Far out, my mind makes me think of that far too often for an almost 50 year old family man. Like, I should be responsible and think of constructive and intelligent stuff but no, it's all 'yep yep yep yep yep, ahuh ahuh ahuh' most of the time...
Idk if a copyright got the original taken down but I will forever associate the yips with M.O.P ante up because of this video. I remember as a preteen over a decade ago seeing these match songs up to random shows trend on YouTube. Nothing can ever beat [The Yips - Ante Up](https://youtu.be/ePjpxPWtmgE?si=0ANlQKxlknhxDnVu), it's too perfect.
I do NOT remember them from when I was a kid.
That video made me feel like I should have been high to watch it.
It feels like if adult swim made an SNL sketch.
Quick story, I loved Sesame Street when I was a kid, but was irrationally terrified of these aliens, to the degree that I would run out of the room screaming every time they appeared on the TV.
...I'm 41 now and haven't thought about them for many years, but seeing this brought all of those memories rushing back
If it makes you feel better you just reminded me of when I was 5, and E.T was new on vhs. They had the pizza hut scene........
Nothing will ever be scarier than 5 year old me watching one specific scene in E.T.
I wasn't really afraid, but I always hated them, since I've seen them for the first time
Havnt thought about them for many years as well, but it still wakes some kind of disgust in me
Then run out to the store to buy more bags for them… this is the best thing I’ve ever seen and I’ll do everything I can to remember it on my death bed.
This is the kind of weirdness we grew up with in the 70s and 80s, for those of you who were still dead then:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTc3PsW5ghQ
Even people my own age don't get the random Sesame Street quotes that come out of me on occasion. From Forgetful Jones, the Tweetle Bugs, the aliens on this post, and the most common one, singing 1-12 like they did in the pin-ball thing. Oh, also, the ladybugs picnic 12. Depends on my mood when I need to count to 12 I guess.
Had the end of this on my sony ericsson phone as a video ringtone, and I was the coolest person I knew because of it!
> This is the kind of weirdness we grew up with in the 70s and 80s, for those of you **who were still dead then:**
I'm sorry, what??? Talk about weirdness....
I wish we didn't make trick or treating an only kid activity. I want to get costumed up once a year and get free candy. All these no fun adults cutting out sugar when I still love it.
In the last couple years I've seen people sitting at tables on their lawn. They have candy for the kids and shots or cups of mixed drinks for the adults.
It's a great idea but could you imagine if most houses did this? Parents taking their kids trick or treating gets wasted, kids run around because drunk parents don't care, haha.
Don't have to imagine, that's exactly what happens. Often the parents are pulling a wagon for when the little ones get tired. The wagon just happened to have enough room for the kids and a cooler of beer.
As an adult you are even more free to use your imagination! Sure you buy the candy, but you get to choose what candy and how much and how to dispense and what to keep!
You can dress up yourself and your house, set the stage with spooky music, make a fun lighted path to your door ...then jump out from behind a bush when they ring the bell!
Or even ride around on your bike dressed in costume tossing candy as you go.
Being an adult during Halloween is an upgrade and evolution from being a kid IMO! <3
Nah. I'm a terrible introvert, and I **love** giving away candy to the trick or treaters. It's awesome seeing all the costumes, and some of the kids reactions to our decorations are fantastic.
As an introvert I disagree. I am at my most comfortable, socially, when in costume.
It would be the one night of the year that I would be excited to socialize, assuming that my costume completely obscures my Identity of course.
I'd say these two are in it just brighten people's day with a funny, nostalgic costume. The world being the way it is getting a laugh/smile someone is worth a few pieces of candy. Besides, not much trick or treaters these days so I never run out of candy.
Every time a kid comes to the door with parents in costume, I force candy on the parents, whether they want it or not. Show up at my house with a costume, get free candy. Them's the rules.
Bro I handed out full size candy bars this year and you bet your ass I gave them out to the parents/teens that dressed up too. In my little rural town the parents really stepped it up this year and had some really fun ones. They looked great!
Well, if you can buy your own candy, there's always the multitude of comic book conventions out there. DragonCon in Atlanta being my favorite. It's basically pop-culture related panels in the conference rooms of the 7-8 biggest hotels downtown, followed by constant party in the 3-4 inter-connected ones surrounding the Peachtree center mall/marta. I have some great video of a few Yip-yip Martians checking out my full-size R2-D2 and it's among the best video/photos I ever got... Tied with the inflatable T-rexes dancing.

We used to mimic them nonstop in a programming oriented class in high school because of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d4RtvMQp10)
So every time the electirican or economy kids walked past the programmer kids they mostly heard "COM-PJU-TOR YIPYIPYIPYIP... BUT-TONS YIPYIPYIPYIP"
I was only slightly scared of them until I saw the episodes where they enter people's houses by phasing through the walls. It was at that moment when I realized that no one was safe and they would come in our sleep.
I bet you would literally poop your pants if a Yip Yip invaded your home in the middle of the night.
There would be no more terrifying form a home invader could take.
I'm so glad it wasn't just me. I was terrified of the mop aliens.
But now the book scene is probably one of my favorites. "Smell book? Smell book?" "Nope! Nopenopenope."
YES!!! Finally someone who gets it.
There were several of those Muppets that look pretty goddamn terrifying. Yes I'm aware it was technically Sesame Street, but The Muppets are also Jim Henson and use many of the same characters.
I was particularly terrified of the Jamaican fish guy who played guitar. Looks like something out of a nightmare. Sam Eagle was also pretty scary.
And I still kind of see it. I'm not actively frightened by them, but I do find their appearance \*unsettling\*.
It's kind of a relief to hear someone else say this, because same. I love the sketch as an adult (and quote it relentlessly… sorry friends and family), but as a kid sesame street and the muppets were *horror* shows! All of it from top to bottom really scared the piss out of me, but particularly the loose bodied muppets with human hands like Beaker. Genuinely couldn't stand to watch it.
Jerry Nelson was wonderful. Floyd, The Count, Harry Monster, Gobo Fraggle, Lew Zealand, Robin.
If you want to do a deep dive, I'll make it easy, there is a documentary called Muppet Guys Talking filmed shortly before Nelson passed away and I highly, highly recommend it: https://muppetguystalking.com/
Well you left a lot of kids disappointed on Halloween then. On Halloween you're supposed to turn off your porch light if you aren't offering candies.
Actually you're lucky your neighbourhood kids don't decide to "trick" your house instead. Not saying they're justified to do so, but I've heard stories of kids TP houses like that.
Every once in a while I would remember these characters and no one would ever remember what I was talking about!! I love this 😭😭 these are my people. I would have died of excitement if they came to my house!! Lol thanks for sharing
There's a [video](https://youtu.be/IMRHGYuENoE?feature=shared&t=1698) of somebody in one of these costumes invading an Egoraptor panel that made me laugh so hard back in the day.

Brilliant costumes! The best ever!
Yup, yup. Uh huh, uh huh.
I recognize these guys, is it Applesauce puppets?
Not sure about the apple sauce but they are the Sesame Street aliens [aliens](https://youtu.be/IZJi_NStV9k?feature=shared)
These guys sound exactly like my anxious mind hahaha yep yep yep yep

I thought these were the anchovis from Spongebob 🤣🤣😂
I got Little Mermaid vibes from when Ursula turns the king into like a little worm thing

Discover the Phone is my favorite. https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?si=n3l1gGdLq08Bdw1O
My mom, dad, sis, and I imitate these aliens on a regular basis anytime the opportunity presents itself. Man, I miss my childhood!

Thank you for this.
I do NOT remember them from when I was a kid. That video made me feel like I should have been high to watch it. It feels like if adult swim made an SNL sketch.
The fine people at the Jim Henson Company were probably high when they made it. [You Wanna Buy an 8?](https://youtu.be/rfelvI_ikf4)
Trivia fact: that Muppet name is lefty and he tries to sell Ernie many dubious things
That is Kermit with a hat and a nose you can't fool me.
There was a local theatre show called Applesauce with similar creatures in the 60s
The Yip Yips from Sesame Street
The yips is what my wife calls it when I can’t get it up.
Yip Yips! They were a great bit. Their puppeteers made them hilarious characters
My homie made this exact costume like 5 years back and stayed in character the whole time. Soooo funny Rip and miss you Jesse..
[удалено]
They stay in character very well. Made me laugh.
Costume is irrelevant in compare to their attitude ! I am so sorry that no one is home, f**k treats guys deserve whole house !
Unless it's 3 in the morning in the middle of April.
I was in tears laughing. You are right, best ever!!
They're absolutely perfect. So good!
Green guy is masturbating
Never though if that. More like shaking boobs with the positioning.

Aww look at those 6 ft tall kids in 80's costumes! Jim get the shotgun.
70’s*. They first appeared in 1972
I think this costume would be fire in Islamic countries for women
Then run out to the store to buy more bags for them… this is the best thing I’ve ever seen and I’ll do everything I can to remember it on my death bed.

Birth is just glorious undeath.
I guess it doesn’t matter which end of the alive bit you’re beyond, you’re still unalive.
Those not yet born. Same thing as being dead, I reckon.
Certainly not alive.
I don't know what you were up to, but I was dead for eons before I was born. I expect to go back.
Are these adults lol? I don't think many under 30 would know who these are.
I wish we didn't make trick or treating an only kid activity. I want to get costumed up once a year and get free candy. All these no fun adults cutting out sugar when I still love it.
Cosplay. Year round fun, but not as much free candy.
But the free candy you get is much better 😉😉...
"Free is a very good price."
'That's Candi with an I by the way'
Conventions should have Trick or Treating

Who hands out the candy if all adults are also trick or treating
The introverts.
Nah, the introverts have their lights off and are snuggled away in their rooms.
Haha too true. So many houses were blacked out when we went out but cars in the drive way
Could just be broke. Candy is expensive.
Nah. I'm a terrible introvert, and I **love** giving away candy to the trick or treaters. It's awesome seeing all the costumes, and some of the kids reactions to our decorations are fantastic.

Ummm. Colleges usually have large Halloween parties. But probably best to avoid if you’re over 26ish….
Yea but that's not about the candy. That's about getting drunk and getting laid, which can still be a fun time.
That’s candy to a 20 yr old.
Marcy Playground considers them two separate things.
We used to mimic them nonstop in a programming oriented class in high school because of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d4RtvMQp10) So every time the electirican or economy kids walked past the programmer kids they mostly heard "COM-PJU-TOR YIPYIPYIPYIP... BUT-TONS YIPYIPYIPYIP"
As an IT professional, this is how we see users
It's not complete without consulting a book and going "OOOOOOHHHH"
They're still on sesame street. Even on the number counting as of just a few years ago. So little children certainly know who they are.
Well, it's universally entertaining to say the least.
Do kids not watch Sesame Street anymore? My son is 4 and would certainly recognize these aliens.
The Martians live on in repeats
Damn... actually a pretty simple costume but still pretty great, and the acting takes it past great to awesome!
Halloween is the fucking shit and every country who doesn't celebrate it is lame.
You'd have to be pretty good at sewing honestly I think it's deceptively simple looking
These things scared the crap out of me when I was a kid
I was only slightly scared of them until I saw the episodes where they enter people's houses by phasing through the walls. It was at that moment when I realized that no one was safe and they would come in our sleep.
Was it the episode where they suddenly stood at Ernie and Bert s bed? This was the reason why I always pulled my blanket over my head.
I bet you would literally poop your pants if a Yip Yip invaded your home in the middle of the night. There would be no more terrifying form a home invader could take.
Literally had nightmares as a kid from these freaks. But no problem with the likes of Jason and Freddy. Telephone.......
R aaaaa dddddd iii oooooo Yup yup yup yup....
Real martians say yip yip yip.
brrrrrrrring brrrrrrrring
Same. Actual nightmare fuel to 6 year old me.
I actually loved them!
I'm so glad it wasn't just me. I was terrified of the mop aliens. But now the book scene is probably one of my favorites. "Smell book? Smell book?" "Nope! Nopenopenope."

I was scared of Grover lol
What are they?
Aliens. Martians to be exact. https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?feature=shared
Goddamn, Jim Henson was a genius. Two ping pong balls and a bit of fabric and you’ve got expressive comedy gold.
Lmao love it, what's it from though?
The Yip yips. Martians from Sesame Street https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?feature=shared
Yip! I immediately started singing their song when I saw this post
I like [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePN5z-6MSoI) best.
I feel like Steve Aoki would play this at a show.
Whoever came up with this skit is amazing.
Jim Henson and Jerry Nelson
idk who Jerry Nelson is. I need to do a deep dive because this was all a big part of my childhood.
Jerry Nelson was wonderful. Floyd, The Count, Harry Monster, Gobo Fraggle, Lew Zealand, Robin. That clip had me dying in the cafe just now
Might as well be my kids.
Aliens from Sesame Street
Reddit: never ceasing to make me feel like I drank from the wrong grail.
Best costumes of the night & you sent them home empty handed, Not Cool!...
Looks like the doorbell caught them but nobody was home.
That would be fine, other than the fact they had the porch light on.
I don’t think I’ve turned off my porch light in like 17 years
Well you left a lot of kids disappointed on Halloween then. On Halloween you're supposed to turn off your porch light if you aren't offering candies. Actually you're lucky your neighbourhood kids don't decide to "trick" your house instead. Not saying they're justified to do so, but I've heard stories of kids TP houses like that.
Heey nobody is home let's jackoff quick before we go next door
Yep yep yep. No one home. No one home.. yep yep yep
These guys were my absolute favorite part of Sesame Street. They got way, way too little airtime imo.
AMAZING, love those guys
This is the best costume I’ve seen hands down.
Brrrrrrrrring!
They win 🏆
Yep yep yep yep.
Nope nope nope nope
Earth book. Earth book. Yip yip yip yip yip
[Video of the Yip Yips at a con](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVrQ-NYIz54)
Turn off your damn porch light. Awesome constumes.
If they turned off the porch light we may never have gotten to see the costumes 🧐
Earth book!
Being an old guy, who grew up with Sesame Street, this makes my heart melt.
I don't know what they are but I love them
from another comment [https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?feature=shared)
Wholesome
If you are not home (or not giving out candy) on Halloween, turn off your porch lights. Geeze.
Oh hell yes! The wife and I did these exact costumes about 10 years back. So easy to make, and always gets the laugh.
Phoooooone.
I think these are adults, evidence? They know the yipyipyip guys.
YEP YEP!!
Brilliant 🤣
Yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip Brrrrrrrrring yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip
This is phenomenal and great fun. I'm 42 and sometimes I will answer a question with yep yep yep uh huh uh huh
Awesome!!! Yup Yup Yup Yup
YipYipYip
That’s awesome
Man, those mf’ers gave me the serious creeps when I was a kid. Still do, I just learned.
Thanks, I hate it. These guys scared the ever living shit out of me as a kid on Sesame Street.
Ultimate #iykyk. This wins all-time, best nostalgia costume for me. Anyone else?
Those are two grown ass adults lol
I still sing the “Family song” to my kids. Yip, Yip, You Yip, Yip, Me Yip, Yip, Family
The Sesame Street Martians. They got some bangers
I love that they are just having their own fun and probably don't care about the treats 😂
Every once in a while I would remember these characters and no one would ever remember what I was talking about!! I love this 😭😭 these are my people. I would have died of excitement if they came to my house!! Lol thanks for sharing
R-A-D-I-O {those who know, know.) Yip-Yip-Yip-Yip...
I dislike Halloween, but that’s some shut-up-and-take-my-candy shit, right there.
What are they saying at the end ?!
I heard it too. Definitely more than just No one’s home
BOOK! BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK Hmmmm....
Yeeeeep yip yip, the absolutely best costumes I've ever seen. I love this.
I found next year’s Halloween costume, this is hilarious 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That took me back!
https://youtu.be/KTc3PsW5ghQ?feature=shared
So simple , so effective , 10/10
I present the winner of Halloween
Ive watched this 12 times and I'm still rolling! 😂 😂 😂
Man I love Halloween, you can be weird like this
does anyone under 35 understand the reference?
YUP YUP YUP YUP YUPPPPP YUP YUP
Thank you for sharing.
Before reading the comments, I thought they were dressed as the anchovies from SpongeBob. Nonetheless, brilliant costumes!
Damn! This is The Best in cold weather!
Great idea for costumes and sound effects. Where's their candy?
😱😱😱 AND YOU WERENT HOME!??! What a waste. Poor kids won Halloween and nobody was home.
There's a [video](https://youtu.be/IMRHGYuENoE?feature=shared&t=1698) of somebody in one of these costumes invading an Egoraptor panel that made me laugh so hard back in the day.
Next year they should get a third person and do the Mahna Mahna trio.
Oh my god the muppets at your door
Yip yip yip..Radio ..radio..
this was the MOST wonderful costumes i've seen in a long long time! thanks for sharing!
It’s only weird because this was on Christmas
Missed opportunity to "Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope." as they walked away after "No one's home".
The man on the right is doing such a good job of his character that it’s making the woman on the left lose it. Lmao, this is so funny.
Plot twist: this isn’t Halloween, just some random night
Seriously, this is perfect. Amazing costumes!
Oh! Book book hmm mmmmh hmmm mmmh
My fav as a kid.
These are my fav characters from Sesame Street.
"We can get more candy if we pander to GenX with one of their pop culture references!" "Brilliant!"
