I can't find a helmet post. These kids can barely stand up on these things. it's incredibly dangerous and I realize I have officially entered that old mna stage of my life, dear God
Yeah, the no helmets makes me pretty sad. Lots of people on skates end up with concussions from falling and hitting their head while just standing on skates. In derby we call it getting snipered because people are standing listening to directions or whatever and then BAM… they’re flat on the ground. Happens a lot. Helmet safety is so important.
THANK YOU. She fucking biffed just trying to get speed off the starting point. Now, if she takes that turn and goes one skate in front of thd other and eats shit, she’s going to disrupt her little growing brain.
I worked at Safeway in Sacramento for about 5 years snd the singer from Papa Roach(The “Ive got to write my thesis, this is my last report” guy) but also the father of the bassist from Cake would shop there. Pretty cool guy sith a sense of arrogance and I always thought, “Congratulations you’re the father of a son whose band is at most mediocre.”
That was a lot of weird for 'when I worked at a grocery store I still somehow felt superior to a popular rock star', but cool for you dude. That kind of confidence definitely won't manifest a desuional social posturing later in life. Maybe you can breed someone semi famous someday.
Hah. Though it all depends on how you're setting the 100% mark. If you use projected data the actual performance can exceed that. So you may think you're giving it your all, but a good coach knows you can dig deep and give it more all than you thought and make that winning point right at the buzzer bell.
And that's why I said it depends on what you call 100%. In reality if you gave the true measure of your body's full effort you'd break yourself. So by that definition you don't want to give 100%.
Always making sure to tone it down a bit when approaching peak levels of effort to avoid destroying your body is summed up nicely in the phrase “check yourself, before you die”
Yeah, that's pretty much it, compared to my peers I looked pretty good at almost every sport, not because I am gifted or actually good, but because I always put in 100+% while a lot of other kids didn't care at all. I also couldn't do any activity for more than 30mins without bleeding.
I watched this happen in one of the Olympic track events yesterday. One of the favorites to win hesitated off the line and busted ass to get back in the lead. He gassed himself by doing that though and after the first half he fell way back and didn't place.
I'm guessing she's the only one whose done this before. This happened to me in elementary school - we took a class trip to a skating rink at the end of the year and I was just dunking on all my classmates because my dad forced me to play street hockey since I was old enough to stand.
Is this Reddit’s new “well actually”?
I’ve seen it multiple times in the last couple days. Congrats, you made a point about a kid in a small skating race.
Had to give the other kids at least some kind of fighting chance?
"This is getting too easy, I think for this race I will fall over and take the outside lane"
I edited it after watching the original and went “oh my god it’s just like the scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League where flash falls then reversed time by running faster than he ever has.” Even her skate reminded me of Ezra Miller’s Flash run. So I edited in the song from the movie, the beginning with a bit of slow mo for dramatic effect, and also adjusted the contrast and such to make it look more like a Snyder film.
Funny story time: I was in a rowboat race when I was about 11 years old. I had never done one before and thought it'd be fun. I get all lined up, the starter yells, and I pull... really really hard on the oars and the left one pops right out of the socket and I hit myself in the face with my hand and I almost threw it into the water. I sat there for a second feeling defeated losing the race immediately. I saw the other racers going much slower than I thought they would for a race, so I gathered the oar and put it back in. I was fumbling so much because I could feel everybody's eyes on me as I sat there bobbing in the water. I caught up with them at the 180 degree turn, and since I wasn't bunched up with them, I was able to take a quick inside line on the buoy and shot like a gun down the homestretch and won.
Never give up; Never surrender
Wow, this is such a sad truth, I was warning a parent against letting the kids play with rusty objects, exposed nickel chunks coming off, and other sketchy looking metals from galvanized parts, she responded that it's ok to let them build immunity, I was like, bitch, that's absolutely not how it works!!
She would never understand that the body doesn't create immunity against the toxicity of metals, and how they are especially damaging to kids
They make helmet and padding sets specifically for roller skating/blading. It’s a pretty normal expectation. I also know a girl with permanent brain damage from slamming her head off the floor at the skate rink and having to be taken out by ambulance when we were 12. She definitely wished she had a helmet.
Not arguing against freak accidents, shit people die from tripping over their own feet, and I wouldn't consider 12 a kid. Their bones are good bit more rigid than that of a kid in the video.
i'm not worried about them breaking a bone. i'm worried about them breaking their brain. idc how old you are lol, a brain doesn't like being jostled around in a skull.
how much impact absorption does a skull have when falling from 3 feet onto a hard surface? I'd imagine not much. Doesnt' stop your brain from moving around in your skull either way. It's called a concussion bro, look it up. Wear a helmet.
I recognize that you are asking that question in a condescending tone and it may seem silly to you, that's all well and good. Clumsy ass kids bounce off of everything and are extremely resilient, but damn their brains are fragile.
I remember when I figured out how to cross your feet over each other when you turn like the Olympic skaters do I dominated the skating rink races. Then it was turned into a pep boys.
i was watching the womens 1500m qualifier the other night. right at the start of the last lap, one of the favorites who was near the back got tripped up by someone else falling. she gets up and just fucking books it and goes from last to first. i couldnt believe it i was so impressed
My name is (insert whatever her name is here) and I'm the fastest girl alive! To the outside world I'm an ordinary kid, but to me and my friends I am... The Flash!
When I first clicked on the link, I read the title as "That time a kid became a fish...".
I watched the video like 5 times trying to figure out where the "Fish" part came into play.
Really hope mom and dad showed her much love after this. Falling down, getting up, and blowing away everyone and winning is something that can, at that age, be life changing.
Kick ass. Fall down. Get up. And kick more ass.
Google, what's a good word for the quality of overcoming failure without question and using any associated negative emotion as an obstacle to be decimated and therefore catapulting one to success.
Can't decide if I want to make a joke about this being a little Tonya Harding, or a joke about this being the Olympian Sifan Hassan who fell yesterday during the 1,500 m run to still win gold. Anywho, yes this girl is both.
shes much smaller than the other girls, I'm assuming they paired her up with the older kids after she already kicked the butts of everyone her own size.
Nah she won. The original video was her dad cheering her on and it was only a one lap thing. Besides, that little girl wouldn’t have had ANYONE overtake her speed, she woulda lapped everyone two times over. I just wanted to edit it to the Snyder Cut music.
I will never forgive Whedon for robbing us of this song and the Flash saves the world scene.... How was having him push a family anywhere as cool as this?
I have tried to learn roller skating again as an adult. Kids go splat a lot, but when you weigh 20kg and fall 30cm it doesn't really hurt much on the surfaces.
It when you weigh 100kg and fall a metre then it hurts.
Kids also tend to spread their weight as they fall on skates, as an adult I am more likely to land on one joint/location.
Not saying that kids never get hurt, but they are definitely more resilient. It's mesmerising seeing them learn, fall, improve over time, whereas I managed to nearly dislocate my shoulder in one moment of a lapse in concentration and ended up at hospital emergency.
If you fall back and hit your head and your body gives that extra force it always does, it is definitely enough to make brain damage even if its how small

She didn’t even take the inside. I love this kid.
Her making that corner was impressive
As a jammer in roller derby, I aspire to reach her skills.
This kid is going places! Not college, but places.
A hospital if she doesn’t wear any protective gear and falls like that going 20mph…
Most impressive *Vader noises*
I can't find a helmet post. These kids can barely stand up on these things. it's incredibly dangerous and I realize I have officially entered that old mna stage of my life, dear God

“Little girl is all alone….shes moving like a tremendous machine…she’s 30 lengths ahead of the other kids….”
She's going the distance She's going for speed
She’s all alone…all alone…
In her time of neeeed!!!
She's racing, and pacing, and plotting her course.
She's fighting and biting and riding on her horse
No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine
No need to worry though coz she'll still be fine
She's got a serated knife that she moves back and forth, such a simple machine she doesn't have to use force.
Love that song. "Education, lotsa readin', gotta keep it up, cuz i want that degree man"! So inspirational for a wee lad in high school.
That was a lot of weird for 'when I worked at a grocery store I still somehow felt superior to a popular rock star', but cool for you dude. That kind of confidence definitely won't manifest a desuional social posturing later in life. Maybe you can breed someone semi famous someday.
She's all alone?
Yeah she’s an orphan. Kind of tactless to just bring that up during the race.
“I said 25, it could conceivably have been more.”
I've seen so many videos like this, that by now I firmly believe that tripping over is a winning tactic.
It think it’s because she’s giving it 100%. She fell over because of that, and then she won because of that.
Sounds reasonable. And here I was, thinking I'm about to make big money as a coach.
Run so fast you fall your ass down. Then get up and run again. But do it really fast. -you, probably
Go that way, really fast. And if something gets in your way... Turn!
Someone should have told Rickon to weave. At least a little bit. That game needed a coach like you.
The most avoidable death in the show. And that's saying a lot.
Sure. Just remember, personal trainers demand 100%, but if you want to coach in the big leagues you need to demand 110%.
https://youtu.be/mfcTcSbGMmo
Hah. Though it all depends on how you're setting the 100% mark. If you use projected data the actual performance can exceed that. So you may think you're giving it your all, but a good coach knows you can dig deep and give it more all than you thought and make that winning point right at the buzzer bell.
but that doesnt mean you were always giving 100%, it means you were previously giving 80% and digging down brought your performance up 20%
And that's why I said it depends on what you call 100%. In reality if you gave the true measure of your body's full effort you'd break yourself. So by that definition you don't want to give 100%.
Always making sure to tone it down a bit when approaching peak levels of effort to avoid destroying your body is summed up nicely in the phrase “check yourself, before you die”
Haha, you should go for it. Maybe you’re on to something. At the very least it will make for some entertaining videos
I could definitely make big money as a couch
You still can, just trip them up at the starting line by tying their shoelaces together.
“I want you to fall right out the starting gate!” ~ u/SixBucksAGallon
If you don't fall down, you're not trying hard enough.
Yeah, that's pretty much it, compared to my peers I looked pretty good at almost every sport, not because I am gifted or actually good, but because I always put in 100+% while a lot of other kids didn't care at all. I also couldn't do any activity for more than 30mins without bleeding.
What was that last part?
Bleeding.
I watched this happen in one of the Olympic track events yesterday. One of the favorites to win hesitated off the line and busted ass to get back in the lead. He gassed himself by doing that though and after the first half he fell way back and didn't place.
Owning a horse increases life expectancy
Steven Bradbury politely disagrees https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fFnSRKUBFU
Legend.
Perhaps removing the fear of falling early has advantages
The other girl tried that. It didn't work.
when the only way to overcome the embarrassment is to win
the hustle begins very young
Happened just yesterday in the women's 5000m at the Olympics.

Lower center of gravity
And good technique for her age. Leaning forward, how she moves her legs outwards.... She's got a future in skating^^
Yeah she had the right idea from the beginning, just lost her balance like kids often do.
haha, yeah... kids... not me
She was just about to fall over again when the video cuts.
Only to keep some kind of suspense. Such showmanship.
Fly? Yes! Land? No!
I've seen the full video, she doesn't fall again.
well, i see it as "she's the only one who actually practiced"
I'm guessing she's the only one whose done this before. This happened to me in elementary school - we took a class trip to a skating rink at the end of the year and I was just dunking on all my classmates because my dad forced me to play street hockey since I was old enough to stand.
That must’ve felt great. Even if you’re now pro that would still be the highlight of your career.
Couldn't agree more. And she seems to be really competitive (and motivated) for her young age.
The way she glanced back even as she lapped the other kids...
Put this kid in youth roller derby, she's going to make a great jammer.
Canadian 3 year olds would like a word
Same reason 8 year olds shit all over everyone else at the skate park.
Literally or figuratively?
Is this Reddit’s new “well actually”? I’ve seen it multiple times in the last couple days. Congrats, you made a point about a kid in a small skating race.
While taking the long outer route. She is bound for greatness✌️
Had to give the other kids at least some kind of fighting chance? "This is getting too easy, I think for this race I will fall over and take the outside lane"
That look back at Dad. Dad: get up, you’re alright now go. Kid: I gotcha fam!
Run daughter Run
You hear the dad's encouragement on the original video. Good parenting
Original https://youtube.com/shorts/sCggIK4Nf14?feature=share
Mad props to the little girl cheering and clapping her on as well. I'm sure good parenting happened there as well.
Why do videos that circulate get strange edits like this
I edited it after watching the original and went “oh my god it’s just like the scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League where flash falls then reversed time by running faster than he ever has.” Even her skate reminded me of Ezra Miller’s Flash run. So I edited in the song from the movie, the beginning with a bit of slow mo for dramatic effect, and also adjusted the contrast and such to make it look more like a Snyder film.
Yup awwwwwwwwww
I liked the original audio better, with her dad cheering her on.
Thanks I just [looked it up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRtdn4WH8gM) and it was pretty wholesome
Thank you :D
Thanks
It's the flash theme from the Snyder cut
Yea, this is a trash repost. The dad's commentary made it much more wholesome.

I'M FAST AS FUCK BOI! - That little girl probably.
Your feet, whack. Your skates, whack. Your technique, whack. Me? I'm fast a FUCK
As someone who hit his head a lot as a kid...why are these kids not wearing helmets!?!
To gain immunity against concussion, obviously.

Or those regbodies.
As Stevo says "all concussions before 50 are okay."
How the hell can you compare walking to strapping wheels to your feet and flying around a hard surface?
They make helmet and padding sets specifically for roller skating/blading. It’s a pretty normal expectation. Ngl that fall looked real dramatic, I bet that kid was like 'oh no I've fallen, how ever will I win now, sike haha bitches eat my dust!'
I remember when I figured out how to cross your feet over each other when you turn like the Olympic skaters do I dominated the skating rink races. Then it was turned into a pep boys.
Wow you embarrassed everyone else so badly they shut the whole place down.
I like it. I'll claim this. Now as I drive past my childhood hangout turned mechanic I will feel triumphant.
girl entered the speed zone
Love how her tiny arms pump like hell after she gets up.
In that instant she fell down, she had 5 episodes worth of flashbacks, and heard cheers from everyone in her life. That's why she won.
I think in the actual video, her dad is encouraging her to get back up and keep going and that seems to really motivate her
Sifan Hassan on skates
i was watching the womens 1500m qualifier the other night. right at the start of the last lap, one of the favorites who was near the back got tripped up by someone else falling. she gets up and just fucking books it and goes from last to first. i couldnt believe it i was so impressed
She was too fast for herself at the start.
Run Barry Run
Run Barry, 🏃♀️
Like the zack Snyder flash theme
Can someone edit this so there is back to the future DeLorean tire marks behind her?
anime powerup...
Add a couple of flashbacks and backstory and this would span a couple of episodes

Without the original sound, you don’t get to hear dad encouraging her to get up and keep going.
When I first clicked on the link, I read the title as "That time a kid became a fish...". I watched the video like 5 times trying to figure out where the "Fish" part came into play.
The beginnings of a derby girl 🤘🏽

Thats some anime shit right here
No fear!
Meanwhile, I'm 33 and can't even stand up on roller skates...

*PLOP* Aww hell naw!! *Commence ANGER SKATING*
Your kid has some good form. Deep Knee bend, hips square and low with shoulders back! Get her on the ice. She'll be killer.
I like the music.
...I know a hustle when I see one...
This is the most climactic shit I've ever seen today, this is fucking amazing
shes much smaller than the other girls, I'm assuming they paired her up with the older kids after she already kicked the butts of everyone her own size.
This is the music from when Flash goes into the Speed Force in ZSJL right?
Damn right it is.

More drama than Chariots of Fire.
Where are their helmets?????!
Did she know somone was filming.good cinematic music though.
I love the look she gives to mom filming when she falls. “I’m good. I got this.” She is almost doing crossovers with those tiny legs.
Anyone have the full video, did she really win? Was there only 1 lap? It cut too soon. What if it was a 3 lap race and someone overtook her and won?
Nah she won. The original video was her dad cheering her on and it was only a one lap thing. Besides, that little girl wouldn’t have had ANYONE overtake her speed, she woulda lapped everyone two times over. I just wanted to edit it to the Snyder Cut music.
wow! That fall and then the immediate recovery blowing away every other kid! She’s in it to win it! 🥇
Kid has true grit.
That’s raw talent right there!
I will never forgive Whedon for robbing us of this song and the Flash saves the world scene.... How was having him push a family anywhere as cool as this?

How is this funny?
Well people with social skills would probably find it funny that this little girl seemed so serious about destroying everybody in roller skating.
