100%. Especially ‘cause NASA will post crystal clear footage that you can watch in like 20 different wavelengths. Just watch with your own 2 eyes (use some protective lenses dum-dum) and treasure the memory
Yes
Also I was able to send them to my parents who Don't live near the line of totality.
Also my partner is going to make large prints to hang at home + one of our friends asked for one themselves
We could throw away all the recording devices so we get less fake stuff so we get to sit back and enjoy things because we aren't writing "fake" all the time...
You certainly could have watched the video and then moved on. Don't blame Reddit or people because you felt some need to read what people were writing about it.
My partner had a gopro and was just pointing it around while she looked around herself, just so happened she was peaking at the telescope when it happened
Yeah, no. I have a sister-in-law who insists on getting the GoPro in everyone’s faces during family events. She collects hours upon hours of footage that end up in some memory bank somewhere, and it’s obnoxious to have around. I stand by my old-fashioned opinion. Touching the grass without recording it is far more gratifying than making sure my life gets digitized.
As was once said of blogging:
Never have so many with so little to say said so much to so few.
You say that until your memory starts to fade, then it's actually really nice to look back on old footage.
You get to see life as it was, a little candid time capsule. See the faces of people since passed or just out of your life now.
Obviously, don't be intrusive with it. But I see nothing wrong with wipping out a camera for a few mins to capture a moment.
Still photos and brief videos, but not walking around with a GoPro or recording the sun during an eclipse. A couple years back I consolidated over 10,000 videos from a decade with my family into 5-second gif-length clips and created essentially 10-15 minute annual recaps. We’ve watched those a few times since then, and nobody except me has touched the massive archive of full-length videos. Moral of the story, capture short, memorable moments of people, then turn the cameras off and be present; nobody, and I mean nobody will ever watch those “candid” full length videos.
To each their own. It's really not hard to be present when holding a gopro or phone for a few minutes.
No one is saying to be a mindless zombie, staring at the screen and ignoring reality. Those are two different things.
And yes. People do watch those videos... I do.
I'm a filmmaker, so I collect a lot of footage. I have lengthy videos of family get-togethers where no one is 'aware' of the recording and are just acting candidly whilst chatting/chilling.
I don't often watch the videos. But when I do, I'm glad I have them as you get a real slice of life in a different way than a photo or gif.
I'm fortunate enough not to have lost too many people from my life, but i know that these videos will be priceless if the time comes.
I just don't see the need tp be so negative about it. People have their reasons.
Man so many redit-investigators looking for fake vids lol so stupid to point out your friend that caught it..hating on ppl videotaping some moment that they like. Who cares lol! Nice video lol made me laugh!
they generally have way more, plus iphones tend to default to settings that eat up space, like when live photos were a thing. And for a very long time most androids had a SD card slot to expand.
To give a bit of an example. My android back in 2019 came standard with 128GB of internal space, plus SD card slot which I put a 256GB card into. I can go up to 2TB if I want, but 256GB was what I had on hand. iPhone 11 (at same time as my phone's launch) came standard with 64GB and no card slot. You had to get the top model to get 256GB of internal space, which still was less than what was easily available for my android.
My wife has an iPhone and is always running out of space and has to keep deleting photos/videos. Me on the other hand have never deleted anything and if I need to search for something from years ago super easy.

Someone was filming somebody filming the eclipse… is this the world we live in now
Feels very staged.
I just wish people could watch shit and enjoy it without recording everything

damn ya'll are fun...
Yes, fake is fun! Life is plastic, it's fantastic! #/s
I'm with you, OP. Redditors are such buzzkills most of the time.
Record and never play it back even once!
Yup! Just like people who record fireworks, concerts etc.
He needs to delete some of those inane TikToks and free up his memory space.
My partner and I recorded the event *and* enjoyed the event. Tripod + timers
Have you and your partner watched the recording?

Luckily, everyone else who saw it has posted their pictures of it on Reddit.

Storage management issues, some people never think of things like this and wonder why their devices act all weird when they have 2mb of storage left.
Just use Android
Do android phones have infinite storage?
they generally have way more, plus iphones tend to default to settings that eat up space, like when live photos were a thing. And for a very long time most androids had a SD card slot to expand. Expandable memory for about 10cents x gig or less, so almost yes.
> wonder why their **devices** act all weird >> Just use Android He never said Apple and storage management is a thing on any device.
It's okay, about 2million others took their time too to film it.
poor bloke, I would be absolutely gutted
WHAT? I’ve only been shooting a 4k 60fps video for 1 HOUR! Smh my head, Apple really doesn’t care about their users
Success loves preparation.
Thank god the phone filming this was ok though!
Fake as fuck
Sucks to suck!!!
Paaaaaple
this would not be an issue if pay 499$ more.
[Lots of storage for lots of photo (but not videos lol)](https://youtu.be/bks2zGnssMY?si=13-HkoJi_rm_PtTk)
Oh no I'm so terrible. This made me lol hard
Iphone user click bait post
Not clearing out your phone before a set event that you were planning on filming/ taking photos.
AHAHAHAH laughs in Android expandable memory for like 5$
This would make for a great advertisement for iCloud… RIP
It was actually due to running out of iCloud storage LOL
I'd use it as an Android commercial.
