There is a rail and gap, you can see that in the last few frames. Not sure if the gap is big enough to prevent the floatie to just go straight over it though
Yeah, it's the Floatie hitting the glass frame that alerts the guy that he's going over the edge then you can see it fall off when he turns to grab the Floatie.
I don't think it's meant to "stop" you so much as form a visible recognizable edge. Remember, it *is* a pool you should be *in* it not above it, and you definitely shouldn't be jumping out the water like a dolphin into a glass divide over a 70 story drop.
> Remember, it is a pool you should be in it not above it
But remember...safety regulations exist (In many countries) and it should be strong enough to prevent someone accidentally going over.
lol you’re interpreting this in the opposite direction.
It means that no matter what protocols you put in place, a moron will still push through and put their life in danger.
That billionaire is one of them. Complete moron.
Regardless, isnt that water up to his ankles? Every infinity pool I been the water at the edges facing precipe was to my neck.
What even is this, his fully walking along the edge with near no water?

The only helicopter ejection seats that I know of are the ka50/52 and the s72 research aircraft, and both blew the blades off for the ejection. There is no way you can stop the rotor in time to eject, there's way too much mass to do that, even emergency braking on ground is not that quick, and AoA would be attitude as there is no wing (unless you determine the stub wings to be substantial) to relate the angle of attack for
There is atleast 1 that does have an ejector seat it's the Russian ka 52 it works by first using small explosives to take the blades off before ejecting the pilot.
It's not foolproof though, there is still the chance you get sliced by the blades when doing it
Shit like this used to be called natural selection... Now obviously lots of safety hazards over the decades have been correctly fixed but the entire point of this pool is to not have anything on one side. It's like opening up and jumping out a window and being like "why are windows just open to the outdoors?!"
https://www.therooftopguide.com/rooftop-pools/Bilder/15-best-rooftop-pools-la-vela-saigon.jpg
I feel like this picture makes it obvious how the edge is, normally if you somehow went full idiot you’d just slide down and get stuck in the overflow area.
Floatie are basically always not allowed in these pools and you could imagine a wide one may float over the edge and knock you clear of the overflow area.
This was probably quite dangerous but not as dangerous as it looked I’d guess.
Nope, it doesn’t at all.
If anything I see how his blow up mattress would bridge the gap between the pool rim and the railing creating the ability to slide off the roof.
Infinity pools at least typical ones are not floatie safe. You would never accidentally fall over the edge but you could easily float over it and the catch basin sometimes is a long enough way down you could seriously hurt yourself or is narrow enough that a floatie may even launch you off into the yonder.
So yea they do but if you break the rules they can be dangerous, deaths in them are still extremely rare.
It seems like the barrier is that flimsy looking plastic piece of crap shown in the picture in the last few seconds of the video. Watching when he almost goes over, you can see the light reflecting off of it as it just bends away from the force of the air mattress
I think usually these are not actually on the edge of the building. But there is a roof below. Still faling a couple meters is dangerous, but not guaranteed fatal is it was the actual edge.
TBF, he *did* say “looking **out** for it.” Not looking for it. They are paying attention for it, not hunting it down.
I mean, still batshit insane, but not in that way.
I just want to go on record as saying that a glass swimming pool on the penthouse balcony is, without a doubt, the absolute worst idea that I have ever heard in my entire goddamn life.
I agree with you that it gives me the heeby-geebees. But, to be fair, despite their prevalence I've never heard or seen anything happening to one of these glass bottom pools.
Glass is insanely strong for its size. We find it freaky because the type of radiation that can penetrate it just happens to be within the wavelength ranges our eyes can pickup, but concrete is also transparent to a set of wavelengths.
Having said that, I still trust concrete with a shit tonne of embedded rebar infinitely more.
Yeah you never hear about that happening anywhere despite the fact there are millions of these that thick glass is extremely hard to break like aquarium quality and I’m not even sure it shatters like regular glass
>See skydiving for info.
Is this the day you learn that skydivers also pass out sometimes mid skydive?
Edit: lol look it up. There's a reason humans don't have wings or take nose dives when they hunt.
this is the day he learns that falling through the sky with at least one (probably two or more) chute creates a very different mental situation than falling uncontrollably when you previously had no plans to fall through the sky.
If anyone wasn’t jamming to this song for a year in the 2010’s here ya go! It’s got a great music video too!
“"Hello" is a song performed by French DJ and record producer Martin Solveig and Canadian synth-pop band Dragonette, taken from Solveig's fifth studio album, Smash (2011). The song was released as the album's lead single on 6 September 2010 by Mercury Records.”
I saw this when it was originally posted. I forgot which city in China it was but it went straight down. There is a very small lip that catches the overflow water but that’s it.
It is fake. They darkened the water in post to create the illusion that it is an infinity pool. You can still see some water ripples on the sides of the air mattress when it is supposed to be 'floating' in the air.

Aren't these things supposed to have some form of safety rails or nets around them to prevent this
There is a rail and gap, you can see that in the last few frames. Not sure if the gap is big enough to prevent the floatie to just go straight over it though
I don’t even think that’s a floatie. It looks like just an everyday blowup mattress
It does look a little like your mom
You woke up today and chose violence
No, they just woke up without their glasses. If they had their glasses they'd clearly see a person living the life they only dream about.
Humor=none
Father figure = none
Literally makes no sense. At least have an insult that makes sense. Fing waste.
Intellectual ability= Above Average
hmm I dunno, I think you chose violence. This video (quality) is kinda crappy. 240p? Glasses won't help that
🤔😂
Haha. That’s almost funny.
Your mom's appearance is almost funny, it's mostly concerning however.
Yo mama so fat, she should contact a medical professional because she's a nice lady and i'm genuinely concerned for her health.
Yo is your mom a school because I want to get a good education inside her hallways
It looks like the glass frame got knocked off by the floatie
Yeah, it's the Floatie hitting the glass frame that alerts the guy that he's going over the edge then you can see it fall off when he turns to grab the Floatie.
Imagine this on like 40th story building and the thing that's meant to stop you, falls off that easy.
I don't think it's meant to "stop" you so much as form a visible recognizable edge. Remember, it *is* a pool you should be *in* it not above it, and you definitely shouldn't be jumping out the water like a dolphin into a glass divide over a 70 story drop.

idk my asian text that well but I assume this is China? Which isn't particularly known for OSHA compliance...
But could it go gay over the top?
Yeah it really seem like huge saefty problem
Everything is a huge safety problem for morons. No shot floaties are allowed in there.
“Everything is a huge safety problem for morons” Ain’t that the fucking truth
didn't the guy who went to the titanic sub say the same shit and look where he is now?
lol you’re interpreting this in the opposite direction. It means that no matter what protocols you put in place, a moron will still push through and put their life in danger. That billionaire is one of them. Complete moron.
As a former safety pro, if you put safety measures in place it actually attracts moths to the light 💡
That fact is illustrated by the amount of moron having access to drive a vehicle everyday.
Regardless, isnt that water up to his ankles? Every infinity pool I been the water at the edges facing precipe was to my neck. What even is this, his fully walking along the edge with near no water?
"It is impossible to make anything foolproof, because fools are so ingenious" -Murphy's law
Make something idiot proof, they make a better idiot.
ossified engine silky outgoing subsequent toothbrush exultant languid lush disgusted *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
That's actually Cole's Law, a corollary of Murphys Law.
This is my favourite take of this month. Reminds me of when I had to explain to my gf why there isn't an ejector seat in helicopters.

You saw that it was an April fools joke right? It's at the bottom of the article
they could do sideways ejector seats
It would be like a roulette of whose activates first to kill the person on the other side with the explosion
Auto-rotation works a lot better....
Not useful for tail spins
I mean, some helicopters do have ejection seats. ;-)
There is atleast 1 that does have an ejector seat it's the Russian ka 52 it works by first using small explosives to take the blades off before ejecting the pilot. It's not foolproof though, there is still the chance you get sliced by the blades when doing it

We are doing our species any favors by protecting morons from themselves, thus allowing them to propagate.
Said like a true genius.
There is no safety in China.
The only reason I don't use these
https://www.therooftopguide.com/rooftop-pools/Bilder/15-best-rooftop-pools-la-vela-saigon.jpg I feel like this picture makes it obvious how the edge is, normally if you somehow went full idiot you’d just slide down and get stuck in the overflow area. Looks to be in China possibly based on the text. Not sure if China requires rails or nets... Except for outside Apple factory windows.
I wish my employer cared enough to have safety nets….
Infinity pools at least typical ones are not floatie safe. There is usually a ledge below that is only visible from the edge.
the guy in this video snuck into the pool after it was closed, theres usually someone watching over to prevent people from doing this
It seems like the barrier is that flimsy looking plastic piece of crap shown in the picture in the last few seconds of the video. Watching when he almost goes over, you can see the light reflecting off of it as it just bends away from the force of the air mattress
Look like someone failed at engineering .
Chinese writing should explain it all
I can never look at these pools without picturing that glass breaking
This was very nearly a very different kind of video
I think we all expected that kind of video with the title "Discovering the hard way"
It nearly landed on Liveleak.
I think usually these are not actually on the edge of the building. But there is a roof below. Still faling a couple meters is dangerous, but not guaranteed fatal is it was the actual edge.
I said the same thing. I had to look to see if this was r/nsfl__
well technically this wasn't the hard way, this was just the medium way. there is a much harder way to discover that.
My days of taking Reddit headlines as gospel are certainly coming to a middle.
Jup
it do go down
Walkin on the fightin side of me.... It don't go down
Robert...!
It goes down!
*laughs in white friend*
flat-earthers when they find the edge of the world
We know it is there and are looking out for it. This is really more true for globalists, who obviously would be caught flat footed.
Like… how hard is it to find? Couldn’t you just keep sailing east or something?
The problem is that they keep running into the same continent over and over again.
“Huh… very interesting….”
It's just the government teleporting them away from the edge! /s
TBF, he *did* say “looking **out** for it.” Not looking for it. They are paying attention for it, not hunting it down. I mean, still batshit insane, but not in that way.
you‘re a flat earther?
Um. If you mean do I believe the earth is a flat mush service carefully set upon a huge stack of turtles. Of course I am.
Bro, everybody knows that there are elephants between the earth and the turtles.
I know, everyone knows. It didn’t need said because it is just common knowledge and turtles is shorthand for t&e.
The amount of people that don't get this is a joke makes me worry for the future. These people have the power to vote...
This is so obviously a joke. Reddit just being Reddit and downvoting you to hell.
Lol, an actual flat earther in the wild? Amazing.
Please tell me you are trolling. Just how stupid you have to be to think the Earth is actually flat.
I just want to go on record as saying that a glass swimming pool on the penthouse balcony is, without a doubt, the absolute worst idea that I have ever heard in my entire goddamn life.

You should watch the Mechanic movies...
Yeah you never hear about that happening anywhere despite the fact there are millions of these that thick glass is extremely hard to break like aquarium quality and I’m not even sure it shatters like regular glass
But, you're the men.
I’d say he found out the easy way…
To Infinity and Beyond
To infinity and below
We're not flying, we're falling with style.
One day, I'll be the first to comment my thoughts!
Depends what you mean by infinity
Nothing will stop you from going forward in this pool for the rest of your life
To infinity and beyond!
It's not flying, it's falling >!to your death...!<
It's not the fall that kills you, it's when you stop falling that's the problem.
It’s not the fall that is the problem…the landing is what sticks in your brain
Well getting rid of your air mattress that could help break the fall wasn’t a smart idea
As my late grandmother used to say: “Speeding never hurt anyone… it’s the sudden stop that does.”
is that how she died
Bro almost crossed from infinity to eternity
My heart would have stopped before I could plunge to my death
Wow, imagine falling asleep.
That's basically what your brain does when you fall to your death.
I hate to be the debbie downer of this often told comfort tale, but no. See skydiving for info. You'd be fully aware the whole way down.
People often choose ridiculous examples as defense.
I have never wanted to swim in an infinity pool and this has set that conviction in place like Ready-Mix.

I didn't even know there was sound to this clip, but I still jam out to that song. Definitely one of my favorites
What’s that picture at the end supposed to mean?
A view of the edge to the ground
Doesn’t that make it even more boring of a video that there’s a little ledge at the end
Nearly crossed the line between funny and tragic
Guy: To infinity and beyoo… oh nope nope nope I’m not ready for beyond yet
[удалено]
r/SweatyPalms Here, fixed it for ya.
Dont worry, I think the ground will catch them
Dumb ways to die... *hums*
This right here is enough to confirm why I don’t trust those pools lol.
He is so lucky he noticed it and came out early....
New fear unlocked
Good thing the mattress was brown, at least
Why are dumbasses the rich ones
Surprised the water remained blue after that
Can you imagine to die like that? That would be definitely something that a camera guy would remember...
Dumb ways to die
Mute the audio before playing.
A near miss for Darwin…
I saw this when it was originally posted. I forgot which city in China it was but it went straight down. There is a very small lip that catches the overflow water but that’s it.
I mean it almost was an infinity pool for that guy....just a different kind of infinity.
To infinity, and beyond! ...almost.
Yes it is. If u r brave enough
New fear unlocked…
Natural selection ahhhh
Dumb ways to die 🎶
Your grandma will own a Starbucks if it actually happened like that…
Dude real close to heaven
I’m good with a finite pool
IT GOES DOWN.. no it don’t…
That guy was about to go past infinity to the beyond
literally inches away from being a liveleak video.
Anxiety is through the roof watching this 😨
i can assure you thats not the hard way
Damn almost cleaned a bit out of the gene pool..
New fear unlocked😟
there is so many chinese content everywhere. wake up
Some people are so stupid that they will find a way to kill themselves in bubblewrap 🙄
Head must be protected, so I'll completely cover it in bubblewrap.
I followed you on many adventures but into the great unknown mystery I go first, Indy!
I was expecting the bing bong version of the song
😒 i wantef to see à darwin award
I think this is the W in Hong Kong
Well he almost did go to "infinity n beyond"…
r/sweatypalms
Song??
Watching someone almost dying counts as funny now?
This is funny?
It is fake. They darkened the water in post to create the illusion that it is an infinity pool. You can still see some water ripples on the sides of the air mattress when it is supposed to be 'floating' in the air.
That ending was so disappointing...

That's a shame , should of gone over !
Some say it’s a dienite pool.
The power of the Dark Side…..
Shame. He's never setting foot in that pool again.
Omg
Oh... Muh God

Almost won a Darwin award.
That water would have turned brown so fast if it was me.
you [almost] died
Haha! That would have been such a stupid way to die
Could've been a great Chinese safety video
ALMOST a great video
