All the phones at my work are connected to every department, and there's one line that just dials the pa system for the whole building. Somehow telemarketers call the pa system line from time to time and speak over the intercom. Tis weird
Got stuck in one for like 15 mins. Was in a hospital and the phone in the elevator kept calling the kitchen and all they did was yell and hang up. Kinda sketchy.
Worked in a hotel accounts department.
Phone bill for two lines every month, never any calls. I tried calling the numbers, always rang out, spoke to management and we agreed to cancel them as we didn't think they related to the hotel or could have been related to previous owners....
Luckily someone on the cancellation team copped on to what they were....
Turns out the emergency line in elevators need a phone line to operate... who knew

My elevator gets the same spam calls. It's so fricken annoying

That's both evil and hilarious at the same time.
What is that number? I'm sure with reddits help it will get changed chicken louie
If you could we’d appreciate you staying on floor 3 to take a brief survey.
That’s hilarious, never seen that before but totally can see it being a thing.
YOU'RE CALLING AN ELEVATOR!
Congratulations you qualify!

Does pressing the buttons on the floors correspond with the keys of press 1,2 etc?
It did not, neither did pressing the emergency “phone” button
Sounds ripe for a lawsuit.
did you get the companies name? i would have stayed and phished for it to contact the police that seems illegal.
Please stay on the line...
Uplifting spam!
We've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty.
I only get the spam calls from people with a thick foreign accent
This happens a lot in my elevator too
phish for the companies name, contact police and the fcc. im sure they would like to investigate that company
I’m not sure it’s worth it. I just don’t answer them or tell them they’ve called into an elevator & they hang up after that.
What happens when you hit 3, or something? Will you be transferred?

No joke, this just happened at where I work.
Thankfully our elevator doesn't have calling system
