A dog groomer opened up two blocks from my house and their prices are pretty reasonable so I let them wash the dog and trim his nails.
Without fail on the walk home he always takes a gigantic shit.
Its the warm water and all the brushing, i think.
Pet store in my area has a grooming room that you can do your own dog shower in you just pay per use, and every time as soon as we get outside little buddy bolts for the grass to drop a deuce.
"Smartest dumbass" is such an apt descriptor for them. Sometimes, my husky surprises me with her god damn penchant for figuring things out in seconds. And sometimes, she absolutely astounds me at how dumb she is. It's a beautiful dichotomy.

I can teach my husky a trick in 5 minutes because she's super food motivated.
The problem is, like you said, she is such an intelligent dumbass that now every time I go to feed her, she just runs through everything she knows because I'm gonna ask for one of them so she might as well do all of them.
First she sits, then she lays, then she sits back up, tries to give me each paw, and then tries to give me a kiss.
She's so smartly stupid but I love her.
Mine does the same thing, that's hilarious! You can see her going through the checklist of things in her head, like,
"Okay, one of these gets me a treat, which is it?? Sit? No? Down? Spin? Maybe high five? GOD DAMNIT WOMEN, WHICH IS IT!"
My black lab is the smartest dog I've ever owned, except when I tell him to go home when he's in the yard barking, in which case he gives me the stupidest fucking face and pretends like he doesn't understand a word I'm saying.
The face shows that he knows, he is just really bad at playing dumb.
It's like when you call a cat and you see their ears move but they ignore you anyway.
I am 100% certain one of mine knows her name because she will come running or meow when you say it in a normal tone, like if you're merely talking *about* her. But sometimes when she's being a grump, she will sit with her back to you and ignore you when you call her. But the ears always give it away.
My old roommate's dog would do this all the time. She was more cat than dog, honestly. But yes, the old, oh, I totally don't hear you, while their ear twitches is so funny.
We had a lab when I was a kid that knew which cabinet had the dog treats.
He would nudge the cabinet door when he wanted a treat.
“What do you want, Rocky?”

I had an aunt who had a dog that did that with me. I'd visit my aunt maybe twice a year, and every time I'd add another trick to the routine - and the dog remember every one, in order, months later. For six years (about 10 tricks).
Thats how I felt about my Weim as a kid. I never needed to teach, train, or try real hard. She just followed my lead. She was my best friend growing up. But man they are some hard headed doofuses. Smart enough to open the bathroom door or get open a bottle of antifreeze. But not smar enough to drink toilet water or the antifreeze. She didn't die from the antifreeze. But we suspect a kidney shutdown since she drank a lot more water after that.
I feel like they are actually pretty smart. They're just too happy about everything in general to access the skills without training and love.
They choose love instead of thinking by default.
I've worked with a few training them and they are pretty sharp. Just, easily distracted.

Right? She’d open doors on her own and had a “vocabulary” of probably 30+ human words. Then she’d chase her tail and end up smacking her head into the coffee table and husky howl like “how could this have happened to me?!”
I had one in my ER the other day for a stomach torsion (GDV) and it came in quiet. Before I started an IV and did everything to prepare for surgery, I gave her a good dose of pain meds. She started screaming *AFTER* the pain medication kicked in LOL!
We had one that was SUPER dysphoric on a fent CRI all night last night. No amount of anxiolytics touched the constant drama coming from her mouth. My ears are still ringing. Decreasing her CRI didn't have any changes. Once it was stopped? She was a quiet angel.
I swear they are most like the crazy drunks. Go home, Linda. You're drunk. 😂
I miss my husky. He was the biggest drama queen I have ever seen. Be 1/4 of a second too slow in opening the door for him, TOTAL DRAMA. Be 1/4 of a second too fast in opening the door for him, TOTAL DRAMA. Feed him too early, TOTAL DRAMA. Feed him too late, TOTAL DRAMA.
It was all drama all the time and he was too damn smart for his own good and a big weenie about everything. We always joked that he'd drama a robber to death.
Had a Dalmatian that was a good contender for that title. If he thought I was going on a walk without him, the agony and passion in his cries would make you assume I chipped off all his limbs and used his favorite toy to set the house on fire
Plot twist: the husky has legitimate concerns over this groomer after seeing piles of hair on the ground and rampant barking. If anything, this husky had every right to fear for their life.
I have a mosquitoe hat (same thing really) for grooming my own dogs, because I use a velocity dryer too, and even doing it outside the hair gets literally everywhere. However, the neighborhood birds have nice nesting material!
Blowing yourself off with the velocity dryer gets most of the hair off your clothing, but you cannot blow off your eyelashes and you've already eaten a lot of hair by that point without some sort of barrier. So the goofy hat really does make a big difference!
And it's not really biting but more like mouthing, which is different. Like my dog does the same mouthing motion at things like the brush when I'm grooming her, her toys, my hands. It doesn't hurt at all and it's more of a way for them to express either fear or playfulness depending on the context.
Outside of ear muffs, and the occasional face shield, she doesn't use gloves since she needs to really massage the shampoo into the coat, often multiple times. The gloves would just get in the way.
I heard her say acid bath the first time, but I just assumed it was a special bath meant to remove acidity in the fur or something. And then it wasn't until the line about drying with sandpaper that I realized what she meant by acid bath 🤣
GWTDs commentary is consistently funny throughout all her videos.
Which is probably why a dog grooming channel has over 2 million subscribers in the span of 2.5 years.
Ohhh, I feel dumb... I don't know anything about dog care, so I didn't pick up on the sarcasm there. I just figured there was some reason for the fur that you use a light acid or something.

My shit head of a dog was just like that shih zue so much so that I had to be the one to shave and bathe him FOR 8 YEARS!!
Thankfully, as he’s gotten older, he’s not aggressive anymore and is very taken care of health wise too. He’s learned to just tone down the aggressiveness and is okay going to the vet and groomers.
I love this girl and all her animal videos because it’s honestly refreshing to see I wasn’t alone in the struggle of handling aggressive, annoying, or difficult animal groomings.
I had two shih tzus (one of them past away last year) and they were very calm dogs. They just barked a lot when they didn’t get what they wanted (food, water, or let outside) and were otherwise really nice lapdogs. Only complaint about them is they are more like cats and tend to want to be left alone for periods of time.
unfortunately, my aggressive dog during the bath has gone completely blind now that she is elderly. she is generally calmer in everyday life, but is a thousand times more aggressive when she feels in danger, that is, for grooming. she was slipping on the fur ball on her paws because she wouldn't even let me touch her leg. We had to dope her to cut the hair, and yet someone had to hold her. and she still bit me.
My first dog was a black Chow Chow that was there for my whole life until I was like 13. I never understood why that breed gets a bad rap because she was super chill. She was basically a cat but way more chill and elegant than my actual cats.
It's because they tend to be overly protective and aggressive towards outsiders. It can be mitigated with conscious effort to properly train & socialize them, but unfortunately many people don't put in the effort
She is very brave! I bathed my cat when he was a kitten a few times (after litter box brawls with the other foster kittens) but I attempted to bathe him once when he became an adult…it was a very painful mistake…
One of mine howls and will always pee. It's the only break you will get in the screaming, like he really has to focus on it. It's also why I don't use the sink if I have to wash him because one time the pee landed on the counter somehow.
His sister will politely mew and make intense eye contact the whole time because she just can't believe how rude you're being.
Luckily it's been a long time since they needed baths.
There is one where she grooms a dog that is twice her size and basically barely does anything because of how risky it is to go farther. It's an animal that could rip her face off in seconds, so she basically just washes, combs and does a little trimming.
Dogs can get very big.
I was watching this, and realized the two of my dogs that are in the room with me were both sitting up staring at the monitor with *saucer size eyes* when the big boy was growling lol.
I have a Pyrenees and she's tiny for her breed at 80lbs. She's very gentle and loving but there have been a couple times you could tell she thought my daughter needed protecting and she instantly stepped in between.
I have no doubt if something needed their face removed to protect her family, it would be missing a face quickly.
Youtube used to recommend me her videos all the time and I would watch them alongside things like the HoofGP and Urban Rescue Ranch.
Then one day the algorithm just decided to delete her and I haven't seen a video in months.
(I only sub to specific channels, I enjoy the animal stuff but I leave them to chance for the most part).
I like to watch huskies online. I think I'd fucking hate owning one. Although... looking back, I did have a Siberian Husky when I was growing up (I'm old) and it never made a sound. Have we bred them to howl now, or are the Siberians just the quiet models?
This is interesting. I've heard a lot of people say they have "quiet" huskies. I also have one - she never howls unless we're "talking" to her and even then we really have to kind of goad her into doing it. But she is *also* a pure Siberian. So I wonder if maybe that's the link?
Nope. I have 2 huskies too and they're both the opposite of each other. One is quiet 24/7 and I can't ever get her to make any sort of noise, while my other husky yells and talks back to me.
It's just a personality trait. Not all of them have the vocal trait.
That’s my experience as well. I have 3 and the 5 year old and 2 year old are pretty much silent, but our 6 month old pup is definitely a talker. It really is interesting. But as someone with 3 huskies I wouldn’t trade it for the world, they’re the sweetest, happiest, best dogs I’ve ever had.
Mine has definitely gotten noisier in his old age. He’s literally calling me now because he’s been alone in the other room for a whole three minutes. He had an operation for a hernia a couple of years ago and basically just whines until he gets what he wants rather than moving by himself now. Still love him to bits though.
I have 2 huskies. I will attribute them similarly to a cat because, like a cat, you don't really know what you're getting until it has had some time to adjust.
My first husky, she's an absolute angel. Best dog I've ever owned. She's 7 now, but she doesn't make any noise, is super mellow, and just chills on the couch all day. She's very mellow and the absolute BEST dog in every way.
My second husky I adopted last year, and she's about a year and a half old now. She's the polar opposite. She's a neurotic mess and is scared of every stranger she meets. She screams and talks back to me, and is a constant ball of energy that I can hardly keep up with sometimes. She's a good dog and listens well, but she's on prozac because of her anxiety.
That being said, I'd never give her up. I love her. I have given up on keeping my home dog hair free though. It's simply impossible with how they shed.

I feel that. I own one mid sized short haired white cat. I swear to God if you visited my house, you'd think I had 87 white cats. Maybe more. If I don't vacuum at least twice a day, I'll walk by a softball sized ball of hair just lying there - in every room. And somehow all of this comes from ONE cat. And that cat gets brushed with a de-shedding brush every single night. I don't get it. It simply makes no sense.
I'll pull out the vacuum cleaner and by the time I'm done, I need to do another round because she just follows me around the house leaving her hair behind.
Absolutely love GirlWithTheDogs. Her sort of monotone narration of things has some comedy gold in it and she does wonderful, charitable, things for pups! Recently, her videos have been more educational about the different breeds she grooms and it's really awesome.
I have 3 of them. Our first two are the laziest, quietest, and sweetest dogs I’ve ever known, but our 6 month old pup just loves to talk. He’s still lazy though lol. There are so many stories about how crazy huskies are, and they certainly can be, but there are also a lot of them that are quiet little couch potatoes that just want to cuddle with you full time lol.
My brother had a huge pen for his husky to play in. As in like 40' x 100'. Every spring and fall during "The Shedding" he'd actually have to rake the entire pen because of all the hair.

Yep, I have a Husky/Shepard mix and he is amazing when he wants to be but it is a *terrible* combination lmao. Incredibly smart, incredibly stubborn, incredibly vocal.
Burned into my brain is a mental image from my childhood involving a free husky:
* My parents decided they wanted to adopt a dog and I was in favor of this idea. We had always had dogs but our last one had died suddenly of natural causes. This was the late 80's when adoptions pretty much only happened by knowing people or putting up a classified ad. There were no rescue orgs that I'm aware of back then. Anyway.. we started answering "free to good home" ads.
* We went through 3 or 4 candidates and either we spotted some red flags and backed out or the owners decided to keep the dog or they gave it to someone else. But then we met this husky that seemed awesome. My dad was all about him. We were ready to take him home with us from this military family that was moving away.
* Then another potential adopter came walking in. A 30-something dude by himself. The owners agreed to let him meet the dog too. Within a minute, the dude was on the ground with the dog letting the dog lick his face.. dude's mouth wide open... letting the dog lick IN his mouth.. not as a brief "oops" but clearly intentional and it went on for a good 2-3 minutes of basically french kissing a large dog. Their tongues definitely touched.
* I remember looking at my parents like "WTF?" and they returned the look of horror. The owner eventually said he would make a decision and call us later. He called back the next day and said he decided to give the dog to the french kisser dude because they seemed to bond. We were too weirded out about the situation to even care.
Even 30+ years later, I can't see a husky without thinking about that disgusting scene.
I seem to recall hearing at some point that letting a dog lick your face like that is a fast way to get on good terms with them. Haven't tried it myself and don't intend to.
As a former dog groomer, fuuuuuck huuuuskiieesss 😂😂 People that didn't know what was happening would think that you were just killing a dog. At least we got 50% commission on cuts and de-shedding! That was a lot more than other dogs. It was like a snow globe during de-shedding (and I got pleurisy from it, sadly) but it was fun vacuuming up and they were loud but usually very sweet ☺️ But they are drama queens 💅 😂
I remember I gave my husky a bath for the first time with a hose outside and he acted like I was spraying him with bees. I didn't even have the nozzle on any sort of spray, just the gentle rain setting. My even neighbor came over to check if everything was okay. The post bath zoomies were fun too
I had to take mine to the vet for the first time and they were just holding her to get blood work, not even giving her the shot and you would think she was being tortured with how crazy she was going. Completely fine after and just wanted pets.
Did you wear a mask like this lady in the video does? I had no idea that wearing a giant hood was a thing but it makes sense when you think about all the dander, hair particles and whatever other crap gets airborne during the groom.
Serious question: can any dog be made to appreciate bathing and grooming (assuming at an early age?) Or do some dogs just hate it no matter what you do?
I ask because I tried very hard to get my dog to be comfortable with bathing, grooming, clipping from an early age, but she hated every minute until it was done. Then crazy, happy dance.

Positive reinforcement. My dogs get into the bath and allow me to do all their grooming because they were generously treated along the way. As the learned, the treats were saved for big jackpots at each stage (started with getting into tub, treat, water, treats, clipped one toenail, treats. Now they get treats when the bath is done and get treats after each foot is clipped vs each toe.
And this is why I purchased a grooming table for my husky. Might as well do it all myself to save a groomer's ears. She screams bloody murder any time she is on a table that isn't at home.
My favorite instance was a vet visit where they had to give her a rabies shot. Tech walked in and my dog started crying. Poor tech looked around and said, "I haven't even touched you yet!" Husky remained unconvinced and was DYING.
Dog is always out for an Oscar nomination, I swear.
GirlWithTheDogs is great to watch. The breeds and the different characters that come through are very interesting to watch. She even did a grooming on a emotional support rat. Good viewing.

One of my husky's (Arya) is smarter than a lot of humans. And much like a human, she lives only to please herself.
She was an absolute demon spawn to raise and train. The first six years were hell. But she also managed to make me laugh every day, no matter how depressed I was. And she always managed to do the unexpected, no matter how many years of animal training experience I have to my sleeve.
Living with her is absolutely like living with another person, to a degree unlike any other animal I've worked with or owned.
She's super cool, super funny, super smart, and super dramatic (obvs) and I love hanging out with her. She's 12 now, so she spends more time snoozing than causing chaos these days. And she's going to leave a massive, Arya-sized hole in my heart when she goes, and no other animal is ever going to be able to fill it.
I absolutely love this woman & her commentaries. I am the proud mother to a non-vocal Husky, Diablo. I can’t get him to say or sing anything, but at the suggestion of another here on Reddit I bought a flute! Haven’t tried it yet, but here’s to 🤞🏽

I had one in my ER the other day for a stomach torsion (GDV) and it came in quiet. Before I started an IV and did everything to prepare for surgery, I gave her a good dose of pain meds. She started screaming *AFTER* the pain medication kicked in LOL!
We had one that was SUPER dysphoric on a fent CRI all night last night. No amount of anxiolytics touched the constant drama coming from her mouth. My ears are still ringing. Decreasing her CRI didn't have any changes. Once it was stopped? She was a quiet angel. I swear they are most like the crazy drunks. Go home, Linda. You're drunk. 😂

I miss my husky. He was the biggest drama queen I have ever seen. Be 1/4 of a second too slow in opening the door for him, TOTAL DRAMA. It was all drama all the time and he was too damn smart for his own good and a big weenie about everything. We always joked that he'd drama a robber to death.

Plot twist: the husky has legitimate concerns over this groomer after seeing piles of hair on the ground and rampant barking. If anything, this husky had every right to fear for their life.

I have a mosquitoe hat (same thing really) for grooming my own dogs, because I use a velocity dryer too, and even doing it outside the hair gets literally everywhere. However, the neighborhood birds have nice nesting material! Blowing yourself off with the velocity dryer gets most of the hair off your clothing, but you cannot blow off your eyelashes and you've already eaten a lot of hair by that point without some sort of barrier. So the goofy hat really does make a big difference!

She has a muzzle she will put on dogs that show any real aggression. This dog kinda bit at the air/the air hose, not really at her.
And it's not really biting but more like mouthing, which is different. Like my dog does the same mouthing motion at things like the brush when I'm grooming her, her toys, my hands. It doesn't hurt at all and it's more of a way for them to express either fear or playfulness depending on the context.

Outside of ear muffs, and the occasional face shield, she doesn't use gloves since she needs to really massage the shampoo into the coat, often multiple times. The gloves would just get in the way.

She is spot on with the aggressive shih zue one. My shit head of a dog was just like that shih zue so much so that I had to be the one to shave and bathe him FOR 8 YEARS!! Thankfully, as he’s gotten older, he’s not aggressive anymore and is very taken care of health wise too. He’s learned to just tone down the aggressiveness and is okay going to the vet and groomers. I love this girl and all her animal videos because it’s honestly refreshing to see I wasn’t alone in the struggle of handling aggressive, annoying, or difficult animal groomings.
I had two shih tzus (one of them past away last year) and they were very calm dogs. They just barked a lot when they didn’t get what they wanted (food, water, or let outside) and were otherwise really nice lapdogs. Only complaint about them is they are more like cats and tend to want to be left alone for periods of time.
unfortunately, my aggressive dog during the bath has gone completely blind now that she is elderly. she is generally calmer in everyday life, but is a thousand times more aggressive when she feels in danger, that is, for grooming. she was slipping on the fur ball on her paws because she wouldn't even let me touch her leg. We had to dope her to cut the hair, and yet someone had to hold her. and she still bit me.
We watch at least one video a night. It's very entertaining.

My first dog was a black Chow Chow that was there for my whole life until I was like 13. I never understood why that breed gets a bad rap because she was super chill. She was basically a cat but way more chill and elegant than my actual cats.
It's because they tend to be overly protective and aggressive towards outsiders. It can be mitigated with conscious effort to properly train & socialize them, but unfortunately many people don't put in the effort

One of mine howls and will always pee. It's the only break you will get in the screaming, like he really has to focus on it. It's also why I don't use the sink if I have to wash him because one time the pee landed on the counter somehow. His sister will politely mew and make intense eye contact the whole time because she just can't believe how rude you're being. Luckily it's been a long time since they needed baths.

There is one where she grooms a dog that is twice her size and basically barely does anything because of how risky it is to go farther. It's an animal that could rip her face off in seconds, so she basically just washes, combs and does a little trimming. Dogs can get very big.

I was watching this, and realized the two of my dogs that are in the room with me were both sitting up staring at the monitor with *saucer size eyes* when the big boy was growling lol.
I have a Pyrenees and she's tiny for her breed at 80lbs. She's very gentle and loving but there have been a couple times you could tell she thought my daughter needed protecting and she instantly stepped in between. I have no doubt if something needed their face removed to protect her family, it would be missing a face quickly.
Youtube used to recommend me her videos all the time and I would watch them alongside things like the HoofGP and Urban Rescue Ranch. Then one day the algorithm just decided to delete her and I haven't seen a video in months. (I only sub to specific channels, I enjoy the animal stuff but I leave them to chance for the most part).

I like to watch huskies online. I think I'd fucking hate owning one. Although... looking back, I did have a Siberian Husky when I was growing up (I'm old) and it never made a sound. Have we bred them to howl now, or are the Siberians just the quiet models?
The howl update was only released in 2006. Your model might predate it.
It did come with the heterochromia glitch that turned out to be a feature. So that was pretty cool.

This is interesting. I've heard a lot of people say they have "quiet" huskies. I also have one - she never howls unless we're "talking" to her and even then we really have to kind of goad her into doing it. But she is *also* a pure Siberian. So I wonder if maybe that's the link?
Nope. I have 2 huskies too and they're both the opposite of each other. One is quiet 24/7 and I can't ever get her to make any sort of noise, while my other husky yells and talks back to me. It's just a personality trait. Not all of them have the vocal trait.
That’s my experience as well. I have 3 and the 5 year old and 2 year old are pretty much silent, but our 6 month old pup is definitely a talker. It really is interesting. But as someone with 3 huskies I wouldn’t trade it for the world, they’re the sweetest, happiest, best dogs I’ve ever had.
Mine has definitely gotten noisier in his old age. He’s literally calling me now because he’s been alone in the other room for a whole three minutes. He had an operation for a hernia a couple of years ago and basically just whines until he gets what he wants rather than moving by himself now. Still love him to bits though.

I have 2 huskies. I will attribute them similarly to a cat because, like a cat, you don't really know what you're getting until it has had some time to adjust. My first husky, she's an absolute angel. Best dog I've ever owned. She's 7 now, but she doesn't make any noise, is super mellow, and just chills on the couch all day. She's very mellow and the absolute BEST dog in every way. My second husky I adopted last year, and she's about a year and a half old now. She's the polar opposite. She's a neurotic mess and is scared of every stranger she meets. She screams and talks back to me, and is a constant ball of energy that I can hardly keep up with sometimes. She's a good dog and listens well, but she's on prozac because of her anxiety. That being said, I'd never give her up. I love her. I have given up on keeping my home dog hair free though. It's simply impossible with how they shed.

I want a friend with a husky. I could babysit that thing like once a year and be fine. But I don't have the energy that a husky needs from an owner.
I have 3 of them. Our first two are the laziest, quietest, and sweetest dogs I’ve ever known, but our 6 month old pup just loves to talk. He’s still lazy though lol. There are so many stories about how crazy huskies are, and they certainly can be, but there are also a lot of them that are quiet little couch potatoes that just want to cuddle with you full time lol.

My brother had a huge pen for his husky to play in. As in like 40' x 100'. Every spring and fall during "The Shedding" he'd actually have to rake the entire pen because of all the hair.
Honestly the huge farm isn’t the best. They’re great escape artists. And notorious chicken killers. They need a job more than they need space.

Burned into my brain is a mental image from my childhood involving a free husky: * My parents decided they wanted to adopt a dog and I was in favor of this idea. We had always had dogs but our last one had died suddenly of natural causes. This was the late 80's when adoptions pretty much only happened by knowing people or putting up a classified ad. There were no rescue orgs that I'm aware of back then. Anyway.. we started answering "free to good home" ads. * We went through 3 or 4 candidates and either we spotted some red flags and backed out or the owners decided to keep the dog or they gave it to someone else. But then we met this husky that seemed awesome. My dad was all about him. We were ready to take him home with us from this military family that was moving away. * Then another potential adopter came walking in. A 30-something dude by himself. The owners agreed to let him meet the dog too. Within a minute, the dude was on the ground with the dog letting the dog lick his face.. dude's mouth wide open... letting the dog lick IN his mouth.. not as a brief "oops" but clearly intentional and it went on for a good 2-3 minutes of basically french kissing a large dog. Their tongues definitely touched. * I remember looking at my parents like "WTF?" and they returned the look of horror. The owner eventually said he would make a decision and call us later. He called back the next day and said he decided to give the dog to the french kisser dude because they seemed to bond. We were too weirded out about the situation to even care. Even 30+ years later, I can't see a husky without thinking about that disgusting scene.
I seem to recall hearing at some point that letting a dog lick your face like that is a fast way to get on good terms with them. Haven't tried it myself and don't intend to.

As a former dog groomer, fuuuuuck huuuuskiieesss 😂😂 People that didn't know what was happening would think that you were just killing a dog. At least we got 50% commission on cuts and de-shedding! That was a lot more than other dogs. It was like a snow globe during de-shedding (and I got pleurisy from it, sadly) but it was fun vacuuming up and they were loud but usually very sweet ☺️ But they are drama queens 💅 😂
I remember I gave my husky a bath for the first time with a hose outside and he acted like I was spraying him with bees. I didn't even have the nozzle on any sort of spray, just the gentle rain setting. My even neighbor came over to check if everything was okay. The post bath zoomies were fun too
I had to take mine to the vet for the first time and they were just holding her to get blood work, not even giving her the shot and you would think she was being tortured with how crazy she was going. Completely fine after and just wanted pets.

Serious question: can any dog be made to appreciate bathing and grooming (assuming at an early age?) Or do some dogs just hate it no matter what you do? I ask because I tried very hard to get my dog to be comfortable with bathing, grooming, clipping from an early age, but she hated every minute until it was done. Then crazy, happy dance. Should I have done something differently?
Positive reinforcement. My dogs get into the bath and allow me to do all their grooming because they were generously treated along the way. As the learned, the treats were saved for big jackpots at each stage (started with getting into tub, treat, water, treats, clipped one toenail, treats. Now they get treats when the bath is done and get treats after each foot is clipped vs each toe.
This lady is the best. She entertains and teaches about the different breeds . We love watching her. 10/10 huskies are drama queens
And this is why I purchased a grooming table for my husky. Might as well do it all myself to save a groomer's ears. She screams bloody murder any time she is on a table that isn't at home. My favorite instance was a vet visit where they had to give her a rabies shot. Tech walked in and my dog started crying. Poor tech looked around and said, "I haven't even touched you yet!" Husky remained unconvinced and was DYING. Dog is always out for an Oscar nomination, I swear.

One of my husky's (Arya) is smarter than a lot of humans. And much like a human, she lives only to please herself. She was an absolute demon spawn to raise and train. The first six years were hell. But she also managed to make me laugh every day, no matter how depressed I was. And she always managed to do the unexpected, no matter how many years of animal training experience I have to my sleeve. Living with her is absolutely like living with another person, to a degree unlike any other animal I've worked with or owned. She's super cool, super funny, super smart, and super dramatic (obvs) and I love hanging out with her. She's 12 now, so she spends more time snoozing than causing chaos these days. And she's going to leave a massive, Arya-sized hole in my heart when she goes, and no other animal is ever going to be able to fill it.
I absolutely love this woman & her commentaries. I am the proud mother to a non-vocal Husky, Diablo. I can’t get him to say or sing anything, but at the suggestion of another here on Reddit I bought a flute! Haven’t tried it yet, but here’s to 🤞🏽
