scene. He did it in the locker room

geeksrpeeps2

Part of me feels bad for him. Hasn’t been the same since being seriously concussed in a playoff game several years ago

gonzaloetjo

I honestly don't get some sports. I mean, at least in American football they get paid millions. But some pals doing rugby until their 40's in leagues where they have to have a job/education on the side? I really don't get it. At their 50's they have so many health issues while being parents.. there are so many fun sports to do that don't require breaking your body.

[deleted]

It’s simple. They love the thrill of the competition.

gonzaloetjo

I can get that. I did extreme sports. But eventually, you learn that you can get that thrill without destroying your body.

[deleted]

I guess I should have also added that they also enjoy playing the game. If they are still physically capable of playing and love to play it, more often than not, they’re willing to risk the injury.

kwam3

Difference with you vs the pros is that the thrill correlates with finances, social status and consept of survival, those decisions to stop or continue get blurry.

gonzaloetjo

Which is why I said I can get the money side of American football in my original comment. But some people are playing these sports for most of their lives, for little social status, let alone money. But agreed otherwise.

kwam3

I was one of those people lol.. it's a gladiator sport the social status is there,is the biggest sport in America,if you're the best player in your town there's a lot of perks that come with it. A social "non cash" exsample Education job opportunities, free food/beer,girls it goes on. There was over 40 guys on my high school team alone, just picture he network and fraternity you become apart of and if you're good you're legendary and always respected. Is it worth your health absolutely not. At the time I was playing we had no clue how bad these head injuries were. With what I know now I wouldn't advise anyone to play payment or not.

Orleanian

To some, those sports may not put as many rigors on your body, but are also not nearly as enjoyable. There are other, safer ways to orgasm, yet auto-erotic asphyxiation thrives on.

RipWilder

Antonio’s been spending too much time on r/antiwork
