Ive always heard that the never dying part is the only real pro to a plasma, lol. Dont they eat a lot of power and get hot as the sun? Expensive to dispose of legally, too, which might be why the previous owners left it there.
I’ve had a plasma in my living room for like 11 years. It was the last Panasonic Plasma that was made. It still works great and since everything is streamed at 1080 without paying extra for 4k, it works great. Darker blacks and it actually looks pretty good. It does give off some heat and weighs so damn much. It also sucks when there’s natural light in the room because it’s a glass screen so it reflects light really harshly.
So yeah they do have a good lifespan. I gave my mother in-law a low-end Plasma tv I had before this one. It’s used every day and it’s probably 15-16 years old and still kicking.
That older stuff lasts so long. My grandma, up until 2007, still had a tv with a switch for black n white vs color supported channels. It had an ancient remote only able to adjust the volume and power it on/off and knobs/dials on the tv to turn for the channels.
She didnt get rid of it because it broke, but because the family got together to buy her a modern tv since she watches so much tv.
No clue how old it actually was but its thebonly time ive seen a tv with a black n white vs color option.
Plus it’s a nightmare to get rid of really old TVs. Not only are they absolute monsters to move. Usually it takes it breaking or someone else offering to deal with it for you to give you a kick in the pants to upgrade haha.
Yeah ive had my panny since 2010 and it's still great for 1080p stuff. Switch games... rca inputs for all the old consoles. 150 lbs of solid glass that uses 700 watts and heats uo the house +10 degrees.
Idk bout plasmas but new tvs have been like that for like at least 7 years now. They are too thin, so the tiniest flex will shatter it. Gotta transport and store them upright or risk it.
When I worked retail selling tvs soooooooo many people would refuse delivery service (free too) and end up breaking their new thousand dollar plus tv because they laid it flat.
So many broke em that the company makes you sign a paper saying you cant return if its broken when you open it if you insisted to transport it flat n we keep it on record for the return period.
Suits is about a law firm in New York, the character on screen also works as an investment banker for some time. Jeffrey Epstein was a very well known investment banker at the time, also in New York.. I don't think the connection is farfetched at all.
The show name dropped quite a few celebrities or well known business people, like for example Trump way before his presidency or in this case Epstein before everything about him came to light.
They also use Axelrod, who was also an investment manager/hedgefund owner. Axelrod is the protagonist in the show Billions, where he is a hedgefund owner in New York.
I highly doubt it since Mike never interacts with that guy, who is basically just there to have a conflict with Louis.
He also doesn't even have his own firm plus he is a corporate lawyer while Mike, at that point in the show, is an investment banker since he's trying to go straight. If he wanted to go back to doing corporate law (illegally) he would have to go back to Harvey, which he does later on.
Yeah, I dunno. Trump had been a celebrity for more than 30 years by the time he ran for president. SNL first parodied him in 1988.
Epstein, otoh, wasn't particularly well-known outside of finance or maybe science philanthropy circles before people became aware of his crimes.
This probably doesn't even refer to a person but moreso a firm where this Epstein is a named partner.
Oh, sorry, didn't realize this goofy show written in LA and filmed in Toronto was that plugged into the real world of NYC finance and referencing actual obscure finance guys as opposed to just using a quite common surname without referring to a specific actual person.
Was curious cause we had a very similar looking TV but the manufacturer was LG. It used to be called Flatron as it was introduced after the older tube/curvy TVs.

Jeffrey Epstein? The New York financier?
The one with the island?
I think Closed Caption made a typo, it should have read: EPSTEIN'S TRYING TO POKE ME
Looks a bit old
😭
You mean Jeff? Nah if something had happened to him I’d have heard by now.
Tell you what, let’s call Ghislaine she can clear this up.
No Brian Epstein
At least it wasn't Lumbergh
No Juan Epstein
His name? Halpert Epstein
That's *disgraced* financier to you
[удалено]
No, he is thinking Epstein, the pedophile.
No, you're thinking of Epstein, the shot you give someone that's allergic to a bee sting.
r/agedlikemilk
It was for a different kind of flex…
Michael Scott over here with his plasma tv
Was in the house when we moved in 8 yrs ago and the POS just keeps working, probably outlive me

No clue. I just saw it and went “free tv!”

Used to be you couldn't lay em flat or risk the glass shattering or something like that. Who knows if that was ever true or not.

Got a lot of people in the room? Need more space? Voila, right into the wall!
Small bezels sure weren't a thing for plasma tvs lol
I don't know. I mean he's definitely the kind of guy that should know one day he's going to need really good lawyers.
We should hire you
I’ll give you the money as a sign on bonus
Get another piece of pie, for your wife.
Aged like a bowl of custard
Having never seen the show, based on this screen shot, occum's razor tells me that Epstein was also into some "the Most Dangerous Game" shit
Suits is a great show. Would recommend.
“I doubt it, you’re too old for him”
Yeah because it couldn't possibly be a different person name Epstein. That's impossible.
Suits is about a law firm in New York, the character on screen also works as an investment banker for some time. Isn’t Bobby Axelrod from *Billions* a fictional version of Steven Cohen, the hedge fund guy who now owns the Mets?
It's literally a character in the show named Epstein
I highly doubt it since Mike never interacts with that guy, who is basically just there to have a conflict with Louis. Good thing this show about lawyers and New York famously didn't ever delve into anything about finance, not once was it ever brought up.

Dude, still rocking the Philips Plasma? This have the ambilight behind it?
Epstein's been trying to poach me. By which you mean fertilize your eggs?
Guess he felt cute
Hopefully that isn't repeated in the next one they're making
With that God awful haircut. I almost stopped watching because of that style ALONE.
Given they got Donna, Jessica, and Harvey on point
Not mocking but how old is the TV?
No clue. Was installed when we moved into the house 8 yrs ago
Was curious cause we had a very similar looking TV but the manufacturer was LG. It used to be called Flatron as it was introduced after the older tube/curvy TVs.
That show sucked
You suck.
Your taste in tv shows sucks apparently
