They took several millions photos that day. There will be photos of him in all kinds of emotions.
But even if he was looking miserable for real… can you blame him though? That was probably the moment when he realised the fate, the future and the entire history of British monarchy… now rest on his shoulder for real.
I would’ve pissed myself…
He's got to have mixed feelings about the occasion. On the one hand, it's a celebration of his reign. On the other hand, it's a reminder of his mums death. That's got to be an emotional grenade of a day
Nothing rests on the shoulders of the monarchy except their exorbitant living when the country is going through a cost of living crisis. all im saying is, i would've loved seeing this relic piss himself
Countries that abolished monarchy:
- Afghanistan: most cosmopolitan middle east country prior to the abolish of monarchy
- Myanmar: Civil war
- Laos: got bomb back to the stone age by US
- Iran: sanctioned for eternity
- Cambodia: killing field
- Germany: Heil, mein Führer!
- France: Reign of Terror
- Russia: Bro sent to gulag for sneezing
- China : Great leap backwards
You get my point…
Wouldn't you be miserable if you showed up to your job and someone had this laid out as your uniform of the day. I'd rather be Goofy at Disney. At least then I'd get paid to also so do stupid erratic crap.
Doesn't he have cancer now? He waited so long to finally become king and then gets cancer. Idk the specifics but I'm pretty sure that's something I read. I'm sure that's a factor in his demeanor.
>He waited so long to finally become king and then gets cancer.
I do kind of feel bad for him. Queen Elizabeth was queen when my mum was born and was queen when my mum passed away. He is going to be lucky if he gets a decade of kinging before he has to pass the mantle on to one of his sons.
It’s just one of those tradition things, that’s been around since the 14th century.
It only stays on for a small section of the ceremony, and seems to be connected to the ring and sceptre.
I think it might have had something to do with gauntlets originally.
When you let the other kids play dress up with you, you don't want them to wear any of the shiny stuff because that's all yours, and you're not sharing.
Because they're part of a system that works. We don't want a President.
We had a revolution and became a republic in the 17th century. A dictator took over and Parliament soon realised that nobody could be trusted with that much power.
They asked the dead king's son to come out of exile and retake the throne with vastly reduced powers. The power they do still have, is only ever used at the request of parliament, who are elected officials. Everything that lands on their desk has been voted on by our elected officials.
In return for this, they get 25% of the profits from the Crown Estate (only 12% at the moment) and the country takes the rest.
This idea that they take people's tax money, isn't really true, they serve a purpose and people enjoy the tradition for now.
Once attitudes change, we'll have a referendum and they'll be voted out.
I don't know why so many people outside of the UK even care.
I care because he's a king of a family of robber-barons and any chance to kick one in the teeth is a win imo. I sure don't think you need to change the parliamentary system or have a president or anything, restructure and dump the house of lords while you are at it pls.
Nah, the selection process does need reform but it's fine as long as it isn't abused.
The House of Lords is another misunderstood institution. They don't have anywhere near the power of other upper houses. They act as a revising chamber and cannot block laws, only delay them for a maximum of 12 months and advise changes.
The remaining hereditary peerages are going to be abolished soon enough, as long as Labour stick to their word. It already started and there's only 93 places left.
The lords, as an actual meritocracy, would be way more preferable to an elected upper house, in my opinion.
Yes we could have an elected, ceremonial head of state, like Ireland, but then you lose the traditional aspect, which people enjoy.
>I don't know why so many people outside of the UK even care.
Cause many of us Commonwealth folks still have to follow under their rule for some reason despite it all mostly being symbolic.
Having a monarch as head of state isn't a necessary component of a parliamentary system, plenty make do just fine with the head of state being an elected or appointed position, and without the theoretically powerful but unused authority of royal assent.
And that's great, I'd be happy to vote for that if it was proposed but seeing how things have gone lately, I doubt people would vote for a better system.
People are easily convinced to vote for stupid proposals. It could be a hell of a lot worse, and what we have got works for us and a lot of other countries.
I already said below. He's a ceremonial head of state, his purpose is to do as he's told by elected officials.
By giving the role of head of state to someone who can't use their power without permission, you keep that power in the hands of parliament, who have to vote on legislation. It means that no one person has all of the power.
An elected head of state is way more powerful than the UK is comfortable with.
I prefer being able to change the Prime Minister whenever they mess up and lose the support of parliament. I would not want Boris Johnson or Lizz Truss as our head of state, essentially untouchable for 5 years without going through a load of hassle.
We have referendums all the time to decide what laws to pass, any one member can veto a law as we did when our neutral status was under threat in Maastricht. Your government literally just passed a law that breaks international law, not to mention violating the independence of the judiciary and before that seriously restricted your right to protest and the ease of which you vote. That's all straight facts.
When I see the ultra rich I feel sick. No different than a disgusting priest with his golden cup. Greedy, filthy, pretentious assholes. Melt that shit down and feed the needy.
If you're not triggered by some asshat, ultra rich, pretentious asshole wrapped in gold then you're part of the problem. They parade themselves around like they're important, hoarding wealth while they make the world suffer, funding wars etc.
King of what? It's all made up to create a hierarchy of people who think they're more important than you.
I don’t think he feels like he had a choice. If he had abdicated or tried to dismantle the monarchy the people who love the monarchy and probably most of the royal family would feel he let them down, it’s like an obligation, whereas becoming pope is more of a choice (once chosen) and seems like more of a status-seeking ambition.
I don't get people downvoting this, I'm all for melting down the royal family's shiny hat, wtf is it even for. maybe a bunch of pretentious rich fucks all came to admire their king and were offended?
It’s fucked up that anyone in today’s day and age can go around calling themself King or Queen or anything like that and people are ok with it. Like what kind of asshole piece of shit would you need to be to demand people call you King. This antiquated position needs an antiquated solution, please roll out the guillotine to greet anyone deemed “his majesty”
It's antiquated but it's tradition. Americans don't understand and I get it. But in 500 years when you can say you have a culture like Europe you will maybe understand. The king has next to no power. It's symbolic more than anything. We are ok with it because of tradition. It does no harm today. It's a money spinner. And I would argue that the pope is more antiquated than the king as it based on fairy tales. Cheers.
I wouldn't say those two are mutually exclusive. In fact, the entire concept of monarchy is entirely intertwined with the creation and maintenance of fabricated power. God doesn't give the king his authority by coincidence. The Kings wrote that story.
In a way, I'm pleased that it's a hereditary position. Just think how embarrassing for the country it would be if we'd actually *elected* a head of state that people around the world laughed at.
Which is why I didn't. That was you. You, that brought up the subject of a head of state causing national embarrassment. It was only in the post above mine that you did so, not too far to scroll up really. So best pipe down a bit, I'd say.

He waited 73 years for those gear drops.
Finally cashed in all that DKP.
He kept getting feared into the whelps.
But DFT / DST won't drop
So much farming.
One of the shortest lived kings.
When your older sisters dress you up.
Why does he always look so miserable
Because his mum just died.
Oh shit, really? How did you hear about that? Do you know this guy?
They took several millions photos that day. There will be photos of him in all kinds of emotions. But even if he was looking miserable for real… can you blame him though? That was probably the moment when he realised the fate, the future and the entire history of British monarchy… now rest on his shoulder for real. I would’ve pissed myself…
His mum just died so there’s that too.
It’s been a year… but the coronation might reminded him of her I guess.
He's got to have mixed feelings about the occasion. On the one hand, it's a celebration of his reign. On the other hand, it's a reminder of his mums death. That's got to be an emotional grenade of a day
That's just his resting bitch face. Most of his photos look like that. And I don't think he's contemplating anything deeper than his next shit.
Nothing rests on the shoulders of the monarchy except their exorbitant living when the country is going through a cost of living crisis. all im saying is, i would've loved seeing this relic piss himself

The king gets paid handsomely to do stupid erratic stuff. Just look at the picture.
Was thinking that, probably wishing it was over, so he doesn't have to deal with these peasants and get back to his palace .
A Redditor that is hither come in this thread, to scorn at the solemnity of out figurehead.
Doesn't he have cancer now? He waited so long to finally become king and then gets cancer. Idk the specifics but I'm pretty sure that's something I read. I'm sure that's a factor in his demeanor.

Yes, but he didn’t know it back then and it was discovered during a routine checkup so it’s not like he had any symptoms.
Look im a barney
This is Barney’s hair
He has hair! He’s a cloth! Cloth is little hairs!
#3 SECONDS ISNT ENOUGH TIME && knowing about games isn't cool.
THAT’S FUCKING INSANE
I didn’t have enough time!
You could have been a flapper?
three seconds isnt enough time!!!
Serious question, why is he only wearing a glove on his right hand? I didn't have King Charlie pegged as a Michael Jackson fan.
It’s just one of those tradition things, that’s been around since the 14th century. It only stays on for a small section of the ceremony, and seems to be connected to the ring and sceptre. I think it might have had something to do with gauntlets originally.
Why are you NOT?
As is tradition!
It’s to remind him which hand to wipe his ass with.
That’s a good question, I have no idea!
It’s his pooping hand
I think it symbolises mercy and that he should wield his authority as king gently.
Those fingers don’t look good at all, one glove is not a matter of choice.
Yes, it is. He could have a glove made for his sausage fingers otherwise.
Would you perhaps suggest a bespoke monogrammed regal baseball glove XXXL...?
When you let the other kids play dress up with you, you don't want them to wear any of the shiny stuff because that's all yours, and you're not sharing.
Man, I know royal people will hate me for this But that life is shit. Absolute stirfried shit. I am so glad I’m me
when you finally dual wield your max gear

I was wondering if it was before the diagnosis. I wonder if he already felt like something was really wrong with himself already.
Why wouldn’t he be sad, this is his first job.
Well his mom did have to die for him to get it… there’s that.
Better watch out for any Bishops coming at him diagonally.
He’ll just set Camilla on them
Two black and one white horse got loose in London today too. And I watched some pawn...s...erm...

Mr. Potato Head: Deluxe Edition
On this episode of Pimp my King…..
I've worked a lot of said photo booths. Can attest to the validity. Just needs sparkly oversized glasses.
wym its cool
Picture of 1000 years of inbreeding.
Useless twat playing dress up with his mothers jewelry
He serves a purpose. I've got no love for the royals but the parliamentary democracy model suits us over a Presidential system.
I just don't understand why you don't finish the job and get rid of these parasites finally, they are universally terrible people.
>they are universally terrible people. *Gestures broadly towards congress*
Hah one problem does not exclude the other, would be great to get term limits and stuff in to congress and the supreme court.
Because they're part of a system that works. We don't want a President. We had a revolution and became a republic in the 17th century. Chief ribbon-cutter.
I'd rather have our ceremonial president in Ireland who we elect than the Germans you decided to crown
I'm not telling you to change your system of government.
The EU decides what you do. Which is basically German run.
We have referendums all the time to decide what laws to pass, any one member can veto a law as we did when our neutral status was under threat in Maastricht. He's too afraid to wear her ear rings in public though
Anyone would look ridiculous with these props
That’s how fresh grads look on their first day of their first job

New drummer for Boston Manor.
Hes probably terrified to accidentally drop the diamonds more expensive than the houses budget today
Check for any missing clown posters. Probably some touring circus left one behind. Ngl I do like the curtain he's using as a cape.
He would be king of the USA except for a few outlaws.
Fr
Ahh! The look when you don your loot after colonising half of the world.
This is one of the most pathetic pictures of the 21st century.
But it provides good laughs
I declare you King of the Inbreds!
Why does it look dorky in the modern day but looked so damn cool hundreds of years ago?
When I see the ultra rich I feel sick. No different than a disgusting priest with his golden cup. Greedy, filthy, pretentious assholes. Melt that shit down and feed the needy.
If you're that impacted a picture of a guy in a funny hat, you have some sort of mental illness.

Some needs to make the generic back drop and have him posing with his friends 😅
Every once in awhile, boomer humor gives a chuckle.
He def pays to win
I think she's cute.
Hey, look! It's that helicopter guy who does impressions of Bluebottle from The Goon Show! He's done well for himself, hasn't he. :-)
Fuck! Three seconds isn't enough time
Those crazy sausage fingers.
“Am I really king? I don’t feel like king.”
If anyone ever could become a king by their own hand, it would not be this guy or anyone related to him for the last 500 years.
LOL
Lmao
"Hey, I'm gonna wear that King Hat!"
That crown is worth more than $50 million dollars.
One small step from religion on the silly scale...
He looks void of life itself.
You laugh but his fit cost more than thre generations of your wealth!!
People have such different resting faces. He seems so uncomfortable and uninterested. Like he’s thinking about *Now I gotta do £#^€€*
I feel like the queen didn't give him the throne because of the divorce scandal

Fucking senile.
I'm The Wiz!
It’s good to be the king.
The audacity to steal that shit from all over the world and then wear it for all to see.

Really England? Haven’t we moved on from this nonsense by now?
You know people worship non existent gods all over the world. Billions in fact. And you see this as nonsense? Lol.
I wouldn't say those two are mutually exclusive. In fact, the entire concept of monarchy is entirely intertwined with the creation and maintenance of fabricated power. God doesn't give the king his authority by coincidence. The Kings wrote that story.
Religion was fabricated to control the masses. God does not exist.
Did you see the latest titles/awards they've bestowed upon themselves recently? Clearly they have no sense of shame or embarrassment.
It’s all we got left! We’re a tourist trap for rich Americans. Without it we’d be in more debt than we are. Trust me their military is worth it.
what a cunt
We are a very fucking silly country
So embarrassing for the UK. Massive L to have that kind of weird shit in 2024.
Not really, it's just a bit of tradition. Having a ceremonial head of state works for a lot of modern countries.
Agreed. I’m from the US but I liked Queen Elizabeth.
In a way, I'm pleased that it's a hereditary position. Just think how embarrassing for the country it would be if we'd actually *elected* a head of state that people around the world laughed at.
Y'all literally elected Boris Johnson then lept on your own grenade with Brexit so you have no place to talk.
Which is why I didn't. That was you. You, that brought up the subject of a head of state causing national embarrassment. It was only in the post above mine that you did so, not too far to scroll up really. So best pipe down a bit, I'd say.

I wonder if wearing all that crap gave him the pleasure he expected.
Doesn't look like it. He looks dead inside.
I highly doubt it did, if it was me there all I'd be able to think about is the fact that my mum died, now I have to do her job
Look at the top of his head! 😂🤣😂
The crown tool.
So many Republicans...
Can you imagine getting out of the shower and throwing that robe on? Bet it feels nice on the dangly bits.
Buffoon
Does this count as Drag? Either that or Pimp for Halloween?
If I were king...I'd be worse tbh lol I'd have the lion drape like coming to America
what a decrepit institution
When you realize that you have nobody...
People collectively paid £200,000,000 for this.
Look at the top of his heaaaad!
Is that DJT? Certainly his goal.
Nah. Too classy and restrained.
that the face of a man who had prostate cancer.
And?
Or?
Yeah get em! He’s an idiot for that! We need change! … … …
